CHAPTER 17

- From bad to worse -

ITACHI'S P.O.V

As the loud bang echoed though the hallway hurting my ears it didn't take me long to get in motion. I knew where the sound came from like I was expecting it all the time but was only wating for it to happen and who's clearly responsible for it. The thought made my blood boil in my veins. He's here. In the same hospital as my brother.

In one second I was standing completely still and the next I was running at full speed to Sasuke's room. I had to push a nurse out of my way (who fell on the white floor) as I ran as fast as I could to the room my little brother has stayed his entire visit in the hospital.

The door to the room was slightly ajar but I didn't care. I bursted in through the doors making the door hit the wall with wood breaking force. I didn't care if it alarmed the intruder inside.

There standing in the middle of the room was a man I recognized as Mr. Kimoto, his hand stretched out with something black in his hand. A gun.

Mr. Kimoto who was now turning his head to see who came in through the doors didn't have much time to react because I was already running towards him. I painfully tackled him on the floor and I heard a metal hitting on the ground. From the corner of my eye I could see the gun rolling away from us.

Good, I think as I push the man on the floor with all my power.

The whole time I press the man on the floor I can't help but think why he doesn't struggle. I look at the bastard and see him smiling at me. Something's wrong. I feel a cold shiver ran down my back. Something's definitely wrong, there's no doubt.

If looks could kill this man would already be dead. The glare I'm currently giving him is filled with poison that I wish would drop on his face and melt it away. The thought of that disgusting face disappearing from the planet gave me some sort of sick pleasure but I didn't think much of it.

A strangled sob sounded behind me and I turn my head to see where did it come from. My gaze land on a sight I never would want to see in my life again.

There, on the hospital bed, is my brother holding Sakura whose front of the shirt is red with blood. The dark liquid covering the lower parts of her face and slowly dripping downwards. A lump rose in my throat and I tried to swallow it back with much effort. The disgust and fright started to change the more I looked at the scene before me: Sasuke cradling Sakura's limp body, her eyes closed as if she was in asleep. This man under me caused it. His the reason for my little brother's sadness.

Even bigger anger started to boil within me and my hand holding Mr. Kimoto's hand released its tight hold and pulled back. A bone braking sound filled the room as my hand came in touch with the runaway's face. The sick pleasure I got when I thought of his face disappearing came back as the man let out a whine as I hit him again causing blood to pour from his broken nose. I'm not sure how many more times I connected my hand with his face because suddenly everything blurred and started to move slowly.

For a while I had thought the nurses were deaf because even an idiot would recognize the sound of a gunshot. Like in a cue the room started to get filled with nurses walking hastily around or right now from my point of view, in slow motion. Everything was a big blur. Light green clothes ran around and in some unknown moment I was pulled up from my position on the floor and Mr. Kimoto was pulled roughly out of the room. I was placed on the couch carefully by one of the nurses who immediately left my side when I was settled on the cushions.

Something ear piercing sound broke the bubble I was in. Everything came clear once again and started to move normally and I realized that the sound came from Sasuke. He yelled at the nurses who now were taking Sakura's limp body quickly out of the room. Two male nurses were holding my brother in place and looked like they were having problem keeping him in place.

Sasuke was trying to get to Sakura I realized, 'He's worried and scared,' came my thoughts 'the doctors are here to help her but he doesn't get it. I guess Sasuke is in a shock and doesn't understand what the doctors are trying to do. My muscles came in action like they did when I attacked Mr. Kimoto the second the other nurse's hold on Sasuke's slipped.

I sprinted off the couch and took a tight hold of Sasuke's now free arm.

"Sasuke!" I yelled at him trying to catch his attention but he continued his struggles yelling us to let go of him.

"I'll get the sedative." The nurse whose place I took said and left the room quickly. I just hoped he would be back soon because Sasuke is not the easiest thing to hold in place especially in the mood he is. Must be the adrenaline.

It didn't take long for the nurse to come back and inject the liquid in Sasuke's bloodstream. Slowly his strggles weakened and soon he was sitting limply, me and the other nurse holding him in his position. We carefully placed him on his back and tucked him under the blankets.

NORMAL P.O.V

After Itachi was sure Sasuke wouldn't wake up and start his rummage again, he walked outside the building. He felt his muscle start to relax as he took deep breaths to calm down. He could feel the headache coming, it only needed something to trigger it. You almost couldn't notice it there but it was coming and Itachi was sure of it.

He dug his hand in the pocket of his jeans and pulled out his phone. The number he was looking for was easily found because not too long ago he had called in the same number.

"Itachi?" A familiar voice of his father's filled his ears andhe took another deep breath.

"A situation has come up." Itachi tiredly said to him.

"Did they found the bastard?"There was no way of not noticing the anger Fugaku felt towards Mr. Kimoto.

"Yeah-," Itachi was able to start but was cut off by Fugaku, "From where?"

"At the hospital."

"What?!" And there the headache is. His day has taken a turn from bad to worst. Just his luck.

"And it all ended up Sasuke being sateted and Sakura getting shot." He might as well tell everything.

Some rustling came through the phone, "Father?"

"I'll be there in 10 minutes" And the line died.

Soon after Fugaku arrived with Mikoto, Sakura's mother too arrived looking frightened and obviously shocked. Mikoto's instinct surfaced and she began calming the terrified woman down. To put it bluntly they all looked a little shaken. None of them expected that psycho to come barging in the hospital or even find the location were they were staying but apparently Mr. Kimoto has more connections than anyone thought and this made chills ran down Fugaku's back. He vowed to himself that he would make sure that bastard of a man would never ever see daylight again or even breath the same air as his family.

