89 – You're It For Me

~*~Ashley's PoV~*~

The morning seemed like a blur. All the hustle and bustle between getting the kids dressed, makeup and hair done on the wedding party and making sure we were all on time. It was nothing but a messy yet colourful blur.

Spencer had left with Paula, Carmen, Kyla and Lucas to get ready at Kyla's place. Arthur, Aiden, and Anton took Matthew under their care to help him get his Ring Bearer tux on. Dylan and Cailyn begged to be with Alex and Sammy as they made sure the band, Cera, was set up and ready to go. I made Alex promise to keep on schedule and to not feed the girls any sugar. Cailyn inherited Aiden's chocolate addiction and a sugar-induced child is not something any of us want on our hands at the moment. I'd feed her all the chocolate in the world once the wedding was over.

For now I needed to focus on the wedding; the wedding that was about to happen in less than an hour.

I was giddy inside and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

"You look gorgeous." Aunt Greta came up behind me and pulled at my grey pinstriped jacket, adjusting the collar. "Your parents are probably crying waterfalls up there. Their little girl is marrying the only person they ever approved of." She chuckled with a watery laugh.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and dabbed my makeup. "I'm going to cry, stop." I smiled to show her I was only half serious.

"Well it's true my niece. Your parents raved about you, even when you didn't think they cared. They only ever wanted what was best for you, whether it was with school or your love life. They commented on how miserable you seemed when you and Spencer broke up in high school." Aunt Greta adjusted my tie and then patted my shoulders before pulling me into a hug. "You'll always be a daughter to me. I know I can't replace them but your Uncle Vic and I will always be there for you and your beautiful family."

I was full out crying now and knew I'd have to have my makeup redone but it was worth it. I barely had a chance to grieve with my family about the tragedy of my parents. At that moment, wrapped up in my Aunt Greta's arms, my Dad's sister, it was like the final closure I needed to truly grasp what had happened and move on.

I was going to marry the love of my life, my best friend. I had three gorgeous children. Two, not one, but two careers that I loved doing and a huge family that surrounded us with more love than one could imagine possible.

My parents would be proud and they'd be dancing with joy knowing that I went for it and got the girl in the end.

"Oh Ashley, you look absolutely beautiful." Uncle Vic came into the room and placed his hand over his heart, crocodile tears in his eyes. "I'm speechless."

"Uncle Vic, you're going to make me cry again and I need to redo my makeup already." I sniffled through a laugh as he embraced me and kissed the top of my head.

"You've made me proud." He whispered and held me tighter before letting me go and looking at me once more. "Now, the car is here so let's get you to your gorgeous Spencer and get you hitched." He winked at me then at Aunt Greta.

"Are you ready for this?" Aunt Greta teased and I nodded.

"My whole life, I've never been ready for anything else as much as I am marrying that woman."

"Good." She moved out of the way so Liz, a makeup artist Kyla had insisted on using, made adjustments to my face.

Before I knew it, the car stopped at the destination I had carefully picked out. I had some strings pulled to reserve the place but once I dropped the name Spencer Carlin, I was golden.

I got out of the limo and immediately felt the sticky heat. I wasn't dressed for the hot summer weather so good thing the wedding wouldn't be taking place outside.

At first I had wanted to plan for the wedding to be at The Pond. A special place that had held so many memories I had shared with Spencer. The more I had thought about it though, the more I realized it was a place that we shared intimate, romantic moments. I proposed to her there on New Years so I figured ruling that place out would be safe.

I couldn't pull off a wedding at a church because it didn't seem like us at all. I had to choose carefully for it to really mean something; and as I stare at the place I had chosen, I realized that it could potentially erase every bad and hurtful thing I had said to Spencer right before Graduation.

I wanted this day to be special for the both of us, but more so for her. She deserved to have the wedding of her dreams, even if she didn't believe in marriage at one point.

"Taking it all in?" Aiden stepped up next to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulder.

"Yeah," I breathed, "just taking it all in."

~*~Spencer's PoV~*~

"You look so gorgeous, Mom." Lucas breathed in awe when I stepped out of house.

My mom had tears in her eyes and Kyla was nodding in approval. Carmen stood there with her jaw dropping nearly to ground. "Carm, snap it shut." I chuckled before she actually blushed.

"Ashley is one lucky lady." Carmen grabbed my hand and had me turn around. "I mean it, she really is." She smiled softly.

"I know you mean it, and thank you." I shared her smile before glancing at Lucas. "And no one looks more beautiful than you, Luc." She actually turned a little red but would later claim it was from the sun.

Kyla clapped her hands and bounced in her heels before adjusting her black simple dress. "We need to get to the ar-ouch! Carmen!" She rubbed her side where Carmen elbowed her and smiled innocently at me.

"Area, the area where you're getting married." Carmen finished Kyla's sentence before clapping her hands together and luring my side of the wedding party into the limo.

"Where are we going?" I asked my mom, who shrugged and ignored me to look at all the cool gadgets in the car. "Lucas?" I offered her my puppy dog eyes but she shook her head. She wouldn't tell me anything either.

