QUIRK ASSESSMENT
SUBJECT: HO, ALEXIS
QUIRK: N/A
DESIGNATION: QUIRKLESS
SYNOPSIS: Despite the seeming redundancy in making a quirk analysis for a quirkless individual, there is more here than this abundantly rare condition implies.
The most physically obvious evidence of a 'quirkless' designation not entirely holding merit is the subject's hair; a vivid azure in color. While hardly a quirk of any note if it were to be classified as such, it is nonetheless evidence that the subject is not, as their designation would imply, an entirely unquirked human. (Blue fur/hair coloration is almost entirely unheard of in mammals, indicating either some measure of mandrill DNA, which would be cause for major concern, or far more likely, the introduction of quirked genetic material.)
Frankly, the existence of a quirkless individual in this day and age is a rarity in and of itself. Even more than a hundred years prior to the date of writing, the world population of around 10 billion was said to contain 80% quirked individuals, with the overwhelming majority of the quirkless belonging to older generations, and the likelihood of quirkless births being less than a percent. At time of writing, best estimates of quirkless probability place the likelihood at 0.005%, approximately as uncommon as albinism. (See files on [Jorgensen, Hugo]). The condition of quirklessness is predictably exacerbated in genetic groups most removed from the known point of origin of quirks, China, and thus it stands to reason that population groups with the least shared genetic makeup with East Asian diaspora exhibit the highest quirklessness rates.
But all that is to say that 'quirkless' is in and of itself a cogent diagnosis, which is a conclusion not necessarily agreed with by the author, much less settled scientifically (the general lack of interest in quirklessness surely to blame for the lack of conclusive results.)
As previously mentioned, the existence of hair colors not expressed in any population of pre-quirk humans is evidence enough to dismiss treating the subject as such, and that the subject's parents are 10th generation quirk holders only corroborates this. Subject's matrilineal line seems to have a recurring photosynthetic mutation, and the patrilineal heritage does not contain enough information to attempt to map out a genome or anything of the sort, but the father's impact absorption quirk would be something easily passed on. That neither parent passed on their quirk suggests an incredibly recessive trait in the subject, but regardless, the general proclivity of increased physical capabilities from a history of quirked ancestors should still be present.
As long theorized, roughly three generations after the first emergence of quirks, the baseline condition of human strength, flexibility, and most notably; durability, seems to have increased a considerable amount relative to existing pre-quirk records. More evidence (and ideally, specialized testing) is required to make anything resembling a conclusion of this hypothesis in regards to the subject, but initial exams and combat assessments do indicate a positive correlation.
Despite being an adolescent, relatively small in stature, and female, the subject has thus far displayed a peak acceleration at least visually comparable to male pre-quirk Olympic sprinters, and will assuredly mature into capabilities at least 1 ½ times that measure. The fact that the subject is able to contend with other subjects while not being at a notable physical disadvantage lends credence to this as well. (Even subjects without strength-enhancement quirks or mutations should assuredly have higher-than-baseline physical capabilities, a well-documented phenomenon. That a 'quirkless' individual is able to physically match and at times exceed other subjects suggests that they possess the same general enhancement.)
Where strength and speed are modestly enhanced from the baseline human condition, durability has long been noted to have increased uniformly over the generations, and incidents of individuals surviving impacts that would assuredly be fatal to the recorded abilities of pre-quirk humanity is well-known and accepted.
Although there is no footage or recordings of damage done to the subject at the time of writing, the author finds it exceedingly likely that this condition extends to them as well, and the existence of any such material would aid tremendously in further analysis.
MUTATIVE ELEMENTS:
- Abnormal hair coloration (passive mutation)
- POTENTIAL(!) general physical enhancement
HEROIC APPLICATIONS: This quirk (or lack thereof) by its very nature lends itself to no particular application, or perhaps any application. The subject will be entirely dependent on individual skill and the use of support items to specialize in any given field. Regardless of desired field of heroics for the subject, the one avenue to be avoided at all costs is combat with individuals in possession of full-body mutations, particularly those of notable strength. Beyond a certain point, even the 'enhanced' physical capabilities of a baseline quirked individual are insufficient to combat certain quirk mutations. Even exemplary skill in martial arts and submission techniques simply cannot work in situations such as this. A headlock is meaningless if the legs cannot exert enough pressure to meaningfully constrict the windpipe, for example. The wild card in this scenario is support gear, but such determinations are infinitely variable and dependent dramatically on having prior knowledge of the type of opponent that will be faced.
AVENUES FOR GROWTH: Beyond general physical conditioning, there is little to mention in this regard. Given that a specialized ability does not need to be targeted for growth, the subject is likely to be more competent as a whole, something of a 'jack of all trades'. Training with various forms of support gear to account for varied situations seems a good use of time, although training regimens are for [REDACTED] to assemble.

Welcome back, y'all! It's been a bit, but An Age's End is up and running again, so Student Analyses is as well! Glad to be doing some more formal quirk analysis, really sinking my teeth into the nitty-gritty here. An odd analysis today to be sure, but one I've always wanted to give a deeper dive into quirklessness than canon did. Hope you enjoyed, and let me know who you'd like to see in the next one!
