Ch.7 Remembering Yesterday
July 16, 2017, GJSDF Houston, Texas 7:30 A.M.
Destiny had just finished getting dressed. She wore a casual dark blue top with Kiryu's face on it. It was a small custom design she had wanted. The shirt was complemented by a pair of white jean shorts. She wore blue and white matching Nikes. She looked herself over in the mirror before grabbing a comb and running it through her white hair. It took her a while to get used to her hair's new look. She really only started to like it after Jacob had complemented her about it.
"Damn Destiny, how much longer are you gonna be?" Shego asked as she walked into her older sister's room.
Shego was dressed in a black leather jacket, with a green top that showed her midriff, and black skinny jeans and black framed sunglasses with green tinted lens. She was also wearing Destiny's cap that all the members of team Kiryu wore.
Destiny craned her eyebrow as Shego preened, with a cocky smile.
"Don't hate because it looks good on me." Shego said.
"Fuck you." Was Destiny's immediate response.
"I'm pretty sure that's illegal here in the good ole U S of A." Shego said with a smirk as she jumped on Destiny's bed and laid back. "Besides you're not my type."
"I'm heartbroken." Destiny said trying to sound as sarcastic as possible. She smiled a bit when she saw Shego flipping her off in the mirror's reflection. "What is your type anyway?"
"Athletic, some muscle, cute, a sense of style and the ability to cater to my needs." Shego said.
"So you want a man that's a butler?" Destiny said still combing through her locks of white hair.
"Nothing wrong with wanting to be taken care of." Shego said as she picked up one of Destiny's many fashion magazines.
"No there's not. Still there is a difference between having a lover and a sex slave." Destiny told her.
"I prefer the term booty call." Shego said correcting Destiny. "Besides none of the men here look like they candle all of this." She said as she gestured to herself.
"What about women?" The white haired woman asked.
"What?" Shego said as she lowered the magazine. "What makes you think I'm into women?"
"I've got a fine eye for detail. I didn't become 2nd Lieutenant because I look good in a uniform."
"Could have fooled me." Shego mumbled.
"What was that?" Destiny said glaring at her sister from the mirror.
"Oh nothing dear sister, whose hair is as white as snow. Now enlighten me on my sexual preferences."
Destiny chuckled "You're such an ass." She told Shego as she finally sat the comb down and turned to face her sister. "Like I said if it's one thing I know its people. For example that Stoppable kid has a thing for Yori."
"Good luck with that. I haven't heard Yori say a word since the day she transferred here." Shego commented. "Oh, what about blondie?"
"Vivian? She's been crushing on Dr. Director."
"No way." Shego said more interested now.
"That one was easy. She always wears her lab coat open around her, showing off her "assets". Any other time she buttons it up."
"What about Tiara?" Shego asked.
"Same thing."
"She likes Vivian?" Shego asked.
"No" Destiny said shaking her head. "She likes Betty too. She likes to eye the Director whenever she thinks nobody is looking. I'm guessing she more than appreciates her figure."
Shego whistled. "Who would've thought the old warhorse had it in her. Two hotties for the price of one." She said sitting up.
"Not really." Destiny said cutting Shego off. "Betty is too concerned about the rising kaiju problem to even notice them."
"Real shame."
"Then there's you." She said pointing at her younger sister.
"What about me?" Shego asked.
"I see how you look at her. Ever since she came here, you've been different."
"I ask you again. What makes you think I like women?"
"You referred to both Vivian and Tiara as hotties." Destiny said. She smiled when she saw the shocked expression on Shego's face. "You didn't think I'd notice did you?"
Shego sighed. "Ok so I find women attractive big whoop. It's not that big of a deal, not like she'll care." Shego said looking off in the direction.
"Really now? I think she might disagree." Destiny told her.
"Who?" Shego said as she looked back to her sister.
Destiny rolled her eyes. "Who else do you think? Bonnie duh!"
"Bonnie isn't gay genius." Shego said correcting her sister.
"Then why have you been trying to pair her off with Kim?" Destiny asked, to which Shego didn't answer. "Look if Bonnie wasn't even the least bit curious she wouldn't put up with all your sexualized comments."
"Maybe she puts up with it because we're like sisters." Shego said.
"A sister you want to sleep with. Didn't you say incest was illegal in the good ole U, S of A?" Destiny smiled.
"Fuck off. When Bonnie came here she was confused. I'm just trying to guide her so she doesn't die."
