INT. BALLROOM – NIGHT

John still holds Renee and Tatum at gun and knifepoint. A door on the far side of the room opens – Billy enters, held at gunpoint by –

TATUM: (confused) James?

JAMES: Tatum! Have you missed me?

TATUM: What's going on?!

BILLY: He's been one of the killers all along! He was one of Sidney's accomplices!

TATUM: WHAT?!

John joins James as he throws Billy to the floor. Tatum kneels down next to Billy as Renee leans on a chair for support.

TATUM: (caressing his face) Billy …

Music begins playing: Here Comes the Bride. Tatum and Billy stand up, huddled close to each other. James and John grin wickedly. A curtain parts – GHOSTFACE enters.

GHOSTFACE: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of two lovers in holy matrimony.

Billy and Tatum look at each other.

TATUM: You want to marry us?

James grabs Tatum's arm. She cries out in pain as he drags her to the altar.

JAMES: Not you and Billy. You and me.

TATUM: I would never marry you!

Behind them, John points his gun at Billy.

JOHN: You will if you don't want Billy to have a nice new hole in his head!

JAMES: Your choice, Tatum.

TATUM: It won't be legal.

James points at cameras throughout the ballroom.

JAMES: We're broadcasting nationwide. The entire country – even the President – are witnesses. (motions to Ghostface) And we have an ordained minister! Online licensing and all that. (Beat) Him being a killer doesn't delegitimize this.

TATUM: Being married against my will does!

JAMES: But it won't be against your will. Not if you want Billy-Boy to make it out of this alive.

Tatum bites her lip.

Ghostface stands there, hands folded in front of him.

GHOSTFACE: Tatum. My dear Tatum! I haven't seen you since you were a baby!

The masked killer takes a step forward. And another. Tatum backs up – James grabs her, holding her in place.

GHOSTFACE: (still walking) And how much did John tell you? I hope not too much, I've waited over twenty years for this day to not have it ruined.

JOHN: (holding Billy at gunpoint) I told her just enough.

GHOSTFACE: (looking up) And you Renee – I'm glad you could be here as well for this wonderful occasion! A wedding – and a family reunion!

TATUM: Just get on with it! I've heard this all before! Just spill whatever stupid motive you have and be done with it!

GHOSTFACE: Maureen Prescott … was a conniving, man-hungry whore who could never be satisfied with one man. But then – so was Renee Riley.

RENEE: (downcast) Please don't -.

GHOSTFACE: She married poor John here, vowed to always be faithful to him. And what does she do? Meets a young cop, has an affair, gets pregnant by said cop and returns to her husband – but then lies to the poor little baby girl. Tries to pass the little girl off to the public as John's daughter. She moved you away, hid you away from me, your own FATHER!

Ghostface unmasks.

NED: She said she couldn't leave her husband, Tatum. That my line of work was too dangerous. That I could get killed in the line of duty and John could provide you with a better home than I ever could. I left it at that. I never questioned it. If it was for the good of my daughter, then so be it. I kept tabs on you throughout the years, though. And when I found out that you were almost killed a couple years ago, I did a little background reading. I came back here to Woodsboro, went to the public records to find out why Sidney Prescott would want to kill you. Of course, I found out all about Roman being Maureen's illegitimate son … but that wasn't all. (Beat) Because it seems that Maureen had only one biological child. Roman. Sidney – was adopted. I dug deeper and was shocked by why I found! It seems Maureen wasn't the only liar. As it turns out Tatum … you were a twin

TATUM: WHAT?!

NED: Renee and John couldn't afford twins at the time. Dewey – who was so young he couldn't remember the circumstances of the pregnancy – was getting bigger and bigger. So they found what they thought was a nice couple, one that seemed like they would take good care of one of the babies.

TATUM: This is crazy! It can't be true! Mom, tell me –

RENEE: I'm sorry, Tatum. It's true. Sidney … was your sister.

TATUM: No …

NED: Roman got a little too curious for his own good. And when Sidney found out from him that she was adopted, she just couldn't take it! Couple that with Roman revealing Maureen's affairs with Billy's Dad and she finally. Just. Snapped! But I already punished Roman for what he did. And Sidney punished Maureen. And now – there's only one more piece to this puzzle.

Ned looks over at John, jerks his head at Renee.

TATUM: No! Don't hurt her! I'll do whatever you ask! Please!

NED: I want my family. I want to attend your wedding.

