Hey there! So very, very sorry about the previous chapter and how much it sucked, I was just in a rush to get it out, with the end of school and all. And I know that it's been almost five months, but I was busy all summer and now with school I'm overbooked. (I had to start to go to Physical Therapy, my knees are messed up.) Also, I got distracted when my sister reintroduced one of my all time favorite childhood animes, Shinzo, to me. (For those of you who don't know what it is, you should watch it. It rocks!)
My personal thanks to all of you kind folks who have reviewed this story. For that, I shall reward you with (SOME) ACTUAL PLOT DEVELOPMENT this chapter! Now, in order for that to happen, there has to be this...
DISCLAIMER!: I don't own D. Gray Man or DBZ. I do own Katie, Tori, and Deidre though!
And now, my fellow fangirls and fanboys, please indulge yourselves in my latest creation! MWAHAHAHAHA!
I hugged my dad with all of my strength as he wrapped his arms around me. I buried my face in his orange gi top and sobbed, letting all of my sadness of the past few weeks out. I could hear Allen groaning on the ground as he pulled himself up into a sitting position. I didn't care. He could have been dead for all that I cared. My dad wrapped his arms around Gohan too, and so I moved my good arm to get it around him, too. Leaning down to my ear, he whispered,
"It's okay, it's okay, Katums*. I'm sorry I took so long, but I'm here now, and that's all that counts." His voice was filled with so much love that I nearly broke down into tears, not counting the ones I had shed earlier.
Gently, he let go of Gohan and I, then turned around to face Allen. His face turned from loving and caring to absolutely livid in no time flat. In a matter of seconds, he burst into super saiyan and trudged over to Allen's cowering form.
Lavi gasped, just realizing how much trouble they were all in.
"Look! We're sorry, okay? We didn't mean to hurt her, honest! I swear we didn't do anything, just please, don't kill us!" Lavi begged, getting down on his knees and clasping his hands together. Dad just turned to where Lavi was kneeling, a look of utter confusion plastered on his face.
"Kill you, now why would I do that?" he asked, a goofy smile dancing across his lips as he offered Lavi his hand. Pulling him up, Lavi let out a nervous laugh as my dad patted him on the back.
"Ugh, I think you broke my spine..." Allen whined, my dad walking over to his battered form.
"Heh, sorry 'bout that! I tend to get a bit carried away when angry." he laughed, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand while he put the other out in front of him, silently telling my brother to put his in dad's so he could help him up. He did, and my dad pulled him up with a short tug. There was a rustling in the trees, and suddenly a very disheveled looking Piccolo came walking out of the shadows. Quietly, he walked over to where Gohan and I sat and knelt down to my eye level.
"Are you feeling alright? Can you walk?" he asked, a worried expression on his face.
"I-I think so," I said quietly, "I can try." I pulled my legs under me and pushed myself up with my arms. Supporting myself on Piccolo's shoulder, I dizzily stood on my feet.
I watched closely as my dad walked over with Allen in tow to where Gohan was sitting. I watched as Allen offered his hand to him, pulling him to his feet. I could just faintly hear Allen apologizing to him as he placed a hand on Gohan's shoulder.
Now all of them were coming towards me. All five of them.
"Hey, sis, I'm really, really sorry about, you know, back there," Allen said as he bent down a bit to my height. I was really dizzy and was having a hard time focusing on, well, everything. "Katie?" he asked, putting a hand on my shoulder. He was worried. I could see it in his face. The pain of my arm and eye was numbing, my legs getting a bit wobbly and weak. Suddenly, Piccolo moved away from me, leaving me without any support.
"Do you really expect her to forgive you after you nearly crushed her?!" he snarled, lifting his lip to show his razor sharp teeth. Allen stepped back in shock.
"I'm sorry, but the last time that I checked, there is nothing wrong with worrying about my sister. Why do you even care? She isn't even related to you!" he yelled back, his face flushing with rage.
"I care because she is my student. I care because she is a great person, and because I don't like to see someone as kind and caring as she is get harmed by her own flesh and blood." Piccolo snarled, leaning in close to his face.
