Chapter 36
--
Sai couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Call it a sixth sense, or paranoia, or just plain stupid luck- but he knew something wasn't right, and he knew to trust that feeling.
He quickly dressed in his Anbu blacks, suspecting that he may need to be stealthy, armed himself with his ninja art supplies and as many weapons as he could carry, and leapt into the night. He made a beeline towards the Uchiha manor, a sick feeling curling in his gut.
He was worried about Naruto, and the feeling increased with every step. Something's wrong. I know it is.
He was right to trust that feeling.
When he got to the estate, he knew immediately that something terrible had happened there. He spotted broken glass on one side of the house, and when he moved around to investigate it further he saw the hole in the wall from where Naruto had blasted his Rasengan. He peered inside and found a path of destruction, and a collection of corpses. They were wearing Akatsuki robes.
No..
"Naruto!?" Sai ran through the house, panic blooming in his chest. He knew it was pointless though. Naruto was gone. And so was Sasuke.
Not gone- taken.
He went back and checked the bodies of the Akatsuki members. The men were dead, but still relatively warm. They haven't been dead for long- meaning Naruto and Sasuke might still be close.
He had to be quick.
Sai unfurled a scroll and whipped out his brush, quickly sketching his mice to scout ahead, along with a carrier crow to deliver a hand-written message. He needed to alert the Hokage immediately, but he wasn't willing to wait.
Naruto needed him.
Now.
He wouldn't delay a moment longer.
He leapt to the roof of the Uchiha manor and scanned the area, but there was no sign of where they may have gone. He thought for a moment before heading off towards the second hideout he had heard about when Naruto first went missing. Sai had no reason to believe that it was where they were taken, but it was the only place he could think of that would be isolated and hidden enough to bring two captives to at this time of night. Plus, it used to serve as a base for the Akatsuki in the past.. it would make sense that they would use it again.
He took off in that direction, moving fast, hoping that he was right.. and that he wasn't too late.
"Hang on," Sai whispered. "Please, just hang on-"
"Naruto!" Sasuke jolted awake, crying out for his blonde the moment he regained consciousness.
He tried to jump to his feet, even before his vision cleared all the way, but he couldn't move. Panic pulsed through him, but he forced himself to calm down and take deep breaths. Darkness faded, and once he could see clearly, he looked down. He was tied securely to a chair, arms and legs bound. He struggled against his bindings, trying to free himself, but there was no give.
"Fuck.."
He looked up and quickly scanned his surroundings. He was clearly in some kind of hideout, and from the looks of it he was underground. The walls were made up of rough uneven rock, the floor dark stone with a layer of dirt spewed across it. The air smelled of wet soil, old wood, and the sharp tang of sweat and fear.
His stomach clenched and for a moment he thought he was going to be sick. He took a couple more deep breaths, and forced the rising bile back down his throat.
Come on, Sasuke. Get it together!
Naruto needs you.
An image of Itachi forced its way into his mind. He couldn't unsee the look in his eyes as his gaze fell on Naruto- lying on the ground at the Uchiha estate, unconscious.. vulnerable..
Oh my god.. his dark eyes widened as a fresh wave of horror rushed through him. What if Itachi already got to Naruto? What if he was with him right now? What if he was..
Don't think about it. Don't..
But the images still crawled to the forefront of his mind- of Itachi holding Naruto down on the bed, forcing himself against him.. of Naruto screaming out for Sasuke to help him.
He pushed back the tears rising in his eyes, and the bile rising in his throat once more. Just focus on saving Naruto, he told himself.
You can't let this happen to him. Not again. You have to stop Itachi.
You have to.
Naruto blinked his eyes open, trying to adjust to the darkness surrounding him. What..? Where am I?
He tried to sit up, but his arms and legs felt stiff, heavy.. weighed down. No.. not weighed down, he thought. His heart started beating violently against his chest, and his breath snagged in his throat as sharp fear stabbed through him. He recognized this feeling.
No.. no, please- this can't be happening..
