"I will announce the results right now. The score is simply the combined points of each discipline." Aizawa paused for a moment. "I will summarize the results as it would be a waste of time to explain each one individually."
A hologram appeared and June read through the results quickly.
She didn't have to do much searching, her name was right next to the 5th place:
5th June Trill
The girl was pleased with herself.
Her eyes wandered to the last place: 20th Izuku Midoriya.
Quickly, she glanced over to him. Izuku looked devastated when he saw that he got last place.
"The expulsion was a lie," Aizawa said dryly.
The class was shocked and couldn't get a single word out. Mr Aizawa had a broad grin on his face.
"A rational deception to get the best out of you and your quirks"
"WHAAAAT?" Half the class was horrified.
A girl with a black ponytail, named Momo Yaoyorozu, spoke up: "It was obvious that it was a lie... All you have to do is think about it." Momo put one of her arms on her hip.
"This concludes the test..." Aizawa said calmly.
He was just about to leave. "The timetable is in the classroom... Have a look at it when you get back.."
And with that he was already gone, leaving the class behind.
And after a while the first day of school has already ended...
June walked through the gate of the school to make her way back home.
There she saw two of her classmates walking to the train station together: Tenya and Izuku.
June wanted to make friends with the two, but just as she was about to do so, a girl ran past her. It was Ochaco, she must not have noticed June at all.
"Hello! Hey you two! I have to go to the train station too! Wait~" Ochaco called out to them.
She waited a few moments for the trio to be out of sight.
Her shoulders slumped a little in disappointment, but the look in her eyes remained blank.
For a while she just stood there, her eyes hidden behind the blue goggles.
June looked around.
Everywhere around her where students, who made their way home together.
She was the only one who was alone.
For a moment she looked back at the school and saw her class teacher walking past a window.
The two exchanged a quick look and Aizawa was quickly gone.
June looked at her phone, she had to hurry up if she wanted to catch the next train to go home.
Within 20 minutes she was already home.
June slowly opened the front door of the house where she lived with her adoptive parents and took off her shoes.
They were both pretty busy pro-heroes, so no one was there yet.
The light went on and she walked up the stairs to go to her room on the first floor.
Once the girl was there, she placed her light blue backpack next to her desk.
June's room was nothing special, it was clean and tidy.
A big soft bed, with Light blue bedding, a desk and a small closet took up most of the room's space.
The walls of her room were lined with bookshelves filled with many, many books.
Many of them were bookmarked and covered with sticky notes sticking out.
Because not only was she interested in reading, she was also interested in learning.
The main colors of her room were light blue and white. Even her floor, which was made of PVC, had a slightly lighter wood-like look to it.
June looked at her white desk. Where an open notebook was lying.
Her eyes darted briefly over one of the sentences.
"It is extremely important to make friends in my class. Normal teenagers have friends"
Was written there in June's neat handwriting.
She closed it carefully and quickly changed out of her school uniform.
Her favorite clothes were laying neatly folded on the chair near her desk.
She liked to dress a little cute, despite her plain room and stoic personality.
A pale blue, airy dress clung to her body.
It looked very comfortable. But it was still cute.
There were a couple of bows on the sleeves, and ruffles adorned the lower part of the dress.
Simple but cute.
She took a book from the bookshelf and sat down at her desk, which was tidy and neat.
The blonde girl took a sheet of paper and a pen from a drawer and opened the book.
"The book of human emotions: An encyclopedia from anger to wanderlust by Tiffany Watt"
An hour or two later, after she had started reading, her stomach began to growl.
June looked at the clock.
It was almost time for her adoptive parents to be home for dinner.
Luckily for June, she hadn't been given any homework for the first day of school.
So she went downstairs where the kitchen, her adopted parents' room and the living room was.
It was getting dark outside, so she turned on the lights.
The bright light from the lamps reflected off from June's blue goggles.
The girl settled down on the sofa and after a while she heard the front door open.
It was her adoptive father who entered.
A few drops of water could be seen running down the front of his jacket. It looked as if it had been raining outside. He quickly removed his coat and hung it up.
