Author's Note

Hello once again, everyone. This story has taken a lot of time and effort for me to make it as good as it can be, and I wouldn't have been motivated to complete it without my love for Sonic & My Little Pony, and the support from all of you. Before we proceed to the epilogue, I want to give you a heads up on a few things.

First off, I've actually been glad with the direction I took on giving the characters different designs based on both official and fan art work. It's a part of what motivated me to take more of an imaginative new look instead of simply copying and pasting the very same thing in. What I'm even more happy about is how I've taken a creative risk of changing certain characters' backstories and/or adding to the already existing material, from expanding the moment of how the Equestria Girls came back together to changing Flash Sentry's motivations and character, and making Sally Acorn a sister-figure to Sonic rather than a romantic partner like in the SatAM series or Archie Comics. I'm curious to know, what are your thoughts on these changes I've made and what would you all think if these scenarios happened in the real thing?

Lastly and most importantly, right now I'm working on achieving the goals for my dream career and I'm going to be getting busier and busier. So right now I can't say when or even if I'll be able to continue writing this series. Regardless of my decision, I'm grateful for what I've been able to do here and I'm grateful for your support. Thank you for reading this story and here's to a hopeful future of more to come.

It had been three days since Twilight had left Equestria and followed Sunset into the human counterpart dimension. The pony counterparts of her friends from Canterlot High, along with Princesses Celestia, Luna and Cadence, were waiting anxiously for her return. The portal through the mirror was going to close at any moment.

Within moments before the portal finally closed, a shimmering light shone from the mirror and Twilight stepped through, back in her former alicorn form. Once she was back standing on all fours, everypony in the room was overjoyed to see her. "Twilight!" Fluttershy smiled.

Rainbow flew right up to the Princess with excitement, "You're back!"

Rarity followed as she noticed the crown on her head, "You've got your crown!"

Pinkie popped up next to Twilight and hugged her, "I knew you could do it!"

Applejack wiped away a happy tear from her eye, "Oh, we were so worried."

Though delighted to see her pupil back safe and sound, Princess Celestia asked out of concern, "Sunset Shimmer, is she alright?"

Twilight glanced back at the mirror as she smiled, "I think she's gonna be fine. I left her in good hands."

The ponies raised eyebrows at what Twilight just said as Rainbow asked, "What are hands?"

Suddenly, Spike popped out of the mirror and bumped into Twilight's backside before falling on the floor. He quickly realized that he had turned back into a dragon, and Twilight smiled at him. Then before long, the princess noticed something right next to her hoof. It was the paper that Sonic snuck in. Using the magic in her horn, she levitated the paper in the air and opened it.

The paper had a message written on it, it was a letter addressed to her. Just as she was about to read it, the words started lighting up in a blue glow and a voice familiar to her and Spike began to speak with a faint echo.

"Hey, Twilight. If you're seeing this, then I've made it back home to Mobius with the Chaos Emeralds and I'm sure you've made it home to Equestria with Spike and your crown. Man, it's been quite the adventure we got in just a few days, huh? Heheh."

Twilight and Spike were speechless as to how Sonic managed to give this letter to them just in time. While the other ponies watched and listened out of curiosity, the other princesses in particular seemed intrigued at the mention of the Emeralds.

"Man, to think that we'd both be from different worlds coming to the same one. Either on a mission or because of a mission? Who'd have thought? I'm sure you're gonna be really busy over there, but I just wanna let you know… I'm glad I got to meet you and the others. You've all helped me open up about my past, and I'm glad you did. I dunno how long it'll be, or even if it's possible, but I hope I see you and the others again. Maybe I could even visit you in Equestria. It'd be fun to have some new places to explore. Sayonara, Princess Twilight. Your friend, Sonic the Hedgehog."

After the last words were spoken and Sonic's voice faded, the glow on the paper vanished. Twilight was left quiet after hearing it with small tears in her eyes, but she couldn't help smiling. And neither could Spike as he gave her a comforting hug.

