Hey, hey, hey people we are *ducks from chair* HEY! COME ON!

Kate: YOU HAD THAT COMING! NEVER LEAVE ME HERE WITH THIS LOT FOR MORE THAN TWO DAYS ALONE!

I'm sorry okay? *turns to audience* Really, I'm sorry, I know this story hasn't been updated as much but there are reasons, plus personal reasons for Sky as to why this hasn't been updated.

Cast: ….

Anyway, I'll see what we can do to get these chapters back on track. I'm not sure if Sky is feeling a hundred percent better to start writing again so I may be going solo on this for a while, but I seriously hope not

Sky: More fun with me here?

Cast: Heck no!

Hell yes!

Cast: We hate you HTF

I know!

Sky: Alright, anyway, without further a due, I'm sure you're all wondering about what has happened with Kellyn.

Well, this chapter holds all the answers, so read on.

"Come on Keith, keep up. The Professor's waiting for us," Kate called out behind her as she watched Keith jump over one of the larger ledges trying to show off.

The incident with the hand had scared the both of them half to death, but they each decided to try and put it behind them.

Keith jumped to his feet before looking around; the wind blew slightly causing him to shiver. The image of the hand was burned into his mind. He didn't understand how Kate was able to suppress it.

But she couldn't. The image burned in Kate's mind also. The scream of the terrified pokemon echoed in her mind. All she could hear was Arceus' voice in her head.

'Why didn't you do anything? Why did you just stand there?'

Of course she knew the voice wasn't actually his. She couldn't understand why, all of a sudden, she was starting to think about what the God would say. Especially after no contact with her since Operation Brighton.

Keith began walking towards where Kate was. She smiled sweetly at him, causing the red head to blush. The two walked in silence back to Professor Rowan's lab.

Cynthia had told the two of them that, if the Professor wasn't there, to check the lake northwest of Twin Leaf town. Kate yawned, stretching her hands behind her head.

Sure the darkness had managed to seep into Sinnoh, and yeah sure it was sending the weather crazy. But if it was giving off warm weather, Kate could live with it.

As for Keith, he didn't like the weather; something was causing him to sweat more than what he thought was possible, though for some reason it didn't show on his body. Maybe he was just imagining it, maybe he was just overreacting.

Keith huffed as he made his way to the pokemon lab with Kate. Something inside of him told him things weren't going to play out so well for him in the future.

The Union was as busy as ever. Reports of darkness came flooding in along with pokemon disappearing left and right. Almia was now included in the regions affected by this mysterious event. Not many pokemon were gone yet. Still, if nothing was done, then Almia may end up like Sinnoh soon enough. There was a rumour flying around about a black hand spiriting pokemon away. But it was only a rumour. It seemed a little too weird to actually happen.

Rhythmi sighed, collapsing to the ground and resting her back against the Tree of Harmony. She was lucky to catch a break at all. With so much chaos and things to do, Rhythmi was worn out. Always frazzled by the overload of work, getting up early, going to bed late and barely having any time to herself. As much as the blonde girl adored being an operator, this worldwide emergency was stressing her out.

"Rhythmi? Are you alright?"

Coming into the break room was Issac. He looked just as exhausted as Rhythmi was. Who could blame him? Researchers were also given overtime to figure out what the heck's going on. Not much luck with that.

"I'm not feeling so well..." Rhythmi mumbled.

"You and me both." Issac sighed, sitting beside her. "But it'll get better. We have our friends investigating and with everyone working together, the disorder will be solved in no time."

"I sure hope so." Rhythmi sighed.

"At least we have each other. And though we sail through a harsh storm right now, together we can find sunshine once more. Whatever happens, I'll be there for you." Issac gently assured.

Rhythmi smiled, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Thanks Issac."

"Anytime." Issac responded.

The quiet, peaceful moment was shattered by a scream. Both blondes snapped to attention as more screams filled the air. It came from within the Union. Though the blondes wanted to race down and see what was going on, they froze as they noticed the sky above them.

Clouds turned black and swirled around in a storm. Lightning danced from cloud to cloud, making the air electrified. Wind picked up speed. Issac held Rhythmi close so she wouldn't blow away. On the ground, a ring of dark energy surrounded the Union building. Pokemon and several people were being dragged into the darkness, disappearing.

"What's going on?!" Rhythmi shouted over the howling winds and thunder.

"I have no idea!" Issac answered in a serious but slightly nervous tone. "Stay close to me!"

