Those who make the worst use of their time are the first to complain.

Elsa let out a bitter sigh as she brushed her platinum hair, making a mental note to get it trimmed. Although she never wore her hair down, she knew that the split ends weren't something she could just ignore.

It was colder than usual in her room, though she figured it had something to do with Rapunzel's absence. Her cousin hadn't come back after her date the night before, meaning she had either spent the night with Flynn, or died. Elsa wasn't sure which was worse.

All she did know, was that a night alone in her room meant that the heater wouldn't get turned on in the middle of the night like it usually did, and Elsa would experience the awful feeling of bare feet on a cold hardwood floor in the morning. Thankfully, she owned a pair of slippers.

Wiggling her toes absently, Elsa gave her hair one last disapproving look, before twisting it into a messy bun. She didn't feel the need to spend anymore time on it, seeing as Anna would force her to redo it for the party that evening anyway.

Sighing again, Elsa stood from her vanity and walked towards her closet. Her sister had sent her a picture of her and her roommate's outfits, insisting that the blonde should also wear something sparkly. Anna had a monopoly on gold, while Merida's top seemed to be a shimmery bronze, leaving Elsa with silver. A color she actually liked, thankfully.

As she stepped into her shared walk-in closet, she couldn't help but sift through Rapunzel's clothes. The honey-blonde's style was all over the place, and Elsa would often find something she absolutely adored while raiding her cousin's closet. Sadly, it seemed that Rapunzel didn't own anything silver and sparkly, meaning Elsa would have to make due with her own wardrobe.

She had one dress that fit the requirements, but it was more of a cocktail dress than something she could throw on for a party. It was awfully short as well, with a plunging back that would only serve to keep her cold the entire night. Pairing it with a cardigan wouldn't do, since the high neckline would look awkward under one. She did have a black turtle neck sweater, which would combat both issues, but she had a feeling Anna wouldn't approve.

Then again, she wasn't really keen on seeking Anna's approval, anyway. Making up her mind, Elsa took both the dress and sweater from her closet and hung them on the back of her bedroom door, where she could match her accessories to them in proper lighting.

Leaning against the kitchen counter as she nursed a mug of tea, Elsa watched idly as her sisters raced in and out of the kitchen. Cinderella usually didn't allow the pledges to attend mixers, but she had made an exception tonight – if the pledges cleaned the entire house. The Delta Zeta president had made an offhanded remark about her stepsisters telling her the same thing when she was younger, though Elsa hadn't really been listening. She had instead been focused on her sister, Snow, who looked paler than usual.

"I'm not feeling too well," the raven-haired beauty mumbled, before holding her hand to her mouth and rushing towards the bathroom. Elsa and Cinderella wore mildly concerned expressions, whereas Megara rolled her eyes.

"Ten bucks it's food poisoning," she deadpanned, dumping her plate into the sink and giving Tiana a smirk.

The pledge merely sighed, before rinsing off what was left of the older girl's breakfast.

Turning her attention back to her president, Elsa tried to remember what the soft-spoken blonde had been talking about.

"So, anyways, once the pledges are done cleaning, I'm having them run into town to pick up a few things from the store. Is there anything you need?"

Elsa pondered for a moment, before shaking her head. "No, not really. Well, besides anything we might need for Rush week."

But as she finished her sentence, she noticed Cinderella advert her gaze. "Um, actually, I've been meaning to talk to you about that…"

Sensing bad news, Elsa gently placed her cup on the counter. "Talk to me about what?" she asked coldly.

She had always admired Cinderella, though the blonde wasn't her favorite person. She was warm and thoughtful, but also a bit flighty.

"Well, besides Anna, we've only got three other girls interested in rushing this quarter, and national requires at least five…"

Elsa couldn't stop herself from letting out a relieved giggle, and silently thanked the universe for her little sister's stubbornness. "Oh! I've forgot to mention; Anna's roommate Merida is also interested in rushing," she laughed. "She's not exactly DZ material, but she's sweet. I told Anna we'd give her a chance – who knows, she might fit in perfectly."