On Sonic's end, it felt like it was all over. After the long, hard battle with Metallix, all of the chaos… everything felt still. No sounds, no noise, no movement. Just nothing but calmness and pure whiteness all around. He had done it. He saved his friends. He saved someone he loved. He had felt happier than he had ever felt before. It almost felt so unreal.

Then there were some sounds that started to be heard. Quiet, distant sounds. Like a calm breeze blowing through the air. And then Sonic could feel himself waking up as he felt a little touch of coldness. He flickered his eyes open to find himself in a room. But not just any room; a room he had been in before.

He felt himself laying on a bed he hadn't laid on in months. The wooden walls and ceiling looked very familiar. Then he noticed something; he felt different again yet the same. He raised his hands to look at them and he saw that he was wearing the original gloves he wore before.

It worked. He was back home on Mobius. As a Mobian hedgehog once again. He sat up and glanced over to the left to see a partial open window at the end of the room with trees and their branches covered in snow outside. The familiarity rose when he saw those particular trees. He stepped off the bed and sped towards the window to get a better look outside, and what he saw made his eyes widen in surprise.

Sonic was back at Tails' workshop on top of the mountain, close to Green Hills down below to the right. All of the ground and mountains around were covered in white snow. He was back where it all began on the day he originally disbanded the team. It surprised him as the last time he was on Mobius, it was a warm summer day in his country. Apparently, he must've been out for a long time after the long battle with Metallix. Now it was winter, and judging by all of the lights he could see lit up down below in Green Hills, it almost had to be Christmas.

Though that day was the last time he set foot here and it made a hurtful memory, he couldn't help feeling joy inside. He was back home and he was right where he wanted to be.

And yet, he still didn't feel completely whole. There was something missing. There was someone missing. He titled his head down and he spoke under his breath to himself… "Rainbow."

A small tear formed in his eye; he missed her already. So much. And even though it was all for a short time that they got to know each other, it hurt so much more than he thought it would to say goodbye. And not only that, but the losses of Bunnie, Antoine and Rotor… they still haunted him. It was going to take a very long time for Sonic to deal with his PTSD. And he knew that now it was time. Time to talk about it with people he knew. And he knew exactly who to begin with. But before that, there were some others he wanted to see first.

"Sonic, you're awake!"

Sonic flinched as that voice was immediately recognized. He swiftly turned around to see that it was none other than his adoptive brother at the door, "Tails!"

Tails was wearing a white winter scarf around his shoulder for the cold weather. Sonic suddenly sped forward to him and pulled him right into a strong hug, much to his little brother's relieved laughter. The two shared their hug for a long moment, before Sonic broke it and shed a tear, "You have no idea how good it is to see you, buddy."

Tails smiled as he patted Sonic's shoulder, "We were all so worried about you. Not the first time you've disappeared on us, but never have you gone off to a different dimension. Man, I'm just so glad you're home."

Momentarily, there was the sound of footsteps coming in through the door. Sonic looked over to see that it was none other than his other friends; Knuckles, Amy, Silver, Blaze, Cream and Cheese. All of them were wearing their own winter clothes for the season.

Cream was the first one of the team to come up to Sonic with joy, "Mr. Sonic!"

Sonic smiled as he and Cream took a moment to hug. Cheese cheered as they hugged Sonic's arm, which made the hedgehog chuckle as he patted their head. Amy was the next to approach and simply smiled as she hugged Sonic while shedding a tear, "I missed you, Sonic."

Sonic smiled as he hugged Amy back, "I missed you too, Amy."

Knuckles got a turn to approach. He simply offered a handshake to which Sonic gladly accepted with both of them sharing a chuckle. Then Silver came up for his turn with Sonic and they shared a hug while giving each other a pat on the back. Finally, Blaze stepped forward and she too shared a hug with Sonic.

"Welcome home, Sonic," Blaze said as she and Sonic broke the hug, then she rested her hand on his shoulder as she slightly shifted her tone to be more serious, "Now then, are you feeling alright?"