Rhythmi buried herself in Issac's chest, frightened by this crazy storm. The air was radiating darkness and terror. Everything was upside down! It felt like the world around them would crumble into the shadows.

Something flashed from the clouds above. Rythmi looked up to see a purple lightning bolt heading straight at them! Before she could warn Issac, it hit them straight on. Both blondes screamed as they were being electrocuted. Their skin felt like it was being burned from the inside out before going completely numb. A loud 'zzzzt' noise made their ears ring. Rythmi felt her head pounding with an aching pain. When the lightning strike was done, she immediately blacked out. Both she and Issac fell to the ground, unconscious.

The storm raged for several minutes. Pokemon were taken away into the darkness along with several people; citizens and Union members. Lightning hit the trees and areas around the building. Screams came from the inside as there were dark pools with black hands kidnapping living beings. Everyone was in a panic!

Soon, the black hands were gone and the dark ring vanished. The clouds stopped swirling, settling back into a moody grey. No more lightning or high winds. Everything had settled back to normal. Well...as close to normal as possible. Everyone was shook up by this freaky occurrence.

Rhythmi moaned, feeling the headache wake her back up. She sat up and rubbed her temples. Without opening her eyes, she could feel something wasn't quite right. It was hard to explain. But it was like there was something off or there was this very weird feeling. Rhythmi opened her eyes to see Issac.

But it wasn't Issac. It was Rhythmi! But how could there be two Rhythmi's? And this 'other Rhythmi' was groaning with Issac's voice! He/she opened their eyes and, upon looking at Rhythmi, froze. What the heck was going on? Though, a spark lit in Rhythmi's head. She suddenly had an idea and it was making her anxious.

Rhythmi looked down at her body. Those hands of her that were shaking nervously...those were not her hands! Her chest was completely flat! And it was covered by basic clothes with a white lab coat. Rhythmi felt her hair but it was short! Still blonde but cut short like a boy's.

Oh no...It couldn't be! I-it wasn't possible! No way!

"WE SWITCHED BODIES!" Rhythmi and Issac exclaimed.

The ground shook beneath Summer and Ben. Summer stood to her feet, something wasn't right…..

Ben yelped as he fell to the ground. Summer snickered as he rubbed his bum, standing back up.

"What do you suppose that was?" he asked. Summer shrugged her shoulders. "Earthquake?" Ben asked, hoping he would have been right.

"No," Summer answered, "The rumbling was much too light and far to be classed as a full blown quake. How you fell to your ass though… I'll never know," she added with a sigh before jumping over, yet another, fence.

"So, not an earthquake?" Ben asked, Summer stopped.

"Not an earthquake in this Region. Now in another Region, that's a different story," she answered. Ben followed Summer's lead over the fence. He watched his partner deep in thought; he never disrupted her when she was like this. When Summer thought, he never interrupted her, he couldn't.

"We're here," Summer spoke as she looked at New Bark Town.

Empty. The entire place. It was just….. Empty. No pokemon, or people. The houses looked abandoned. Lights were off. The ground had been disrupted. What was once a slightly rocky natural path was now rockier and had more bumps in it.

Ben shivered; Summer wrapped her arms around herself. Something was definitely wrong in New Bark Town.

The wind howled as Summer took a step forwards. Ben followed her, a door creaked open, causing both Rangers to become alert.

They turned. A small brown haired girl walked out from one of the houses, her eyes glistened over with tears as she looked at the Rangers. Behind her, an elderly woman appeared, she looked at the Rangers, recoiled and ushered the young girl inside.

"Wait!" Summer called, the woman stopped. "We're looking for Professor Elm, do you-,"

"In the lab, just next door," the woman quickly interrupted before rushing inside the house. Ben shook his head, before looking to the house next door.

"Something about that place gives me the creeps," he whispered to Summer as they looked at the lab. The lights were off, the windows smashed, everything was silent, dead almost.

"Well, we're not gonna get answers standing here. Come on," Summer sighed as she walked forwards, her hands now at her sides.

"Summer, I don't think that's a good idea," Ben tried to reason as he watched his partner push the door open. A creaking noise filled the entire town.

Ben walked slowly over to Summer, he gulped as the two walked inside.

"Oblivia was a lot less frightening than this," he whispered as the two walked further into the darkness. Summer stopped, something was moving, she could hear it.

She turned around, the door slammed shut, the wind began to howl as the lights suddenly flickered on. Ben looked around, assistants surrounded them. Professor Elm stood in front of them….. But something wasn't right.