Cinderella also looked relieved, though the news of Merida brought a look of apprehension to her face. "Not DZ material? How so?"

Elsa refrained from rolling her eyes as she was forced to explain this to yet another person. "Well, she's basically the Scottish version of Meg, with wilder hair. She's very polite, in a passive aggressive kind of way. I find her lovely, though I'm not sure the others will warm up to her as quickly."

Her president crossed her arms before her as she mulled over Elsa's explanation, her yellow-blonde hair falling over her shoulders. "Another Meg, huh?" she mused.

Both sisters then glanced towards the sink, where Tiana was furiously scraping off Megara's plate.

"Well, Mini-Meg makes five, I guess," Cinderella concluded.

Smirking triumphantly, Elsa grabbed her mug and took it towards the sink, before offering Tiana an apologetic smile. She could still remember her time as a pledge, and those memories wouldn't be anything she thought of fondly. Hopefully Tiana wouldn't be dissuaded from sorority life; the girl had a good head on her shoulders, and Elsa would love for her sister to be in the same pledge class as her. Maybe some of her sense would rub off on Anna.

"Use the scrub brush; it's hidden under the sink," she whispered quickly, sending her distracted president a quick glance. "Just don't let Cinderella see you."

Tiana grinned gratefully as she discreetly opened the cupboard, and Elsa couldn't help but grin back. It reminded her of the times her and Anna would subtly break their mother's rules, though the memories were now laced with a heavy sadness. Not wanting to dwell on them, Elsa quickly distracted herself with her phone.

Anna hadn't replied to the picture she had sent her, though it was bound to be nothing more than a frowny-faced emoji. But she did have one new message – a text from Rapunzel.

We're allowed to bring guests to the party, right?

Feeling a Flynn-induced migraine coming on, Elsa let out another sigh.

"So Eugene's been modeling for my art class, since he's like, the self-proclaimed 'perfect male specimen', and nobody can get his nose right – it's hilarious!" Rapunzel enthused, letting out a hearty laugh. "I mean, I personally love his nose and could totally draw it in my sleep, but even I'm purposefully botching it. I think it's giving him a complex!"

Elsa smiled at her cousin's antics. Rapunzel and Flynn always had such a lighthearted relationship in high school, and Elsa was glad to see it continued into college. And despite her earlier reservations about Flynn, she was relieved to know that he actually was a stand-up guy. Even if she couldn't spend more than ten minutes in the same room as him.

"Am I a horrible person?" Rapunzel grinned, obviously pleased with herself.

"Only slightly horrible," Elsa replied with a smirk.

They were back in their shared room, sitting on their respective beds and sipping hot cocoa from matching penguin mugs. Rapunzel had arrived back about an hour prior, and had made the walk of shame through the house in last night's outfit, though nobody seemed to notice due to the frenzied cleaning. The pledges were determined to go to the New Years party, and the house was nearly spotless. A few sisters who had gone home for the holidays had gotten back that morning, and were pleasantly surprised as the pledges took their bags to their rooms.

The house was beginning to fill up once more, and Elsa couldn't decide if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

"So, is that what you're wearing tonight?" Rapunzel mused, gesturing towards the clothes hanging on the door, and pulling Elsa from her thoughts.

Following her cousin's gaze, the elder Arendelle shrugged. "I guess – Anna said something sparkly."

"That's definitely sparkly," Rapunzel agreed. "Does the sweater go over it, or under it?"

Scoffing playfully, Elsa tossed a throw pillow at her cousin. "Over, obviously! I do have a fashion sense, you know."

Rapunzel giggled sheepishly, tossing the pillow back. "Oh, yeah. It's right there, hidden under your pea coats and trenches."

Elsa rolled her eyes as she took another sip of her cocoa. "There's nothing wrong with wearing weather-appropriate attire."

"Yeah, but when your entire wardrobe can be described as business-casual…" Rapunzel trailed off, looking away innocently.