"Just calm down, we'll be there in no time." Kyla waved her hand nonchalantly and smiled at Carmen, holding her hand out for something. I watched as Carmen dug into her purse and grabbed a silky piece of cloth. "Now, hold still."

"What? Seriously?" I glared at her and shook my head. "No way in hell you're blindfolding me."

"Mom." Lucas raised an eyebrow at me. "Momma is going all out with this and if you know where we're going by the time we hit that stop sign, it'll be for nought."

I blinked at my daughter. "For nought? Where did you even learn that?"

"Like I've been telling you, Jai has been making me do my homework and teaching me in the process. So, put this on." Lucas said in her famous Carlin resolve voice.

I huffed and allowed Kyla to wrap the black silk around my eyes. "Can you see?"

"Nope." I leaned back in my seat and straightened out my satin grey dress.

I tried to make a game out of sitting there blindfolded, guessing where we were going. I grew up in Midtown and I would've exclaimed I knew the roads like the back of my hand but I had no clue where the driver was taking us. For a while there I started to wonder if Ashley had the ceremony at The Pond. Then I remembered what we were all wearing and she wouldn't make Matthew wear his long sleeve tuxedo or the girls wear black dresses on a hot day like today.

As we turned the final corner, I was officially stumped as to where we were. When the car pulled to a complete stop and doors started opening, I was feeling anxious.

Not a "cold feet" anxious, just that if Ashley went through all of this trouble in keeping it all a big surprise for me, it had to be huge.

I stood on the pavement and listened as people exited their vehicles and kids playing in the background. "Okay, are you ready?" I heard my mom ask me and all I could do was nod.

I felt Lucas take my hand and we started to walk along a paved walkway. I avoided tripping or stumbling and then we came to complete stop. I heard a few whispers and then a pat on the back. "See you inside, Spence." Carmen murmured and swatted my butt gently before I felt like I was left alone.

I wasn't sure ifI was supposed to move ahead or wait. Just as I was about to take another step forward, a hand slid around my waist and lips pressed against my ear. "Watch your step, Beautiful."

"Ashley." I breathed and tried to pull my blindfold off but she stopped me.

"Not yet." She whispered and shifted me so I was facing her. She cupped my face and kissed me so softly, I thought our lips were going to melt together. "I love you, Spencer Dylan Carlin."

"I love you, too." I met her voice in a whisper and pulled on the lapels of her jacket, kissing her once more.

"You look so stunning. So stunning." Ashley moved her hands down my waist to grip my hips. "I'm never letting you go again."

"You better not." I ran my hands down her arms before inhaling deeply. "So are we getting married out here or…?"

Ashley laughed and grabbed my hands. "I've put a lot of thought into this, Spence. I went through pros and cons and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to bind our lives to this place since it holds so much for us." I felt her squeeze my hands and take a deep breath. "I really really hope you like the choices I've made." She placed her fingers over my lips when I went to say something and kissed me briefly.

Ashley helped me up the four-step staircase and opened the door for me. That was when the scent hit me like a ton of bricks. The smells of cool air and ice drowning my senses and I choked up slightly. Then I felt her trembling fingers untie the blindfold and slowly I was hit with light.

I blinked a few times to adjust my eyes but when I finally focused, I saw the lengths Ashley had gone through. The lobby was filled with grey, black and white streamers with a banner reading: Best Wishes Carlin-Davies.

"Ash." I breathed and then my vision was blurry again as every single memory we shared in this place came rushing to me. It was like a storybook coming to life in my head.

Once we were inside the skating rink area, Ashley kissed me again. "I'll see you up there, Carlin." She winked and walked down the cement stairs to the ice. I nearly stumbled when I noticed black carpet covered over half the ice and chairs were set up for the guests to sit on. The wedding party had risers to stand on and the place with filled with candles. Candles placed just how I had them when I surprised Ashley with a Valentine's dinner back in high school.

I barely registered my dad stepping up next to me and linking his arm with mine. "I've been waiting for this day since you were seventeen. Let me tell you, I'm glad you didn't marry Aiden."

I laughed softly and pulled him closer to me. "Me too."

The music started and I was being led down the stairs and to the bottom level. Every seat that was set up had someone sitting in them. They all stood and I swallowed when I realized all eyes were on me. You'd think I'd be used to the attention because of my earlier career on the ice, but this was different. I was center of attention and people were crying or sniffling and some of them I had no clue who they were. Some had cameras so I knew they were press of some kind.

I still couldn't believe Ashley had pulled this off. Every inch of the place was decorated and thoroughly thought through.

With each step I was taking, memories upon memories were flashing through my head. The first time Ashley had met me with a coffee in hand. The games she'd tagged along with Alex to and then that one time she trapped me in the shower. A memory like that brought a smile to my face and I looked ahead to see Ashley staring back at me with a knowing smile of her own.

Everything felt like it was going in slow motion. My feet were moving steadily but somehow I still couldn't process the fact that I was about to marry Ashley. The sounds of quiet gasps, happy tears and camera's clicking blurred into hallow noises. My vision was tunneled and Ashley was the very center of it.

One more step and I was standing at the front. My dad had leaned down and kissed my forehead before doing the same action to Ashley. We both had tears in our eyes, realizing that moment was it.