Summer frowned, she knew something was wrong. Ben was right; they should have never come in here.

"Summer, what's going on?" Ben asked as he and Summer got into a fighting position.

"I think the darkness is spreading quicker than we thought," she answered as she watched the assistants carefully.

"What?" Ben asked. Summer frowned deeply as she began thinking.

"On the way in, there were no pokemon, no people; the town was dead, like the darkness had already come here. But there was something that wasn't right, something I could feel. You were right Ben, we shouldn't have come in here, but now we have to fight to get out," she explained, Ben smirked as he nodded his head, a good fight never hurt anyone.

Professor Elm finally looked up from the floor. Both Rangers flinched at his eyes. Black. Pure black. Could it be…..? That the darkness is possessing people?

No, it wasn't possessing them….. It couldn't be….. It was, a maniacal laugh came from the Professor….. It was driving them insane.

"Oh...my...Arceus..." Seren whispered as she turned over a small blue pokemon. Her eyes filled with shock, her mouth agape, her hands shaking and, and, she couldn't. She just couldn't.

She quickly stood to her feet, her shaking legs giving out the moment she stood up. She landed on her knees, slowly moving so she was sat on her bottom.

She breathed deeply. Hoping, praying that this was just a dream. That her Partner, that her best friend, hadn't turned into a pokemon. Seren quickly did a recheck, recalling that she had just referred to Kellyn as her best friend. She scoffed as she turned her head to the side.

No longer was he her best friend, not after everything that happened. She wouldn't say she hated him, but she also wouldn't say she didn't consider him, at least, a friend.

The ranger looked at the blue and red pokemon laid in front of her. She jolted slightly as it started to move. She placed her hands on the ground, ready to move towards him if need be. The pokemon shook its head and looked around.

Its eyes focused on Seren sat on the ground and it seemed… to smile at her. Though it was faint, Seren thought she saw a small smile. Though, she knew it wouldn't last long. For the pokemon realised its shortness and how big Seren looked. It then looked at itself and, as Seren expected, it began flaying its arms like crazy, jumping in the air making angry, but very cute, sounds as its eyes filled with tears.

Seren looked at the Totodile. She examined it closely. Something inside of her hoped that this wasn't her Partner, that this was not Kellyn. That the darkness had taken him somewhere else in the Region and left this Totodile in his place in order to faze her on the mission.

She sighed and slowly, shakily, she began to craw over to the pokemon. Her hands wrapped around the pokemon's waist. Her bangs covered her eyes as she looked at the pokemon. With still shaking legs she stood to her feet and lifted her head to see the pokemon.

Being so close up, the first thing the Totodile saw was her lips. Its eyes traced the scar that had been left from her nose towards her chin, going over her plump pink lips in the process. The pokemon's eyes were fixated on it, but only for a moment.

For when Seren looked at the pokemon, the pokemon looked up, its eyes captured in the crystal like eyes she had. They shone brightly, but there was an emotion in them, something that the pokemon couldn't put its finger on. That made it think, this girl was like a mystery wrapped inside an enigma.

He heard her sigh. Those blue eyes became covered by her eyelids as she closed them before looking at him again. Something then became visible in her eyes, was it pity, disappointment, happiness? He couldn't tell.

"Well, you are Kellyn," she muttered as she looked at the pokemon, who blinked once, then twice.

"Of course I'm Kellyn, who the hell did you think I was? Oh, I know, I bet you thought I was Keith, didn't you?" Kellyn retorted as he glared at his partner, who gave him a blank look.

"Great, this is gonna be even harder than I thought," Seren muttered to herself. She knew Kellyn had said something but she didn't know what that something was. "Out of all the pokemon you could turn into it had to be a Totodile, why not a Treecko or Torchic? At least then I'd know what you were saying," she added with a huff as she puffed out her cheeks.

Kellyn blushed, he had seen many facial expressions from Seren, but never once had he seen her, well, puff out her cheeks in annoyance. Normally she would just glare at him and walk off leaving him where he was.

He then thought for a moment. He was a Pokemon. She was a Ranger. It would look bad on her part if she were to just leave a small vulnerable pokemon on its own. Kellyn closed his eyes and gritted his teeth, these thoughts made him angry.

"I suppose we should try to come up with a way to turn you back, huh?" she asked as she turned him around and started walking towards the city once more.

Kellyn blushed as she held him to her chest. She felt warm, comfortable, soft. She smelled of vanilla. Something he loved the smell of. Kellyn closed his eyes as they walked.

