Final chapter! I absolutely love Nazz & Kevin's dynamic. Nazz isn't afraid to tell him when he's fucked up lol As well, I'm a sucker for Eddy being protective over Edd.

Thanks to everyone for views! I adore fluffy stories and hope you all do as well. I'm still in my KevEdd kick right now, so who knows! There might be more stories coming out! :D

Since there was no practice that day, Kevin decided to hang around the front of the school, chatting with his friends before looking for Edd. He hadn't had a chance to speak with the dork after giving him his jacket and he was eager to do so.

Kevin had heard most of the school talking about them and he smiled with pride, giddy at the idea of them being the top couple people were talking about.

It was while he was chatting with one of his teammates that he heard the sound of his name being called behind him.

Kevin turned to find Nazz walking towards them and he threw up a hand, waving at her as she approached.

"Hey, Nazz-" He said before his hat was promptly smacked off his head, making him stumble backward.

The others around them laughed at the sight.

"You idiot!" She shouted. It didn't sound like it had too much malice to it, so he wasn't sure if he should be overly concerned with her actions.

"Hey," he said, picking his hat off the ground and dusting it off. "What the hell was that for?"

Nazz folded her arms across her chest. "That was for you because you're either an idiot or a coward."

Kevin blushed and looked at the friends beside him, asking them without words to give him and his best friend some space.

"We'll catch you later, Kevin." One of the guys said, giving him a wave. The others nodded and snickered as they left, still laughing at Nazz's ferocity.

"See ya, guys." Kevin said before turning to face Nazz fully. He adjusted his hat back on his head before speaking again. "Okay, what did I do, Nazz?"

He knew Nazz wouldn't be angry at him for no reason but he couldn't fathom what it was that had her fuming.

"Did you know that the whole school is talking about you and Double D?"

Kevin smiled, unable to stop the blush from rising to his cheeks.

"Yeah," he answered.

"Did you know that EVERYONE and their cousin knows about you and Double D… EXCEPT Double D?" She said with a little more emphasis.

Kevin just stared at her. "What do you mean?"

"Kev, I'm pretty sure the whole school knows you and Double D are an item except for the guy himself.

Kevin brushed his hand through the air. "That's ridiculous. I gave him my jacket."

Nazz lifted her fists in the air and almost growled, startling Kevin. She let out a frustrated grunt.

"You really are a dumbass." She said shaking her head.

It was so confusing seeing her get completely upset over something so simple. There was no way Edd didn't know how he felt. It was customary to give the person you wanted to date your jacket, at least, traditionally it was. He found it hard to believe Edd, the smartest of them all, didn't know that.

"What are you even talking about Nazz, please, make some sense."

"I am talking about YOU not actually telling Edd how you feel. He deserves to know and all you seem to be able to do is passively flirt with him. Did you ever think, that wouldn't work with him?" She was on a roll and Kevin was a little scared to speak, not wanting to stop her. "You have to be more upfront with him. He takes things very literally, you know that. Everyone in the school is asking him questions and confusing him."

Kevin breathed for a moment. He hadn't thought about the fact that Edd was incredibly blunt and literal. He furrowed his eyebrows. Maybe he didn't even realize this whole time that Kevin had been flirting with him. For weeks!

Kevin's mouth hung open.

"Ahh, now you get it." Nazz said. "Finally."

Kevin needed to talk to him. He needed to man up and tell the dork how crazy he made him feel. If he didn't get the message by then, he might even grab him and kiss him. That for sure would let him know that he wanted to take their relationship to the romantic level.

"Where is he?" Kevin said firmly.

Nazz pointed around the building. "Last I saw, he was headed toward the field."

Kevin nodded, but before he could leave, Nazz grabbed his arm.

"And Kev, I think- I think he was crying." She said softly.

"Fuck- Nazz, I gotta go."

She nodded and let go of him, letting him run away.

"Don't forget to actually TELL HIM!" she shouted. He waved a hand towards her but kept running.

