Emotions of Trusting an Old Friend
Ruby is seen laying on the ground in the early morning of Mistral with a bright smile on her face, and a few shadows came in blocking the sun as she looks up see her older sister with Catra and Melog.
"You're up early." Yang chuckled.
"Can't say why, but I guess seeing a nice view like this can make one feel happy." Catra commented.
"You can say that again." Swift Wind agreed, popping his head into the scene.
"Hey, guys." Ruby chuckled, and Yang dangle her hair down onto Ruby's nose to make her giggle.
"So, what are you guys doing up?" Ruby asked.
"Can't go back to sleep." Yang answered.
"Adora is being loud with her snoring, so I decided to have an early morning walk with Melog." Catra explained her reason as she pets Melog's head making her purr.
"I always wake up this early ready for a new day of being a free horse and being a symbol of many mighty horses to all!" Swift Wind bragged with a grin making Catra roll her eyes.
"Well, fortunately, coffee exists." Weiss walked in carrying a tray with four cups of coffee for each, Yang and Ruby smile seeing their friend coming.
"Oh, that smells nice." Catra said.
"I'm not good with coffee, remember?" Ruby pointed out.
"Don't worry, I put in blasphemous amounts of cream and sugar, just for you." Weiss informed as she handed one cup to Ruby.
"Oh yeah! Nice Weiss strikes again!" Ruby excitedly as she was about to grab the cup, but Weiss pull the cup back.
"I will pour this on you, and it will burn." Weiss warned before giving her the cup.
"You know, I never really thought of myself being in another universe entirely. Planets, I can understand because me and Adora and others did space travel, but another universe is crazy." Catra stated with a little laugh.
"I still can't believe you guys can space travel. Remnant has been struggling with that since Dusts uses their powers when they leave the atmosphere." Yang explained.
"Maybe because you guys need to find a different energy source than Dusts, and I'm sure Entrapta wouldn't mind helping you out with that." Catra said.
"You know, I've been through a lot of things when I was forced to come back to Atlas with my father and I was worried that I'd never see you two again." Weiss admitted.
"Well, here's to defying expectations." Yang smiled and the three friends clapped their cups together.
Ruby drinks her cup and looking at the sky, hearing Weiss about wanting to see her friends again made her think about one last member of team RWBY who isn't here with them, and that makes her feel worried.
"I just wish Blake could be here with us." Ruby said.
Hearing her little sister and leader say that name change Yang's expression to a soft angry face.
"Yeah, well, she made her choice." Yang said which surprises the two while Catra and the animals are confused.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Weiss asked.
"I mean she could've been here if she just stuck around. It's no big deal though. We'll be fine." Yang proclaimed, drinking her coffee again.
"So, you don't want this Blake girl to be here though you still want her really badly?" Catra asked with a trick question.
"What? Of course, I don't want her because she chose not to be with us anymore." Yang stated, sounding a little louder and anger.
"Okay, calm down." Weiss advised.
"Don't tell me to calm down!" Yang yelled with her eyes turning red.
Ruby and Weiss are startle from the sudden outburst of their blonde fighter while Swift Wind steps back a foot or two while Melog growls at Yang, but Catra calms her down and just look at Yang with concern in her eyes.
"Yang, maybe you should go back inside." Catra said.
"Whatever." Yang stood up and walked back to the house.
Oscar walks into the living room because of how much of an early morning person he is since he was raised in a farm, and saw Yang come in wanting to wish her a good morning but she just walked past him with a slight angry expression that got him concern.
"So, I take it this Blake chick hurt Yang the most?" Catra asked.
"You could say that. I think Yang wanted to be close with Blake, more than just friends it would seem." Weiss believed, remembering how those two have always been together the most.
"More than friends? I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that, but I think I might be getting the idea." Ruby said.
"Keep thinking on it and you'll get it." Weiss said.
"Anyway, when Beacon fell and we might it to safety, Blake just ran away the moment we landed, and her wound was patched up." Weiss mentioned.
"I take it that incident has something to do with her dark past that she hopes would never find her nor turn out bad." Catra guessed.
"How do you know that?" Ruby asked surprise.
"Oh, that's because Catra used to be part of an evil army. I think she mentioned that." Swift Wind mentioned.
"Oh yeah, she did." Ruby remembered that now.
"Mind if I get the story, I think I might be able to help the girl out." Catra asked.