Allen was dumbfound. A look of pure shock covering his face. He stuttered, "W-wait, she, she, she's y-y-your STUDENT!?" Piccolo nodded, looking very satisfied. "But of what? Angry facial expressions?" he snickered, doubling over in laughter. Lenalee gave him a look that said you-better-back-down-now-or-else-you're-gonna-get- your-ass-kicked. Allen immediately stopped.
"No, of martial arts. Where do you think she learned how to fight?"
"I don't know! For how long?"
"Since she was six," Piccolo responded, a smirk dancing across his lips. I wasn't able to hear the rest of the argument, my head felt like it had a great white shark swimming around in it. My body was swaying from the lack of support, and I tried desperately to stay upright.. It was like there was a war inside my head, half wanting to just fall, while the other begging to stay conscious. My knees locked, my arm felt like it had flames licking up it, and I was starting to feel my heartbeat in my eye. Which, trust me, is NOT comfortable. I grunted, doubling over before dropping to my knees. The only people who took notice were Lavi and Lenalee.
"Hey, shhh, it's okay, it's okay." Lavi cooed, crouching down to where I kneeled on the grass. He gingerly wrapped my left arm around his shoulders, while Lenalee spotted us so that I wouldn't stumble and fall. "Katie, sweetie, what's wrong? Are you okay? Does your arm hurt?" he asked, looking at me worryingly. I grunted and nodded in response. I could almost see the gears turning in his head, trying to piece together what was going on. "Okay then, Lenalee and I are going to get you back to the Order so we can get you some help, okay?" he asked, waiting for my response. I nodded, and then gestured with my head to the "fantastic" four, silently asking him to tell them what was happening. He seemed to get the message, because he slowly and steadily set me down on the ground and walked over to where they were still arguing.
Hesitantly, Lavi said, "Hey, uh, hate to break up the party; but in case you four haven't noticed, Katie is sitting right over there, and she is in pain, so I suggest you get your asses in gear and help her out." The look on dad's face from the redhead's outburst itself was priceless.
Immediately, Lavi rushed back over to my side and began once again to gently pull me up. Allen soon came over to my other side.
"It's okay, you're going to be fine Katie. Just keep on breathing. Just-"
"Honestly Allen, I could freaking care less. Can you please just shut up?" I quipped, sending a death glare in his direction. Gohan came running up in front of me, walking backwards as we trudged back to the castle. I glanced back quickly to find my dad and Piccolo talking about something. I decided to just leave it and ask later.
"Are you alright?" Gohan asked, worried. To me, it didn't even look like he was a kid anymore, like he had aged 7 years in a month. He wasn't the fun-loving kid I used to know anymore.
I half nodded, and then stopped and shook my head as a wave of nausea washed over me. I quickly snapped my head around to face Lavi, and said, "Please, faster!" He happily obliged, and picked up his pace a bit.
"I'm gonna run ahead and see if I can find someone to help set up a room in the medical ward," Lenalee said, motioning to Gohan to take her spot as spotter. She activated her innocence, a pair of black boots that had teal power streaks running up them. She rushed ahead at about the same time I could take off and raced her way to the castle.
All of a sudden, there was a pulsing sensation in my eye, and without any warning, my scar broke open and started gushing blood.
"AH!" I exclaimed, blood quickly flowing down my face to land on my torn purple gi. I started panting, my breathing becoming more and more shallow by the second. I couldn't see, and I began to panic.
"Oh my god, Katie!" Allen yelled, "Lavi, stop! Put her down." Lavi instantly stopped and gently laid me down on the ground.
"Oh man, what the hell?" Lavi gasped.
"Where's...Gohan?" I gasped, frantically looking around with my now one good eye.
"I'm right here, Katie," I heard Gohan say as he knelt down beside me. Tears welled up in my eyes. 'It's okay,' I told myself, 'It's all going to be okay,' but no matter what I told myself I couldn't stop crying. He gently grabbed my good arm and soothingly rubbed circles on the back of my hand with his thumb. "It's alright, we're all here. Just try to calm down, okay?" He cooed, trying to get me to calm down so that we could get going.
"I-I can't see. I can't see!" I panicked, trying to get up, only to be held down by a hand on my stomach.
"Katie, please, just calm down. It's going to be okay, but we need you to pull yourself together so we can get you back into one piece," Allen told me, kneeling down on my right side.