Elsa knew the honey-blonde was only giving her a hard time, but she couldn't help but feel a little offended. Fashion had always been a bit of a hobby for Elsa, and though she was more prone to designing formal wear in her daydreams, she didn't like hearing criticisms of her own fashion sense. Especially coming from someone who wore overalls.

But, deciding it best not to retaliate, the elder Arendelle ignored her cousin's playful teasing. It was time to change the subject, anyway.

"So, how'd you convince Flynn to come to the party tonight?"

Oblivious to what her cousin was doing, Rapunzel shrugged. "Oh, you know – the usual way. Using my feminine wiles… and promising I would see that new space movie with him."

Elsa giggled at the confession. "You're so devious."

Rapunzel responded with a proud smile, before scooting off of her bed. "Well, I'm out," she mused, gesturing to her empty mug. "Need a refill?"

Elsa glanced down at her own mug, which was still halfway full. "Nah, I'm good," she replied.

Shrugging again, Rapunzel headed for the door, careful not to disturb Elsa's outfit. Watching her go, the blonde let out an exasperated huff. She loved the girl dearly, but just like Anna, sometimes she was a bit much.

And, just like Anna, all the girl ever seemed to talk about was boys, until it was time to criticize Elsa's life. Both girls begged the blonde to step out of her comfort zone. They meant well, but it didn't mean Elsa liked it. Her comfort zone was, well, comfortable – and after the hellacious few months she'd experience, stepping out of it was the last thing she wanted to do.

Hell, she was already going to a mindless frat party tonight – what more did they want?

But before Elsa could stew over it longer, a tentative knock came from the doorway. Looking towards it, Elsa was pleasantly surprised to see Aurora, her sorority's Vice President, smiling back at her.

"You're home," Elsa smiled, setting her mug on her end table as she stood from the bed.

"Phillip just dropped me off – apparently I slept the whole ride back," she laughed, meeting Elsa halfway as she went in for a hug.

Aurora had been Elsa's 'Big Sister' when she first joined the sorority, and had been one of her best friends ever since. Her family had even invited Elsa and Anna to spend the holidays with them, but the elder Arendelle had declined, not wanting to be a burden. Plus, Aurora had planned on visiting her fiancé's family on Christmas day, and Elsa didn't want to be the reason they couldn't.

But even though Elsa probably wouldn't have gone anyway, she had been grateful for the invitation, regardless.

"How were the future in-laws?" Elsa teased, knowing Phillip's father had been rather wary of Aurora, before finding out about her family's fortune.

"Intoxicated, as usual," Aurora chuckled, releasing Elsa from her embrace. "How's Anna? She excited for Rush Week?"

Elsa was about to say yes, before she remembered Anna's hesitance when the subject was brought up. Furrowing her brows, Elsa frowned. "You know, I'm not quite sure," she admitted. "I know she wants to be a Delta Zeta, but I think she's terrified of rejection. Especially since this was something so important to our… to our mother…"

Elsa could feel her eyes water, though she did her best to blink back her tears. It was hard to just casually bring up her parents.

Thankfully, Aurora seemed to get the hint and didn't press the issue any further. "Well, she's got nothing to worry about. Her résumé alone is enough to get us interested!"

"That's what I keep telling her; she's more of a sure-in than I even was."

Aurora shook her head fondly, before quickly glancing at her phone. "Oh, shoot – Cinderella asked me to come downstairs ten minutes ago. I better go, before she starts stress-cleaning."

Sharing a quick laugh, Elsa waved her sorority sister away. Even though the sorority itself wasn't throwing the New Years bash, the girls still enjoyed helping the fraternity set up – Cinderella, especially. The girl lived for parties.

Agreeing to meet Anna at her dorm had been a bad idea. In her sister's typical fashion, the strawberry-blonde had put off getting ready till the very last second, and was frantically darting across her room, wearing only her dress and one shoe, with half of her hair still in rollers. Thankfully, she had already done her makeup – otherwise, Elsa didn't think they'd get to the party this year.

