Hello, my lovely readers. We have two more chapters left! On with the show…

Chapter 18: Just a Dream

Light blinded Rebekah. The sun's rays burned through the windshield and she raised her hand to her face, peering around her, in search of her family. She did not see anyone and forced herself to crawl out of the wrecked truck that she, Nik, Caroline, and that odd, fictional character were all inside.

"Nik?" Rebekah called out, stumbled over a piece of metal and cursing.

"Rebekah?" Klaus shouted. She could head his voice from nearby.

"Nik!" Rebekah cried, rushing to his side. He was gritting his teeth while trying to dislodge a large shard of glass from his lung. "Are you alright?" She breathed, taking the shard, and jerking it out with one, swift movement.

Klaus hissed in pain, his eyes becoming hooded as he stared down the road. "No. I am not," he growled.

"Why not?" Rebekah retorted, searching her brother for more glass and metal.

Growling, Klaus gave her a gentle shove. "Bekah. Leave it." Struggling to his feet, his eyes stayed on the road. "We must go after Caroline."

"What?" Rebekah looked around and realized that Caroline had disappeared. "She didn't get kidnapped, again, because I am not going back to that facility."

"No. She was not kidnapped," Klaus snapped back. "She climbed on the back of a motorcycle and left…with him."

"With who?" Rebekah's lips pursed.

"With that…so-called vampire," Klaus snarled, stumbling down the roadside.

"Why would she do that?" Rebekah demanded, following Klaus and trying to help him when he shoved her away again.

"Something to do with saving the world from an apocalypse," Klaus muttered, rolling his eyes. "Does she really think I did not use that excuse a time or two, to leave my beloved?" Stalking down the road, Klaus continued to look irritable.

"Nik, I'm sure she intends on coming home to you," Rebekah reasoned. "I mean, why would she not? It is clear that Caroline has fallen in love with you, despite certain, glaring flaws such as your temperament, lack of manners, general disregard for others well-being and—"

"Rebekah?" Klaus said, offering her a kind look, his eyes softening, a smile on his face.

"Yes?" Rebekah replied, still thinking of reasons that her brother might drive off Caroline.

"Do shut up!" Klaus shouted at her, his eyes glowing with rage.

"See! And you have absolutely no patience!" Rebekah shouted back, stalking after him. "You are mean and cold-hearted as well!"

Klaus sighed and stopped walking. "Do you not have a husband to annoy with your seemingly ceaseless ramblings?" His eyebrows rose, a smirk playing on his lips and Rebekah scoffed.

"I do. I just do not know if I want to," Rebekah folded her arms over her chest. "What if he is rebounding? You know that I hate being second choice."

"Rebekah, darling," Klaus placed his hands on her shoulders. "So long as Elena Gilbert lives, you will always be Stefan's second choice. Now why don't you run off and find a solution to that?" Patting her shoulders, Klaus turned and started walking away.

Gritting her teeth, Rebekah continued to follow him. "I am much more concerned about our family. How are we to stay together with Father and Mother driving a wedge between us, with all of this paternity drama?"

"I'll send you postcards when you find your real father," Klaus snapped.

"Niklaus!" Rebekah shouted, stomping her foot.

Klaus stopped and looked at her. "Rebekah. You are a Mikaelson. You have always been a Mikaelson. And you are my sister. I do not care if we have the same father or not."

"Good," Rebekah replied, smiling.

"Right," Klaus shook his head.

"Klaus!" a cry came from the sight of the wreck they had just come from. "Klaus!" the voice sounded like it was in pain.

"Rebekah?" Klaus' head turned to Rebekah, who frowned and then they both sped back to the wreck.

"Caroline?" Klaus shouted, digging through the wreckage before he found Caroline who somehow managed to be unscathed, lucky her. Helping the blonde out of the truck; Klaus looked confused. "Caroline! How is this possible? I saw you ride off with that vampire." His hands stroked her face tenderly and Rebekah wondered where Stefan was and if he missed her at that moment.

"Me? Leave with Spike? Are you kidding me?" Caroline demanded, smacking him on the arm. "Seriously! Who do you think I am? Elena?" Dusting herself off, Caroline looked around at the wreck. "Wow! That could have been a lot worse."

Rebekah eyed Klaus's bloody shirt. "Quite," she replied, sarcasm dripping from her tongue.

Caroline seemed oblivious. "So, are we going back to the movie? I think we're about twelve hours late."