Sonic chuckled, "Yeah, I feel so much better than I ever have…"

Sonic then lowered his head with the shadows covering his face; it was time to tell his friends the truth about his past. He was getting a feeling that their reactions were probably not going to be good, but they deserved to know. He took a deep breath and raised his head to look at his friends.

"Listen… Everyone, I'm so sorry for everything that happened that day. I never wanted to disband the team. I just wanted to protect you and I didn't want…"

But Sonic paused when he saw Tails raising his hand. The fox calmly responded, "Yeah, we know."

Sonic was left surprised; how did they know? Amy was quick to answer that question, "Shadow and Gage told us after you came back. About what happened to Bunnie, Antoine and Rotor all those years ago. And about your breakdown when you were in that other dimension."

Silver took a step forward as he added, "We don't blame you for what you did. We never did. If any of us were in your shoes, we'd have probably done the same thing."

Sonic sighed as he held his arm in shame, "Yeah, and it was a stupid way for me to honour their memories."

Amy put her hand over her chest as she looked at Sonic with regret on her face, "And I'm also sorry for how I went off at you that day. I can't even believe I did that. I guess I still have some anger issues to work on, huh?"

Sonic lowered his head again and looked away. Even with this kind of response from his friends, he still felt guilty about hiding his past from them all along. But then he felt a hand touching his shoulder and looked up to see that it was Amy of all people. The pink hedgehog simply smiled as she asked, "From now on, no more secrets. Deal?"

Sonic simply smiled as he nodded, "Deal."

Knuckles crossed his arms, "So what happened to you in that other world? Other than you apparently becoming a human?"

Silver chuckled as he added to this, "With you still having hedgehog ears?"

Sonic chuckled to Silver's joke as he answered, "Quite a lot. Had quite a few fights with Eggman and Metal, which you might know is now Metallix, right?"

The group nodded to acknowledge this. Sonic went on, "Well, despite that, I actually did have some fun. I got to meet some good people, I made some friends, and… well…"

Sonic scratched the back of his head as he felt a little embarrassed to say what he wanted to say. Blaze, however, smiled as she could tell by the expression on Sonic's face what he had to say, "You found someone special."

Sonic simply nodded, "Yeah, I did. Someone I can't ever forget."

Amy raised her hands with interest, "Ooh, what's her name?"

"Rainbow. Rainbow Dash."

"What's she like?" Cream asked.

Sonic chuckled, "She's athletic, bold, brave, but also loyal and kind. I think you'd all like her."

Sonic then let out a quiet sigh as he looked back out the window; just thinking about her made him miss her so much. It hurt him knowing they were universes apart from each other. Then he felt a hand resting on his shoulder and he looked to see it was Tails, "You miss her, don't you?"

Sonic nodded as he kept looking outside, "Yeah, I do."

"Well," Tails decided to make an offer, "So long as GUN isn't aware, maybe I can figure out a way to duplicate Eggman's dimensional transporter. So that you can go back and visit her."

"Yeah, I'd like that," Sonic looked back at his brother with a smile before glancing over at his other friends, "And maybe anyone who'd be interested can come along for the ride."

The group all had their own responses to this offer, each showing a sigh of interest. Amy in particular was the one to answer, "I think we'd like that."

"But first things first," Sonic said, "I think it's time I finally got back to some people I should've met a long time ago."

Sonic looked over to Tails and was about to ask him for a favour, but Tails smirked as he knew exactly what his brother wanted to ask, "I had a hunch you'd say that. That's why we're headed to Green Hills."

Sonic was stunned by Tails' proactive planning, but smiled nonetheless. The two brothers looked down at Green Hills out the window as snowflakes started to fall. The evening sunlight peeked through the clouds as the horizon of the sky shone bright pink and orange.

Green Hills was very lively for the holidays. Buildings lit up their Christmas lights, cars drove by with supplies, and civilians were enjoying their time with friends and family. The light from the evening sun shone over the town as the snowflakes fell from the clouds in the sky.

