Hello, my lovely readers. I'm sorry about the delay. You can thank Kevin H again for reminding me to update because I am slow. On with the show…
Chapter 11: Don't Take Your Mother's Name in Vain
"There is no substance to this. What kind of drivel do you expect an audience to pay to watch?" Mikael shouted at Stefan and Elena as they cowered behind the Original siblings. Klaus was looking longingly toward Caroline who was talking to Rebekah. Elijah was inspecting the clothing that Rebekah wanted him to wear for the film. He had been under the impression that he would not be in the film. However, Rebekah had insisted on fitting them all and creating costumes. As for Kol, he was trying to fondle Bonnie's ankle from where he had been bound and trussed up in a ball on the floor.
"I think it's brilliant," Damon told Papa Original who turned to stare at Damon with a snarl emitting from his throat that put the others on edge. But Damon decided to go ahead and continue to speak to the horror of the rest of the group. "I mean I always thought that Stefan's diary entries were next to the scribbles of a hormonal pre-teen girl or Barbie -"
"Hey," Caroline protested, looking up from the sketches that Rebekah had been showing her.
"No offense," Damon told her and then looked at the others, shaking his head with a wide grin. "Never gets old. As I was saying, I never believed that Stefan could actually write something that emotionally riveting and witty -"
"Thanks, Damon," Stefan looked genuinely pleased.
Klaus began to smirk. He could see that Damon was about to stick his foot into his mouth and all the way down to his stomach. Although Damon was by far not his favorite Salvatore he had to give him points for the fact that he could be thoroughly entertaining at times. Unfortunately for Damon the entertainment usually appeared in the form of Damon screwing himself over. Klaus could not wait to see what misfortune that Damon would find himself in this time.
"Then it occurred to me. This can't be Stefan's writing. Stefy simply does not have that great an imagination. So, then I thought that it had to be Elena because she's… well, Elena. But then I realized that it couldn't be Elena because her morals are a little too strict to write a script like that," Damon's gaze moved through the group. "Now, the question would be that since Stefan and Elena were supposed to take over for Klaus to write this work but then their script mysteriously vanished into thin air -"
"Get on with it," Mikael snapped at Damon who rolled his eyes toward the ceiling. "Because as soon as you are done I shall dispatch you and then the fools who wrote this dread thing."
"Good luck with that," Damon snapped back and then took a step back when Mikael stepped toward him, reaching for his neck. "Yeah. Okay. I get the point. Caroline and Kol wrote this script."
"What?" Klaus exclaimed, looking from his lady love to his brother who was still trying to play with the little witch.
"No, we didn't," Caroline protested, waving her version of the script around. "I would never write something like this," she began to read a line from the script to prove her point. "A shrew I may be but I shall speak my mind to purge my soul of the grievous consequence of trying to tie my thoughts to my brain." Shaking her head, Caroline's face scrunched up. "What does that even mean?"
Klaus was about to give his opinion when Kol began to roll around the floor, attempting to gain the attention of the group. Bonnie pulled his gag out and he began to thank her profusely. "Thank you, my lovely little witch. Consent to be mine and I will show you things that no mortal man could."
"Sure he will," Damon called with a laugh as Kol began to struggle against the vervain soaked ropes that held him in place.
"When I am released I will torture you horribly," Kol threatened.
"You're going to talk to me?" Damon placed his hand over his mouth. "That really is horrifying."
"Who the bloody hell wrote the bleeding script?" Mikael roared at them.
"I did," a voice called from behind the group.
"Holy mother," Damon muttered, looking at the woman with extremely long hair and clothes from farther back than he wanted to think about.
"Not quite," Klaus muttered drily.
"Who is that?" Caroline whispered.
Rebekah gulped. "Mother," she mumbled and then set her sketches down.
"Mikael," Esther addressed her husband. "Children," she then took in all of her children, stopping with Klaus.
"Mother," Klaus looked at his feet, trying to not allow his emotions to take control of him with so many others in the room. Ordinarily he might cry openly or show some type of vulnerability if this was a purely family moment but the bloody Scooby gang was there.
"Niklaus, do you know why I am here?" Esther asked as she crossed the room to stare at Klaus.
Lifting his head, Klaus forced himself to meet her gaze. "You are here to kill me," he replied flatly, certain that that was exactly what the witch intended to do.
Shaking her head, Esther smiled as she placed her hand on his cheek. "No, Niklaus, I am here to explain to you why Mikael is your father and help you all with this ridiculous notion of creating a film. Your Father has been doing a deplorable job. Everyone on The Other Side agrees. We've been tuning in as often as possible and it seems to be going dreadfully wrong. That is why I was sent back."
"Gee, I thought you were just plot filler," Damon quipped and then realized he could no longer speak. Pointing to his mouth, he began to mouth a number of insults involving Esther's status as a family pet, things that he would like to suggest that she could do to herself and what he thought of her fashion statement.