Into the living room came the tall man with tanned skin and light gray eyes: "And Junie? How did you like your first day at school?" he asked as he shook the drops of water out of his silver hair.
There was a softness to his gaze and he looked straight at June.
She looked over at him, "Atsushi, welcome back. I had a pretty good day today," she said in a monotone voice.
He tilted his head and let out a sigh. "I hope you managed to make a few new friends, sweet pea. Are you hungry? You sure are, huh?"
He strolled into the kitchen and called over to her.
"I'll make dinner then."
The opening fridge door could be heard clanging.
"In celebration of your first day at school, how about I'll make your favorite dish, soup dumplings. All right?"
With a glance around the corner, he waited for an answer.
"Yes. Please," said June in her usual hollow voice.
And her adoptive father disappeared into the kitchen again.
After a while, the smell of soup dumplings filled the air.
The door to the front room opened again and a second figure came in.
"Honey, June! I'm back."
A woman's voice was heard sighing.
She took off her wet jacket and sat on the couch beside June. She had a bit of an exhausted and tired look on her face.
Holding a large bowl of hot soup and soup dumplings, Atsushi came out of the kitchen. In his other hand he had three plates with spoons on them.
He put the on the dinner table and the family began to eat.
The two adoptive parents chatted happily with each other, as usual and made sure to involve their daughter.
But as always, June only had short sentences ready.
After a while everyone was full and the woman cleaned up the table
"Sayuri darling... let me do that," Atsushi said to his wife.
"June, do you want to help?" June and Atsushi both helped to clear the table and washed the dishes together in silence.
After that, everyone said good night and June made her way back to her room.
As soon as she got there, she turned on the small white lamp on her desk.
Opening the notebook, she sat down and picked up a pen. June started writing.
"Dear diary, Today was my first day of school at Yuei. I met many new people. I really hope this time I can make friends. My class teacher seemed nice. I feel a little bit... Is it joy? I think joy is the correct term for it. It's nice to feel it. Even if it's nothing big. "
June paused for a moment and went to look out. It was pitch black outside by now. Then she continued:
"Tomorrow I have another appointment with the therapist after school. I wonder what she wants to talk to me about. I think I'll read a bit more and then go to bed. Good night, diary"
And then she closed the journal.
She picked up another book and sat down in the comfortable light blue chair that was next to her desk.
Slowly but surely, she began to notice that she was getting more and more tired.
The blonde girl put the book back on the shelf and quickly changed into her pyjamas.
Then she made her way to the bathroom to get ready for bed.
June combed her long blonde hair and brushed her teeth.
A quick yawn and then she was off to bed.
June reached for the light switch, her room was now completely dark.
Finally, she took off her blue goggles and put them on the bedside table next to her.
A few minutes later she was asleep. A gentle rain was trickling against the window, making a faint sound...
Drip... Drop...drip...
It had been an exhausting day for the girl, she had earned her sleep.
Her dreams were filled with nothing but emptiness.
In the background, soft white noise echoed.
Not once did she wake up.
The room was filled with silence. Only the soft breathing of the child and the sound of rain could be heard.
When her alarm clock went off the next morning, she sat up as usual in her bed and took her goggles from the bedside table.
She quickly put them on and got out of bed.
After getting ready, she went back to school.
This time she really wanted to talk to her new classmates and make friends.
The first two lessons flew by and she was given her first homework. When the bell rang for the break, she looked back with a blank expression.
She had already learned a lot of names and was trying to memories them.
Many had already started to get to know each other.
June had the feeling that she would have to hurry if she was going to find a group of friends.
She slowly got up and looked at one of the back seats where Momo Yaoyorozu was sitting. June made her way over to her.
After a moment, she stood in front of the black-haired girl and looked down at her.
There was a hint of surprise in her expression.
"Hello, I'm June. Nice to meet you, Momo," she said blankly.
Momo replied with a nervous smile, "Nice to meet you too. Is there anything in particular that you want from me?"
June was still looking at her with a blank expression on her face. "How are you?" Her voice was like a textbook quote, a bit dry. A bit dry. Momo was a bit nervous and had no idea what to make of June's blank face.