"Really? We could have been turned into some kind of monster, bent on killing every last life form on the planet, and your number one priority is to get back to the movie set of the world's scariest director?" Rebekah demanded, placing a hand on her hip.

Caroline turned to face Rebekah. "Do you have a better idea?" she snapped.

"No," Rebekah admitted. Sighing, she fell into step beside Klaus who seemed to have calmed down considerably since he found his precious Caroline.

"Perhaps Father has received the results of Kol's DNA test," Klaus mused.

This left Rebekah feeling more cheerful. "Thank you, Nik. Now I have something to look forward to. If only there was a way to get home faster."

The sound of a car coming their way attracted the attention of the three vampires. Smirking, Rebekah moved closer to the road. "And the side benefit of dinner would be a plus."

As the car approached, Rebekah waited before relaxing. "Elijah!" she shouted, waving her arms.

Elijah pulled over and got of the car, with Finn, who stared at the wreck. "Looks as if you had a bit of trouble," Finn said, examining the truck they'd been inside.

"Finn, I would suggest not standing so close. That truck is bound to blow up and I would hate to have to tell Father that we are late to return because we had to collect your head from a nearby ditch."

"Should we not check to see if there are any more survivors?" Finn inquired, his eyes moving from Elijah to the rest of the group.

"I think we are late enough, brother," Klaus replied, opening the door to the passenger seat. "Shall we?"

Elijah slid in behind the wheel and Rebekah found herself stuck between Finn and Caroline. "Drat," she muttered, glancing out the window and seeing Riley Finn, trying to escape his vehicle.

"Does anyone have a lighter?" Rebekah asked her family.

Caroline pulled one out. "Looks like Spike did leave something behind," she mused.

Rebekah flicked the lighter on, leaned over Finn, and tossed it at the wreck, grinning when it blew up. "Looks like you won't be making a return in season six after all," she said, falling back into her seat and chuckling while everyone but Caroline gave her strange looks.

"Who do you think the blonde was that left with that vampire?" Klaus asked Caroline.

Caroline looked at Rebekah before her eyes widened. "We changed the storyline. Spuffy, season four!" she cheered, hugging Rebekah while Finn pulled out his phone and began to type.

"Shall I tweet about it?" Finn asked them.

Damon wished someone would just kill him already. "Why do I have to stand in for Caroline?" he demanded for the fifteenth time.

"And why am I playing his love interest?" Jeremy cried. "I hate Damon."

"We know!" Bonnie shouted, rubbing her temples. "After you said it one hundred and twenty-five times."

"Actually he said it another eighteen while you were taking a bathroom break," Katherine said, picking up the script and examining it. "Boring. Boring. Boring. Oh, my God! Are you kidding me? Do you really think that an American audiences will go for this drivel? Where is the sex? The gratuitous violence? The hot, bad girl, who everyone not-so-secretly loves?" She pinned Elena and Stefan with a long look, waving the script in their faces. "I say it's time for Katherine Pierce to take the wheel to show you weak-kneed idiots how writing is really done. All I need is some tequila and for all the guys here to take their clothes off."

"Kat, correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think that is sexual harassment." Damon's eyebrows went up as he spoke, his eyes flicking to the others. "And I have seen just about enough of all of this," he waved a finger to indicate himself, Stefan and Jeremy, "to last me another century."

"Damon Salvatore balks at a nude scene," Katherine placed a hand over her heart. "Color me shocked."

"Color me bored," Kol called, entering the studio.

"Where have you been?" Mikael demanded, glaring at Kol.

"Off to Italy. Came back on the Redeye." Kol retorted.

Esther walked in and Mikael glanced at her before glaring at Kol. "And you have the audacity to bring your mother?"

Kol shrugged. "I lost my car in a game of poker. She offered me a lift." Walking over to the couch, he plopped down beside Bonnie. "Hello, darling," he said when she shoved him onto the floor.

"What the bloody hell was that for?" Kol shouted, glaring at Bonnie.

"You turned my boyfriend into a vampire," Bonnie retorted. "Now all he wants to do is drink."

"Is that something new?" Kol demanded, getting to his feet and straightening his shirt.

"He wants to drink me," Bonnie snarled.

"TMI!, Bon Bon," Damon called, his face wrinkling in disgust. "Whatever you do in the bedroom is between you, Jeremy and your Peeping Tom, Kol."

"I knew it!" Bonnie cried, getting up and raising her hands.