He cried silently to himself as they did so. Being so small, and covered by Seren's average bust, the girl couldn't see him crying, nor did his tears drip onto her arm. The girl was completely oblivious to her crying partner.

But at that moment in time, even if he was crying and she had seen it, her mind was elsewhere. She was worried about other things. If Kellyn had been turned into a Pokemon by this darkness, how far had it spread? Had it reached Almia yet? Were Ryth and Isaac okay? What about Kate and Keith? The others?

Seren hoped to Arceus it was just her and Kellyn that would have this mission rough. But the blue eyed girl couldn't have had any idea how wrong she was.

"So this is Pallet Town, huh?" Wendy asked as a breeze blew through the air. The town bustled with life as Sven watched children run around with newly hatched Ponyta, making him smile.

"Yes, ma'am, this is the Ranch town of Kanto," he replied as a young Ponyta came running over to him. He smiled at the pokemon, but quickly jumped away as it tried to eat his boots.

"Wah, don't eat my boots, these were expensive!" Sven cried as the Ponyta advanced towards his feet again. He quickly ran behind Wendy, who found the event quite amusing. "This isn't funny, Wen," he pouted, Wendy laughed harder as a little girl came running up in a cowboy hat.

"I'm sowy if my powkemon bovered wou, Miswer," Sven looked at the little girl, she couldn't have been any older than four. He understood why her parents had her riding a newly hatched Ponyta.

He knelt down, smiling at the girl before picking her up. Wendy sweat dropped as she watched the scene unfold. She hoped to Arceus the people here knew Sven otherwise he might be mistaken for a child napper.

"Right, where are your mummy and daddy? Let's get you and this leather eating pokemon back to them," he stated. The little girl smiled as she pointed them in the direction.

Wendy followed her Partner as they searched around for the child's parents. The Ponyta happily following around, trying to munch on his boots. Wendy laughed each time she saw the Ponyta tug back on his boots. Sven would jump forward and looked at the pokemon, while the little girl waved her arm with a large grin on her face.

"Well, that was fun," Wendy giggled as she and Sven walked towards Professor Oak's laboratory. Sven gave her a slightly glare before sighing.

"That Ponyta completely messed my boots up. I mean, look at these!" he all but yelled as he pointed to his half eaten boots.

"Well…" Wendy trailed off as she looked towards a large building in front of them.

"Well what?" Sven asked, curiosity peaking his interest.

"Maybe you shouldn't wear tasty shoes," Wendy answered with a smile. Sven stopped before looking at his partner. She walked a few feet in front of him and the dark haired Ranger just shook his head.

He sighed as he rushed towards his partner once more.

"You need to stop talking to Kate. Her words are rubbing off on you," he stated as they walked inside the large building.

"Oh, you must be the Rangers, Professor Oak's outside on the ranch, just go through that door," an assistant spoke. They looked back down to their work once they'd finished. Sven gave a thanks and tipped his hat before walking towards the door, Wendy followed closely behind him.

"I never really thought that the lab would be this big," she muttered as they walked through the door. Sven only smiled as he walked over to a man in a white lab coat.

"Professor Oak?" he asked. The older man turned around with a smile on his face.

"Ah, Sven, what a pleasure to see you again. And I see you've brought your girlfriend with you this time," the professor smiled as he looked at Wendy. Who blushed, not sure of what to say. Sven rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah, Professor. You know why we're here right?" Sven asked. Oak nodded his head, suddenly turning serious. Wendy just watched the two, shocked that Sven didn't even bother to correct the older man.

"You want to know if any strange happenings have happened, right?" Oak asked as he turned to the cowboy he knew so well.

"That's right," Wendy confirmed coming into the conversation.

"Well, would you mind describing what kind of events?" Oaks asked, Sven and Wendy looked at each other.

"Well, to be fair, we've only really had a brief description ourselves. But something along the lines of pokemon who can't be befriended-,"

"This would also mean unable to capture with a pokeball," Sven interrupted.

"Or pokemon disappearing and maybe some darkness," Wendy finished as she looked at the older man, who thought for a moment.

"Well, from what you've described, I can't say any of it's happened here," Oak replied as he looked at the Ponyta and Rapidash on the ranch.

"Would you know if anything does happen?" Sven asked.

"Certainly. Pallet Town may be large but when you know it well it's really small. Meaning we're able to conduct pokemon check-ups frequently," Oak answered.

