Creature From Within (Phase 3)

Why Did You Look At It?!

You run and pound your feet hard into the soil. The adrenaline is pumping through you like gasoline into a vehicle. Don't look at me. That was the first and only warning. She kept telling you over and over to not look at her. It is only on Sunday, September 17th that you broke the one rule she told you not to do. Now, you saw her for what she is. All you can do is run as fast as possible. You only have one ice shell left for the grenade launcher and nothing else. The fear is overwhelming you; the last hope you have is at the end of the tunnel. You told everyone to be ready for what comes out the cave. Hopefully, they can handle it.

You hear the inhuman roar coming from behind you. It is so scary that it makes the boogie man appear like an insect. The bones are cracking; the flesh is tearing. You are going so fast that your soul is ready to jump out of your body. You keep calling to others over the radio. It has to be enough as you hear her catch up to you. She is infuriated with you yet anxious to rip your face off. The reason did not matter; all you know is your orders. You have to make it to the end of the tunnel and back into the open. You feel something trip you; you try to crawl away until a hand grabs you. You hold onto the grenade launcher until you see her again.

The eyes can't understand what it sees, but it is horrifying. You see her eyes, but now there are multiple eyes. The mouth is large enough to swallow you whole; the aim one last tme and fire the grenade launcher at her face. The blast is perfect for a headshot; you are dropped to the ground again. You get up and see the exit, but now the real challenge is here. You shout and call for everyone to be ready. You look back one more time; she has recovered from the blast with her sight on you. You run straight and come out. You let them know that she is coming.

They turn on the lights and flash them at the cave entrance. They don't see anything just yet, but you know she is coming out. A few soldiers and cops move up to see what is coming. So far, nothing. They turn on their gunlights and shine them into the cave. There is nothing until one of them gets their face ripped off in fron of everyone; she is using her camoflauge ability to hide in plain sight. The military and cops fire rounds of electric bullets and ice shells at the cave. It is enough to force her out from hidding. She yells with an inhuman roar and makes her way to any face that sees her. You see that advancing is dangerous until you decide to be reckless.

Your hands wave in the air and you call to her one last time before she turns on you.

You scream, "Sarah! Look at me!"

She looks at you with eyes full of rage and hunger. You don't know if she is herself, or if it is the monster talking. She slowly comes to you, but everyone stands on guard, ready to fire.

Sarah says, "Marvin...is that you? Why...why are you...hurting me?"

You say, "Sarah, it is ok. Don't worry, it is going to be fine. I need you to turst me."

She says, "I..I...I need...TO EAT..."

A wave of ice grenades and ice shooters come at her. She roars with an inhuman cry as her nerves are slightly damaged from the ice. There is nothing you can do but move back. The team moves and throw down the nets; others bring up the cage. It is horrible to see this, but it has to be done to save your friends. The trap is active, and nets are thrown on her body. Each net shocks her with two-thousand volts of electricity. You join Laura, Kenny, and Michael in the observation booth to see what the status is. Laura is ordering her people to make sure the monster doesn't move; Michael is beyond excited yet feeling sick. Kenny looks on with determination as the plan is going accordingly.

He says, "Well, looks like we don't have to worry about anyone else dying. We got the monster and murderer all in a single day. I want that monster locked away for life."

Laura steps to Kenny, "Need I remind you that this is a military op. We will do what is needed to keep the people safe. For now, both you and Capt. Breningham are done in this. We will take it from here."

Kenny looks on with some annoyance, but the job is over. You both exit from the booth and step to the side. This time it is personal. You shove him into the wall.

You say, "Ok, asshole. No more games and secrets. Where are my friends at? You promised to release them."

Kenny replies, "You may wanna consi..."

Before he speaks any more, you have your pistol aiming at his chest, "I won't ask you again. Where are my friends?"

Kenny holds up his hands and pulls out his phone. He makes a call to someone.

He says, "Ok, the job is done. Let his friends go back to dome one safe and sound. Do not harm them."

The call ends and the problem is over. You say, "Consider this a farewell between me and you. Don't you ever talk to me again and do not come around dome three unless you have business."

Kenny adjusts his tie, "You better consider yourself lucky in both ways. You almost died by the monster which is fine with me. You could've died by Logan after he killed your friends. So, you are right about us never talking again. And you will never point a gun at me again."

Official Michael of Dome Three comes to you both, "Is everything alright? I hope you both are not too scared to see the capture of the year."