TATUM: Yes! Anything!

NED: But not to Billy. He screwed around with both you and your sister. Knocked you up. Broke your sister's heart when she found out. Oh no – I had to put a stop to that wedding! Besides, I have a more suitable partner for you – one who was there for you sister and who has a deep, UNDYING love for you!

James grins.

NED: But first – you wouldn't deny me a father-daughter dance?

JAMES: Isn't is customary to do that after the ceremony?

NED: In case you haven't noticed, this isn't your typical wedding.

He holds out a black gloved hand.

NED: My daughter.

Shaking, Tatum takes his hand – and they're OFF – waltzing, Tatum absolutely sickened and horrified, Ned absolutely gleeful as they glide around the ballroom, his Ghostface robe flowing with each step. He takes Tatum – and spins her.

James stands there watching.

Renee's fingers tighten around a seat – unable to do anything to help her daughter, ashamed of her actions.

Ned spins Tatum again, drawing her in close. He places a gentle, loving kiss on her forehead. Tatum is repulsed.

Billy looks up at Renee.

BILLY: Renee … you can still do something …

RENEE: I … I can't …

BILLY: She is your only daughter! You've already lost one! Don't lose the other!

Renee's fingers tighten around the chair.

RENEE: I …

Her eyes open. She grabs the chair. John turns – RENEE SMASHES THE WOODEN CHAIR ACROSS HIS HEAD! His gun skitters. Billy dives, grabbing it. John is up, ready to charge. Billy aims – BLAM! BLAM!

Two gunshots to the chest. John stands there, his shirt blooming red. He sways, looking around, before his eyes roll up into his head and he collapses. Dead.

James is already moving, aiming his own gun at Billy.

Ned grabs Tatum, holding her close, gritting his teeth.

NED: No one is stopping this wedding!

Tatum lifts her foot and SMASHES it onto Ned's boot! Ned howls in pain and releases her. Tatum grabs a champagne bottle and SMASHES it onto her father's head, sending him tumbling to the ground.

Billy dives behind a chair as James aims and opens fire.

BILLY: Tatum – RUN!

Tatum turns, taking off through a side door. Ned springs to his feet, knife in hand, his Ghostface robe flowing.

NED: No!

He takes off chasing after his daughter.

Billy springs out from behind a chair, ready to blast James into oblivion – the gun CLICKS. Out of ammo.

James grins demonically as he raises his own gun.

JAMES: Sorry Billy-Boy. Looks like you don't get the girl.

Billy's eyes widen as James pulls the trigger.

BLAM!

THUNK!

Billy squeezes his eyes shut, waiting for the inevitable.

The bullet never hits him. He dares to open his eyes.

Renee is lying on the floor, blood spreading across her shirt, a trickle of red running from her mouth – she dove in front of the bullet, taking it for Billy!

James tosses aside his gun and slides out his knife, charging Billy. Billy is on his feet. James brings the knife down – Billy catches his arm, struggling. James pushes Billy into a table, pressing the knife down, inching closer, closer to his chest.

Billy reaches out and grabs a plate, SMASHING it into James' face. He kicks out with his foot, striking James in the gut. The killer falls back. Billy dives again, grabbing James' gun as James jumps to his feet –

James sees the danger too late.

JAMES: Oh.

Billy unleashes the full force of the gun, riddling James with bullets until James' gun is out of ammo. James sways and sighs.

JAMES: … Tatum

He collapses to the floor in a heap. Billy tosses the empty gun and rushes to Renee's side.

BILLY: You saved me.

RENEE: And now … you have to save her … please …

And Renee's chest heaves one final time … and she moves no more.

INT. STEEL MILL – NIGHT

Tatum bursts through a door into a hallway. The mill is like one giant maze. She turns, looking in all directions.

She hides in a closet.

Another door SLAMS open. Ned storms into the hallway, knife in hand. Tatum watches him from a crack in her closet door.

NED: Oh Tatum! Tatum dear! Daddy just wants to have a little chat!

Tatum squeezes herself down, holding her breath. Ned passes by her closet. She breathes a sigh of relief.

NED REAPPERS OUTSIDE HER CLOSET, WRENCHING THE DOOR OPEN!

Tatum screams as he tears his way through. She lashes out, kicking him in the gut. He doubles over and she barrels past him. Ned laughs.

NED: Hide and seek, is it? Oh, how much I've missed out on!