Weiss and Ruby look at each other for a moment about wanting to share a touchy subject to someone who is still new in the group, but they also know that Catra might be able to help since she and Adora were part of the Evil Horde.
(Later)
Yang went into her room and sat on the bed for a long while, she looks down at a picture frame with the words "NEW FRIENDS" on it as this was taken by Ruby after the sisters became a team with Weiss and Blake, and her eyes went to Blake feeling sadden and angry of how she just ran away like that.
"Yeah…" Yang sighed.
Then she heard the door open and a few footsteps.
"Look Ruby, I really don't want to talk about it, okay? Can you just leave me alone for a bit?" Yang said, not trying to sound mean to her little sister.
"Good thing she let us go have a talk with you." Catra said.
Yang is surprise to hear the voice isn't Ruby's and look up to see both Weiss and Catra standing at the doorway into the way.
"Oh, hey Weiss, Catra, did you two need something?" Yang asked.
"Yeah, about you and this Blake girl." Catra answered as they enter with Weiss closing the door.
"Hope you don't mind an extra support. Oscar just told me how you came in looking angry." Perfuma entered as well.
Yang let out a sigh somehow knowing this was gonna be the case as Weiss sat on the bed next to her and Catra leans her back against a wall.
"I know she's our teammate, but I'm not just going to change my mind. I'm sorry, I just... I don't think you know what it's like to be left. You have a giant family, recitals to perform at, dinners to attend. I didn't have any of that. My mom left me. Ruby's mom left too. My dad, Tai was always busy with school and Ruby couldn't even talk yet. I had to pick up the pieces. I had to keep things together. Alone." Yang explained how she's always been besides the adventure thrilling girl.
"Damn, sounds like your life was a bitch." Catra commented.
"Catra!" Weiss said in a scolding tone.
"No, she's right. My life was a bit of a bitch, but there were some good things too." Yang smiled a bit.
"Which is why I think you're being an idiot for not giving Blake a chance to earn your trust back for when she does come back to you." Catra stated.
"Seriously?" Yang raised an eyebrow.
"How about we hear what Weiss has to say about this." Catra suggested as she looks over at Weiss who gave her a nod.
"When I was ten, my dad finally admitted to my mom that the only reason he married her was for the family name. It was actually on my birthday." Weiss revealed, shocking the three of them.
"He missed the big dinner, she got mad, he finally snapped. I think she already knew. Looking back, I think I knew too. But hearing him say it finally pushed her over the edge." Weiss explained how it went.
"Now I already don't like your dad." Catra said.
"I can't believe a man would do such a thing, to not truly care about his own family nor show any actual love at all… I don't know if I would be able to feel okay from that." Perfuma gasped.
"It gets worse from there. First it was separate lunches and dinners, opposite balconies at my recitals, a glass of wine here, a glass of wine there. Then, it was no dinners, no recitals, a bottle of wine here and... well, you get the idea." Weiss explained.
"I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have assumed." Yang apologized.
"You're right though. I don't know loneliness like you do. I have my own version. And, I'll bet Blake has her own version too." Weiss said.
"She doesn't have to be alone though. I was here for her. We all were! She chose to leave us." Yang stated.
"Do you really think she made the "wise" choice back there?" Catra asked, confusing Yang.
"Yang, don't you think that maybe Blake has been feeling more of a burden to you guys?" Perfuma asked as well.
"I… I don't know." Yang said.
"The entire time Blake was at Beacon, she was afraid to open up to people. She tried to keep her past separated from us. She tried to protect us. Eventually, those walls she put up came down. And the moment they did, the one thing she was afraid of actually happened. The universe proved her right." Weiss stated.
"No one blamed her for anything! If she had just talked to us, she would've known that! How could I be there for her if she doesn't let me? What if I needed her here for me?" Yang asked with her hands on her face.
"I may not have met Blake, but from what I heard about her. I'm sure that kitty is thinking about you even now." Catra believed.
"Even though she left me?" Yang asked.
"I know it's not easy. I wish she hadn't left too. The only thing we can do now is be there for her when she's ready. When she comes back." Weiss smiled.
"If she comes back." Yang denied that possibility.
"Now, now, Yang, you should give up on your friend like that." Perfuma pointed out.
"She's right, we should never give up on the ones we hold dear to us. She will come back to us, You, Ruby, and even Blake are more like family to me than my brother or even my own father. I would do anything for you three, and I'm willing to bet Blake feels the same way. So, when she's ready, I'll be there for her. And I know we're not as close, but... I'm here for you too." Weiss confessed with a smile.