"I'm great, and you?" Momo said in her polite way.
"I'm fine," June replied.
Momo looked around. "So, what are you going to do during the break? We have 15 minutes of free time".
June blinked, but there was no change in her face.
"I was going to go and talk to my new classmates. Get to know each other better. Make friends." June answered dryly.
Momo started playing with a strand of her hair nervously and took a deep breath.
"Ah yes, that makes sense. Good idea June"
There was a moment of silence and then the blonde girl started to speak again.
"Your quirk is quite interesting. You must know a lot to be able to use it. You seem intelligent."
Momo was surprised. Despite her blank expression, June sounded polite.
"My quirk? No, it's really nothing special. But thank you very much. Your Light Beast quirk is also really interesting." Momo said with a smile.
"Thanks," June's reply was short.
There were a few more moments of awkward silence between them.
Momo noticed that she still looked expressionless. She didn't really know how to continue the conversation.
It felt more like a job interview than the beginning of a new friendship.
Then Momo just decided to be honest and said: "I'm sorry, but it's hard to have a conversation with you when your face always seems so...blank."
She knew it wasn't a very nice thing to say, but Momo had the feeling that it would be better to be honest than to continue the conversation in the same way.
"I'm sorry. I still need a little practice with emotions." June said honestly, unaffected by the unpleasant statement.
Momo felt a small ache in her heart and seemed to regret what she had said. This was going to be a bumpy start of a friendship.
"Oh no. I am sorry. That was a little harsh. It's just..." she paused for a moment and looked up at June from her seat, "...I have a difficult time understanding what you're feeling or what you want just by looking at your blank stare. But that's no excuse, I should have been more understanding and considerate."
Momo smiled a little. "Let me make it up to you. How about we drink some tea in the cafeteria during the next break? I'll invite you"
June nodded, "I do like tea. Thanks for the invitation."
Momo seemed to like this statement, she smiled and put her hands together gently. "I'm glad."
And the bell rang for the next period.
After a while it was already time again: The second break.
Momo got up, took the initiative and walked over to June's seat.
"So...My offer for a cup of tea still stands." Momo said with a smile.
June gave a nod and then they both made their way to the cafeteria.
There they sat down in silence again.
"Is there any tea you like June?" Momo asked.
June nodded, "I like to drink lavender or chamomile tea."
After a moment, the black haired girl returned holding two teacups.
"Here, lavender tea. I hope you like it." Momo smiled and took a seat.
"I went for a cup of black tea."
She paused for a moment.
"Again, sorry for my behavior during the last break."
June sipped her tea, her blue goggles fogging up a little.
In a calm voice, she replied. "It's fine. I'm not mad at you."
Momo seemed relieved now that June wasn't upset.
There was another awkward silence for a moment.
Finally, Momo broke the silence again and had a look at June.
"So. Um... what do you usually do in your spare time?" she asked in an attempt to get the conversation going.
June answered: "I read a lot in my free time."
Momo nodded: "And...what do you like reading? Novels? Or something else?"
June shook her head. "It's mostly non-fiction."
The black-haired girl shifted in her chair, a little bit uncomfortably. The answers were probably too short for her taste and didn't give her a lot of information. It was a little odd.
June was reminded of what her adoptive mother had once told her: If you want to make friends, you will benefit from giving longer answers and asking questions back. Show them you care about their lives.
Taking a short, deep breath, the blonde girl said: "I like to read books about everything. But most of all, I like to read books about psychology. How to deal with emotions. How to make friends. But I also like to read about other things. Whatever interests me at the moment," June said in a hollow voice.
"Do you enjoy reading too?" June asked back with their usual dry voice.
Momo was very excited and her eyes lit up.
"I love to read!" she said happily. "Reading and learning is what I like to do the most! Lexicons, encyclopedias. All that knowledge out there! It's so exciting!"
She seemed to keep going on and on about how much she loved reading. June listened quietly, as usual. She nodded a few times.
After a while the doorbell rang for the next lesson and they had both finished their tea.
