[ ~ Chapter • Start ~ ]
The next day, as fully expected by me, six, players had visited my village. And boy they looked very curious about this village.
Some of them even were amazed at the golems that were developed and created by the efforts of me and the village's researcher.
It doesn't mean they'd also notice the one-eyed alchemist who was trying his best to replicate the three potions I gave him.
I looked like I had been waiting to them, and due to me saying earlier that everyone in this village should do their jobs as usual.
Not forgetting to switch my class to [Merchant - Level 15] should help in this situation, as one of it's respective passives, [Persuasion] translates really well in reality.
"Huh, you're the first visitors of this village." I spoke casually, observing the six players that were standing in front of me.
But it does seem like most of them were... a little ignorant except one skelly man who, through body motions alone seemed to want to know something about me.
"This is a dark elven village? It doesn't seem to be that big and crowded, honestly." One of the players by the name of Sasha Drakkaiser spoke with a carefree tone.
"It's just been made a few months ago with the help of my people, but help yourself, you wouldn't get anything useful here if you pillage my village." I immediately replied in a casual to a half-serious tone, crossing my arms.
The woman in front of me took a step back in surprise and tilted her head down, while I just stared at her blankly.
To be honest, she's really tall. Maybe around 6'2" or another inch taller. She had silver eyes, with slits for pupils, and ember-like spiky hair that reached down her neck. She wore a latex bodysuit under a brown trench coat
"Took you a while to finally notice me, huh?"
I rolled my eyes, as several of the players, other than her and the skeleton knight were finally staring at me.
"Ragna? Wait, are you the game master of this server?" Surshana inquired, and having discovered me as one, I merely smirked.
Suddenly, the woman grabbed me by my collar, though couldn't really pull me even if she tried. Her teeth gritted, and her eyes were full of anger.
"Hey?! What's your problem with me?! Calm down!" I yelled, raising my hands up near my head while many dark elves of my village near me halted what they were doing to stare at us.
"It's your fault! All of you shitty admins!!!"
What was she talking about? Hrngh... perhaps she was from another server? I don't recognize her name anywhere in my server, still... (*1)
I immediately held the wrists of the woman and began to pry her hands of me easily through being helped by her friends. Soon enough, she and the dark elven villagers calmed down and I had to lead them to my home.
It's simply to prevent more public disturbance and to have myself hear more about them.
Once we arrived at the living room, I allowed them to sit on different chairs and couches. The only problem was: no television. Air conditioner and the air purifier is no problem anymore, though. We're living in another world and are already adapting to it.
Oh man... thinking about the television, I really missed watching several Magical Girl animes... even several early 21st and late 20th century anime too, despite being totally outdated in both CGI and animation, doesn't mean some of the scriptwriting of 2100s anime could rival most of them.
Anyways...
We had introduced ourselves to each other, though I did not reveal my name, because that might happen way later.
Sitting before a decent sized round table, I stared at Sasha on her eyes, myself still being a little confused at why she was acting like she is.
"So what the hell was your reason why you tried to attack me, huh?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"It's just that... It's too private and personal to speak of, but you might get the point. That hellhole was horrible enough for me to prefer being here. And I don't really believe we're in YGGDRASIL 2 or the bullshit like we are stored in some advanced, high-tech capsule thingamajig!" She explained, right before glaring at the monocled girl. "Looking at you, Watts!"
Looks like the topic has suddenly been shifted. Oh well, at least I wasn't confused anymore.
Watts, the girl in a scientist's clothing and an emblem of an atom pinned on her breast pocket immediately stood up, flabbergasted.
"Seriously, how many times did I say that my theories are definitely true, and NOT bullcrap!" She complained, patting where her heart, near her honestly almost flat chest was with a closed fist.
Her friends only chuckled jokingly at her, as if what she said was not even true by all means and could not be proven as.
"Everything's true, bud. Even me trying out dying for the fun of it to wake up on whatever shit hole of a reality we were back... And I've got to say... all of us have changed ever since we became out avatars in this world." Kikotenshi spoke, before clearly questioning us, even though they didn't actually answer that question years ago until now.
Each of them mostly realized that they did change, but me? Nothing. I am still me.