A sheriff's police car was parked on the side of the road by the police station. Standing right next to it was none other than Sheriff Tom Wakaouski. Eating a donut. As he was enjoying his snack, he looked over to his right and saw something out in the distance. Two blurs of energy coming along the street at quick speeds. The sheriff immediately recognized them as he called out, "Hey, Sonic! Hey, Tails!"

"Hey, Donut Lord!" Sonic called back as he sped down the road with Tails flying right behind him.

On the side of the nearest mountain was Green Hills' scenic post with the town's most popular restaurant; Green Hillside. Both inside and outside the restaurant, the tables were packed with civilians. Everyone had just made it to their reservations and started ordering their meals. Many specialized fires were lit to keep the outdoor area warm.

However, there was one group that didn't head to their table. They stood by the railing of the scenic post, watching the peaceful town of Green Hills below. Seeing all of the Christmas lights turn on as the sun set and the moon began to rise on the other side of the sky.

The group of three people was none other than Sonic's mother Aleena, King Nigel and a now 19-year-old Sally Acorn. All three of them wore winter coats and gear for the cold and held a warm drink. Nigel's auburn-red hair had shifted into a white tone.

As the snow continued to fall from the clouds above, Sally let out a sigh as she held her scarf. She lowered her head as she closed her eyes; a tear shed as she was lost in thought. About one thing; Sonic. To this day, she hadn't seen her brother-figure ever since he went on his own when they were still children. She felt a hand touch her shoulder, and she looked to see Aleena nodding to her while also frowning.

While the group stood by the railing and looked on at Green Hills below, two figures walked into the air and stood a distance from them. As a light breeze blew by, Sally raised her head as she seemed to sense their presence. She turned around to see who it was, and her eyes widened the very moment she saw the people. Aleena and Nigel noticed that Sally had turned away from the view and they looked over at where she was staring. They too were immediately left in silence when they saw who was there.

Sonic and Tails stood before them. Both of them were wearing a scarf and winter gloves. Though Sally, her father and Aleena acknowledged Tails' presence, they all had their eyes locked on Sonic. Even after it had been over an entire decade since they ever saw each other face to face, they recognized his face, his eyes, his smile. The only thing that was different was that he was older, taller and had scars to show that he had been through a lot.

No one said a word at this moment. There was nothing but silence as the snowflakes hovered from the sky. Sonic shyly smiled at his mother, sister-figure and godfather, nervous about how they would react to seeing him again after all this time.

Sally was the first to move. She slowly walked forward and approached her Sonic. Once in arms length, she reached out and placed one hand on Sonic's cheek while the other examined the scar over his eye. Tears built up in her eyes as she grew a bright smile feeling indescribably happy to see her brother-figure in person after years of being apart. Sonic couldn't hold back his tears either as he smiled back at his sister-figure.

Sonic and Sally immediately embraced in a hug, holding each other tightly. No word could describe the happiness in the air between them. It was a long time coming, but they were finally able to see each other again. Their joyful tears ran down their faces.

Before long, Tails approached them and joined them in the hug, much to their delight. Sally gave him a pat on the head, which made him smile. Sonic looked over at his mother and godfather. Aleena and Nigel only smiled with joyful tears as they too joined in on the reunion hug.

The group remained in their hug for what felt like a lifetime. At this moment, there was no better feeling. When they all broke their embrace, they wiped their tears away as Nigel held his hand out to their table. All smiling, they headed over to their seats to have dinner. Sonic put his arms over Tails and Sally's shoulder which made them both chuckle. And as the sky turned into its nightly colour with the moon glowing brightly and the stars glimmering, one star shot across the air at high speeds.

At long last, Sonic was not only back home on Mobius, but he was home with his family.

Meanwhile, at a secret location on an island far out in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean closest to the United Federation set in Canada…

GUN Headquarters was lit up bright in the night. Troopers were transferring Egg Soldiers through the yards either to their cells or to court for questioning. Airships flew around the island, watching for any potential intruders while boats on the water flew to and fro.

Deep underground were maximum security prison cells holding Mobius' most dangerous criminals and villains to date. These cells were separated from each other in domes surrounded by water with the only possible exit accessible by portable tunnels. Many of these inmates were locked down here due to either greatly enhanced physical abilities or intelligence.

