Chapter 3: Reversed Brides
It has been forever since I have uploaded a chapter of anything. Apologies but let us continue with the next chapter. I do not own Mortal Kombat, just my oc, Rashid. Thank you guys R&R)
It had been a couple of weeks since Rashid had moved in with Raiden and in that time the mortal had come to realize she would be spending a lot of time alone. Raiden was gone mostly during the day, and at night when Rashid was already asleep the thunder god would be meditating in his Jinsei chamber.
During that time spent alone, Rashid had come to know a few of the monks that inhabited the Sky temple. They took turns teaching things to one another; the monks would teach Rashid how to meditate and find balance. And Rashid would teach... Well bad words and some slang. The only one that really picked it up was, Chun Hua, a monk who was known for his bad temper.
Raiden of course did not know this until he had happened to come home early from a meeting with his remaining Earth realm champions. He had teleported to the training grounds with a bolt of lightning and a gift of appreciation in his hands.
"Raiden..." Turning around at the call of his name Fujin, and another Shaolin monk that was not as well-known as Liu Kang walked over to greet his arrival.
"Good afternoon Fujin, Shaolin Kai what brings you to the temple?" Raiden couldn't help but notice the stern expression that Kai, (he's a shaolin from MK4 and Armageddon) had on his face and a more humorous one plastered on Fujin's.
"We wanted to speak with you about some of the monks, Raiden." Sighing tiredly, Raiden began walking to the temple entrance. "Well if you don't mind, I'd like to continue this discussion after I've spoken with, Rashid."
Nodding in agreement, Kai bowed respectfully before leaving and Fujin called out to him. "I'll come find you when Lord Raiden is ready to continue our conversation."
Looking back at his brother, the wind god went after, Raiden and looked at what he was holding in his hands. "I didn't expect you here so early; why do you have that watch? Since when do you care for the time?"
Raiden gave a sideways glance to his sibling, "It's a gift for Rashid; I figured I'd get her something for being so patient with my absence."
"Well, I should hope so; you've been gone a lot."
"Has it ever occurred to you that I must make the most sacrifices since you decided to be more free with your godhood?" The thunder god frowned when he heard a snort from Fujin. "I think you worry too much Raiden; you just don't want to be here because you're afraid to be alone with your..."
Fujin didn't get a chance to finish his sentence because soon he was cut off by a slammed door. Raiden had entered a new room and left his brother outside. He didn't need the extra opinions even if he was right.
The thunder god had sense Rashid in her room, yet he couldn't see where she was. That was until he heard what sounded like paper ripping.
"Shit."
Raiden walked over to the other side of the bed and saw the woman lying on the floor with a book in front of her and several sheets of colored paper. Raiden noticed several disfigured animals that were yellow, blue, green and something that could have been pink but with so many failed attempts turned to be a pale white.
"Are you trying origami?" Rashid immediately looked up from her orange folded paper and smirked.
"Hey, Raiden!" Getting up from her position on the floor Rashid picked up the best-looking origami she made. "It's supposed to be a horse, but I messed up on some of the angles..."
The mortal looked away embarrassed as the thunder god looked at it uncertainly, "Do you want it?"
Looking back at her, Raiden nodded and smiled faintly, "Yes, thank you. I'm sure you were trying your best." Sitting on her bed he patted the spot next to him, beckoning Rashid to sit down.
"I'd first like to apologize and give my thanks for waiting on my return." Rashid nodded and blinked a few times before answering.
"It's okay, but I was kind of... afraid? Maybe you changed your mind?" Looking back at Earth realm's protector she knew he had a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. "I know you have a lot on your mind though so it's not a big deal."
Raiden shook his head, "I should've been more forward and made you aware of my obligations." Gently handing Rashid a silver watch he looked at the mortal meaningfully. "It's not my intention to drag you along; you have started to mean a great deal to me."
She studied the gift in her hands and couldn't help but notice the faint dragon insignia traced on its face. Her name was carved on the back; she smiled and looked back at Raiden.
"Thank you..." While Rashid was slipping it on and taking off her old one there was a knock on the bedroom door.
Raiden opened it and saw Fujin with his arms crossed and a very smug looking monk next to him.
"What's up, beeches?"
Raiden's face dead panned, and he looked at Fujin expecting an answer. "Well, that's what me and Kai wanted to talk to you about, Raiden. Somehow our monks have picked up more words in the English language."
Instantly both Raiden and Fujin looked at Rashid.
"Uh oh."
Raiden fumed and looked at Chun Hua once more, "Do you worship with that mouth?" The monk nodded and pointed at the nervous mortal in the bedroom.
"She help with my anger issues."
Sighing the thunder god pinched the top of his nose, "Yes and I'm sure that gave you a more "colorful" way to express yourself."
Looking back at his betrothed, Raiden shook his head and looked back at Fujin. "Tell Kai he needs to find a better outlet for Chun Hua, and make sure the other monks haven't picked this habit up."
Fujin nodded and tiredly took Chun Hua by the shoulder, only to have the monk laugh, "Too late for that!"
Closing the door once more, Raiden crossed his arms and cocked an eyebrow at Rashid. "Do you mind explaining that to me?"
Shrugging and laughing nervously Rashid scratched the back of her neck. "We got to talking; you know and Fujin isn't always around."
Looking up at the ceiling in thought, Raiden considered what he knew to be the truth. There wasn't much to do at the temple when he wasn't present and being around nothing but men all day probably wasn't the best option for a non-fighting average female.
"Would you mind entirely if I had you come with me sometimes?"
"Like the special forces camp and other realms?" Nodding thoughtfully, Raiden felt himself loosen up knowing Rashid wouldn't turn down his offer.
"Yes at least you'll be able to be acquainted with our allies and better know the realms we've been associated with."
Rashid jumped off her bed and held Raiden around his waist tightly, "Yes! I can't f*cking wait! You and me protecting the realms and beating everyone's ass!"
While Rashid was grinning like an idiot the thunder god sighed, "You really need to watch your language, but I appreciate the enthusiasm."
Letting go and looking up at her protector, "Raiden can you teach me to fight, and be freaking unstoppable?"
Raiden chuckled and gestured toward the mortal, "What a fierce woman like yourself needs training? I know what you did to the meal monk; you sat on him."
"He stole my pudding..."
Frowning Raiden shook his head, "And that brings another point you, Glucose assassin, we need to work on your snack intake. If you keep this up, I'll have to roll you off the Sky temple's ledge as a sacrifice to the Sugar god."
"There's a sugar god?" Rashid's eyes widened.
Shutting his eyes Raiden put a hand on his woman's head. "No, Rashid there isn't..."
Yes, Raiden knew these next several decades with Rashid would be interesting; so long as she stayed out of trouble. Honestly, he could not wait to personally find out.
Thank you for viewing and sorry again for the wait. I do not own Mortal Kombat, the cursing monk, the crippled origami horse, or Raiden's patience. Thanks R&R)