It was everything.

Lucas squeezed my hand, Dylan winked at me from her spot beside Aiden and finally I felt Ashley's hand slide in mine, kissing it gently before turning us to face Rev. Hill. She was a close friend of both my parents and the Dennison's and had been honoured when Ashley asked her to marry us.

"You girls ready for this?" Rev. Hill whispered with a smile and took both of our hands.

"Since we were seventeen." We both answered at the same time and that earned a chuckled from everyone.

"Well let's get you two married." She winked and stepped back, clearing her throat. "Family and friends, we have been invited here today to share with, Ashley Avery Davies and Spencer Dylan Carlin, a very important moment in their lives. They have been through trial and error yet found a way back to each other. They've shared many first memories and have a lifetime to share and create many more. A love like theirs is rare and I personally believe it takes a lot of patience to make it all fit together. With their little family of beautiful children and happiness, I have no doubt they are set to go far and never look back."

Ashley nodded and let out a watery chuckle before taking my hand and squeezing it.

"If any person has objections as to why Ashley and Spencer may not be joined together, speak now or forever hold their peace." Rev. Hill paused for a brief moment before continuing with a heartwarming smile.

~*~Ashley's PoV~*~

I was staring into an endless pool of bluish grey orbs. Her smile melted me right through my soul and I knew I had yet to stop falling in love with Spencer. It was impossible to stop falling and I never wanted it to.

Papa C and Uncle Vic had just finished giving us away and now Rev. Hill was back to speaking a reading she had picked out. It was probably bad that I tuned her out slightly but I couldn't help but relive watching Spencer walk down that aisle over and over again.

"Ashley," Spencer smiled and I realized it was time to say our vows. She squeezed my hand and bit her lip before raising an eyebrow. "You first." She stage whispered and the front row laughed at my dumbfound expression.

I hummed quietly before licking my lips and straightening out my posture. I took both of her hands in mind and smiled softly. "What can I say about this day? So far it has been magical and more than I could have ever imagined. You make me complete, Spence. You're the reason for my strength, you're the reason I became the person I am today. You've taught me so much from the very first day I met you. I fell so hard and so fast that I never had a chance to catch myself. It all just clicks with you. I love you more than you know and I can't believe we are here." I watched her sniffled and wipe the tears out of her eyes. "I've made many mistakes in my life and one regret with you. I let you go and I wish I hadn't that first time but at the same time, I'm thankful that I did. I had time to grow and appreciate the love we shared back then and the one we share now. We're on the same page and I'm just so happy. I vow, I promise to keep you happy, safe and loved for the rest of our lives. I promise you'll get everything you want. You're it for me, Carlin, you're the one." I finished with a slight crack in my voice.

Spencer took the tissue that Lucas offered us and smiled gratefully at her. She shook her head and dabbed her eyes before chuckling. "You messed up my mascara, jerk."

I laughed and squeezed her hand tighter, growing impatient that I couldn't kiss her yet.

Spencer inhaled and exhaled slowly before blinking and shaking her head, composing herself before looking at me. "You're everything I've ever wanted, Ash. I have you. Thirteen years later and I'm still that seventeen year old falling in love with her boyfriend's cousin. You moved me. They say it's not possible to be that young and find the one. Well, we just proved them wrong. We had hard times but in the end, we found our way back to each other and that flame we had set in the beginning only grew brighter and stronger. I promise to always take care of you. I vow to be your strength, your heart, your everything from here on out. I love you, Ashley and I can't wait to start this chapter together."

It was safe to say we were both blubbering messes by the end of the vows. I glanced around and realized we weren't the only ones. Momma C was blowing her nose in a napkin and Aunt Greta's face was red from all the tears. Papa C was clearing his throat, trying not to look like he was on the verge of tears and Uncle Vic lost his fight when he caught me looking at him. I was just happy they were all happy tears.

How could they not be happy when I'm in the middle of marrying an amazing woman like Spencer?

I bent down to Matthew when he approached us with the rings and gave him a kiss on the forehead. "You look good little man." I smiled at him and his big green eyes blinked before he flashed a toothless smile.

Spencer took that opportunity and kissed his cheek as she grabbed a ring and clutched it in her hand. Matthew stood there in front of us, on his toes so he could see us put the rings on. Everyone must have thought it was adorable because the arena was filled with 'awws'.

We shared a small quiet moment while we shakily exchanged rings and I swallowed hard because the moment was about to present itself. The moment where everything became sealed and official:

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you Mrs. Ashley and Spencer Davies." Everyone started to cheer so loud that Rev. Hill had to stand on a riser and yell as loud as she could, "you may now kiss your bride!"

I cupped Spencer's face and just took a second to look at her before I ducked my head and captured her lips in a short heated kiss.

I was married.

I was finally married to the one woman who made me want to be a better person.

"We did it." Spencer exclaimed happily before pulling me back in another passionate kiss. She dipped me and the arena was filled with echoes of cheering and whistling. She brought me back up and hugged me.

"We did." I whispered into her neck, closing my eyes and etching this moment forever into my memories.
