Hello, my lovely readers. There's still some of my kind-of-a-crossover going on in this chapter which will wrap up the next chapter. On with the show…

Chapter 17: Waking up in a Rerun

Nothing seemed to be going right. Nothing at all. This left Mikael furious. He'd been in the middle of a perfectly lovely date with Caroline's mother, Liz, when his soon-to-be-ex-wife, Esther came barging in. She'd had a millennium to learn better manners. Did she still not understand that when your husband is on a date with another woman; you don't interrupt it?

Sighing heavily, Mikael walked onto the set of his film. Of course the fools who worked for him were not there yet. He jerked his cell out of his pants' pocket and began to dial numbers. Most of them went to voicemail. "Blasted hell!" he shouted when Elena Gilbert, Stefan Salvatore, Damon Salvatore, Bonnie Bennett, Jeremy Gilbert, his possible progeny, Kol and Elijah arrived with Katerina.

"Where are Niklaus, Caroline and Rebekah?" Mikael demanded, scowling at the rest of them.

"No idea," Damon groaned. "Oh, God, my head. I'm never drinking with you," he pointed at Kol, "again."

Kol grinned. "Looks like Damon can't handle his booze. Father, I have excellent news…"

"You're my son?" Mikael replied. He could not say he wanted Kol to turn out to be his. Yes, he had the violence of a Viking but he was also a bit ridiculous and whoever heard of a ridiculous Viking? He could not have Kol tarnishing the names of Vikings everywhere, not that there were that many left which was even more reason to protect their reputation.

"The verdict is still out," Katherine answered for Kol who glared at her.

"You were snooping through my mail, again?" Kol shouted at Katherine.

"You snoop through my lingerie!" Katherine shouted back. "I was bored. Elijah was editing that stupid script and Sage was trying to teach Finn how to –"

"Nuh-uh-uh-uh!" Kol sang, placing his fingers in his ears. "Anything that begins with 'Sage was teaching Finn' to do anything is not the beginning of a conversation that I want to take part in."

Elijah sighed and unbuttoned his coat. "I will go look for Niklaus."

"Don't leave me alone with them!" Katherine cried, pointing at the others.

"Yeah. Please, do us all a favor, and take her with you. Better yet, drop her in the Grand Canyon!" Damon suggested—flopping down on a couch—covering his face with his arm.

"Are you lying down on the job?" Mikael barked. "Actors are a horrid group of lazy fools, but, you, Damon, you are making me reconsider my casting choices."

Damon rolled his eyes. "Why don't you go harass some nice lady? Oh, wait, you did. Poor Liz was distraught after last night. She may never go on another date. Ever again. Thanks to you."

Mikael felt a prick of guilt when Esther walked into the room. "It is her you should be blaming, Damon. Not me. She is the one who ruined the beginnings of a very promising evening for Liz."

Esther walked right up to Mikael and shoved a bundle of paper at him. "Mikael, this is what I think of your petition for a divorce," she spoke and the papers exploded into flames.

"Esther!" Mikael hissed, dropping the flaming bundle to the floor and stomping out the fire. "You know that our insurance does not cover fires made by employees."

"Or floods," Damon added, swinging his feet to the floor. "I'm outta here."

"You are not going anywhere," Mikael sped over and tossed Damon back onto the couch. "Now, do what you do best: Nothing."

"Works for me," Damon said, falling back onto the couch.

"I'm hungry," Jeremy groaned.

"Lunch break!" Kol declared.

"We have yet to begin work for today. There will be no lunch break until then!" Mikael shouted at Kol who groaned.

Bonnie yawned and walked over to fall onto the couch beside Damon. "I can't deal with this right now."

"What is wrong with her?" Mikael demanded, pointing at Bonnie.

"Kol probably made her into a vampire," Stefan told him.

"He did not," Elena cried, looking fearfully at her friend.

"I might have. Last night was one of the wildest I've ever had," Kol told them. "Alas, I only remember half of it."

"I am so happy to hear that," Damon moaned, rubbing his eyelids.

"What did you do after you left the Grill?" Elena asked Damon.

Damon looked at Elena through narrowed eyes. "You don't remember?"

"No," Elena gulped "Was I there?"

"As a willing and active participant," Damon retorted, rolling his eyes.

"Where is the bloody script?" Mikael shouted, beginning to grab furniture and tossing it all over the set.

"What do think that was?" Esther asked, pointing at the charred paper.

Mikael let out a howl and stormed toward Esther. "That is my dream!" he shouted at her.

"Oh, well, what about my dreams, Mikael, did you ever bother to ask me what I wanted? No! It was always: Esther, I have to go hunting. Esther, I'm off to war. Esther, I have to find the children, to terrorize them. Did you ever think of what I might want? I liked to dance but did you ever go out dancing with me? No! You were afraid of ridicule. You were afraid of being laughed at because you were not a social being. I just wanted to have a few friends and to enjoy my bloody life!" Esther screamed, silencing everyone else on the set.