"But it hurts, so much...I don't think that I ca-"
"I know it hurts, but we really need you to just calm down and let us take care of you," he explained. I nodded, and with that Lavi and Allen picked me up. Instead of slowly walking, they started to all-out sprint back to the Order. And instead of being dragged, I was being carried. Allen had my legs, one in each arm as he ran in front of me. Lavi and Gohan had my torso, carefully placing their hands under me; one on my back and the other supporting my shoulders. I was screaming now, the pain seeming to seep throughout the rest of my body.
We burst out of the woods in a frantic storm, the boys running as fast as their legs could carry them to the Order where a swarm of medical personnel stood outside the front gate. Lenalee, Komui, and Kanda were at the front of the pack. Paramedics came running to us and laid me out on a stretcher. The blood from my now open scar was seeping into my eyes, turning my vision a blur of black and red. Komui came running over and trotted next to the stretcher.
"Lenalee told us what happened, and we have come up with a theory," he said as he helped the paramedics staunch up the blood flow from my face. He nearly gasped at the sight of my marred and torn open face. I felt something wet and cold being pressed down onto my right shoulder. I looked up to find Gohan's tear-stained face, pressing an ice pack to my throbbing shoulder. It was a small gesture, but it still meant a great deal. I gave him a small smile, and he smiled back down at me and whispered a quiet "I'm sorry".
I was about to say that it was all right, that we were cool, but before I could I saw Komui pull out a tiny bottle with a transparent white liquid. Not quite white, but still not quite clear, more of a foggy substance. He opened the bottle and poured a few drops of the substance onto my scar. I winced, it stung like HFIL, and smelled like antiseptic and gasoline, but after a few seconds the stinging stopped and the repulsive odor faded. A few more seconds, and my scar had completely closed up again. I let out a sigh of relief that I didn't know I was holding. The pain in my eye had completely vanished, leaving no trace of it reopening behind. And I could see again! Satisfied with the results, Komui then poured some of the foggy substance onto the innocence embedded in my hand. Once again, it stung and smelled, but after awhile the pain reduced to an extremely dull ache. I looked up at Komui in amazement.
"How the hell did you do that?" I asked. He only smiled at me.
"That, Katheri-"
"Katie," I corrected in a sing-song voice.
"Katie, was an antidote for your major innocence issues. General Cross and I came up with the theory that because of your innocence's lack of use, it has begun to take it upon itself to activate. Your body, with its insistence on your one specific fighting style, prevents it from activating all of a sudden. But it inflicts immense amounts of damage to your body, for your innocence is a part of your body, too. So we started mixing up an antidote that you can take until you have become used to using your innocence, alright?" he explained, a proud smile on his face. He must have been proud of himself for the feat he had just achieved. I nodded, and then sat up to see where the paramedics had brought us to.
Taking a few quick glances around, I found that we had ended up in Komui's disaster of an office.
"Alright, I guess that makes sense, but... what is this "specific fighting style"?" Allen asked, looking at me suspiciously. I began to stutter,
"Uh... um, I-I can explain! Well... uh, Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha-"
"Yam-who?" Lenalee asked.
"Not important, the point is, that all of us, we can... fire off ki, or energy, whatever you want to call it. It's, well, it's easier to just show you," I said nervously, taking in a shaky breath to try to calm myself down. To make sure that I could still control my ki, I flared it a little bit and brought it back down. I felt a hand on my shoulder and saw Gohan look at me questioningly.
/Are you sure about this?/ he asked.
I nodded, and said to him, /Of course I am, they deserve to know. I just need you to catch the ki blast, don't worry, it'll be a weak one!/
/Okay then, are you sure?/
/Absolutely positive. You ready?/ I asked. He nodded, and walked to the opposite side of Komui's paper-strewn office.
"Okay, we're gonna demonstrate ki blasts to you guys, so just please don't jump into the middle of it. The blasts might be weak to us, but they can still put a hole into the gut of someone like you guys," I explained, and slowly slipped down into a fighting stance. I saw mixed expressions of fear, surprise, and anticipation on the surrounding faces. Taking one last calming breath, I sent a small bit of ki up to my hand, where I formed it into a tiny ball of blue energy. I then turned around to show it to the others.
