Christmas is still waiting…

A/N: I'M SO SORRY FOR MAKING YOU WAIT A YEAR FOR A LOUSY UPDATE ON THIS STORY WHICH IS ALWAYS IN THE BACK OF MY MIND! My life has suddenly got really hectic: I left college, I got a job, I left my job and now I have a brilliant new job which pretty takes up ALL of my time. But I promise that in 2016, you will get your Drarry wedding! Sadly, this post will not include that, but it will include what the dynamic duo have been doing while I've been AWOL. Thanks so much for sticking by me and I hope you enjoy it; my fiction writing is a bit rusty… Love you guys!

"Do you remember when you proposed to me?"

"No… Really, did I? Was I at least romantic?" Harry asked with sarcasm. "Yes of course I remember. Why?"

"Because that was two years ago and we are yet to be married."

Draco glared at his partner from behind his book.

Harry sighed, put down his mobile phone on their cherry oak coffee table and gestured Draco to come and sit next to him. Draco closed his book and put it on the same coffee table, and dragged his throw along with him and curled into Harry. It was a cold winter night, and both had been glad to have a Saturday night to themselves during Christmas season. Harry took the throw and wrapped them both up in it; they held each other's hands as Draco rested his head into the crook of Harry's shoulder.

"You knew that adopting would take ages for two gay men, and you insisted that they be part of the wedding. Adopting twins is even longer!"

Draco pouted. "I know, but I just want Jade and Jody to be ours so we can get married and be a beautiful family."

Chuckling, Harry pulled Draco's hands out from under the throw and fiddled with them. "Always worried about aesthetics my fiancé."

"Well they are beautiful! And you aren't too bad yourself, even if your hair is peppered with grey," Draco said.

"Hey!" Harry turned towards Draco and looked down. "You said you liked they grey last week!"

"That was last week darling… You know I'm fickle."

"Oh god why, am I gonna marry you then? You might change your mind about me after four months…"

For that, Harry earned an almighty slap round the head. "Ow! You git," he said.

They sat in companionable silence for five minutes. Harry was thinking about their future life as a family: giving Jade and Jody their first 'learn-to-fly' brooms; having water fights with them, Rose and Teddy in the garden on a hot summer day, while Draco got considerably drunk on the decking with Hermione and Pansy; tucking them up for their first Christmas together – next year – and then watching them open up their mountains of presents which Harry will, no doubt, object to but Draco would slip under the tree in the morning.

The dark-haired man smiled as he imaged all of their lives together, almost bringing himself to tears with the thought of his children being at the wedding between himself and the love of his life.

Meanwhile, Draco was thinking about the same. The children who they had picked – or who they had become enamoured with on first sight – were twin boys Jade and Jody. The two men had originally thought about surrogacy but had changed their mind when they found out the number of magical children in care.

They boys were 3 years old, from magical parents – the father had died from magic poisoning, and their mother had committed suicide shortly after. Although they had been through such traumatic events, they were always smiling and giggling.

Jade had white blond hair, and looked like he could be Draco's biological son. He was quiet; he preferred to talk to his brother, but had surprisingly opened up to Harry and Draco around the time of their fourth visit to their foster home. His brother, Jody, was loud and boisterous, but not mean. His cheekiness would probably translate to charm in later life.

Jody was a metamorphmagus – however at the age of three, he had only mastered how to change his hair colour, eye colour and the shape of his nose. Sometimes his innate magic took over and he would be walking around with magenta hair and a duckbill for hours, before changing back to his default dark brown hair.

The way the twins looked had actually factored into Harry and Draco's choice, as they wanted to make it easier for their child, or children, to feel part of the family. No-one apart from Harry and Draco had met the twins, but they had seen photos and were raring to meet them. Rose was about a year younger than them, and Harry had already chosen Ron, Teddy, Neville, George and Dean to be their godparents. Draco had no qualms with this, as he knew how important Sirius was to Harry, and how important Harry was to Teddy.

"Harry?" Draco broke the silence.

"Yes Draco?"

"Seeing as we aren't married, what name will we give to the twins?"

"I had actually thought about that… And the name we're going to use after the wedding."

Draco waited for Harry's answer. Harry looked down again at the face of his fiancé.

"Oh, erm, I was thinking Malfoy-Potter? It uses both of our names and that way, we get to make a new family crest."