"And who knows, maybe you two will also become lovers." Catra grinned.
"W-What, me and Blake… Lovers? I don't know what are you talking about." Yang tried to deny that claim, but her blushing cheeks are stutter voice are not helping.
"Take from me, I've been denying my loneness the more I got in the Horde and even tried to turn my back on the ones who tried to be my friend, but I soon came to realize what I really wanted and even decided to come clean with my feelings for Adora. Well, it was at the moment when the major bad guy was about to win, but better timing, I say." Catra bragged making Yang laugh.
"Yang, you may not forgive Blake right away, but you should least let her try to earn it." Perfuma advised.
"Yeah, maybe you guys are right. I'll give Blake a chance." Yang nodded.
Meanwhile, outside of the room, Oscar has been listening to the conversation with Melog and can tell that everything is going to be okay with those girls.
"Hey Oscar, were you going to ask Yang something?" Ruby asked walking up to him.
"No, I believe everything is fine." Oscar smiled and petted Melog making her purr.
"I'm gonna find Spinneralla for some training, wanna come?" Oscar decided to do some training for a bit.
"I'll meet up with you, just gotta check on my big sister." Ruby said.
"She is lucky to have a brave rose like you." Oscar complimented as he walks away.
"Oh, thanks." Ruby blushed from that compliment.
Melog looks at Ruby seeing that her face is turning red and can tell that she is feeling something for that Oscar boy, it must be how her friend Catra always feels toward Adora.
(Nighttime, with Blake)
"Okay, you ready to go do some recruiting?" Scropia asked exciting.
"You bet I am!" Sun answered with excitement as well.
"But does it have to be so late? I think it would be better if just did this in the morning after breakfast like before." Mermista complained.
While the others are talking about the recruitment, Blake is outside on the balcony thinking about her friends like Team RWBY and a little mostly about Yang. It has been several months since she ran away after the Fall of Beacon, and she can still remember the shock look on Yang's face when she ran.
"(Yang, I hope you're okay.)" Blake thought concerned for the blonde girl.
"Blake, are you ready to go?" Sun asked.
Blake was about to respond when she felt something on the fence, it felt like paper, and she took it out to see it's a little letter with tape.
B
Things going too far.
Not sure what to do.
Find a quiet spot,
I'll find you.
Come alone. Please.
-I
Blake is surprised to find this letter and looks around to see if there is anyone here.
"Hey Blake, we're all waiting to ask the nocturnal folks. Is everything okay?" Scopria asked as she comes onto the balcony, Blake quickly hides the note.
"Yeah, I'll meet you there. I need to take care of something first." Blake said, knowing this note could be a trap, but she has to try and reach out to her friend.
Blake made her way into a dark alleyway of Menagerie where is the quietest place she knows and so far, nothing happened that seems like a trap.
"Ilia?" Blake called out.
"I'm here." The girl known as Ilia responded.
Blake draws her Gambol Shroud just in case, something came out of the shadows and the black color fades revealing Ilia who has camouflaged herself in the dark background.
Ilia is a young woman and a chameleon Faunus. Her skin has somewhat darker spots on her arms, legs, and face, resembling chameleon scales. Her brown hair is tied back in a ponytail that curls at the end like a chameleon's tail, and her eyes are a light gray with a faintly bluish tint. She wears a black, gray and dark gray sleeveless stealth suit with short legs that resembles a playsuit with black trim around the legs. The color divide is at the center of her thighs. The stealth suit's zipper is gold, and over it, she wears gray belt straps with gold buckles. She wears black calf high boots that are folded over and a black glove on her right hand. Breasts size: B-cup.
"Ilia, I know you're scared, but you don't have to be. My family and I, we can keep you safe." Blake promised.
"I'm sorry." Ilia apologized with her both eyes close.
"You can make it up to me by helping us stop Corsac and Fennec." Blake said, not wanting her friend to go down this dark path the current White Fang is right now. She believes there is still a chance for Ilia.
"No… I'm sorry." Ilia repeated with her tone sounding hostile right now and close her right hand to a fist.
Blake was confused at first until she heard footsteps coming from the rooftop, that's when Blake knew this was a trap, but she was a second too late.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
Yang got some needed talk with Weiss and this time with Catra and Perfuma coming in to lend some moral support to have her give Blake another chance. Speaking of Blake, she was meeting with someone who used to be her friend and now finds herself in a trap.