"This," I explained, "is a ki blast. And this," I said, turning back to Gohan. /Get ready, here it comes./ I told him, and he got himself ready. I threw the cobalt blast at him where he skillfully caught it in one hand. I continued, "is how you throw one. Now, Gohan, I want you to throw it back to me, alright?" I asked him. He nodded and quickly tossed the blue ki back at me. I caught it with one hand, and then put both of my hands around it protectively. Opening up my hands, I walked over to where everyone else stood, and showed them the tiny ball of cobalt energy. Komui, Lavi, Lenalee, and Allen all stared at the ball in pure wonder. Kanda just gave a soft "Che", and leaned against a large (and slightly tilting) stack of files.
"Oh man, Katie, when did you learn how to do that?" Lavi asked in bewilderment. I smiled, it was nice for people to think that you're special once in awhile.
After pondering on it for a few seconds, I answered, "Well, let's see, Gohan and I were captured by our uncle, Raditz, when I was around six. I think that it was six months later that Piccolo actually bothered to teach us... so that would put us at around 6 and a half years?" I said, going over the math in my head.
"Has it really been that long? Whoa..." Gohan whispered, his mind seeming to be drifting into lala land. I chuckled, glad to see that he was still a bit careless.
"Anyways, 6 and a half years ago, Gohan and I were captured by our uncle. Piccolo and our father beat him, but at the cost of our dad's life. The other two Saiyans were coming in a year, and so Piccolo took us and taught us how to protect ourselves, and to protect the rest of the world," I explained. Lavi had his face scrunched up in concentration. Allen was shocked, as was Komui and Lenalee. Kanda was still perfectly aloof.
Lavi interrupted the thick silence, "Wait," he said, "if your dad died, then how the hell was he back there?! Unless I'm seeing ghosts, that can't happen." I nodded.
"You're right, it shouldn't. And yet, he was there! Your question is a simple one to answer, you see, there are these, uh..." I started to explain, but then got horribly confused on how I was to explain it.
"Things!" Gohan interjected.
"Things?" Lavi asked.
"Yeah, things. Orbs, more like it. Seven of them. They're called dragon balls," Lavi giggled at the comment, "Anyways, they are scattered across the globe, and they can be absolutely anywhere. When all seven are gathered together, they have the power to grant any wish." I explained. Now everyone was shocked, even Kanda, who pushed himself off of the stack of papers and walked back over to the others. Gohan nudged me in my side.
"Uh, you forgot something Katie. They even have the power to bring the dead back to life. But they have some rules. One, a wish cannot be granted if it is out of the power of the creator of the dragon balls. Two, a person cannot be brought back if they died of natural causes. Lastly, a person cannot be brought back to life twice," Gohan explained further.
"B-b-bu-but, that isn't scientifically possible! Do you hear me, IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!" Komui yelled, grabbing me by tattered fighting gi and shaking me harshly.
"Chief! Snap out of it! The last time I checked, it wasn't scientifically possible to have a weapon for an arm either," I said as I tried to pry him off before he tore my top off of me. I managed to push him away.
"Touché," Allen said, laughing nervously. There was a long, silent pause after that. I shifted my weight awkwardly, taking nervous glances at everyone. Suddenly my eyes started to feel heavy and my body was swaying. Not trusting my own body to keep it up, I leaned up against Gohan for support. He looked at me questionably, but he still shrugged and wrapped his arm around my waist.
"Well," I started, yawning, "It's late, and it's been a long day, and I'm tired, so I think that I'm gonna go to bed," I said, my eyes getting heavier by the minute. Komui's head perked up at that, and began to speak chipperly, making me feel sick.
"Ah! Of course, go! Sleep. Tomorrow you are going to train with General Cross, and then in three days you're gonna go on your first mission!" he said. I nodded, acknowledging that I heard him. "Now remember, that antidote wears off when you sleep. If you feel pain in the morning, put this on your hand, but only one drop. It's a less saturated dosage, so as soon as you take it come straight to my office where I will give you the stronger dose. Oh, and we put another bed in your room, it looks like your friend here is going to be staying for a little while longer!" Komui said with a wink, handing me a small, brown-ish bottle with the foggy antidote inside. I smirked, a snide comment coming to my mind.
