To all of you whose favorite character here is Jo, sorry that I made the other characters distrust her. Hope that this chapter makes up for it.

You will also get to read the thoughts of the unsub. It's only one paragraph, but it can't be a Criminal Minds fanfiction story without including the criminal's mind (get it?)

Please note that what these character do is extremely dangerous. Under no circumstances should any of you attempt to do what you are about to witness here.

I do not own Criminal Minds or its characters, including Theo. I do own Jackie, Lucas, Jo, PJ and Dexter.

Jo was driving her SUV as fast as possible to where she knew the unsub would be. With her were Jackie and Lucas. Both sat back as the vehicle zoomed through curves and passed red lights.

"Good thing I'd decided not to drive" Jackie attempted to lighten the mood. "Pretty sure you're going to receive a lot of tickets and not the ones you would want for a carnival."

Lucas didn't seem to have heard her. "I should have stayed behind. What was I thinking putting myself in danger?"

But she didn't mind what either of them said. "I don't care if I lose my license over this. I couldn't live with myself if I let this guy hurt anyone else."

Honestly, she had been surprised that Jackie and Lucas had even agreed to come with her. The team hadn't been pleased when she barged in on their secret conversation and begged to rejoin their investigation. She knew that she deserved their hateful looks and distrust. She should have never believed that the police would actually take her serious even with the evidence the team had gathered. But, she wasn't going to make the same mistake again. And after she'd informed her friends about the unsub going after his next target, they were willing to trust her.

PJ, who was on voicemail with Theo and Dexter back to the apartment, spoke. "We sure that the unsub is going to his next target?"

"Positive" Jo told him. Even though the police and FBI all told them they couldn't get involved with this investigation any further, she couldn't help but review their case work. And when she'd made a startling discovery, she knew that she and the rest of the team needed to act now. "When I looked back at the previous dates when the victims were killed, I realized that he was progressing faster. It's been too long since he's made a kill. He's bound to strike again today." She didn't know what it was. But something inside her told her that he was onto his next victim.

"Who's his next target though?" Jackie questioned as she sat shaken in the passenger's seat.

"From all of his recent documentations" Dexter answered from the phone. "Seems that Gia Golden is most likely his next target."

"What makes you think that, Poindexter?"

"She just signed an agreement to give full custody of her thirteen year old daughter to her ex-husband. Her statement says that she has had years of drinking problems and knew that she wouldn't be able to win guardianship."

"Still" they heard Theo state. "Ben Matta will see it as a mother giving up her child, just the same as his mother had."

"Then, why are we rushing to her apartment?" Lucas asked. "If he's heading there, we need to call the police."

Jo shook. "No cops this time. We at least need to warn Gia. That's why we even started this investigation. To stop him from killing anyone else."

"Okay" Theo told them from speaker. "Just be careful. This guy is dangerous. We've profiled him skillful with knives and sharp tools."

"Don't worry about us" Jackie told him. "The only thing we should be worried about is the fact that we could face expulsion."

They were all aware of that possibility. Jo knew that they would get into more trouble than ever if they were caught in the middle of this investigation once again. She could kiss her dreams of working on in law enforcement goodbye. But, it was one risk she had to take. A true officer's job was to save lives. And she was going to do whatever it took to rescue Gia Golden. So, she increased her speed.

Lucas, noticing their faster pace, shouted in fear. "Definitely should have stayed behind."

It wasn't long till they'd finally got to Gia Golden's apartment building. They carefully parked on the side of the road.

"So, what now?" Jackie asked.

"We just have to warn Gia about the approaching danger" Jo answered. "Dexter, what's Gia's apartment number?"

"44C" Dexter answered from the phone. "I also found out that Ben Matta is currently renting a silver mustang. License number is CMS6E5."

"Good to know, Dexter." Once she said that, she noticed a parked vehicle right behind them. It was a rusted silver mustang. Looking carefully on the license plate, she could make out that its number was CMS6E5.

With eyes widen, she spoke up "he's here."

"Who is?" Theo asked.

"Ben Matta. His car's here."

They all stared at each other in fear. The unsub was already there. What if he was with Gia Golden right now?