Itachi and Fugaku left the two woman sitting on the hallway waiting for the surgeon to save Sakura's life. There's nothing more terrifying than waiting especially when it's about you own child.

Mikoto knew how the woman felt. Sasuke had to go through surgery too after the car accident but the doctor were 60 percent sure he would make it but now the chances were even less.

Sakura had lost a lot of blood when she had jumped before the bullet originally meant for Sasuke. The bullet had pierced her chest piercing a lung and going through one of the ribs. But still luckily missing her heart which was only few cents away.

Mikoto felt thankful for the young teen and also pride but of course sadness. Thankful she was because that young woman saved his sons life by risking her own and pride because she's the girl his son is in love with. Sadness was evident, this strong brave teen is now fighting for her life in the operating room. She knew if Sakura died right now her son would be devastated.

After three long hours a male doctor came out of the operating room, "Ms Haruno?"

"I am." Sakura's mother straightened her posture and fixed her shirt.

"We just finished your daughter's operation and for now it was successful but right now she's in coma." The doctor explained carefully.

"Wh-why is she in coma?" She stuttered back.

"Her body's reaction to the injury we think. But it is very likely that she'll wake up. The only problem now is her blood loss and if her wound will get infected or lung will collapse. So for now we will keep her in ICU for monitoring." The doctor looked sympathetic and gave a small smile at the two females.

"When I'll be able to see her?"

"The nurse will come get you from here and take you to her room when she's settled there." He said and turned to leave.

When the doctor had disappeared from their sight, the Sayuri bursted out crying again and Mikoto pulled her against her chest while saying comforting words.

"This is all my fault..." She blamed herself as she cried her heart out.

"No it isn't. You just didn't know this would happen." The raven haired woman petted the hair of the crying one. "Everything's going to be okay. I'm sure of it."

Fugaku and Itachi had ended up in Sasuke room who was still under the effect of sedative. He looked so calm and relaxed as he just laid there, like nothing had happened and he just fell asleep as if any other day.

"You can go find mom. I can stay here until he wakes up." Itachi looked at his father who seemed to be deep in thought.

Fugaku merely nodded not even looking at the younger man.

Itachi wasn't expecting any word from the Uchiha matriarch but he did, "The last few days I've been in close contact whit Eiji Harushi." He couldn't help but think that was his thoughts right.

"We were planning on arranging a marriage between her daughter and Sasuke." Itachi smirked and that didn't go unnoticed.

"What?" Fugaku looked puzzled.

"I realized it the moment you started asking me about Sasuke's relationship with Sakura. It was too obvious." It's not everyday one can make Fugaku Uchiha look startled but Itachi succeeded in it.

"Also Sasuke know," Itachi added casually.

Fugaku nodded looking down on the shiny hospital floor.

A knock on the door made both men turn their heads as a black haired woman elegantly walked in. Mikoto Uchiha.

"Where's Sakura's mother?" Itachi asked first.

"She was allowed to see Sakura and wanted to go alone for awhile but I told her I'll be there soon too." Mikoto smiled sadly and turned her gaze from her husband and eldest son to her youngest son laying motionlessly under the white sheets.

"He hasn't woken up yet.." It wasn't a question but a statement.

"Well, I'll go now she Sayuri. I just wanted to see my baby boy too." Mikoto smiled sweetly as she mentioned her son, "Itachi would you stay here and watch over him?"

"I was already planning on that." Itachi answered.

"And if you don't mind my phone's been buzzing in pocket the whole time I've been here so I have to get to work." Fugaku looked at his wife.

"Of course honey. We'll contact you immediately if something happens." Mikoto went and kissed her husbands cheek who gave a small hug and left without forgetting to give Itachi a slight nod.

"You go see Sakura." Itachi said to his mother.

"Yeah, but could you tell Sasuke when he wakes up that Sakura is being taken care of and Mr. Kimoto was taken by police."

"Of course mother." With that said Mikoto left the room quietly.

Itachi turned around to look at his brother once again, "You couldn't pick a less troublesome girl, could you?" Itachi smirked to himself.

He was pretty sure there will be a lot of twist and turns in their relationship especially if you consider what had already happened between them in this short period of time.

Suddenly something got Itachi's eye. Sasuke had crunched up his nose and furrowed his brows.

A silent breath left his mouth, "Sasuke..."

Then the younger boy began opening his eyes.

Mikoto had accompanied Sayuri to Sakura's room after she left her sons room. The rooms didn't differ from each other much but Sakura's room had more monitors, tubes and cords. The closer you were to the young teens bed the more careful you had to be not to step on anything or pull accidentally anything. It was like walking in a labyrinth without walls.

Sayuri wasn't crying no more but was holding her daughters hand tightly in her own.

"Her hand's cold." The pink haired woman suddenly said earning a look of confusion from the ravenette until she realized what she meant.

"Sayuri, she lost a lot of blood. It's normal." Mikoto placed a comforting hand on the worried mother's shoulder.

"I know.." Sayuri sighed, "It's just-"

A sudden beeping sound interrupted her. Both woman looked up to see it was Sakura's heartrate decreasing and the monitor showing it was warning of how low it was.

In a second the line went straight and Sayuri's heart dropped.

I didn't say there would be a happy ending but this isn't the last chapter.