"I swear, I put them on my nightstand!" Anna exclaimed, opening and closing her various jewelry boxes. "They're the gold, dangly ones, with the little red rhinestones!"

"You mean the ones you're wearing right now?" Merida deadpanned, staring hopelessly at her hair in the mirror.

Anna quickly felt her earlobes, before giggling sheepishly. "Oh, right!"

Elsa could feel herself running out of patience as she tapped her foot anxiously. "Can we hurry this up, please? It's really starting to snow."

She watched as her sister glanced out the window, before rolling her eyes. "Like it'll bother you – you're wearing a turtle neck."

Merida nodded in agreement from the vanity, before sighing in defeat and letting her hair down.

Knowing her sister would bring up the topic, Elsa crossed her arms before her. "Well, my sweater does little in keeping my legs warm," she retorted, gesturing towards the sheer black tights she was wearing.

Anna seemed to have ignored her as she slipped on her cardigan. "Where's my shoe?"

"I think it's under my bed," Merida guessed.

"Oh, right!"

Resisting the urge to scream in frustration, Elsa watched as her sister fished out her missing boot, along with what looked like an arrow. But before she could ask, Merida stood from the vanity and cleared her throat.

"Ahem," she began, waiting for the sisters' attention. "'ow do I look?"

She was wearing the same bronze top from the picture Anna had sent, but paired it instead with a black pleather jacket and black leggings. Studded boots rounded out the ensemble, giving her an edgy-chic look.

"You look great," Elsa offered truthfully. She hadn't realized how much Delta Zeta potential Merida actually had, but now it was obvious. Besides being smart and funny, the girl really cleaned up well.

"I still think a skirt would have looked cuter," Anna muttered under her breath, but when she met Elsa's glare, she quickly recanted. "But who doesn't love a nice pair of leggings!"

Merida shook her head in amusement, glancing back at her reflection. "I just wish I could do somethin' about this mess," she groaned, tugging at her hair halfheartedly.

Elsa was about to offer a few suggestions, before Anna sent her a glare of her own. "Your hair is amazing, Mer."

"It's a literal nightmare!" the redhead retorted. "I swear, it's not usually this poufy; the weather 'ere sucks!"

Elsa begged to differ, though she didn't voice it out loud. It seemed not everyone was as fond of winter as her.

"I wish my hair was like yours naturally," Anna sighed, before remembering the curlers in her hair. "Heck, mine barely holds a curl!"

Elsa continued to observe the two younger girls, smiling slightly as they attempted to release her sister's hair.

The walk down Greek Row was rather uneventful, aside from a few catcalls the girls received from a passing car. Merida had ever so eloquently damned them to hell, while Anna merely giggled at the attention. Elsa did her best to ignore it.

Despite her apparent ineptitude with being in a relationship, Elsa was fairly accustomed to male attention. In fact, certain males in particular seemed incapable of taking the hint – one of which she'd might encounter that night, if he successfully snuck into the party.

Hopefully he had other plans; maybe even ones that included his apparent girlfriend, if he did in fact have one. Elsa wasn't yet convinced, though she did a great job of insisting to herself that it wasn't jealousy she was feeling. It was obviously annoyance… or something.

But definitely not jealousy. Elsa Arendelle didn't get jealous.

So I've been getting these chapters out quicker than usual, so I hope nobody has skipped anything by accident.

This chapter had a bit more background on the other Princesses, and I've basically just taken their defining traits (cleaning – Cinderella; 'food' poisoning – Snow White; sleeping – Aurora) so that they'd be easily recognizable without going into too much detail. Also, I figured out of all the other Disney "Princesses" (I'll be using that term loosely), Elsa would probably get along with Aurora, as they both are kind of reserved. Other characters will be mentioned soon, as well, so if any of you guys have suggestions on who would be friends with who, I'd love to hear them!

Next chapter will be Anna's POV, and consist of the beginning of the party. I plan on having the next three chapters taking place during the party, so there's also that to come!

A big thank you to everyone who has reviewed/favorited/followed!