It was his fault Edd was upset. If he had just listened to Nazz in the first place, if he had simply talked to him or not freaked out, maybe- Kevin shook his head. He needed to focus on finding the dork. Then he could think of what to say.

As Kevin made his way toward the football field, he looked around for the familiar black beanie. He soon spotted it through the seats of the bleachers and ran towards it.

Edd was sitting on the ground, surprising Kevin since he had never seen Double D sit anywhere that wasn't wiped down first. His head was on his knees and it sounded as if he was sniffling. Kevin's heart tightened.

"Double D?" he said, softly.

Edd snapped his head around, vigorously wiping the tears that stained his face with the sleeve of Kevin's letterman jacket.

"Ke-vin!" he said with a hiccup. "W-what are you doing here?"

Kevin chuckled with a dry lack of humor in his tone. It hurt to see Edd so upset, especially since it was most likely due to his cowardice in the first place.

"That was my line." Slowly he walked over to Edd and crouched down beside him. "What are you doing over here, D?" He asked, pretty sure he already knew the answer.

"Well. It's complicated."

Kevin shrugged. "I don't mind complicated."

Edd blushed at the unintended insinuation of Kevin's words. He was willing to experience Edd's complexity and everything that went along with it and he knew he needed to let the boy know.

Edd looked at his knees and swallowed. "There's been rumors. Malicious actions from a handful of our peers, if you will."

"Rumors?" Kevin asked, taking a seat beside him.

"Involving you. And- and me."

Kevin swallowed hard, trying to gauge why he was upset about the rumors. If it was because he hated the idea or because he only thought they were rumors.

Edd continued, blushing with a sniffle. "At how I'm your next, ahem, 'arm candy', if you will?"

Kevin's face lit up and he cringed. "Oh," he said lightly.

He had never seen Edd as a small crush or a trophy to win. He knew his reputation wasn't the best when it came to serious relationships and he swallowed hard. Edd meant much more than that to him.

Before he could say anything, Edd was talking again, beginning to ramble a bit through his nerves.

"But I know the incredulous words are just that. Given our history, and my affinity for all things- 'dorky', as you would say," Edd lifted his hands in quotation marks, which was incredibly endearing if not for the self-deprecating laugh that came out of his mouth. "In what universe would a person of your stature and grace choose to affiliate themselves romantically with me."

Kevin blinked for a moment, processing the lengthy words Edd had spoken.

"If- wait- you?" He shook his head. "Are you saying you don't think you'd have a chance with me?" Kevin scooted closer to the dork, looking down at his hands nervously.

"If anything," he laughed at himself, removing his hat to run a hand through his hair. "if anything D, YOU'RE the one who's way out of my league."

Edd's eyes boggled for a moment.

"This universe. This universe is the one where I'm telling you-" Kevin swallowed the lump in his throat and steeled himself to look Edd directly in the eyes. "I like you. I like you a lot." He blushed furiously. "And I wanted to ask, do you wanna go out with me?"

Edd stared, for a moment, his face flushed. Kevin shifted nervously. "On a date?" He added.

With fire burning in his cheeks, Edd had to take a moment to process Kevin's soft confession. A confession! That's what had just happened. He wasn't sure why Kevin, after most likely hearing at least a few of the various rumors around school, had felt the urge to ask him on a date.

Edd found it hard to swallow. It didn't make any sense.

"This," he started, slowly. "This isn't because I'm your next 'toy', is it?"

Kevin shakes his hands in front of him, blustering for an answer.

"N-no! No, Edd." Kevin turned to face him fully. "This is more than that. You're more than that. I just- I really like you and I have for- god, I don't know how long." He said with a chuckle. "And I was trying to ask you out but it obviously wasn't working."

Edd's eyes widened. At what point had he been asked on a date by the boy in front of him?

"What?" Edd said, a little startled.

"Yeah," Kevin shrugged. "I asked you to my game, and I gave you my jacket."