In one of these cells was the Zeti, Zavok. He had a pair of highly advanced gauntlets locked onto his arms which suppressed his power. He grumbled to himself as he paced back and forth in his cage. In another cell nearby by Zavok's left were two silhouetted male Mobian skunks, one bigger than the other and missing his tail. They were playing games of Connect Four as they had little else to do and were too bored to even care. In the cell on the right were the Nack the Weasel, Bean the Dynamite and Bark the Polar Bear aka the Hooligans. They were playing Cards.

In one cell far away from them, there was a silhouetted female Mobian fox. She remained seated on her bed, calmly reading over a newspaper relating to the day Sonic and Eggman returned to Mobius with the doctor finally being arrested for good. When looking at the picture of Sonic himself, she couldn't help letting out a chuckle.

"Not bad, love. Not bad."

But below these particular cells, surrounded almost completely by earth and steel was Dr. Eggman himself. He sat on his bed with his elbows resting on his knees and his chin on his hands. He remained still, silent, barely moving as he simply pondered to himself.

"Sonic the Hedgehog, how I hate him… and how I hate him for everything he's done. All of that loathing into putting all of that effort into that Dimensional Transporter, and he still won. Now nearly all of my equipment and soldiers are under GUN's custody. Metal Sonic, now going by his new name, Metallix is in quarantine as they apparently can't figure out how to return him to his original form. And yet…"

Eggman took a moment to stand up and hold his hands behind his back, "My plans to find the cure to NIDS remain unchanged. Because no matter what they take away from or how deep they lock me underground, I will find a way to escape and I will resume my mission. Because from this moment on, I will no longer hold anything back. And once I've made Mobius into a utopia worth living in, one where the world isn't terminally sick… Sonic's new friends in that other world, including his precious new girlfriend, will be enslaved forever."

The doctor then raised one hand and put his finger over his chin, "But first things first… what happened to Orbot and Cubot?"

Going all the way back to the other dimension, Orbot and Cubot were both sitting on a rock a few feet away from the road. Their armour had gotten dirty with scraps.

Orbot laid down on the ground as he rested his head on his palm with a sigh, "I think it's safe to say that the doctor's not coming to pick us up."

"Well, the best we can do is get used to this place," Cubot responded, laying upside-down on the rock.

Momentarily, Cubot looked over and noticed a tall, shirtless man with a tie standing next to him and holding a sign for some sort of sale. He called up to the man, "Excuse me, sir. You look like a scary and intimidating leader. Want us to be your sidekicks?"

Almost immediately, the man looked down at Cubot with angry eyes and a snort. He suddenly grabbed the robot by the head and held him right in front of his face as he asked in an angered tone, "Little square thing, are you making fun of the way Iron Will looks?!"

"He seems nice," Cubot looked back over at Orbot, apparently unbothered by the situation he was in.

Orbot just sighed and shook his head, "I doubt this life's gonna be any better than the one with Eggman…"

Elsewhere…

In a mysterious red-and-black space-like zone, a pair of orbs of energy hovered in the air. They showed various events that had happened both on Mobius and the other Earth. Including Sonic and his friends' fights against Eggman and Metallix.

In front of the orbs was a black silhouetted figure, sitting down as they observed the visions inside them. They had their hand on their chin as they looked particularly at two of the visions; one with Sonic and one with Strike.

Wasting no time, the figure slowly stood up and the two orbs showing Sonic and Strike hovered towards them. They spoke in a distorted male voice, "So… it seems that Strike has arrived on Earth Dimension-2010 due to that multidimensional power that nearly destroyed reality. And that other warrior is the one who prevented the collapse. Hmm…"

The figure raised his hand towards the Sonic orb and let its energy hover into his palm. With an exhale, he opened his demonic black eyes with red glowing irises, "Ahh, so he comes from Dimension-1991? That is one of many worlds known as Mobius. And his name is… Sonic the Hedgehog?"

A sinister smirk slowly grew onto the figure's face, "How very interesting…"