"What, you don't trust me enough to give me the real meds? What, you think that I'm gonna try to get stoned off of it?" I said. Lavi, Lenalee, Allen, and Komui giggled while Kanda muttered "baka" under his breath. I giggled too, and then patted Allen on his shoulder as Gohan and I walked back to my, sorry, our room. He still had his arm around my waist as we leisurely sauntered back to our room. I yawned, oh MAN was I tired. With Gohan and I being the same height, I was able to lean into him and put my head on his shoulder. We reached our room about 10 minutes later, with us being completely exhausted it took us a little while to maneuver through the elaborate halls of the Order.
I pulled out the key to the room, and unlocked the door as quickly as I could. Looking around, I could see the four figures of the other exorcists. 'Aw HELL no! Komui did NOT put us all in rooms side-by-side!' I thought as I looked at the others in absolute horror. I sighed, 'Oh well, I'm tired and I don't even care anymore.' Gohan and I burst through the door to find a fully furnished, two-bed luxury room. I gasped in surprise.
The room's walls were painted a deep crimson red and the floor was a gorgeous mahogany color. There were two twin sized beds with blue sheets the same shade of the sash on our gis. The comforter was the same shade of the purple of the rest of our gis. There was an extremely soft rug on the floor that had large triangles in about sixteen different shades of blue. On the left of the front door was a bathroom that had a gigantic stand-in shower, and a jacuzzi tub big enough to fit ten people. There were two beautiful ornate sinks made to look like a shell, with a huge mirror, and the best part was that there was a CD/cassette player/radio in a little hole in the shower, so you could reach out and change the station of the radio or skip a track on a CD or tape. There was a walk-in closet to the right of the front door, I decided to explore that later.
There was also a desk with a huge mountain of textbooks and homework that our mom sent us. I sighed, 'Same old mom'. On the desk was also my cassette tape collection of classic rock, next to it was my CD collection of Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy albums. There were also some knick-knacks that I've managed to collect over the years; snowglobes, pictures of our family before my scar appeared, my white belt from the children's karate classes that I took before mom let Gohan and I train, nostalgic stuff like that. I was stunned, it was the bedroom I had always wanted! Quickly, I ran up to one of the nightstands and put the small bottle of the antidote onto one of the wooden nightstands.
I turned to Gohan, and nearly toppled him over with excitement as I hugged him.
"Oh my Dende, Gohan! This room is amazing! I wonder who did this..." I gasped as I tightened my grip on his neck, excitement overriding my body as I let go of him and walked around with my arms outstretched. "I mean, look at this! These walls, the floor, this carpet! Oh, Gohan, have you felt this carpet? It's like heaven on Earth! And have you seen the beds?! They're so soft! And the colors are amazing!" I said, flopping down onto the bed. I could hear Gohan laughing as he came over and sat down near my head.
"Well, someone seems to be in a better mood," he laughed. I giggled a little and reached up to ruffle his spiky hair a little.
"Oh hush you," I said as I playfully pushed his head over a little. We waited in silence for a little bit while I stared up at the randomly patterned plaster ceiling. After a couple of minutes, I decided to speak.
"Hey Gohan, what are we going to tell the others?"
He gave me this questioning look. "Tell who about what?" he asked.
"The Order, about there being aliens under their roof. What are we going to tell them? They're going to freak! Oh Dende, they might kick me out!" I started to panic. "They might kill me! They may put my head on a cinder block and have Kanda slice my head off, and then have Lenalee squish it with her boots until there is nothing left but blood and brain juice! Oh my Dende, Goha-"
"No, Katie, stop it! They are not going to kill you just for not telling them about the Saiyans or Piccolo, they wouldn't do that!" he yelled.
"But Gohan, I... I, I'm..." I stuttered.