His head shot over to the side. His eyes had adjusted enough for him to make out the rope tied around his wrist. It was the same with the other one. And his ankles. He was tied down to a bed.
"No..." he moaned, a sob struggling to free itself. "No, no..no.."
He started hyperventilating, his whole body shook with terror.
No.. it- it can't be. It's not possible.. it can't be him. He's dead. I saw him die! But.. who else would.?
The door across from him suddenly opened, and a piercingly bright light flooded the room. Naruto turned his head to see who it was, but the light eclipsed his visitor- making him into nothing more than a human-shaped shadow.
He held his breath, waiting for whoever it was to step closer. Please let it be Sasuke, please let it be Sasuke..
It wasn't.
"Hello, Naruto."
Sasuke screamed, pulling at his wrists as hard as he could, but the fucking rope wouldn't come lose. "Please!!" he shouted. "Goddamnit!!"
He threw his head back, slamming it into the chair over and over. "Come on!! Please!"
Tears streamed down his face as he fought to free himself, but he was still in the same place, his restraints just as solid, and for all he knew Naruto was-
"No- come on!!"
Sasuke threw his body against the chair and felt it rock beneath him. Which gave him an idea. He slammed against the chair as hard as he could over and over. He could feel it rocking violently, but he didn't stop. He gritted his teeth as he kept throwing himself against it, until finally, with one final push he sent it toppling to the side.
His head slammed against the stone floor, hard, clacking his teeth together and jarring his senses. It took him a moment to recover, and when he did he found that one of the chair's arms had splintered.
His eyes widened, and he immediately turned his body, slamming the fractured wood into the ground repeatedly until the room echoed with a resounding snap.
He had managed to break the arm of the chair.
"Finally!"
Sasuke hurriedly dragged his arm along it's length, desperate to free himself. He could feel splinters lodge deep into the skin of his wrist and forearm, but he didn't care. When he was finally able to free his arm he reached over to untie his other wrist. His hands were shaking, but he was still able to untie his wrists and ankles relatively quickly.
Free from his restraints, Sasuke moved to stand up, but immediately collapsed. The ties around his ankles had made his feet numb, rendering them completely useless.
You have got to be fucking kidding me!
He crawled his way across the room, instead, making his way over to the door. He looked beneath it, holding his ear close, but he saw nothing and heard nothing.
He had high hopes that there was nothing waiting for him on the other side.
Sai came to a halt several paces away from the hideout, keeping himself hidden in dense shadows. He knew he had to be smart about this. If Naruto's in there, he'll be well guarded. And it will be Akatsuki. These were not enemies to take lightly.
He rolled out his scroll and quickly sketched out another handful of mice, sending them ahead to check the hideout. As they scampered away, Sai carefully moved around the perimeter, checking for traps, lookouts, or any sign of his friend.
So far, there was nothing.
It made Sai feel something he didn't like- a pulsing, high energy wrapped in immense fear. He realized that he was terrified. Terrified that he had made the wrong call- that nothing was here.
And he was just as equally terrified that he had made the right one, and that he would find something horrific inside.
"Hello, Naruto."
Itachi stepped into the room, closing the door behind him.
"No.." Naruto choked out. "No.. it can't be."
Itachi flipped on a light, illuminating the bed, the horrified blonde tied to it, and Naruto's worst nightmare walking towards him.
Naruto's body shook as the Uchiha approached him; his mouth went dry, and all he could do was stare with wide terrified eyes as Itachi stepped close. Naruto watched as Itachi's manic smile stretched across his pale face, his eyes shining with hunger as they scanned over his body.
Every moment spent being violated, tormented.. raped by Itachi suddenly forced its way into Naruto's mind. He tried to block it out, but he couldn't get the images to stop. It felt so real, like it was happening all over again.