Kol backed away from her. "Father! I changed my mind. I would very much like to play a role in your film. Where do I sign?" Damon offered Kol a pen while Mikael gave him a disgusted look before his eyes fell on something in Kol's pocket.

"What is that?" Mikael demanded and Damon got the feeling that things were about to get interesting.

"Nothing!" Kol exclaimed, trying to stop Mikael from taking the envelope, he withdrew from his pants and sped to the other side of the room.

"Give it to me!" Mikael shouted. He sped over to Kol, trying to take the envelope when Kol threw it behind him.

Jeremy grabbed the envelope and Mikael began to chase him. Jeremy tossed the envelope to Stefan, who offered it to Elena. Elena's eyes widened when Mikael let out a growl and tried to tackle her. Damon scooped her up and sped toward the door, tossing the envelope in the air on his way out.

Katherine caught the envelope and grinned. "Oh, this is bound to be good," she said, sliding a folded piece of paper from the envelope and unfolding it.

Everyone in the room became completely silent.

"Well, is he my son or not?" Mikael demanded, his eyes boring into Katherine who looked confused.

"I have no idea. But Kol is going to be attending Oxford next year," Katherine said, holding up the letter of acceptance.

Kol's head fell. "There goes my reputation."

"Oh, darling," Esther cried, clapping her hands together. "I am so proud of you." She moved to hug Kol who edged away from her.

"It's all Nik's fault. One lousy bet and the next thing I know I have to go to prissy, elitist higher education. Why is life so bloody unfair?" Kol moaned, going to flop on the couch, and burying his face in Bonnie's shoulder who patted his head. "Why?" he cried.

Katherine sighed. "Right. Where was I? Oh, yes! And then she was riding him all the way to—"

Mikael turned and grabbed the laptop that Katherine had stolen from Stefan and his eyes widened as he looked at the pages. "What is this? No one will watch this!" Shaking his head, Mikael looked disgusted.

"Oh, really?" Katherine snapped, pulling out her phone, she pulled up ten of the highest rated TV shows and films, in the past five years.

"And the public enjoys these tawdry spectacles?" Mikael's eyes were glued to the screen.

"Welcome to the twenty-first century, Mikael," Esther said.

Mikael gave her a withering look. "Do you believe that Liz Forbes would be interested in seeing one of these films?" he asked Katherine.

Katherine grinned. "Would she? I think she'd enjoy acting out this scene," she flipped through pages in her new screenplay.

Staring at the screen, Mikael frowned. "Is it possible for a human woman to contort her body in such a manner?"

"How did you get so many kids?" Katherine asked Esther who shook her head.

"Lack of birth control," Esther replied.

"Esther!" Mikael shouted.

"You mean I wouldn't be here if you had access to The Pill?" Kol cried, looking shocked and then burying his head in Bonnie's shoulder. "Why?" he cried.

"Stop coming onto my girlfriend," Jeremy snapped at Kol.

"I saw her first," Kol retorted.

"We're back," Caroline called as the missing members of their group returned. "And I have an idea of how to save this movie?"

"Does it involve this?" Mikael asked, speeding over to her side and showing her Katherine's work.

Caroline's jaw dropped. "God no. Elena Gilbert, I did not know you knew those words."

"It wasn't me." Elena shook her head as Damon set her on her feet.

"Stefan?" Caroline stared at Stefan who shook his head.

"I did not write that," Stefan retorted.

"You just did it. A couple of times," Katherine said.

"You mean he did that, to you," Damon corrected, peering over Caroline's shoulder.

"No," Katherine corrected Damon. "I did that, to him."

"Oh!" the group said.

"Ew!" Caroline's nose wrinkled. "Okay. Let's never think about this again. New document and I will be ready in an hour. I just need…"

"Naked guys!" Katherine cheered. "You heard her: Elijah, strip!"

Elijah gave Katherine a look, one eyebrow rising as Kol's shirt went flying. "I think not."

"Booze," Bonnie said.

"Yes," Caroline nodded.

"And a brain," Rebekah added.

Caroline glared at Rebekah who shrugged. "Do not tell me I was the only one thinking it."

Kol's pants went flying.

"Love and support," Klaus offered. "Or at the very least someone to give you a massage."

"Thank you, Klaus," Caroline said. "And some blood would be nice too."

"Matt's here," Elena said.

"Oh, good. The Grille delivers, again," Damon said, speeding over to Matt.

