Chapter 2
"Come on, Kirlia," Slash cried as she and Articuno ran outside for the meteor shower, "You're going to miss it!"
"Alright," Kirlia replied, "I'll be right out."
The year is 2013. The location is Edmonton, Alberta. The subject is Kirlia, now nineteen years of age.
Over the past 19 years, Kirlia had grown into quite the pathetic creature. Her eating habits had made her overweight, and her lack of exercise left her with stretch marks across her body. Her lack of showering had made her skin vulnerable to zits, which her face was covered in, as well as making her bright green hair extremely greasy. She was also very wimpy, preferring to sit in her room all day on her DeviantART account talking to people she didn't even know. Not only had that occurred, but her constant staring at the computer screen had made her vision slightly blurred, causing her to wear glasses which were so big that people who saw her would mistake her for a rapist.
Tonight, Kirlia was going to view a meteor shower with her roommates, Slash and Articuno. Immediately running outside, she sat down in the lush grass in their backyard, not wanting to miss what was going on.
Outside, Kirlia met with her friends Slash and Articuno. Slash was a purple wolf that was completely blind, leaving the question why she was there in the first place. Her friends constantly told her how beautiful she was in an attempt to rid her of her inferiority complex, but in reality she was mostly average. Her massive breasts would get her lots of attention in public, mainly people asking her how much it would be for an hour.
Articuno, or Art as she was typically referred to, was an ice thing, and the only truly good-looking one in the group. She insisted often that she was a bird, but nobody in their right mind would think that just by looking at her. She was covered in blue fur, with white fur around her curves and muzzle. Her wings, the only feathered part of her body, had a very peculiar shape, occasionally leading people to think that she was an anthropomorphic Pegasus right out of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She never wore clothes, as she felt that it was unnecessary with all of that fur covering her, and while nobody ever complained about it for obvious reasons, it was only inevitable that a mountee would arrest her for public indecency, though none had yet.
So there they were, staring at the sky with blank expressions on their faces. You would think that it was beautiful, but they were sitting in the center of the city, so the light pollution made it impossible to see anything.
Suddenly, a meteor finally showed up. It looked pretty big for a meteor, almost as if it was close by.
"Wow, that meteor sure looks close," said Kirlia. "Wait a minuteā¦"
The meteor was heading right towards them.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA," screamed the meteor, sounding like somebody was trapped inside of it.
Stumbling out of the way, the meteor barely missed Slash, instead plunging into the house the three of them shared. Observing the wreckage, Kirlia could make out the steaming remains of a hedgehog. He was rust red, probably from all of the dust from the meteorite; although, his quills were singed from the entry into the atmosphere. Not wanting to look more than what was required, Kirlia instead left Articuno to investigate.
"Guys," said Art. "He's alive!"
The red hedgehog turned over on to his other side, his chest rising and falling in an imperfect rhythm. Yes, he was certainly alive.
"Well," said Slash. "He won't be alive for long if we don't get him to the hospital!"
"You two go on ahead," sighed Kirlia. "I'm getting stressedā¦" Her voice trailed off, as she didn't want to expend any more energy than she needed to in order to continue functioning.
Her two friends nodded and ran off, while Kirlia went back inside, and, for the first time in three days, she took a shower.