Naruto sobbed as the memories flashed through his tortured mind. He could see it vividly- Itachi tearing his clothes away, climbing on top of him, running his hands over his body.. grabbing his hips as he positioned himself, then violently forcing his length into him, thrusting into him over and over and over-
"Stop-" Naruto begged, another sob tearing through him. "Pl-please! St-stop!!"
The sharingan, he realized. He's using the Mangekyo Sharingan to make me see this.. to make me relive this.
I can't.. I can't do this. I have to break out of this.
Please..
A knock came from the door, and the memories suddenly stopped. Whoever it was, they had pulled away Itachi's concentration, releasing Naruto from his mental prison.
The Uchiha was not happy to be interrupted. "What?!" he shouted, crimson eyes burning with fury.
The door opened and Obito strolled confidently inside, slamming it closed behind him.
"I said, what" Itachi grated out, "I never said come in."
"You are not the one in charge here." Obito's one revealed eye swiveled over to look at the blonde tied securely to the bed. He noted the raw marks around his wrists, the tears slipping from his huge terrified eyes. "I see you've made yourself quite at home here, Itachi."
Itachi stepped in front of the masked Akatsuki leader, blocking his view of his captive. He was not one to share. And he was not ready to hand him over just yet. He knew what the Akatsuki had in mind for Naruto, and Itachi was going to make sure he thoroughly enjoyed the boy first.
"I assumed you brought me back for a reason, Obito" he said carefully. "Is this not the reason?"
Obito took a step closer. "I expected you to distract your little brother for a while first. Give me time to get to know our jinchuriki before you-" he looked pointedly towards the bed, "- completely destroy him."
Itachi narrowed his eyes.
"In the meantime," Obito continued, "why don't you work on convincing Sasuke to take your place."
The Uchiha studied him. "Considering who it was that killed me, twice might I add, I highly doubt he will be inclined to do anything I say."
"I'm sure you could find a way to convince him."
Itachi looked over his shoulder at the blonde waiting for him, then back at the masked man before him.
"He'll still be right where you left him when you come back" Obito stated. "Promise. But you have a job to do now."
Itachi's lips curled. "Understood."
Before he left, however, Itachi turned and stormed back over to the bed. Naruto tried to shrink away from his touch, but there was no where he could go. A weak sound escaped his lips as Itachi reached for him, a sound that reverberated throughout the Uchiha's entire body. Naruto could see the lust in the man's eyes, and it horrified him.
Itachi suddenly lashed out and grabbed a fistful of the blonde's hair, jerking his head back.
"Nnnn!" Naruto groaned, wincing in pain.
The Uchiha leaned in until his mouth was mere inches from the blonde's. "I won't be gone long, Naruto. And when I come back, we will pick up where we left off-"
His eyes gleamed as he moved even closer, his lips brushing against Naruto's.
"- For real this time."
Then he roughly shoved his mouth against Naruto's, forcing his lips back against his teeth. The blonde's muffled sob didn't phase him, if anything it enticed him even more.
"Itachi."
The Uchiha reluctantly pulled back. "Fine." He tightened his grip in Naruto's hair once more, awarding himself with another pained gasp, before finally releasing him and walking away.
Naruto dropped his head back and turned his face away, biting his lip as hard as he could to contain the whimpers desperate to escape him. He forced them down, then turned to face the Akatsuki leader.
"Pl-please, Obito" he begged, "please.. just kill me." He stared at him with huge desperate eyes, hoping to find some semblance of humanity left in the man.
"I'm begging you.. please- kill me. Don't.." Naruto clenched his jaw tight, forcing back the pain and fear closing in on him. "- don't let him come back. Please."
Obito studied him for a moment. "Hmm.. and what would I get in exchange for my mercy? I already have you, jinchuriki. What else do you think you can offer me?" Obito asked.
"What do you want?" Naruto asked weakly.
Obito smiled behind the mask. He stepped up to his desperate prisoner and leaned close to let him know exactly what he wanted.
What he would require from the blonde before Itachi could be disposed of- once and for all.
The only other thing Naruto could offer him besides the nine tails that resided within him.
"I want Sasuke."