CUT TO:

Tatum finds herself standing on a rafter at the top of the factory, several stories high. She whimpers as she gingerly steps out onto it, trying not to look down.

Ned appears behind her. Tatum screams, trying to scurry across to the other side. She makes it halfway, before she SLIPS!

Her fingers LASH out, grabbing the edge of the rafter. She dangles there, several stories in the air. Ned walks catlike along the rafter, knife raised.

NED: That's the beauty of eventually getting a job with a group like PANTHYR. You get trained in all sorts of martial arts that you never learn as a regular cop. Not to mention how to hack cell phones, TV's – heck, even prison compounds that Cyrus was too stupid to realize I was hacking the whole time!

Ned is slowly approaching at Tatum struggles to pull herself up.

NED: It's such a shame, Tatum. We could've all been so happy together. You, me, James. Heck, even John.

He reaches Tatum and kneels down, staring into her eyes.

NED: It's such a shame you chose Billy-Bastard over me. But don't worry – I'll attend to him after you. The two of you can join each other in death. Together – FOREVER!

He raises his knife.

BILLY: (O.S.) Don't count on it!

Ned starts!

Billy is standing on the rafter behind him, his fists balled. Ned smiles as he rises and charges Billy – the two struggle!

Tatum tries to pull herself back onto the rafter – to no avail. She slips further! Her fingertips are turning white –

Billy and Ned are fighting in the middle of the rafter, both nearly losing their balance. Billy rears his fist back for a punch – Ned catches it and SLASHES Billy across the chest. A black-gloved hand lashes out –crushing Billy's throat. Ned leans in, eyes demented, grinning as he strangles the life out of Billy with one hand and raises his knife with the other.

TATUM: NO!

Billy's eyes fall on Tatum dangling behind Ned.

BILLY: Together … forever … huh? What a good idea!

Billy GRABS Ned around the shoulders and throws himself off the rafters sideways. Ned's eyes go wide and he screams as he and Billy both go over the edge.

TATUM: NOOOOOO!

Ned plummets the full height. It happens in slow motion. His eyes glaze over and – THUNK! He hits the ground facedown, landing on the blade of his own knife. Blood pools around him.

ABOVE:

Tatum is holding onto the rafter with one hand, her fingers barely holding on. With the other hand, she clasps Billy's. He stares up at her with all the love and affection in the world.

BILLY: You saved me.

TATUM: You saved me too …

CUT TO:

EXT. STEEL MILL – NIGHT

Tatum and Billy sit in the back of an ambulance with the early rays of the sun rising. They wear blankets on their shoulders, a repeat of the aftermath of the first massacre. Bodies are wheeled out in bags. Billy and Tatum's fingers intertwine. They smile at each other.

CUT TO:

Across Woodsboro, order has been restored. The National Guard rounds up the remaining prisoners. They lead away many PANTHYR guards with them – their hands cuffed for crimes committed both against prisoners and civilians.

CUT TO:

INT. HOSPITAL – MORNING

Dewey is sitting in a waiting room with the Minister who was to officiate Billy and Tatum's wedding. Both of their eyes are closed and their heads bowed as they pray together. Dr. Orth approaches and sighs.

DR. ORTH: Sheriff –

Dewey's head pops up. The Minister squeezes his shoulder.

DEWEY: Give it to me straight, Doc.

DR. ORTH: (sighs) There's been another complication –

Dewey buries his face into his hands.

DR. ORTH: (smiling) – but she made it through the night.

DEWEY: What?

DR. ORTH: Like I said, it took a miracle … but her condition is stabilized.

Dewey clasps his hands and looks upward in true humility.

DEWEY: (to the Heavens) Thank you.

DR. ORTH: You can see her now.

Dewey practically stumbles over himself – he stops.

DEWEY: You said there was another complication?

The doctor sighs and hands him a report. Dewey reads it and as he does, his eyes widen more and more.

DEWEY: (shock) A baby?!

CUT TO:

INT. HOSPITAL – GALE'S ROOM

Gale is lying in her bed having only just awoken a few minutes ago. Dewey is at her side, holding her hand. Gale smiles.

GALE: You're going to be a father, Dewey.

DEWEY: (beaming) You're going to be an awesome Mommy.

GALE: No one better mess with my kid – Mama Bear's got claws!

DEWEY: You're – you're not going to make another documentary about all this, are you?

GALE: Uh – duh!

DEWEY: Just … just make sure you get my good side this time.

