To anyone who cares to check their notifications and then still proceed to read this–hello! 2015 me has probably been disappointed with 2018 me for not publishing this documentation sooner. I had every intention of finishing the story I began to write. I figured that even if no one reads this final update that I'll at least feel satisfied with myself for not leaving it totally incomplete. So, a word.

Before I joined the site 6 years ago, I didn't want to be one of those writers who published stories and never ended up finishing. Reading a great online piece and then actually seeing it unfinished sucks. Obviously, life happens, times change, and the show that these lovely characters come from ended about a year ago. I apologize for not following through for anyone who anticipated what happened next. I still don't intend to finish, but I do know what was supposed to happen. I'll get to that.

Every time I log back into this website (which has been quite a few times over the past couple years) I cringe at my writing style and just about every story I've published. Then again I was just a teenager when I wrote most of this stuff. Though I haven't written on here in years, I still do write (and am pursuing a creative writing minor, fun fact) and have definitely improved since.

Shoutout to you if you've ever read any of my stuff! Feedback is essential and always means a lot to the author. And for just giving any of my tales the time of day, I thank you.

The following is a general outline of what was supposed to happen in the rest of the story. The story will be marked as "complete" even though it clearly isn't, but hopefully such details will suffice.

Chapter 4: Why Is This Happening?

I did mean to publish this chapter since I had started writing it. Found a little excerpt of the beginning of the chapter so that'll be below!

When Maya stepped into Riley's room through the bay window, she was more than surprised to find that the brunette was absent from it. She noticed a lump on her bed, and thought maybe that she had fallen asleep by accident or something. But when she lifted the covers up, the blonde discovered it was something that was going on. She didn't know what yet, but a feeling of worry filled in the pit of her stomach.

She proceeded to look in the closet and then under the bed, but still no Riley. Maybe she was in the kitchen or in the living room.

Alone, Maya went into the rest of the Matthews apartment, but found it empty also, which was strange. There wasn't one member of the Matthews family present in the apartment. And that to Maya was strange. More than strange, even.

She called out, "Mr. Matthews? Auggie? Topanga?"

"Where is everybody?" she muttered to herself.

Maya began to look around, growing a little more concerned the more empty she found the place to be. "Riley, are you here?"

She sighed and returned to Riley's room, to where she found Lucas just climbing in.

Despite her troubled mood, she greeted, "Well if it isn't ol' Sundance. How ya doin'?"

"Yeah, hello to you, too," Lucas said back. "Where's Riley?"

"That's what I'd like to know," she said. "She's not here. Have you seen her?"

The boy shook his head. "Have you tried texting her?"

Maya answered his question by pulling out her phone, and immediately started typing a message saying, "Riles where r u?" She guessed that she did the same when he pulled out his own phone.

"And no one else is here except us either," Maya told Lucas. "Not a single Matthews in sight."

"Huh. Weird."

"Yeah." Then, "Okay where could she be?"

Lucas shrugged. "Well there's school still, the park, the bakery..."

Maya shook her head. None of those sounded like the correct location. It wasn't like she could ask any of the other Matthews family either because none of them were even here.

Someone else then came through the window and Maya hoped that it was Riley, but instead the two found the person to be Farkle.

"Hey guys. Where's Riley?" He asked.

Maya sighed. "That's what we're trying to figure out. You seen her since school?"

"Uh...nope."

Maya then felt her phone vibrate and beep, and she took it out instantly. She looked at the text message. "Huh." So that was where she was.

"What is it?" Farkle asked.

"She's at the library." The library? Of all places in the world she chooses to be at the library?

"Library?" Lucas even questioned. "What's she doing there?"

Maya started heading for the window. She answered, "To be honest, I'm not really sure, Huckleberry. But let's go get her."

The three friends exited the apartment and climbed down onto the streets when Maya felt her phone vibrate and beep again. Thinking it was Riley she took it out, but instead it was her mom calling.

"Mom?" Maya spoke into the phone. The threesome continued walking to the library.

"Hi, baby girl...," her mom said. "You don't happen to be busy right now, do you?"

"Uh, sort of. Why?"

"We have to talk. Could you come by the bakery?"

The blonde stopped in her tracks, causing the two boys to stop to. They looked back at Maya, wondering what was going on.

"Why?" Maya asked.

"I can explain when you get here. Can you get here?"

Maya bit her lip, knowing she wanted to head to the library to find Riley, but knew that whatever her mom had to talk to her about was somehow important, too. "Yeah. I'll be there." She hung up the phone.

To Farkle and Lucas, she said, "I gotta take a little detour to Topanga's. You guys mind?"

"Of course not," Farkle replied. "But what for?"

"Dunno. My mom just wants to talk to me about something, that's all."

"You want us to come with or—?" Lucas suggested.