Draco brought his hands up to Harry's face and kissed him.

"You really are the chosen one aren't you? With all these brilliant ideas, I've really fallen on my feet being with you." Draco winked at Harry.

Harry laughed and brought his partner closer to him. His hands were just about to make their way down to Draco's crotch when his mobile began vibrating against the table.

"Don't answer it!" Draco whined.

"Baby I have to, it might be Kingsley."

When Harry picked up the phone, he saw the contact, and did a double take.

"It's Harriet."

At this, Draco's ears pricked up.

"Harriet Dwyer?"

"Yeah."

Harry stared at his phone, confused as to why their adoption officer was ringing them at nine o'clock in the evening. He answered the phone.

"Hello Harriet. Is everything okay?"

"Hi Harry, sorry I didn't interrupt you did I?" She founded frantic.

"No it's fine, what's up?" Harry shot a look at a bemused Draco.

"Well everything's fine, it's just that Jade and Jody decided to throw and tantrum unless they saw you right now. I've had their foster mother on the phone, and I could hear them in the background shouting both of your names.

"So I've been on the phone for the past hour with the Magical Adoption Board, pleading the case that the boys should placed with you before Christmas, and they've accepted it! I'll be bringing the boys over in an hours time.

"Sorry to spring this upon you, but the twins are really adamant! The only reason the board hasn't finalised everything before now is because the head of it is a known homophobic bigot, but he's had some bad press recently and could do with the good word, which is a good thing for you!"

Harry just stared agape at his fiancé.

"Harry? Harry, are you there?"

This pulled Harry out of his almost catatonic state.

"Yes, sorry Harriet. That's so brilliant, thank you so much. We'll see you soon. Bye."

Harry hung up and stared at the phone in his hand. Draco was too impatient for Harry's dramatics.

"Harry, what did she say?"

The black-haired man looked up at the man he loved and smiled.

"We're getting them. Tonight. Harriet's dropping off the twins tonight."

Draco screamed and ran into Harry, and they alternated between kissing and smiling at each other, and whispering 'I love you' for about ten minutes.

A thought brought Draco out of his euphoria.

"Shit! I haven't got the room ready!"

The room Draco had presented to Harry at Easter had been touched up during the adoption process, with the removal of the cot after the surrogacy idea was thrown out, and the addition of two child-size beds, with a mixture of crimson and serpent green accessories added to the white room.

Draco rushed up to the room without another word to Harry; he was left standing in the middle of their overly large living room, thinking about how in a few days, there would be toys strewn across the room, and food smeared on the walls.

The blond upstairs pulled his wand from his jumper sleeve and magicked up a string of magic-powered fairy lights and rested them on the windowsill in the children's room. He remade the already perfect bed sheets, and cast scouring spells to get rid of every speck of dust.

Back downstairs, Harry text Hermione, Neville and Dean that the boys were to be arriving tonight. Hermione would tell the Weasley's and the other two would tell their respective partners that they were to be godparents soon.

Harry thought about everyone meeting the boys tomorrow at a lunch, and reminded himself to run the idea past Draco and the twins. He already felt like they were his, and he wanted everyone in his family to feel like it too.

He looked up to see Draco rushing across the mezzanine level of their living room towards the stairs, and then heavily and quickly, run down them.

"Christmas presents!?"

To anyone else, Draco's outburst would have seemed strange, but Harry could decipher his nonsense.

What Draco meant was that the presents they had bought for Jade and Jody weren't under the tree as they thought they wouldn't have the boys before Christmas.

Draco stood at the bottom of the stairs panting, as he watched Harry calmly walk over to one of the cupboards in their living room, and pull out a sack of presents. He then walked toward the nine-foot tree that Draco had insisted on and arranged the presents around the bottom with the others. Draco frowned.

"We're going to have to go and buy some more now. It doesn't look enough."

Harry sighed. "Okay fine Draco, just relax. They'll be here soon."

No sooner had Harry stopped speaking, the doorbell rang. The two men looked at each other and nodded. Harry walked towards the double door and unlocked it. He opened it, and on the other side stood a slightly bedraggled, red-haired woman and two small children in pyjamas, slippers, and coats. They both looked up at Harry.

Harry bent down to their level and smiled.

"Hi guys. I've been hearing that you've been causing a fuss tonight."