He leans in and they kiss.

CUT TO:

Tatum and Billy, both bandaged, watch Dewey and Gale banter together. They smile, holding hands.

BILLY: Is that gonna be us when we get married?

TATUM: I hope so. (Beat) So … you still want to marry me after finding out my Dad was a psycho and my sister tried to kill us?

BILLY: In the immortal words of Gale – "uh – duh"!

Tatum beams. Then her face falls. Billy notices.

BILLY: What is it?

TATUM: (playing with her hands) There's … there's something I have to tell you and I should have told you a long time ago …

We ANGLE ON:

We see Tatum explaining her situation to Billy, though we don't hear her words. We see Billy's face fall, see him pacing as Tatum continues talking, see him slide down on the floor and bury his face in his hands.

The audio comes back on.

TATUM: (cont'd) – so I understand if you want to call things off.

BILLY: (looking up) What? No!

He stands up.

TATUM: I don't know how long we'll have together …

BILLY: That doesn't matter. What matters is making the most of however long we have left!

TATUM: I love you, Billy.

BILLY: I love you, Tatum. Always and forever.

Their lips meet.

INT. MARTHA'S HOUSE – AFTERNOON

Martha Meeks sits in her house with her television on. She hits play on the TV. A recording appears. RANDY again. He's got a headset on and he's doing his old podcast. He's giving a final monologue. Martha smiles at the sight of her brother.

RANDY: So what do you say in the midst of some of the most horrific events you can imagine? When friends are forced to say goodbye, sometimes forever? When things are completely out of your control and you feel helpless?

A MONTAGE:

We watch Billy and Tatum holding hands in a doctor's office, worry on their faces.

RANDY: When the cold candle of life goes out, the vapor of our lifespan evaporates?

Billy and Tatum kneel before a gravestone in a cemetery – RENEE RILEY.

RANDY: Well … there's nothing to say. It isn't the fact that you keep living forever. What's important – is that you lived.

Tatum throws Billy a surprise birthday party. He walks in stunned as she, Gale, Dewey, Martha and Billy's mother Debbie pop out. Gale is holding a little baby boy and Dewey is beaming.

RANDY: But you may ask – isn't it unfair? Some people get lifetimes together and others a few short years. While others get only a few minutes! Well, the forces of the universe have their own agendas. We're to be taught something – it isn't the duration, it's the quality!

We see Tatum and Billy in the same doctor's office – but now, they're positively beaming. We see an ultrasound of Tatum's womb – a baby!

RANDY: We take the wins, the precious joys we get and we hold them in our hearts forever. We hold them tightly, so that when the moments of adversity come – tragedy and heartbreak – we have something to hold on to. That's what keeps us going. That's what keeps us sane. That's what keeps us human. We sail forward on the eternal ocean, keeping an eye on the horizon that meets us.

We see a sailboat. Billy is standing there, hoisting the sails. His little daughter – NICHOLETTE – is the spitting image of Tatum. She laughs as the boat bobs along a wave. Behind them, Gale and Dewey hold their son, DWIGHT JR.

Billy brings the boat to a stop. He's holding an urn with ashes.

He stares at the sunset on the horizon and a tear forms in the corner of his eyes. He turns back to Dewey and Gale who nod encouragingly. Billy turns back to the sunset and looks down at the urn. He pats his daughter who clutches his hand – and he lifts the lid of the urn. Tatum's ashes blow away with the wind, making circles in the air as Billy watches her depart from him into the horizon … forever.

He hugs his daughter.

RANDY: And we realize that the reason the horizon never meets us is because this isn't the end. It isn't goodbye. Love, like the horizon, is eternal. When it's the real thing, it exists forever. Trying to shut it down is like trying to catch the horizon itself. So in closing, as the universe crumbles around us, though friendships be severed, love cut short, we continue forward, holding onto the dearest moments and realizing that it's not important how long we lived – but that we live.

We see an old mantle. Dozens of photographs are there. Tatum and Billy at their wedding. At a carnival. On Billy's boat sailing. In France. Kissing in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Holding a newborn baby girl. In each one, their smiles are unmistakable.

And no one who saw those pictures could ever doubt: they did live. However long they had left together, whether it was a few years or an entire lifetime, they hold and cherish each second with each other.

The images SWIRL around, back to the present day. Billy and Tatum are in church on their wedding day, kissing as the audience applauds. They live in this moment, holding it forever.

THE END.