"There's no time to lose" Theo told them. "Call the squat team!"

Jackie quickly dialed 911. Without using one of her silly anonymous voices, she said "hello, there's a serial killer at an apartment complex. I just know, okay! He may be in room 44C with a woman named Gia Golden. He likely has knives as well."

But Jo knew that the squat team wouldn't be able to get there in time to save Gia. They had to do something now. With that in mind, she did something that she knew would get her in serious trouble. However, it was for a good cause.

She opened her car's storage compartment and took out what her foster dad had given her as a high school graduation gift. (Probably not the wisest present to give an eighteen year old, but at least it was what she needed for this mission). With the gun in her hand, she got out and began rushing into the building.

She could hear Lucas calling for her. "What are you thinking? You'll get killed!"

"Wait in the car" she called back to him.

She could also hear Jackie yell at her phone. "Hurry!"

Jo ran as fast a possible up the stars to Floor C. Once there, she stepped carefully holding up her gun. She honestly wasn't so sure what she was getting herself into. She'd never even used this gun before. But she was too far to turn around now.

When she got to room 44C, the door was creaked opened. She could hear a woman crying, "please, don't!"

She knew that it had to be Gia Golden's voice. Ben Matta must have already slipped himself in and was about to kill her. There was no time for second guessing. She needed to save this woman's life. Without thinking, she kicked the door opened. Inside, she saw an older man holding a knife in one hand. While the other held a woman by the collar of her shirt. He stared at her in anger when she stepped in.

"Let her go" Jo ordered him while holding up her gun.

"Or what?" Matta asked.

"Or I'll shoot you."

"Yeah, right. You don't look like a cop."

"That doesn't matter. I'm here to stop you from hurting anyone else."

He stared in confusion.

"That's right. I know that you killed Amy Smith and Taylor Richards. Along with four other women. You just had to make sure the nipples were removed just right."

He sneered. "I had to. First time I tried, messed up."

"So, you sacrificed four innocent women just to fulfill your sick purpose."

That was when Lucas and Jackie showed up. Both of them had a taser.

"Brought them just in case" Jackie told her.

"Squat team's on its way, Matta" Lucas told the unsub. "You might as well turn yourself in peacefully."

Matta held his grip on Gia. "Why should I? I'm not finished yet." He brought the knife closer to Gia's neck.

"Or we could kill you right here so that you can die of horrible blood loss" Jackie told him. "Your choice."

Jo knew that there was a good chance that Matta would rather watch another one of his victims die than live. But if they shoot him, they could face serious trouble. She had to try to talk his way into turning himself in peacefully. But how? Think. He hated women who gave up their children. He practiced his kills on prostitutes. His trophies were the women's nipples. That's when it clicked. Nipples were his one weakness.

"Too bad" she told him. "I checked your mom's prison records. They still got her body preserved and only you are allowed access to it." She was lying, but what other choice did they have? She could only hope that it was convincing. "If you turn yourself in, they said that you can decide what happens to her. That includes getting a hold of her body parts, even her nipples."

My eyes lit up. I would be able to get my mother's nipples. After all this time, they could be mine. As much as I hated having to let a woman who was giving up on her own child live, getting my mother's nipples was more important.

With that, he released Gia and threw down his knife. Gia ran out the door and Jackie helped to calm her down. The squat team showed up just then. Matta threw his hands up in the air and one man placed handcuffs on him.

"I may have lost one good prize today" Matta said out loud. "But I got an even bigger one."

Jo walked up to him with a proud grin. "About that. I lied."

Matta gave her a confused glanced as he was taken away. She could hear him weeping down the hallway.

Jackie walked back over to her. "Well, that's one thing taken care of."

Lucas shook his head. "Only one more problem to face."

Jo nodded. They all knew what that was. "At least you guys didn't use your tasers on him. Or we would have had much more to explain to the authorities."

"What's better was that you hadn't shot him" Jackie spoke. "Or we would have all been in even serious trouble than we already are."

She shrugged. "Even if it came to that, I couldn't have done it. Since this gun isn't loaded."

Well, it seems that the unsub has been caught and the case has been solved. But what's going to happen to our young profilers now? Stay tuned.