Mikael and Esther stood, staring at each other just as Finn and Sage came in. "You will never guess what Sage taught me…"

"Noooooo!" Kol screamed, running off the set and there was a loud crash and the sound of splintering wood.

Finn held up his phone. "I just joined Twitter. Why are we only allowed so few characters? I cannot adequately express myself with so few words." He shook his head at his phone. "Alright. What are we doing today? Oh, Mother!" he cried, registering his mother's presence and running to her to hug her. "Oh, Mother, I want to introduce you to Sage. Sage, this is my Mother."

"This is not going to end well," Damon said sarcastically while Esther examined Sage.

"Finn, darling—Elijah is off to recover Niklaus—I think you should join him. Sage, why don't you stay with me, for the day, dear?" Esther inquired.

Finn sped off before Sage could register what had just happened. "Finn?" she called.

"Tell me, Sage, how do you feel about being a human?" Esther asked Sage who looked horrified.

"You mean, how do I feel about eating humans?" Sage inquired weakly.

Damon snickered. "This is going to be good."

"I need a script!" Mikael thundered. "You two!" he pointed at Elena and Stefan. "Make a script or I will suck you both dry and allow Niklaus to use your other bits for his silly arts' projects."

Stefan and Elena looked at each other and gulped. "Why does this sound familiar?" Elena asked.

"Been there, done that," Damon groaned.

Bonnie kicked Damon between the legs, and he let out a cry of agony, falling off the couch while Bonnie yawned and curled up. "Somebody get me a blanket," she groaned.

"I'm hungry," Jeremy whined, sitting down on the couch and sniffing Bonnie.

"Stop that!" Elena warned her brother.

"Get to work or your bones will live on in the Louvre," Mikael snarled at Elena who began to look for a laptop. All Mikael wanted was to know what had become of the one child he knew to be his but he would never admit this to this group of motley fools.

Waking up on a gurney, Klaus felt incredible pain, but nothing he couldn't suppress long enough to kill his captors. A moan came from somewhere close to him which caused Klaus' head to rotate to the left. "Bekah?" he called. His voice sounded lower than he would have liked.

"Ah, good. You're awake," a blonde woman with cold eyes said. Something resembling a smile appeared on her face. Again, nothing warm glowed in her eyes. Klaus had seen that same look in the eyes of various men and women over the years: mainly zealots, Nazis and some politicians, who might be one in the same. Still, this woman chilled even Klaus' undead heart. "You're going to help me make the world a better place," the woman told him.

"Not bloody likely," Rebekah scoffed from her own gurney. "If anything, Nik, will make it a much worse place, as he's wont to do."

Klaus smirked up at the woman. "You should listen to my sister. She knows me far better than most. If you knew who I am, you would run from this place, before I ripped out your intestines and fed them to one of your pet GI Joes."

A smirk formed on the woman's lips. She showed no fear. This made Klaus feel the desire to make her death slow and un-merciless. She would die last. After he found and murdered her favorite minion.

"I will be back," the woman said, patting Klaus on the shoulder like they were familiars.

Emitting a snarl of rage, Klaus looked to Rebekah who lay under a sheet, staring at the ceiling. "Bekah, are you alright?"

"I don't know, Nik, I got married, ran from my new husband, was kidnapped, stuffed into a cell, am currently at some wretched military facility, awaiting being turned into some sort of freakish science experiment by some bloody lunatic. I would say, I could be better." Rebekah let out a derisive snort and continued to stare at the ceiling.

Klaus felt frustrated. Of course he believed that their family would find them. They had survived much worse circumstances but this did not feel the like the best of times to be stuck in a place like this. Rebekah deserved better. She deserved to know that she was not a bastard, that she, too, was Mikael's child, and that they could get on with their lives.

"I will get you out of here, Rebekah," Klaus promised Rebekah who finally glanced at him, a silent tear running down her cheek. She nodded at him and he smiled to reassure her that he truly meant it.

Caroline braced herself before running at the wall. She felt the electricity sizzling through her body. It felt like she was on fire. Every part of her body begged her to stop but Caroline had been tortured before. She would never believe she could survive the things that had been done to her. She found that she was much stronger than anyone had ever given her credit for.

When she could no longer take it, Caroline stepped back, moving further into the room. She allowed her eyes to roll back in her head before she let out a moan and then dropped to the floor.

"Hey, mate! Over here, you sodden wanker!" Spike shouted at a guard. "You! She's bloody well knocked herself out."

The sound of footsteps came closer to Caroline's cell. "So what?" a new voice snapped.

"So? Oh, you must be daft, mate. Heard your boss lady saying she had grand plans for Goldilocks there. Big plans." Spike let out a dark chuckle. "How ya think she's going to take to you leaving her prize like that? Huh?"