He spoke as if that explained everything but Edd's mind was still reeling. Edd looked down at the jacket in question, almost forgetting he had been wearing it, and lifted a hand to run his fingers over the name embroidered on the front.

"That was- how does giving me your jacket equivalate asking me out on a date?" He said, looking back up.

Kevin slammed his head into his knees that were curled up near his body. "Yeah," he said, the sound muffled. "That's what Nazz said."

Edd couldn't help but smile. Kevin looked genuine in his attempts to woo Edd. The thought made him blush.

"That's why people kept asking me about the status of our relationship." Edd said, his heart clenching a little.

Kevin turned to look at him. "They weren't mean, were they?"

Edd's breath hitched as he felt tears welling in his eyes again. The assumptions of his peers had been initially correct but when he had told them otherwise, their malicious words stung harder than he had thought they would.

"Uhm, not necessarily. Not intentionally." He corrected. "They told me it didn't make sense that you would have wanted to date someone like me."

By the time he finished his sentence, Edd felt tears rolling down his cheeks and he turned his head away, embarrassed that Kevin had to see him in such a state.

"Edd," he said, softly, moving to cup his cheeks in his hands. Kevin's hands were warm against the even warmer red face of Edd. His breath caught in his throat at the feeling.

"Don't cry, Edd, please." Kevin used his thumbs to wipe the few tears from Edd's face. "I'll murder anyone who made you think you weren't worth dating."

A bubbling laugh lifted itself from Edd's chest, sticking in his throat. "Kevin, that's not how that works."

"I'm serious." he said with a smile, running his hands from Edd's checks to his neck. The sensation made him shiver. "I'll completely annihilate the piss out of anyone who thinks they can treat you like that."

Edd lifted his hands to cover Kevin's. "You've been playing too many video games."

They held each other, hand over hand, for a moment, both red in the face with a warm bubble of contentment surrounding them.

Kevin was the first to speak. "You never answered my question."

Edd swallowed, knowing exactly what he was talking about. Kevin had been an infatuation of Edd's for a long time, whether he knew it or not and he would have to be incredibly dense not to move forward with their relationship.

"Yes." He said softly, nodding his head.

The way Kevin's eyes lit up with a hopeful giddiness was incredibly endearing. Kevin had a wide smile that he bit between his lip as he pulled Edd's face towards him.

Edd's breath caught again. "Kevin," he whispered, almost terrified, feeling the anticipation of the actions of the jock.

"Fuck, Edd, can I?" He asked, ghosting his hands through Edd's long strands at the back of his neck.

"Language, Kevin." He said just as softly, an automatic reaction to the boy's cruising. Kevin only smiled, the words spurring him on.

Edd leaned forward and their lips barely touched. Kevin looked at Edd for a moment, not wanting to overstep, silently asking again.

Nodding softly he spoke. "Yes, you may, Kevin. Please-"

He was cut off before finishing his sentence by the feeling of incredibly soft and tender lips against his.

Edd had only ever been kissed a few times, but nothing was compared to the shocking heat that enveloped him. It ran from his lips, down his spine, and into his limbs, making him feel almost numb with pleasure.

Edd pressed against Kevin softly, receiving a soft deep sound in response.

Kevin opened his mouth wider and turned his head, obviously showing Edd different ways he could be kissed and he couldn't help but smile into his lips.

"Sockhead?! There you are!"

There was a loud shout from behind them, the familiar grating of Eddy's nasally voice piercing the soft bubble the pair had been in.

Edd tore himself away from Kevin, spinning around abruptly to find Eddy barreling into the small space under the bleachers.

"Eddy?" He said, still a little breathless from the kiss.

"Ed and I've been looking all over for you! Where have you-" Eddy stopped abruptly when he finally saw who was sitting next to Edd.

Looking at Edd's flushed face, his eyes still red, puffy, and fresh with tears, Eddy immediately jumped to a very wrong conclusion that had him shouting at the jock beside him.

"SHOVEL CHIN. What the hell are you doing here?"

"None of your damn business." Kevin said, fists clenching at the accusation.

