In this chapter I mention that Fred gives Spike his body back when it was actually a bit more complicated in the series. But I chose to ignore that fact for the sake of my story... :)
Epilogue:
Spike and Buffy mostly tried to stay away from Angel after she told him her decision. Buffy didn't want to hurt him more. Spike didn't want to be tempted to quarrel with him and thus hurt Buffy.
Angel was the only one who wasn't present when Fred finally managed to get all the spare parts for her machine working and give Spike his body back. Angel's team was genuinely very excited for him and Spike more than a little overwhelmed when he could finally really interact with the world again. There was so much he wanted to do at once. Most things involved Buffy in some way but he told himself to wait. He knew he could wait.
They threw a little recorporealization/going away party in Fred's lab, amazed that her unorthodox, scientific methods have worked once more, but Angel kept away.
He had a lot to process. A lot to adjust to. There was a prophecy about a vampire champion who, once he'd proved himself, would get to live as a human again. Angel wasn't sure if he really believed in it, but if there was a chance that the prophecy was indeed true, he always figured that he would be the one and only champion. The only vampire with a soul.
Now that Spike was back and because he claimed to deserve his soul more than Angel since he got it on his own, Angel wondered if the question about the champion was as clear-cut as he thought.
It looked as if he had to fight for his destiny after all.
Meanwhile, Spike returned with Buffy back to London. To all her friends. Dawn accepted Spike with open arms, truly happy that he was alive and finally together with her sister. Willow was also glad to see him unharmed and she was happy because Buffy was happy. However, even though Xander and Giles did accept him, they would probably never fully trust Spike.
The Slayer and the vampire didn't really care. They would listen to no ones advice on how to maintain a successful relationship. They were looking forward to finding all of this out on their own.
It was the morning after they returned from Los Angeles and Buffy rested comfortably in Spike's arms. The sun was up but they haven't really slept yet. They were, after all, on the same page now and knowing how compatible they were, they would be stupid not to act on it. Still, it was different from all the times before. Passionate, but calm. No hints of violence or dominance.
It was just love.
The blinds were closed in the bedroom, but in the half-light Spike suddenly rolled Buffy onto her back, resting over her. He stroked some disarrayed golden hair from her face and looked down into her eyes as he made her a promise:
"I will stay with you as long as you want me to, Slayer. I'll always love you, no matter if you do or not. Body and soul, Buffy, I'll be yours. And whether you'll move on from this world tomorrow or sixty years from now, I promise I'll be by your side." He looked towards the window. "When the last day comes we'll open the blinds and we'll watch the sun rise and we will fade away together."
Got a bit sappy there in the end, sorry, haha. :)
This is the end of part 1, but I did get inspired to write more for this story! Hooray! It still needs a bit of proof-reading, but I think I will post it soon. I hope you enjoyed this first part and if you do, please leave a review! Thank you all so much for reading!