"Shit," the voice grumbled and Caroline heard a soft whizzing sound. Then she heard the sound of footfalls coming close to her. A hand came down on her shoulder, she rolled over and sprang on the man. He let out a yelp when she sank her fangs into him. She knew that Stefan and Elena would disapprove of her eating a human but she also thought this guy deserved it.

The man's cries of pain dulled until he stopped making any noise. Dropping him to the floor of the cell, Caroline flipped him over and took his badge. She walked out of her cell and then strode over to Spike's. He grinned when she let him out. "Thanks, love."

"Not a problem. We need to find my friends," she told him.

"'ight. Just need to do one little thing first," Caroline flushed when Spike began to undress.

"And you need to get naked why?" Caroline asked.

"Need his uniform to get through this bloody place," Spike told her, walking past her and into her old cell.

Caroline felt relieved when Spike came out in the soldier's uniform and less relieved at his having the man's weapon. She loved the character of Spike but she knew that he could turn on her if he thought it was his neck or hers. "Let's go," she said, urging him to go in front of her.

They walked up the stairs and to a door. Caroline used the badge to let them through the door where a solider stood; guarding the area. "What is she doing out her cell?" he demanded.

"No idea," Spike said and then knocked the man out with the butt of his gun. He looked at the man and shrugged before grabbing his ID badge. "Never know when this could come in handy. Here, have a gun, Caroline." Smirking, he held it out to her. "You know how to use one?"

Caroline rolled her eyes. "My mom's a cop."

"Lovely," Spike rolled his eyes.

Rolling her own eyes, Caroline continued on her way. When Spike started to move toward a door that probably let them out of the facility, Caroline grabbed his arm. "Where are you going?"

"Need a smoke," Spike replied, pulling at his arm.

"I thought you were going to help me. I helped you," Caroline snapped, glaring at Spike.

Spike glared right back at her. "You self-righteous blondes…" Huffing, Spike blew out a breath. "Fine. Lead the way."

Smiling, Caroline continued searching the facility. "Where do you think they'd take them?" she asked Spike.

"Somewhere they're most likely to hack you up and make you into spare parts," Spike mused before he saw the nasty look Caroline was giving him. "Sorry, love. I know you and the wanker are all tied up in your little love story but I don't see his plot turning out so well."

Growling, Caroline opened her mouth to tell Spike off when a man in a lab coat appeared. "What is going on here?" he demanded, looking at Caroline. "Gu—" he never got the chance to finish his comments because Caroline's hand flew forward, wrapping around his neck and the other moved just under his rib cage.

"Do you feel that?" Caroline whispered. "That is the feeling of my fingers inside your chest cavity. If I move my fingers just a little bit higher; I will puncture your lung. I could make you cry for your mother before you die or you could tell me where my boyfriend and my friend are. Now!" she snarled.

The man let out a cough as Caroline scratched his lung with her fingernail and felt blood begin to trickle over her fingernail. "They're down the hall," he said.

"Thank you," Caroline said. Turning him around, she hauled him down the hall and shoved him towards the door. "Open it," she ordered him.

The door opened and Caroline felt her heart squeeze when she saw Klaus and she threw the doctor at Spike; knowing what he would do. She heard the sound of fangs tearing into flesh and did not feel one bit bad. Although the sound of Spike's howl of pain made her feel a little bit bad. Stupid chip.

"Klaus, I'm here!" Caroline cried, ripping the straps off of him.

Rebekah looked them over. "Lovely. I never thought I would be happy to see you, Caroline."

"Me, too," Caroline replied as she pulled Klaus off of the gurney.

"Let's just leave them there," Spike called to her. "Best to get them out if this lot thinks they're goners."

Klaus nodded and Caroline covered him and Rebekah up. Spike jerked the lab coat off the dead doctor and threw it to her. Caroline pulled the coat on and they pushed Klaus and Rebekah out of the room.

On their way down the hall, a solider approached them. "Where you taking those?" he asked.

Spike looked at Caroline who recognized Riley Finn. Ugh. Not again. "We're taking them for ice cream sundaes," Caroline snapped before she grabbed Riley and forced him to look into her eyes. "You didn't see us…and you're moving to New Guinea. You've never heard of Buffy Summers or Sunnydale."

Spike's eyebrows rose, a grin appearing on his face. "What was that all about?" he inquired.

"Compulsion," Caroline told him. "I can control humans' thoughts."

"Seems like an upgrade to me. Where do I get one?" Spike asked her.

"Let's get the bloody hell out of here!" Rebekah cried from under the blanket.

Without another word, they left the military facility and took off to climb inside a truck. Klaus and Rebekah climbed off their gurneys and Spike drove the truck. "Let's never do that again," Rebekah said.

Caroline nodded, feeling relieved that their nightmare was over when a car slammed into the trunk. Or maybe it was just the beginning. Caroline cursed their luck. She had been really looking forward to starring in her first film. Now what would Mikael do without his leading lady?

Thank you for reading, faving, following and reviewing.