You say, "We were just talking about what happens next. But, we will take a glance at how things are looking."

Kenny agrees, "Yes, I hope our little problem is unable to move."

You come back to the booth and look upon a shatter proof cage. Every man and woman stand by with their gun ready to shock or freeze the creature through the openings. You look on to see what your eyes can't understand. Kenny and the others talk among each other, but you decide to go closer. Your feet and motion are heavy; every step you take feels quiet. You still see her in full form. It scratches the glass but nothing cracks. The beast roars and hears no reaction. Suddenly, it stops and the eyes are on you. Everyone is nervous as they back up. No one flitches until they see you stop right in front of the glass. Your eyes lock with the eyes of it; everyone else disappears from the area and nothing else matters. There is no noise, no talking, no voices, no cage, and no boundaries. It is just you and her. You raise your hand up to the glass; she does the same only her hand is large and deformed.

You say, "I'm sorry. I just want to help you."

Her reaction is her large mouth and teeth showing. The roar is powerful and long; however, it sounds sad and full of sorrow.

She says, "I'm sorry. I just couldn't help it. Please...let me out."

You sadly reply, "You know what happens now. Please, forgive me. I will always care for you, Sarah."

She slams her fists on the glass; the roaring is inhuman as she sprouts out more arms to hit the glass. You turn away from her with a sad look in your eyes to be masked by determination. Sarah howls and cries as she watches you leave her. She relaxes her rage and calms down. There is nothing else to do but head home to rest away this problem. Everyone climbs into their vehicle and watch the cage be secure. Kenny, Michael, and Laura ride in an armored car ahead of you. The job is over, and there is nothing else left. It is a safe drive back to dome three with Sarah in chains.

You check your phone for a text message. It is from all your friends as they shower your phone. John is happy. Sherry and Claire are glad to be back at home; Clark is giving his usual reply, but he is going to express it later. You exhale a huge sigh and let the other nosey people know: "Things are ok." You make it back to dome three with the military taking Sarah far from you and others. Kenny is ready to give his speech of success to all the domes, and you are just ready to be back home for the rest of the week coming. The case is closed and nothing else matters. Laura comes to you before you leave.

She says, "You seem a little too close to the monster. You care to explain what that was about?"

You reply, "Sa...the monster was kind of close to me, but I didn't know it had an urge for humans. I'm still surprised it didn't eat any time I was around it."

She says, "Wow, you were actually around it this entire time and it didn't eat you? You must have nerves of steel or it just grew fond of you. But, don't worry about that any more. This monster will be locked away for the rest of its days. Here, let me get you home at least. You had a day but it is over."

She offers you a run home and takes a moment to ask you more questions. Once you are far from the dome, the chat becomes different.

Laura asks, "So, what else do you know about this creature?"

You answer, "All I know is what Sarah told me. And she is dead. The monster is hostile to anyone that looks at it. You can feed it meat other than humans, but for now, it is best to keep your distance. If anything, just cook any large slab of meat. Oh than that, I can't tell you much."

She appreciates your honesty and says, "Well, I'll be sure to pass that on when I am back on the clock. Now, if it is not too much, I have one serious question: You didn't come in contact with it?"

Your eyes widen as thought you were shock by a taser. You say, "Ummm, you caught me off guard with that. Where did that come from?"

Laura replies, "It is just a personal question. I am asking because we need to make sure you don't have anything that can cause an infection."

You anwer, "Oh no, never. The most that happen was the creature drooling on me, but that was it. I assure you that this monster never secrete any fluids into any part of my orifices. So, I am still me and promise you that I am safe."

She says, "I would like to believe that, but I'll need to have you checked out any signs of infection. So, before you go back to your daily living, I will send a few examiners over to you to check you out. They won't go far; it will be just some blood testing."

By the time you arrive home, Laura and you see two other men. They escort you inside and surprise you with a blood extractor.

You turn to Laura, "You had this plan setup for me, right?"

Laura smiles, "I told them to be here by the time the mission is over. Plus, I want to be sure. You will have your results by tomorrow. So, we are going to take a liter of your blood to test it in various ways."

You are stun by the amount they need, but you are assured that all the proper documents will be present by Kenny and others for your reason of why you didn't come in for Monday. You were told that even your friends will be off too. For now, all you must do is rest.