Jade looked toward the ground and Jody giggled.

"Well do you want to come in?"

They both nodded, and after being gestured to by Harriet, walked past Harry into the vast room. They both gasped.

"Thank you so much Harry," Harriet said. "Do you mind if I come in a go over the legal stuff?"

Harry ushered her in. "No of course not, I'll make you a cup of tea too, it's freezing out there!"

He let Harriet walk in and then shut the door. He looked into the room to see Jody lying on the rug in front of the fire, looking up to the ceiling, and Jade standing by the staircase, looking around. Harriet had sat on one of the deep sofas, and kept brushing he skirt, as if she felt she was dressed inapprpraitely to be in a such a beautiful home.

Draco was watching Jade, and walked towards him.

"Hey Jade, you can get a better view when you're bigger, do you want to come up here?"

Jade nodded and Draco bent down and picked the little boy up. As he did, the boy giggled. Draco laughed.

"Oh you like that do you?"

Draco rested the boy on his hip and began tickling him, making him giggle even more. The peals of laughter echoed throughout the room. Harriet looked over and her worried expression softened, and Jody sat up from his gazing position, and looked at his brother.

"Jody, do you want to come into the kitchen and help me make some tea?" Harry called, not wanting for the other boy to feel left out.

"Yeah!"

The little boy ran over, into Harry's arms. The man walked into the kitchen, carrying the little boy, and set him down on the table.

"Now stay there please."

He boiled the kettle and made three teas and put them on the tray. Jody was still sat on the table, watching Harry bustle around the kitchen in content. Harry picked up Jody again and levitated the tray into the living room. He walked slowly into the room and lowered it down onto the coffee table.

"There you go Harriet. I remembered how you like it, yours is the yellow mug."

Harry sat down on the sofa, with Jody sat on his lap sucking his thumb.

Draco, who was still playing with Jade by the stairs, noticed that Harry was back, and carried the other boy over to the seating area and sat down next to Harry.

Harriet took a sip of her tea, and put it on a coaster on the table.

"First of all, I'd like to thank you for being so adjustable to taking the boys as soon as possible. So how this is going to work is similar to the muggle way of adopting.

"Jade and Jody have to live with you for ten weeks before you can legally file for an adoption court order. This shows the child's new name and replaces the birth certificate. It also takes away the responsibility from anyone other than you both."

"For the first few months, I will come to visit here, seeing how everyone's doing, and how the children feel. And then after that, and the court order, they are yours to keep!"

Harriet chuckled as Harry and Draco held each other's hands on the sofa. The boys on their laps had all but fallen asleep. Harriet noticed this.

"So if everything's okay, I'm going to go now, let everyone get settled in! You have your number if you need me."

Draco looked at Harry, and smiled.

"See Harriet out and I'll take the boys to bed, love."

Harry carefully slid Jody off of his lap and onto the sofa. He smiled at Harriet. Draco, stood up, Jade on his hip and picked up Jody and put him on the other and walked towards the stairs.

"Night Harriet and thank you so much," he called on his way up.

Harriet turned and smiled. She then turned back to Harry.

"They've been quite troublesome recently but maybe that was down to wanting to be with you both. But do call me if you have any issues."

"We will, thanks so much Harriet, for all your help."

And with that, Harriet was gone. Harry thought that he must send her flowers to her office.

Draco was yet to return from upstairs, so he went up there to see what was going on.

As he reached the doorframe of the boys' room, he saw Jody asleep in the bed with green covers, and Draco was leaning over the red bed.

"Yes you get to stay here forever."

Draco paused.

"Yes you can call us Daddy."

He paused again.

"No you don't have to call one of us Mummy."

Harry chuckled, making Draco turn around, and Jade look up.

"Goodnight Daddy Harry," Jade said waving. "Goodnight Daddy Draco."

Draco kissed the boy on the head and waved his hand. The lights went off, and the room was lit by the fairy lights Draco hung earlier. He then walked towards Harry, and shut the room door. The two men stood in the hallway of their home and let out their breath. They were now the fathers of two beautiful boys.

Harry took Draco's hand and led them to their bedroom. They were both mentally exhausted but completely and utterly elated. They laid on their bed and snuggled up to each other.

"Goodnight Daddy Harry."

Goodnight Daddy Draco."