"What? You're what?" he looked at me. Not just a normal, everyday look, but a look that said, say-what-you're-going-to-say, extremely expecting look. And then, understanding. "Oh...you're scared. Katie, it's okay to be scared, there is nothing wrong with it." I couldn't answer. I started choking back sobs. I covered my eyes with my arm to try and cover up the tears slowly running down my face. Gohan moved to sit cross-legged on the bed next to my head. He put his hand on my forehead, smoothing out my hair in a comforting motion, while I continued to pathetically sob. It was fifteen more minutes of non-stop crying before I could finally calm down. After I was done, Gohan pulled me up so that I was facing him. "Hey, listen to me," he told me, "you are the most strong, courageous, intelligent, beautiful, brilliant person I have ever met. The Order is the most lucky group of people ever because you're a member of their team. There is absolutely no reason they would get rid of you, just for not telling them about us. There's no reason to get all worked up about it, so can you please just stop crying?" he asked. I sniffled and nodded. "Good! Now come here and give me a hug Big Sis!" I giggled at my old nickname. Gohan always knew that I wasn't his biological sister, so he started to call me "Big Sis" as a joke. I decided to humor him and give him a hug.
"Hey Gohan?" I asked him timidly, my voice cracking slightly.
"Yeah?"
"...Thank you." And with that Gohan shifted me over on my bed so he could get under the covers. I was a bit confused, but allowed him nonetheless. "Uh, Gohan?"
"Yes?"
"You do know that you have your own bed, right?" I asked.
"Yeah, I know, but you look like you don't want to be alone, so scooch over, I'm sleeping with you tonight." And he was right, I didn't. So, with a heavy sigh, I scooched over on the bed and let him lay down next to me.
"Hey Gohan?" I asked quietly.
He hummed in response.
"Um, does anyone, uh, miss me?" I asked. I had been pondering on this for what seemed like ages now. He turned and stared at me.
"Sis," he started, "of course we miss you. Everyone does!" I was surprised.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Bulma has been hauled up in her lab for days trying to figure out if this kind of stuff is real. Krillin is still pining for 18 to go out with him, and whenever she says no, he whispers, 'Man, if only Katie were here, she could tell me what I'm doing wrong!'." I giggled at that one. Krillin always was a bit clueless when it came to female emotions, and Bulma was absolutely no help when it came to that, so he kind of started running to me for advice. "And Yamcha keeps on sighing, real creepy like!" Gohan said, raising his hands above his head and wiggling his fingers like a witch. "Vegeta has been moodier than usual, I think he misses having someone to hand him his ass day and night." Once again, I giggled.
"Oh, come on Gohan, you know that isn't true. I was never able to beat him."
"Yeah you could! When he came to Earth, you gave him a run for his money!" I sighed in defeat at his comment, Gohan always was good at flattery. "Anyways, mom has been a nightmare! She won't stop hugging me and crying about how her 'precious baby girl has left the nest too soon'. Piccolo is, well, you've seen him. But before he convinced Komui to let us stay, he was a total wreck. He wouldn't talk to anyone, and when he did, he was always angry and snarled at them. It was kind of scary, actually." Gohan shivered. I had to say, it was nice to hear that everyone was so worried about me.
After a while, Gohan seemed to space off, staring at the open closet. "Uh... Katie?" he asked.
"Hm?"
"What's that bag doing there?" I jumped off the bed and walked over the closet, grabbing the big white bag.
"It's my exorcist uniform. Johnny from the science division made one for me, apparently he's really great at sewing. A few girls that I met yesterday helped him out with making it, I haven't opened it yet, I just hope that it doesn't completely suck. I do not want to walk into town after town looking like a fool." I said, walking back to my bed where Gohan was sitting and dropped the bag onto his lap. He looked back up at me, and then thrusted the bag back at me.
"Well then, open it!" he said with an excited laugh. I sighed and grabbed the bag once again, pulling out the large black box. Sitting back down on my bed, I quickly pulled off the top and twirled it around in my hands a few times before I put it down on the floor. Pulling off the many layers of tissue paper, I gasped at the sight of my new uniform. And then, a smirk crept onto my face.
My uniform was black and white, like all of the others' uniforms. The top was a black tank top with white lining around the bottom hem and straps. The bottoms were also black, but they looked like the pants to my gi, baggy and easy to move in. They were held up by a white sash, also like the one on my gi. I turned the tank top around so I could look at the back, it had Piccolo's symbol on the back, along with dad's symbol on the left shoulder blade, so it was small, but visible. Along with the tank top and gi pants, there were white ankle and wrist bands, and a pair of white gloves to cover my hands. There was a pair of pure black skateboarding sneakers, but when I looked inside I saw that they had an extra two inches of heel inside. I smirked, 'Well, now I guess no one can call me short!' I thought. The jacket was a black trench coat with crimson lining inside and crimson cuffs. It had silver, double breasted buttons with my name engraved on the back of them all down the front and white lining around the edge of the coat where the buttons were. There was also bold white lines running up the sides of my coat and around the cross-like emblem of the Black Order.
