I do not own Loud House
Lincoln's stomach growled, interrupting his concentration on his book. He was confused though, he just had breakfast so he wasn't sure why he was so hungry. He looked over at his clock and saw that over five hours had passed. This left him even more confused, there was no way that much time had passed, he was only able to get through fifteen pages of his book. This was just like back at the convention, too much time passed without him realizing it.
His stomach growled again, so he just shrugged off the thought. He guessed it was time to get some lunch. He closed his book and got up, opening the door to head downstairs. The moment he opens the door, the silence from his room explodes in loud, energetic, antics from around the house. Lincoln just walked past everything and made his way to the kitchen, where the only person there was Luan. She was busy making her pies when she noticed him walking in.
"Hey Lincoln, What's the best thing to put in a banana cream pie?" Luan asked, turning to face Lincoln with both hands behind her back and a grin on her face. Lincoln would normally be suspicious of this, but he was just neutral right now. He figured he should not jump to conclusions.
"I don't know, what is the best thing?" Lincoln asked. Luan's grin grew even bigger. Instead of answering, she reaches back and throws a pie at Lincoln's face. Lincoln wipes it out of his eyes.
"Your teeth! Hahaha, get it?" Luan jokes. She stopped laughing when she watched Lincoln's response, or lack of. Instead of getting a reaction to her joke, he just wiped off the rest of her pie on his face and nodded.
"Yes, because my teeth are used to eat the pie." Lincoln finished wiping off the rest of the pie. He walks past Luan and opens the refrigerator, not noticing the look Luan is giving him.
Luan didn't know what to think right now. She couldn't tell how her brother felt about her joke/prank. He made it sound like it was a good one, but his actions said the opposite. Plus, this was the second time he explained her jokes to her, which was now starting to unnerve her. Lincoln, walked past her and opened the fridge.
"Hey, Linc." Her brother turned to her.
"Yes." Lincoln had a jar of peanut butter in his hands. He acknowledged her, but was still into doing his task.
"Did I do something wrong, you're acting differently."
"What do you mean?" Lincoln was still making lunch. He spread the peanut butter on some bread he pulled out, much to Luan's surprise.
"Well for starters, you haven't laughed at any of my jokes for a while. And since when do you not eat peanut butter like that?"
Lincoln just shrugged.
"You guys complained about me eating from a jar so I thought I would try something new."
"And my jokes?"
"I'm sorry, that's my fault. I'll try again next time."
Lincoln walked away, sandwich in hand and leaving Luan confused yet slightly offended. He would try again next time, since when does Lincoln or any of her siblings need to try to laugh at her jokes? Did her brother just not find her funny, if so then that made her a little upset. Although now that she thought about it, she guessed that the pie stunt was a little too simple. She grinned to herself once she knew what to do. Later in the day, she'll come up with something new and creative to make her brother laugh.
Lincoln walked back into his room and shut the door, making everything quiet again. He was about to start reading again but paused. He started to realize something. If it took him five hours to finish fifteen pages, then how long would it take him to finish the whole thing? He couldn't understand why it was taking him so long, was it just because he was hungry or was he always this slow of a reader? His head turned towards the door when he heard a loud crash and yelling outside. This made him realize that maybe it was just the house, maybe there are too many distractions such as his family to get through this.
"The library is quiet." He thought to himself. Even though he hardly ever goes to the library, honestly hasn't been in years, he figured he might as well try it.
So, he finished the rest of his sandwich and walked out of his room, book in his arm. In what felt like a blur, he made it to the front door and walked out of the house. He was hoping to make his way to the library without any more hiccups. Unfortunately, he wasn't that lucky. Once again, he wasn't paying attention as he bumped into someone's back and fell down.
"Hey, watch where you're going Larry." Complained about the person he ran into. Lincoln froze, he only knew one person that called him that. He looked up and saw that he ran into Chandler and his goons. Obviously the last people he wanted to meet on the weekend, considering the recent events and the glares the three were giving him.
"I'm sorry, that's my fault, I should've paid attention." Lincoln said as got back up and wiped himself off. Chandler just crossed his arms.
"Yeah, you should be. Now I gotta go buy another smoothie." Chandler gestured to the stain on his shirt and the smoothie on the ground behind him. "You're going to pay for this Loud."
"Ok." Lincoln reached into his pocket and pulled out a $20 bill, handing it over to Chandler, much to his shock. "Here you go."
Chandler slowly reaches for the $20, still with a shocked expression along with his goons. He grabs one of the corners and takes it without taking his eyes off Lincoln.
"Is that enough to pay you back?" Lincoln asked.
Chandler shook his head and snapped out of his shock. He was about to answer but stopped himself. An idea just formed in his head, which put a smirk on his face.
"Actually, my buds do not like the smoothies they have now." Chandler gestures to his friends, not knowing where Chandler was going with this. "They were thinking of buying new ones, unfortunately they don't have enough money for that."
"Oh, well this is all I have left." Lincoln reached in his pocket and pulled out the rest of the money he had, which Chandler snatched from him and counted in his hand. He smiled with satisfaction, and stashed it in his pocket.
"That'll due."
"So, are we good now?"
"Not quite," Chandler was definitely enjoying this. "I need two things. One, meet us at the front entrance of school when we go back on Monday."
"And the other?" Chandler puts his hand on Lincoln's shoulder, holding out some papers in his other hand.
"I'm a little behind on my math homework, would you mind doing the rest for me."
"Actually, I was going to go to the library."
"Perfect, that means you'll have a quiet place to work."
"Uh, I don't know." Lincoln rubbed his arm in hesitation.
"Ok," Chandler shrugged. "I guess you paying me back was just a lie, looks like you're not as nice as people say."
Chandler turned back to his goons, winking at them then starting to walk away from Lincoln.
"Wait." Chandler stops and turns back to Lincoln. "I can work on your math homework at the library."
Chandler smirks and turns back to Lincoln, handing him his homework.
"Thanks, man. You can give it back when we meet at the front entrance on monday."
Lincoln nodded. He took the papers from Chandler and walked away, heading towards the library. As he walked away, Chandler and his goons watched him go, the goons still confused.
"Uh, why did just give you all his money?" One of them asked.
"Also, why did he agree to do those things for you without question?" Asked the other.
"Don't know, but I don't really care." Chandler pulls out the money and looks at it with a grin. "I think we can have some fun with this."
Lincoln walked with the new item in his hand. Lincoln looked down at it and questioned if he did the right thing. On one hand, he never liked Chandler and would never do something like this since he knew Chandler wouldn't do the same. But on the other hand, he did do something really bad to Chandler because he wasn't looking. This is just like back at the convention, if he had paid better attention to the contest instead of himself, he wouldn't have caused problems for everyone. He focused on himself during the convention and he focused on himself right now when he could've seen Chandler coming.
Lincoln was relieved when he finally saw he made it to the library. He walked in and saw a few empty tables, satisfied he picked on and set his book and homework on the table. He was really hoping to see if there were any books he could buy while he was here. But since he has no money, he'll just have to settle with the book he has now. First things first, he needed a pencil. He got up from his seat and walked to the front desk.
"Excuse me, can I borrow a pencil?" Lincoln asked the librarian. She smiles at him and hands him one. Lincoln walks back to the table and takes his seat. He sits down and takes a deep breath, then begins to work.
Authors note: So I know this took so long for a chapter that is so short, my apologies. It's just that sometimes I do certain things while I'm writing like watching tv or eating. It's a bad habit but it helps me relax so sorry if some of you are disappointed.