Eddy moved forward and grabbed at Edd's shirt, pulling him up and away from Kevin.

"Double D?" He said, looking closer. "You've been crying!"

Edd shook his head, putting up his hands in defense. "I'm fine Eddy. I just-"

Not letting him finish, Eddy moved his attention back to Kevin. "What the hell have you been doing to him?"

"Wha- I haven't been doing anything!" Kevin said, standing. Then he blushed and began to smirk. "Well…"

Edd realized what he was thinking and blushed as well. They certainly had done SOMETHING before Eddy's interruption.

Eddy noticed Kevin's smile and frowned, perhaps thinking that he was being light of the situation. He moved forward and grabbed Kevin's shirt in his fists.

"I should have KNOWN you had something to do with this stupid rumor that's going around."

"Get off me! I didn't do 'nothing." Kevin said, shoving Eddy away roughly.

"Right, so Double D's been crying for no reason."

"Eddy," Edd said, trying to calm him down. "Cease and desist. There's nothing to worry about."

"Like HELL there is! I know trash when I see it."

"Kevin and I were just-" he looked at Kevin and his blush deepened. "We were just… talking, Eddy."

Eddy looked at him and then to Kevin, who scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. Eddy's eyes widened, slowly but surely putting two and two together.

"Oh no- no you don't." He said to Kevin, the ferocity in his voice still evident. "I don't want you treating him like one of your boy toys and tossing him out when you get bored with him." He poked his finger into Kevin's chest roughly. "I know how you are and Double D deserves at least someone who will treat him with respect!"

It warmed Edd's heart to see his friend come valiantly to his defense at the earliest sign of trouble, even if there was no trouble to be found.

"No, Eddy," Edd said, putting his hands on Eddy's chest, trying to push him away from his new boyfriend. He blushed. "It's not like that."

Eddy gave Kevin a death glare, leaning over Edd's protective shoulder. "What, bulling us when we were kids wasn't enough, you had to go fuck with his emotions?"

Easily pushing his way around Edd, he placed himself directly in Kevin's face, the latter glaring down at him, a careful rage building at the accusations.

"Back off, Short Stack, before I pound some sense into you."

"GENTLEMAN, ENOUGH!" Edd shouted, his eyes closed and fists clenched tightly. He moved to stand between Eddy and Kevin.

"Now I know, Eddy, I thought that could have been the case as well, that this was all a charade or false pretense."

"You did?" Kevin said, sounding a little hurt that Edd didn't necessarily trust him.

Edd looked at him sternly, feeling tense from the overflowing emotions around him. "Given our past and your reputation, can you blame me?"

Kevin deflated a bit. "That's fair. But- you know you're not, I mean I don't think of you as-"

Edd smiled. "I know." Turning to face Eddy, he sighed, the smile never leaving his face. "But he kissed me. And I want to discuss with him, ALONE, what his intentions are."

Feeling his pulse flutter thinking about continuing what had transpired only moments before, Edd blushed.

For a moment, Eddy stewed with his thoughts, arms crossed. "You think that's a good idea? Being alone with him?"

Edd breathed a sigh of relief. "I think I can handle myself, fine."

"Whatever," Eddy said, moving to leave but pausing to point at Kevin. "Just don't break his heart."

Kevin rolled his eyes but remained silent.

"I appreciate the sentiment, Eddy." Edd said, patting him on the back.

The boys began to leave the small space, the air around them feeling much lighter. Edd slowed his pace to let Kevin catch up beside him.

He turned and blushed at the boy with a smile. "I'd like to discuss our previous musings at a later date."

Kevin returned the smile with a lopsided grin of his own that made Edd's heart flutter.

"Yeah, definitely." he said. "Want me to walk you home?"

As they walked away the dork and the jock clasped their hands together, looking at each other for a moment. Both of them were grinning from ear to ear and had matching blushes.

A bubbling happiness rumbled in Edd's chest and he nodded. "That would be delightful, Kevin."