"As I was saying. I do believe that I owe you an explanation, son. You see, many years ago I discovered that I was from a werewolf clan. However, I did not wish to be a dog as Damon was so kind as to just call me. Therefore I placed a curse on myself to prevent the curse from being triggered," Esther was explaining.
"But, Mother, you would need a doppleganger to enact the curse upon yourself," Klaus protested.
"I know," Esther replied.
"Well, then. How? There was no doppleganger's before Tatia," Klaus felt his head whirling with this information.
"Actually, there were many. And not just females. Stefan is a doppleganger as well," Esther explained.
"I am a what?" Stefan shouted, looking panicked.
"I knew it. He's not really my brother. Is he? It's like in the season where they introduced Dawn in Buffy," Damon looked amused and pleased by this new scenario. "O, I can speak again."
"Actually, in the Buffy series I do believe that the introduction of Dawn was highly problematic for the plot line. I was never entirely clear on what the point was," Elijah was musing causing everyone to turn to stare at him.
"You watch Buffy?" Katherine asked, looking genuinely surprised.
"What's Buffy?" Finn asked and then they remembered that he was there. Sadly, poor Finn tended to be forgotten in the chaos.
"Who ordered food from The Mystic Grill again?" Sage yelled, giving Kol an accusatory look before Rebekah raced forward to help Matt with the food, "Should have known."
"I would love a bit of blood," Kol called and every one ignored him but Jeremy.
"Hey, dude, when you behave, we'll feed you. Until then -" Jeremy did not get to finish his commentary because Kol had knocked him to the ground with a swift kick and was now greedily sucking blood from his carotid artery.
"Kol!" numerous people in the group yelled at the Original.
While the others were trying to peel Kol off of Jeremy, Klaus, his mother, Father, Caroline and Damon were engrossed in their own drama. "So, you're the Original Hybrid?" Damon was questioning Esther.
"No. I am," Klaus insisted but he was beginning to have his doubts.
"But you can't be if your mommy is telling the truth. She would be the first werewolf/ witchy. And you, junior, would just be the first vampire/werewolf. Different variation but still…" Damon looked thoughtful which Klaus interpreted as being painful for the elder Salvatore. "Now, back to the bit where Stefan isn't really my baby bro."
"Damon, I don't think that is what Esther was implying," Caroline snapped, shaking her head, looking at her friend who seemed to be in shock. Stefan was now sitting on the floor while Elena patted him on the head.
"Sure it is right, Mama Original?" Damon waited expectantly for Esther to verify his conclusion.
"No," Esther replied. "Damon, Stefan is your brother. However, he is also a creature who would have been a part of the supernatural world even if he had not been changed into a vampire. Now, as I was saying I had to kill the earlier doppleganger to curse myself," she informed Klaus.
"What about the rest of us, Mother?" Rebekah called to their Mother, looking paler than usual. The idea of getting on all fours and howling at the moon did not seem like an ideal social occasion to Rebekah who shivered at the thought.
"I am not truly sure what happened with the rest of you, my children. It seems that you did not inherit the gene," Esther assured them.
"Damn, I wanted to be like Nik," Kol whined after Sage punched him hard enough to dislodge him from Jeremy's throat. The problem was that when she hit Kol, she broke Jeremy's neck in the process. Thankfully, Jeremy was wearing his Founder's ring. Elena ran from Stefan's side to go sit with her brother. Bonnie was scowling at Kol about to give him a migraine.
"Back to the bit where I believe that you are trying to cover up your infidelities," Mikael called out, his eyes glowing with rage.
Esther turned to stare at her husband in anger. "Mikael, what are you accusing me of?"
"All of those," Mikael pointed at Kol, Elijah, Rebekah and Finn. "are not mine," he shouted.
"That does not make sense, Father," Elijah protested.
"Do not speak to me bastard son of another man who I did not kill because I did not know of all of your Mother's adulterous encounters," Mikael shouted.
"How can that be possible, Father?" Rebekah shouted, glaring at Mikael. "She just said that she is the werewolf. If she is a werewolf then she could not be held accountable for affairs with other men. You are saying that we are the products of her being with others. Think about it, Father. That would only be logical if YOU were the one who was having affairs. That would explain why we did not carry the werewolf gene. Because we are not the children of Esther," finishing her train of thought, Rebekah sat down on the floor and began to sob.
Since Jeremy had awoken and seemed to be doing well, Elena rushed over to show her sympathy for Rebekah by patting her on the head and saying things that simply caused the Original to glare at her. "This is exciting," Katherine murmured to Elijah who was adjusting his tie and looking ill.
"None of this even makes sense," Caroline was saying as she began to pace.
"When has anything in Mystic Falls ever made sense?" Klaus murmured to her as well as himself as he began to pace beside her.
"This is just too freaky," Damon said, sitting down on the floor and pulling out his flask.
"Does anyone even know who they're related to anymore?" Jeremy asked, rubbing his neck as he leaned close to Bonnie who was eyeing Kol.
"No," Klaus said, looking around the group. "I do not believe that anyone does."
I may hold out on telling you what the results of the paternity tests are for a little while for suspense purposes.
