My hand slipped out of the covers before smashing the off button on the blaring alarm clock. Groaning, I forced myself out of bed. I couldn't be late for church, I was on the worship team today.
I had left Shane one week ago, still hadn't heard from the doctor. We still was in the dark if I was a match or not for Amy. But praying for good news.
'You dont have time to dwell on this, Mitch.' I told myself, trying to pry myself out of bed. 'Can't be late."
"Mitchie, up and at it!" My father's voice echoed up the stairs.
"I am!" I called back, standing up and making my way towards the bathroom for a quick shower.
Yawning, I turned on the hot water, letting the steam start to fill the room before stepping into the tub.
Slowly, I washed my hair and body. Mornings aren't my thing, okay. I would much rather still be in bed.
Why couldn't church start at 3 pm instead of 10 am?
Once the shower was over I ran down stairs, putting that espresso mom bought to good use. I needed caffeine. No time for Starbucks today.
With coffee in hand I made my way back up to my room. Sitting down at the vanity I allowed myself to go into auto pilot mode as I done my hair and makeup. Hoping the coffee would start to kick in by the time I needed to leave for church.
Grabbing the first dress I touched, I quickly slipped it over my head, carefully as to not mess my hair up or cover the fabric in makeup. Making the quick decision I grabbed my converses and a pair of socks and ran down stairs.
"Cutting it close, Mitchie." My mom laughed as she watched me scurry around the house, grabbing my Bible and keys while trying to slip the shoes onto my feet.
"I know." I groaned, finally securing the last shoe to my foot, and ran out the door.
Smiling, I pulled into the church's parking lot with minutes to spare. I quickly found an empty parking space and ran inside.
"There she is!" Pastor Dave smiled at me from his position at the piano.
Laughing, I took my place on stage, waiting for them to count me in as the music to I'm So blessed filled the air.
Smiling, I started to sing:
I'm so blessed (I'm so blessed)
Hallelujah, I'm blessed
I'm so blessed (I'm so blessed)
Hallelujah, I'm blessed
Trouble knocking at my door today
I ain't gonna let it in
Worry wanna steal my joy away
But I ain't gonna let it win
Cause on my best day, I'm a child of God
On my worst day, I'm a child of God
Oh, everyday is a good day
And You're the reason why
I'm so blessed, I'm so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No, it doesn't matter about the rest
If I got You Lord, I'm so blessed
I'm so blessed (I'm so blessed)
Hallelujah, I'm blessed
I'm so blessed (I'm so blessed) (Okay)
Hallelujah, I'm blessed
And when I count the problems that I see
Hope looks all but gone
But when I count the ways
You're good to me
You got me counting all day long
Oh, yeah!
I'm so blessed , I'm so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No, it doesn't matter about the rest
If I got You Lord, I'm so blessed
Hey I'm so blessed, I'm so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No, it doesn't matter about the rest
If I got You Lord, I'm so blessed
Cause on my best day, I'm a child of God
On my worst day, I'm a child of God
Oh, everyday is a good day
And You're the reason why
Cause on my best day, I'm a child of God
On my worst day, I'm a child of God
Oh, everyday is a good day (Everyday is a good day)
And You're the reason why
I'm so blessed , I'm so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No, it doesn't matter about the rest
If I got You Lord, I'm so blessed (Sing it again)
I'm so blessed , I'm so blessed
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No, it doesn't matter about the rest
If I got You Lord, I'm so blessed (Hey, yeah)
Cause on my best day, I'm a child of God
On my worst day, I'm a child of God (Oh)
Oh, everyday is a good day
And You're the reason why
Cause on my best day, I'm a child of God
On my worst day, I'm a child of God
Oh, everyday is a good day
And You're the reason why
I'm so blessed (I'm so blessed)(I'm so blessed)
Hallelujah, I'm blessed I'm so blessed (I'm so blessed)
Hallelujah, I'm blessed I'm so blessed (I'm so blessed)
(No, it doesn't matter about the rest)
Hallelujah, I'm blessed
I'm so blessed (I'm so blessed) (If I got You Lord) Hallelujah, I'm blessed
As the last note faded, I placed the mike back into the stand. "Great job guys!" I gave complements to the band.
"That's enough practice, you guys can head to Sunday school." Jeff, the music director smiled at us, dismissing all the teens.
"So mi, have you thought about it yet?" Jake asked, coming around from behind the drum set.
Giving him a confused look, "thought about what?" I asked, not sure about what he was talking about.
A blush rose up on his cheeks, his right arm stretching up over his head, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Oh, nothing," nervous laughter found its way up from his throat as he walked past me.
What am I missing?
"You sure?" I called after him, as he rushed into the small classroom.
I never got a response, upon walking into the room Shelby called me over and started talking about her summer break. And the awkward conversation was forgotten about.
Once home, I ran up stairs, checking my phone for the first time that day. One notification was all I had. A text from my mom.
"You're a match." And in that moment, I knew God had a plan and I was so excited to be in on it.
"Mom! Why didnt you tell me?" I asked, knowing she could hear me.
I ran out of the room searching for her, finding her came quite easy, she was in the kitchen cooking up some lunch like she did every Sunday.
"I knew you wouldn't have been able to keep it from Shane all week," she laughed. "We leave tomorrow. You go in on Wednesday for pre-op."
Amy now had a fighting chance.
a/n I don't own the song mentioned above. It's Cain I'm so blessed.