One of the theories I have was that, administrators were blank slates according to a part of the job's flavor text that says: "Administrators are blank slates, they are shaped and developed through every single action you, it's soul, do and think."
So that means that my actions and thoughts are already influencing me? That must explain my fondness over the dark elves that developed over the months...
I turned my attention towards the players in front of me, and found out something about each of them using a data gathering skill only admins have, which wasn't of my making, and I was pretty surprised when the girl, Watts, had... interesting information about herself.
She's a chunnibyo. Her information speaks it all aloud and I'm not letting you know more.
Still, this is the only chance I have to accelerating the growth of my village significantly.
"May I have your attention for a moment? You came here for something, right?" I asked, and one of them crossed their arms.
"Urm... erh... not really..." The skeleton knight, Surshana spoke rather dismissively. "We just came around this town, after we got a little bored being around human settlements..."
"I just came with them because there's too many ugly faces back at those human settlements. The same couldn't be said to the others." Sasha followed, clicking her tongue in irritation. "But fine, I'll entertain you. What do you want?"
"I just needed your help for maybe half a year, then I can simply give you three world items and other rewards you shouldn't waste too early." I spoke, gaining the curious glances of most of the players. "And why can I do that? Don't forget, I'm the Administrator and Game Master. I can do anything!"
They eventually questioned me about why I didn't just use my powers to build more, and create NPCs like the dark elves, but I figured out that relying on my powers at these moments wouldn't do anything else other than give awe.
So, what did I want them to help me with?
Find out after the break!
[ ~ Line • Break ~ ]
In the blink of an eye, two months have passed.
Those two months were very precious to the people of the town called Trinity, grown from the village it once was, with the help of its leader along with six people known as the supposed Six Gods hailing from Slaine, one of the human kingdoms from the north.
I freed 1600 elves, dark elves, and even dwarves with the help of the half of the Six Gods, and left the rest of them with educational, scientific, and thaumaturgic development while I expanded the village into a small city that housed the rescued people.
Yeah I had a lot going on at those times, so I couldn't think of a better name. It should be a capital years enough, though.
Ham, the Dark Elven Alchemist stepped further into his work, with the teachings of Ragna. He figured out that he required students, so he divided his hours sparingly, only resting for around 4-6 hours. He's tireless, but that doesn't seem to stop him in his quest for discovery.
Meidri taught only one student, and immediately ditched the student a week later and tossed him to Watts, literally, complaining that: "The brat destroyed my new work, then blamed and insulted me for it! Teach him your science or whatever it is!" Then grumpily returned to her working place, saying she wouldn't give another chance to teach anybody.
There were Dwarves who lived on the eastern part of my city, living their life in their paradise of precious metals and forgeries, even finding out that they're basically making their runecraft wrongly. Gut instincts after switching to several Level 15 classes, even for a moment.
Amazed, they promised to lend me their services for free.
Unurprisingly, the moment I visited the southern part of the town, where the elves lived, an ethereal spirit showed up to me while his head bowed down in respect.
"Thank you for freeing our descendants, great deity." He spoke, as if showing respect to me.
"Your thanks are received, I'm only doing what I see is right; unifying several races for certain purposes." I replied, putting my hands behind me as I entered a forest-like zone of the town after the spirit vanished like smoke.
If I had noticed earlier, there was a sincere smile on the spirit's face.
And, to be honest, the three races of this town had some distrust with each other, but I am sure that that will be resolved soon enough.
Even so... Dark Elves are pretty rare, aren't they? Right now, there are only around 400 dark elves, 500 dwarves, and 800 elves in this growing town.
I did plan to temporarily leave the for maybe a few years so the events that unfolded months before now were a part of this plan.
Making a stable source of materials, other things they can use, and many people who has the talent or skill to accelerate the development of the town and make it independent from me, even for a long while.
I even placed a shrine that existed in certain towns back in the game, which was just a pillar with a floating crystal above it.
Basically, if the town is in danger, every single person living in this town will gain several tens of buffs, and when the town isn't, it gives a calming and relaxing sensation to anybody near it. Of course, it had some problems, so there were some parts of its "code" I had to modify for their safety. (*2)
So how did I make it? I simply put a tower near my house using world edit, and then began to modify it's "code" and reprogram it.