"Is there any possibility that a check-up can be done tomorrow on all the pokemon in town? So we know roughly how many there are that live here," Wendy asked as she smiled at the pokemon frolicking around.

"Of course, I can get my assistants to get the check-up sheets ready tonight," Oak answered as he turned to Sven, who was fixated on the pokemon.

"He won't be much help when it comes to Rapidash and Ponyta," Wendy sweat dropped as she looked at her partner. She couldn't help but smile as his eyes filled with a joy that she had never seen before.

"Believe me I know. Even though when he first came here, I told him that the Rapidash weren't friendly with new people. He wouldn't have any of it. Went right out there, tried to befriend one and ended up straight at the Pokemon Centre just up the road. To this day I swear he still has the burn mark," Oak replied as he laughed at the memory. Wendy thought for a moment before looking at Sven. She shook her head, sounded like him alright.

In a flash, Sven was over the railings rushing towards the Rapidash and Ponyta paired in the middle of the field. Wendy rushed to the railings and began calling him name.

"We don't have time to ride-," she cut her sentence short when she saw a shadow rushing towards the pokemon. She turned to Professor Oak, who was calling his researchers outside. By the panicked expression Wendy could tell this hadn't happened before.

She quickly jumped over the railings and began running after Sven. Though she knew she wouldn't catch him due to the head start he got, but she had to hope.

"Sven! Come back! It's not safe!" Wendy called after him. He looked over his shoulder to see his Partner running after him. A sad look filled into his eyes, but he carried on with his pace and continued running.

Black hands emerged from the shadow, grabbing pokemon along the way to the Rapidash and Ponyta. Wendy looked to her left to see a Bulbasaur running away, about to get grabbed.

Quickly, Wendy used her reflexes, running to the pokemon, scooping it up in her arms and jumping out of the way of the shadowy hand. She hissed as some of the shadow dripped onto her. Marking her skin.

She set the Bulbasaur down and continued her trek towards Sven. The pokemon she saved hid in a bush watching her run. Its eyes wide with amazement.

Sven reached the pokemon before the black shadow had the chance to. He quickly got them running off towards Wendy, who moved out of the way so they could pass.

She turned, making sure the pokemon got to where Oak was safely. But she wasn't ready for what she saw when she turned back. The black shadow was under Sven's feet. She could see the confusion in his face, the worry, the shock.

Despite being tired, the greenette started to run towards her Partner again. Her heart began to sink as she saw a black dripping hand behind Sven. She knew she wouldn't be able to make it in time. Whatever this thing was, it would take Sven from her.

"Sven!" she called as she reached the edge of where the darkness was. Sven looked at her, his eyes looking like they were in a trance. But she knew he could hear her. If only she had her Staraptor, she'd be able to save him.

Sven started walking forwards, each step feeling like he was treading through lava. He hissed as he lifted his leg out of the darkness. Wendy could make out that his jeans had been burned and singed.

She held her hand out to him, tears filling her eyes as she gripped a hold of her Partners hand. Sven looked at her, his eyes blank, no emotion shown. He tried his hardest to try and pull himself out of that darkness. To pull himself back to his Partner, back to his world, back to the people who needed him…

He couldn't. Sven looked at Wendy; her eyes began to glisten with tears. But he could see that if he held on she would fall into the darkness along with him. He didn't want that. If he had to die for his Partner to remain safe, then he would. To him, she was his world; she was everything that ever mattered to him.

And if he had to let go to save her, then he knew the world would be safe. He knew his world would be safe. He had faith in Wendy to save everyone and herself, maybe even him. And at that moment, faith was all he could go on.

Wendy could feel his grip loosen bit by bit. She looked him in the eyes. Her tears finally spilling over. He wouldn't let go, he couldn't let go, she couldn't lose him, she wouldn't let it happen.

"Please," her voice came out softly as she spoke. Her salty tears ran down her face, dripping into the darkness. Sven gave her a small, sad smile. She wouldn't be able to pull him out, not now. He was already up to his neck in darkness.

His hand gently slipped from Wendy's. The girl's eyes widened as she watched his fingertips seep into the darkness. And then, he vanished, it vanished, everything stopped and, and... What was that?

Wendy looked up, something red sat on the ground. Slowly, almost zombie like, Wendy walked over to it. She picked it up and it took a moment for her to register what it was. But when she did, everything hit her and she cried harder than before.

"Sven!" the greenette called as she looked up to the sky, tears falling from her face as she clutched the last thing that of him that was left behind.

His red cowboy hat.
