They could hear a cry of pain from Ron coming from the only room that had a light on, so nudging the door open, Harry, Katherine and Hermione walked in with their wands raised "No, Harry, run. It's him, he's an animagus!" Ron called out to the trio, who turned around and where the dog should be was Sirius Black, looking worse for wear, dressed in rags and covered in dirt.

Hermione quickly stepped forward and pushed harry back "If you want to kill Harry you have to kill us too" she glared and Katherine stood next to her, a dangerous glint in her eyes.

"Oh I dare you to try" she hissed at the murderer who almost looked wary for a moment.

"Only one will die tonight" The man spoke dramatically.

"And it will be you!" Harry yelled, going to run forward but the girls grabbed an arm each. His wand was shaking in his hand, anger getting the better of him. Katherine had never seen her friend so furious, it would almost be scary if she wasn't so mad herself.

Footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs and Hermione yelled for help whilst Harry and Sirius continued to stare at each other "Going to kill me Harry?" Sirius asked in an almost soft voice. His answer was a simple yes. Harry was certain Black was going to die tonight and it would be by his hand.

The door swung open with a band and professor Lupin walked in with his wand help up, pointing it at Black "Looking a bit ragged Sirius, finally the skin reflect the madness within" Lupin spoke in an oddly calm voice.

"You'd know all about the madness within wouldn't you moony old friend" Sirius replied and they stared in silence for a while, tension filling the air until the old friends laughed and embraced tightly, shocking the students. Having enough Katherine raised her wand "Stu-" She started but Lupin cut her off.

"Expelliarmus" He cast quickly, grabbing her wand and looking apologetically at the teenager "Katherine, please listen-" He tried. But Katherine wasn't interested in what he had to say, instead stepping forward and slamming her fist into his jaw, taking the man by surprise with her strength as he was knocked back. Sirius jumped forward to get a hold of the girl but she quickly kicked his shin and when he bent over in pain, kicked her heel into the side of his face.

"I can't believe I trusted you, he's a werewolf" Hermione cried out.

"I can't believe I let you live" Katherine spat at her teacher, reaching down into her boot and pulling out the switchblade she always kept there. "I've been curious for a while if silver affects wizarding werewolves as much as normal ones" She snarled cruelly.

"Katherine, enough" Harry pulled her back.

"How long have you both known?" Remus asked the two girls.

"Since professor Snape set the essay" Hermione replied. Lupin looked at Katherine waiting for a response.

"I'm a Winchester" She spoke coolly "Of course I knew." Lupin nodded, accepting this answer.

"Enough of this" Sirius spoke, wiping blood from his nose much to Katherines satisfaction. "If you aren't going to kill him then I'll do it by myself" the man spat viciously, shooting a glare Katherines way.

Remus grabbed hold of Sirius's forearm in an attempt to clam the accused murderer down "Harry deserves to know the truth, he needs to know why."

"I know why. You betrayed my parents-"

"No" Remus interrupted "I thought that too, until you told me about the map. About who you saw on it. The map doesn't lie Harry, and you're right. Peter Pettigrew was on it, which means he not dead. He's hiding" Remus implored them to understand.

Katherine narrowed her eyes but she had seen weirder things. "Hiding where?" She asked.

"Kathy, you can't be buying this?" Hermione asked.

"Hiding. Where" she repeated much more firmly.

"Hiding there" Sirius replied, pointing at Ron.

"Okay. Now I know you're crazy" Harry glared.

"Not the ginger. The rat!"

They were more confused now than anything. "What does scabbers have to do with this?" Ron asked in fear, clutching the rat tighter.

It clicked for Katherine, it clicked like she had just put all the pieces together in a hunt. There was already one animagus in the room, why couldn't there be two. It would make sense as to why Peter Pettigrew was on the map but nobody ever saw him, it would also make sense as to why he was the only rat crookshanks attacked. "Give him the rat Ron" Katherine spoke slowly.

To her left, Hermione gasped clearly having figured it out to. She turned, pointing her wand at Scabbers. "You two have lost your minds too" Ron cried out.

"He's an animagus Ron. The scabbers is pettigrew." Hermione explained.

"Which means Blacks telling the truth" Katherine added, looking at Harry as she enclosed his hand in her own.

The rat suddenly let out a squeak and tried to make his escape but a few shots from a wand by Remus and Sirius and in place of the beloved pet of Ron Weasley was a short, fat man who was the real person to betray the Potters. Disgust filled the eyes of all looking at him.

It was clear that the plans far as Siirus Black was concerned, was to kill the man who framed him. "No" Harry called out now he understood what was happening. Now he understood the man who was his godfather didn't betray his best friend, that he was innocent. "If you kill him you won't be better than him. We'll give him to the dementors" Harry decided.

"Bless you" Peter simpered, going to touch Harry but Katherine kicked his hand out of the way, a dark expression on his face that scared him into submission.

"I'm not doing it for you. I'm doing it for him. You'll be proven innocent" Harry looked at Sirius with a new perspective. "You'll be free"

That was all Sirius wanted. For people to know he didn't betray Lilly and James potter, for Harry to know the truth. To get the chance to be a godfather. "Come on. We better get going. You mind handing me my wand back?" Kathy asked the werewolf who handed it to her whilst Sirius used the wand he had taken of Ron to tie Pettigrew up before handing it back to the red head "Sorry about the whole, threatening with knife thing by the way. I mean, in my defence, I did think you were about to kill my best friend. You too Black" She added over her shoulder.

"Already forgotten." Black replied with a smile on his face, he looked years younger already.

Getting out of the path under the tree was more difficult than getting in. Hermione and Katherine helped Ron stumble out- his leg looking more mangled by the moment. Harry walked with Sirius who dragged pettigrew behind him on a rope whilst Remus helped a still unconscious Snape make his way out, all of them ignoring Kathy and Rons suggestions to just leave him there.

As they made it back to Hogwarts grounds, the crisp air providing a cool breeze that had Katherine closing her eyes and throwing her arms out as if embracing the air. For a moment everything seemed like it was going to work out. Pettigrew was captured, Sirius was going to be free. Snape was still to unconscious to punish them-

And then a pained growl left Remus's mouth.

"Its a full moon!" Hermione exclaimed.

"Go!" Katherine yelled, she grabbed the knife she had previously used to threaten the professor.

"Kathy-" Harry called but she ignored him. Instead taking her defensive stance and preparing to attack. This is what she was trained for after all.

Watching the transformation of a wizarding werewolf was different to a muggle who had been turned. It looked much more painful for one, and as she ran forward ready to punch and stab with the silver switch-blade she learnt they were much stronger. She barely got her knife into his chest before sharp claws swiped her shoulder and through her half a mile across the grounds, sending her into darkness.

Hi...

I didn't realise it had been over a year since I updated. I can't apologise enough and for those people still reading it or still asking for an update, thank you. Funnily enough I did have the first half of this written up for months but I couldn't finish it. I don't like how this ended up either but I do have plans for the future of this story now I feel like I'm back into the swing of things.

I do actually have a good excuses as to why I haven't written anything in a while, other than the writers block which was part of it. I like to write when I'm happy and unfortunately over the last year I've been in and out of hospital which you can imagine didn't exactly leave me in a good mood. However there are plenty of positives. Since I last update I've turned 19, I have changed jobs, joined college and am currently two months away from becoming a qualified TA. I was also accepted into uni so I start September and I'm moving out of home into my own flat for the first time in a couple months so all very exciting.

Thank you again for those of you who are still here and I hope to update soon.