"No, that's fine. Topanga's is on the way. I'll meet you guys there, okay? Text me if you find Riley."

The two of them nodded, and Maya headed her separate way from the boys.

So after this, the chapter cuts to Maya talking to her mom, who lets her know that she and Shawn are on a break. This definitely makes Maya upset, who loves Shawn like an actual father. She starts to remember when her biological father did leave when she was younger. The start of that section started with this quote, "He always threatened to leave."

Then that little flashback ends with:

My dad left my mom and me when I was really young. We got left. I felt alone.

The only thing that popped into my mind when I thought about my dad was his facial expression as he left the apartment and how upset I felt when I realized that he never came back. But if hope is for suckers, then I must be a sucker for believing in the fact that maybe someday I will have a real father again. Someday.

As you can imagine, such an event left Maya at a loss (as it did in the show, too). Her parents were caught up in fights all the time so Maya would escape out her window to visit Riley (I think this might have happened in the show too?). Then suddenly, her father was just gone. She was confused at first when returning from Riley's one day, expecting her parents to still be arguing but it was quiet in their apartment, and she found her mom alone in the living room. Maya hoped her father to come back and she didn't stop hoping for a long time (though her mother gave up sooner rather than later) and slowly broke down from losing one of her parental figures. From this though, Maya would never want anyone (especially Riley) to ever experience any such pain and loneliness she felt.

Once leaves her mom, she puts on a brave face and heads to the library, of course. That is, only to find Josh on her way. He sees her first, and is actually a bit stunned when she doesn't immediately act all flirty when she sees him. Much to Maya's surprise, he asks what's wrong, and Maya unable to keep it together, reveals the news her mom just unveiled to her. Josh offers her a ride to the library afterwards, but she declines and heads there herself.

Chapter 5: Who Am I?

Just going to say here that I don't really know why I named the chapter "Who Am I?" other than the fact that I needed a "who" question as a chapter title to follow the overall theme of the story. The chapter would have begun with the following excerpt:

It was hard to remember a time when I didn't know Maya. She was always right here beside me. And if she ever left, she always came right back.

What I do remember was that she was the first person to stand up for me when I felt most vulnerable. I felt insecure about the way I was, but Maya made me realize that I was wrong about the way I thought about myself. What mattered the most was who I was on the inside rather than on the outside. I didn't want to admit it, but I had it all wrong.

Not gonna lie, I don't quite remember why I had Riley be at the library. Surely, there was some reference to the second episode of Girl Meets World. The librarian in that episode I believe, would have made an appearance. What the chapter would have encompassed is this: Riley's life seemed so perfect. In the present day, her life seemed like a utopia, one with two loving parents, an adorable younger brother, a caring extended family, and great friends with no major issues in between. At least, that was what Riley thought.

While at the library, Riley obviously reflects on her life before Maya (which was very early in her life). She mostly spent it by herself, reading, writing, or simply playing with toys. Riley meeting Maya was obviously her "personal revolution." There's no doubt that this was such a turning point in her life and that without Maya, Riley's life would be significantly different.

She then runs into a real cute guy, who thinks she's cute too, and proceeds to flirt with her. Riley, still slightly innocent and oblivious to the guy's intentions, talks with him. When the guy tries to make a move on her, she gets confused and hesitant. The guy insists that they hang out some other time then, but Riley declines. He tries to grab her arm, but her friends then arrive at the scene before the guy can do anything drastic. Lucas's temper almost bursts, and Maya and Farkle become insanely protective after the guy is chased away. They all pander Riley with questions, and Riley of course tells them everything.

However, while Riley appreciates that they care about her, she gets slightly irritated and tries to argue that she can handle her own. She half-storms off and the three go after her.

Once they catch up, all their issues abruptly come up in a heated argument.

Chapter 6: When Does "Now" Begin?

A couple days later at school when their initial assignment is due, Cory can easily tell that things are tense between Riley and her friends, that something obviously is up. He asks the class to hold up the sheet of paper that is their personal revolution on paper and doesn't ask for them to turn it in, and that everyone will get full points on the assignment. But, he does ask that whether they keep that sheet of paper or throw it in the recycling bin that everyone reads over their personal revolution one more time. He asks the class to reflect on who they were then and who they are now, and how the transition between then and now affected their relationships with others and possibly have changed themselves for the better. The final thing Cory notes is that some of these events can be extremely pivotal points in their lives, despite how young they are, and to not forget that everyone goes through their own personal revolution as well.

He leaves it at that, and after class the four quietly gather at lunch. Slowly, their small talk builds up into a full conversation, and eventually the four all exchange apologies for misunderstanding each other. However, they're all glad with where they ended up.

Hopefully this closes up any loose threads! Sorry again that I couldn't actually finish what I started–this outline is the best I've got to be honest. If I missed something, feel free to send me a PM, as I do check my email every so often! Thanks again for reading!