"Leave him alone, Damon," Elena snapped.

Kol's boxers hit Jeremy in the face. "What in the hell, man!" Jeremy cried, throwing the garment aside.

Kol grinned, standing up and staring at everyone. "I feel so free!"

"Kol, put your pants on, right now!" Mikael shouted. "Or so help me—"

"Only my father can punish me for being naked!" Kol shouted and he began to speed around the set.

Sage came in and nodded. "I see that things are just like they were the other day."

"Sage?" Damon cried.

"Mother?" Finn cried.

"Yes?" Esther said as Finn moved to stand beside her. "What's wrong, darling?"

"What have you done to Sage?" Finn whispered.

"Don't you like her like this?" Esther asked.

Sage walked over to them. "You mom took me on a shopping trip and to the hairdresser yesterday. They're right, blondes do have more fun."

"Oh, no," Finn moaned.

Kol began to laugh. "Oh, Finn, your girlfriend is wearing the same dress as Mother! Ha-ha!"

"Get back here!" Finn shouted, chasing Kol.

"Everyone! Attention, please!" Rebekah shouted.

Damon glanced at the Original sister but then chose to ignore her.

"Everyone!" Rebekah shrieked and even Kol stopped, turning to stare at his sister who looked like she might start staking them at random which made him grin. "I have an announcement to make –"

"You're pregnant," Damon cried, grinning and grabbing Stefan by the shoulders. "Congrads, bro, you're about to have a creepy Twi-baby of your very own."

"Shut it, Damon, or I will rip out your tongue," Rebekah sniffed and tossed her hair over her shoulder. "I have a new script idea, if anyone is interested…"

On the car ride home:

Rebekah stared out the window, not looking forward to what awaited her on the set of her father's film when a brilliant idea struck her. "Nik, I've thought of something."

"Does it involve killing?" Klaus asked.

Caroline slapped Klaus on the chest. "Shut up, Klaus. Go on, Rebekah."

Smirking, Rebekah continued. "My plan is to write a new script about a young girl, the only one in a generation who is meant to fight the forces of evil, she is the slayer."

"Isn't that Buffy?" Caroline asked, her brows knitting together.

"Exactly. And Father will be held responsible, once I pen his name as the author of the work," Rebekah told her with a satisfied smile.

"But, Rebekah, Father is already unhappy—what with our paternity still unresolved—can you not think of a better idea?" Finn asked her, his eyes pleading.

"Oh, stop being such a suck up, Finn," Elijah snapped, pulling into the parking lot of the film set.

"Thank you, Elijah," Rebekah said. "All in favor?"

Klaus, Caroline, Elijah and Rebekah held up their hands.

"All opposed?" Finn held up his hand.

"It looks like I win," Rebekah offered Finn a triumphant smile before getting out of the car. It looked like today would be a good day after all.

Everyone held their breath while Mikael contemplated Rebekah's idea. "And young people will go for this type of film?"

"Oh, yeah!" Stefan said, nodding and moving to slip his arms around a surprised Rebekah's waist. "Hell, you might even get a TV series out of it."

"Right. We will begin filming tomorrow, Stefan and Rebekah, you will spend the rest of the day, and all night if you have to—rewriting the script."

Everyone else left the set and they were in a jovial mood about re-making Buffy. "You think that Mikael asked for the rights for a re-make?" Elena asked Damon.

"Nah," Damon said. "Everyone, drinks are on me!"

"Not again," Bonnie moaned.

Kol picked up Bonnie, throwing her over his shoulder and Jeremy gave chase.

"So, Klaus, do you think of yourself as a Spike or an Angel?" Caroline teased Klaus.

Klaus looked offended. "I am nothing like that vampire we met."

"Who?" Elena interrupted them.

"Spike," Caroline replied, taking Klaus' hand.

"He's definitely Spike material," Elena said. Damon nodded.

"I am not!" Klaus snarled.

"Is Klaus more like Spike or Angel!" Caroline called to everyone.

"Spike!" Everyone who knew who they were replied.

"Or Angelus," Bonnie added.

"Who is Angelus?" Klaus looked confused.

"Buffy marathon!" Caroline cried. "Let's go!"

"No, no! Drinking!" Damon shouted.

"Both! At chateau Salvatore!" Kol added. "Without Stefan there to ruin all the fun!"

Caroline grinned and half-dragged Klaus off to teach him about fictional vampires.