You sigh and knew this had to be too good to be over. You invite them inside and offer them water before they get started. They setup the extractor and ask you to lift your sleeve. God damn it, this is going to be a pain. In a matter of minutes, they start draining your blood. It is one hell of a process, but it must be done. The task is over in a few minutes, but now you are dizzy. Laura helps you make a snack and gives you water before she goes. Finally, this shit-show is over. No more licking and sucking from Sarah; no more calls from Kenny Motherfucking Wilco. No threats from Logan 'Bloodsport' Leonard. The best part is no Becky Throat Goat' Longstail for random interviews.

You eat slowly and keep yourself going. For now, it is time to sleep and not worry about tomorrow. You and your team are home; there is plenty to talk about and so much to lay out in the open. You lay on the couch with your mind is clouded with everything that happen. If it isn't Kenny bugging you, there is Logan and Becky in your face. Thank God the day will be smooth for you tomorrow. You sleep away your trouble and dream of nothing; there is peace finally after all this week. Time is pointless and you are at ease.

The alarm is going off. Today is the day of relaxation, notes, pain, regret, and some sorrow. You are relaxing from the events of what the entire week has brought you. From dealing with Kenny, Becky, and Logan to dealing with Sarah and her urges, that is what goes through your mind. Kenny knew about the monster and didn't say a word to anyone; Becky is always getting a story out of anyone through words or acts. Logan is just some thug that needs to die after what he did to the late Capt. Johnson. There will be a moment to get him, but it can wait for now.

You hit the shower but feel dizzy a little. Laura did make sure to have a liter of your blood taken from you. After you are done washing up and making coffee, you review over your notes one last time and take in how much you know. The final piece of your notes include the day Sarah is captured by the military. After that, there is nothing else left. From August 20th to September 17th, it was a roller coaster ride of secrets, pain, death, and eating. You add the last note and return to the kitchen to have a sip of coffee. It is hot and perfect for you; the day isn't complete yet as you text your friends. You hope they too got a goodnight rest after all the stuff they did and had to endure.

There is a knock at your door. You go and open it to receive a huge hug from Sherry as she nearly knocks you down with her words of thanks.

She says, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Oh my God, I'm glad you are safe, Marvin."

You hear more foot steps from the doorway as you both see Clark, John, and Claire come inside. The team is back together like never before. John and Claire move pass you and get some coffee for themselves. It is a moment for everyone to enjoy but no one is talking just yet. You all take a moment to gather your thoughts on what to say. Sherry is constantly speaking more than the others.

Sherry says, "Thank God that whole ordeal is over. They kept us all seperate from each other and only gave us water with bread. I wish those stupid sons of bitches would have better ways to care for us. Then, that bastard Logan or whatever his name was tried to do something to me, but thank God he lost interest. Oh, are you ok, Claire?"

Claire breaks down and cries as you all try to help her. Instead of receiving help from you, John, or Clark, she lashes at you and nearly tries to hurt you until you see her right shoulder. It is safe to say that she didn't have a good night to sleep. You ask Sherry to guide her to the bathroom and help her. With the ladies in the bathroom, you and the others decide to speak on what happen.

Clark says, "It wasn't easy. They asked me questions in regards to you and how long this whole fiasco was going on. They thought you and Blake had more information about the events and told me everything. They cut me a few times and put salt on all my bleeding spots; I was in so much pain after screaming for nearly an hour."

John adds, "They did me worse too. I had a wet towel over my face and they shocked me with jumper cables each time. Now I have an idea of what it was like to be electtrocuted; they did it a few times before beating on me. I don't know what else to say, but it is certain what happen to Claire."

You touch their shoulder and say, "You both made it out of there. I'm glad they didn't kill either of you and now you are here. It is safe here. Let's keep ourselves here for now until you are ready to be alone again. I'll put on some T.V. for us. I'd say we all earned a break."

They agree with you and sit back on the couch and chair. After a few more minutes, Sherry and Claire emerge from the bathroom. None of you ask her what she had to endure.

Claire breaks down and cries, "I'm...ok. Just give me some time. I don't want to talk about it."

You say, "If you need anything, we will be here for you. For now, you all can stay here and heal from the pain. Remember, we are the Dream Team. You guys are family to me."

There is a weak chuckle from them; everyone is still feeling the expereince. You turn on the T.V. and here is the news. Of course, here is Becky reporting live from Dome Two. She is expressing her joy and excitement about the latest dancing teams and music being produced. It is high time someone slapped her silly ass; the morning is slow for all of you; however, it has personal pain that you all keep to yourself.