You know, basic programming I had grown too used to, despite having no keyboard.
Anyways, after the visit with the elves, resulting in them suddenly revering me, the Six blocked my path to my home.
"What? Were you waiting for your nice little reward?" I asked, and a few of them looked very annoyed at me. "I almost forgot, after all I am a simple man, you get what you want."
Slowly creating three random World Items, namely: Longinus, Downfall of Castle and Country, and even Five Elements Overcoming, I gave them to the players, and also giving them at least 5 extra levels for their best racial/job classes, and a good 50 Data Crystals they will definitely use. They were overjoyed afterwards, and most of them began to leave.
"Hey, Admin-san! We would like to return now, it really was nice meeting a lot of people and even you. Though even if we might miss this place, we'll give it a visit soon enough!" Kikotenshi spoke, and being the carefree one, he gave me a peace sign.
"Mmh. Safe travels to you then, but soon enough I'll have to begin finding anyone from Earth who might be transported to this world. After all, it's my job as an admin to keep law and order around this world, despite me not being the one who created it." I responded with a wave.
"I see... we understand such a thing, but even if you act and sound very friendly, some of us will still doubt you." The white mage, Alah Alaf spoke with a soft glare towards me, making me wonder what the hell did the other shitty admins of my server and other servers do...
If there was a chance they appeared too... then I would doubt them more than the players doubted me.
Oh well... no use blabbering about it.
When I was just about to walk towards my home, an armored hand grabbed my shoulder.
"What is it, Sasha?" I asked, turning around to stare at her. "Need something from me, or something out of your chest?"
"I'm coming with you." She spoke, with a semblance of determination insider her eyes. "Just to make sure no funny business goes around with you."
Annoyed, I pulled her hand up and sighed.
"Please don't compare me with them."
With that, I silently put my hands into my pocket, continuing my walk as the redhead followed me after a short conversation with her companions. Soon enough, I would have to inform everyone in this town that I was leaving.
And despite their reluctant expressions, they seemed to understand why. This place is now their safe haven.
But, I will still return at the time of utmost need, or after I am done with my job.
However...
"Hey, chief! Why are you leaving without me knowing until now, huh!?"
Meidri had arrived at the moment he was about to exit his town, and she looked very exhausted and was recently catching her breath.
I looked at her and noticed that her outfit had changed drastically. The raven-haired girl wore goggles and was wearing a brown jacket, a black t-shirt, and a black skirt that reached her knees.
Once she was finished catching her breath, she immediately caught up to me.
"I'm coming with you, whether you like it or not!"
"Fine by me."
My blunt reply had her grumble in expected acceptance as we began our leave.
It wasn't long before I realized that this world had more to offer me, and that this world was even more similar to the earlier beta versions of Yggdrasil, which had the concept of using life force as a means to use magic, rather than the more efficient alternative known as mana.
Oh, how narrow sighted I was...
[ ~ Chapter • End ~ ]
Extra Note:
1: MMOs have several different servers, right? Let's just put that here.
*2: Buffs Include: Twenty stacks of several Stat Boosting buffs, Ten stacks of Blessing, 6th tier magic immunity, Five stacks of Bravery, and Five stacks of Dragonsbane (in case dragons attack the town).
Basically, a 3.10x boost in overall stats and an extra 1.5x boost against dragons.
[ OMAKE ]
Meidri stared at the three decent-sized books that were given to her by Ragna. They looked plain, even their titles were plain, too.
"Tinkering 101, A Guide to Magic Engineering, and Advanced Golem Creation... seems very specific to what I am supposed to do... but why must I read these books?" Meidri commented bemusedly, scratching the back of her ear in an attempt to figure out why Ragna had given them to her.
"It's for your better, if you want to develop quicker, better and more efficiently." Was what he said that night.
It didn't really matter if there were six visitors outside, she'll have to study for days, and until weeks.
Hmmm... he did say something about her having students, but right now she was still pretty skeptical about that topic alone...
She stretched her body like a cat, before beginning to read and study what was inside the books, page by page.