I squealed with glee. Not only was it the most badass thing that I've ever seen, but it got to be my uniform?! Best. Idea. EVER!
"Wow, awesome uniform Katie! Why don't you try it on?" Gohan exclaimed as he peeked over my shoulder to look at it. I couldn't speak, I just nodded up and down really fast, snatched up my uniform, and ran to the bathroom. There, I stripped down and out of my fighting gi, which was now just a bunch of patches of cloth held together by dirt and blood. I sighed, 'Well, looks like I'm not gonna be using this one anymore. Such a shame, I just got this one, too.'. I threw the now demolished gi into the trash bin and started to pull the tank top over my head. Tugging it down, I realized that it fit perfectly. I then pulled on the black pants and tied the sash around my waist. Once again, it fit perfectly. Next I slipped on the ankle and wrist bands, feeling the tight fabric grip my skin firmly, and then the gloves. I wasn't big on the whole idea of having to wear gloves, but I guessed that it was the only way to get people to talk to me without screaming in terror and trying to kill me with whatever was closest to them. Sighing, I then started to pull on my skateboard sneakers, enjoying the wonderful, blissful smell of new shoes. I tightly tied the black laces and slid on my new coat. I was surprised at how soft the inner lining was, it was like wearing silk! I didn't bother buttoning it up, I always liked not having things completely perfect. Also, it bugged the crap out of Gohan, which was just what I wanted to do then. Smirking at the reflection of myself in the mirror, liking the image of a taller me. Also, the outfit was completely badass. Satisfied, I strode out of the bathroom to the bed where Gohan was still laying down on.
"Oi, look up," I said, pinching the skin of his calf. He grumbled for a few seconds, before sitting upright on the bed. When his eyes fell upon me, the only word that could explain his expression was shell-shocked. "Well, how do I look?" I asked. He just stood up and walked up right in front of me, his lips pinched into a thin line. He then sized me up, looking at me up and down, over and over again.
"You're taller," he commented.
"There're heels in my sneakers," I answered. He nodded, and then proceeded to tug at the silver buttons of my coat, forcing them into the large button holes on the side of my coat.
"You did that on purpose." he accused me.
"Did what on purpose?" I asked with false innocence.
"You didn't button up your coat, and you know that bugs me," he said, a vein popping out on his forehead. I threw my head back in maniacal laughter.
"It doesn't matter, I still have to take it off to sleep," I said. Just then, I realized I had nothing to sleep in. Then I remembered the closet. "Wait here while I go look in the closet for pajamas." I said, bounding off into the walk-in closet. Flipping on the switch, the light inside the closet blipped on. Inside, were all of my clothes from home, my tee shirts, my shorts, my yoga pants, sweaters, sneakers, twenty or so fighting gis, and even the gi that I had that looked like my dad's. My dress from that year's Easter was even there! Rummaging around some more, I came across a small bureau with three drawers, inside of which were my pajamas and undergarments. Silently thanking my mother for thinking ahead, I pulled out a Panic! At the Disco t-shirt and an extremely large pair of drawstring sweatpants. Shutting the door to the closet, I took off my uniform and hung it up. I then put on my pajamas and walked out of the closet.
When I came out, I found Gohan asleep on my bed, curled up in fetal position and hugging his knees. Giggling at his childish position, I carefully lifted him up into my arms and deposited him on his own bed, pulling the covers up to his chin. I then walked back over to my bed and climbed in under the covers. Sighing, I slowly drifted off into the fabulous world of sleep.
*I put this in the story because my dad calls me Katums, I just thought that it would be cute! I could be wrong, though. But hey, It's a sweet nickname.
I am so, so, so, SO sorry that this came out so late, and that I broke my promise about Katie's first mission... GOMEN NASAI! It just ended up with the chapter being too long, and so I cut it into two parts. Thank you guys for being so loyal to the story, and I promise that next chapter WILL BE her first mission (and starting with a dream sequence). 'Till then, see ya!
Katie out.