"Yeah you want to guide her alright. Guide her right to your bed." Destiny said. "Since I'm such a caring and loving sister I'll help you out a bit. Her body language whenever she's around you says she's uncertain. She knows you care but she has mixed feelings because you're sending her mixed signals. She's better at hiding her feelings than you are which is why you don't believe she likes women." Destiny paused. "Quick question you said you don't believe Bonnie is into women."
"That's what I said."
"You really don't believe that do you? No, if you did you wouldn't be trying to fix her up with the first year. Shit sis how do you even know if the red head likes playing for the "other team"?" Destiny said making air quotes with her fingers.
"It's weird there is this look in her eye. Hell I don't even think she realizes it yet, but if she does it has to be someone she can sympathize with and there is nobody better than Bonnie."
"But you like Bonnie, what the hell are you doing?" Destiny said smacking Shego upside her head. "I knew you were this dumb, but damn."
"One, never hit me again, if you do I'm gonna be short one family member. Two, I don't want to get close to her and then end up dead. I couldn't do that to her."
"Listen to yourself. You sound so sure that you're going to die. I don't know what you're so scared of. Do you realize where we are? Any one of us could die the very next day. You need to sort whatever cluster fuck you have going on up there." Destiny said as she poked Shego's forehead.
Shego swatted her hand away. "You need to mind your own business. It's my life let me live it the way I want."
"Why are you getting so defensive all of a sudden?" Destiny said.
"I'm getting defensive because you're trying to run my life again. You tried that to do that when I wanted to join the self-defense force." Shego said.
"Of course I did. All you wanted to do is get revenge for our parents."
"You're damn right I do. He's number one on my blow his ass to kingdom fucking come list! You can't tell me that you don't want revenge. Our parents are dead Destiny, dead! I won't rest until I know that I've done everything I could to kill it. I don't care how long it takes."
"Listen to you, you're willing to throw your life away for this. Mom and dad would not want that." Destiny argued.
"You bet I would. Have you forgotten what it took from us?" Shego said standing up. "For you to sit there and say this tells me you didn't care for them as much as I do."
Shego's comment made something in Destiny snap and she shot up quickly, grabbing Shego and pinned her to the wall.
"Don't you ever say that again. There is no doubt in my mind that I loved mom and dad with all of my heart. They were our fucking parents Shego." She said, reemphasizing the statement as she slammed Shego on the wall again. "But that's the thing. They "were" our parents. They're gone that's a reality I have to face every god damn day, and there isn't anything I can do to change that. What I can do is protect you and our brothers. So forgive me if I get upset that you want to rush to an early death. I'm sorry I cared." She said shoving Shego to the side, and started to walk out of the room.
"I get that." Shego said, her lowered as she stared at her feet. "But I am not that eight year old girl that was crying for her parents anymore. I'm a grown ass woman that can make her own decisions. I want to protect what remains of our family just as bad as you. You have your way and I have mine. Don't act like just because you're the oldest I have to do whatever you say. It doesn't work that way anymore.
"Like hell it does. I'm not only your big sister, but I'm your commanding officer, your superior. If you ever disobey one of my orders I'll have you dishonorably discharged faster than Rodan on steroids." Destiny threatened.
"You can't do that because you need me."
"What can you do, that anybody else can't?"
"I can kill Godzilla." Shego said.
"Come again?" Destiny said positive she needed to clarify what she just heard Shego say.
"A while back Tiara and Vivian were running some tests on my abilities. You know testing my capabilities. The point is that they came to a shocking and stunning conclusion. I can kill Godzilla. However the process requires me to go inside him and overload his heart with said abilities." Shego told her.
"That's what you want to do. You want to be a fucking Kamikaze? What was the point of building Kiryu if you all you need to do is potentially blow yourself up?" Destiny asked.
"I never said I had to blow myself up." Shego told her.
"Godzilla is a walking bomb. If you overload his heart, I'm pretty sure he'll fucking explode." Destiny said. "Where the hell is Jacob?" Destiny asked ready to leave.
"You sure like leading him on don't you?" Shego said.
"What are you talking about now?" Destiny asked.
"It's obvious he likes you. Tell me would you actually date him? Since you were all up in my love life tell me about yours."
"Shego." Destiny said resisting the urge to slap her younger sister. "Jacob and I are…"
Destiny was interrupted by the sound of someone knocking on her door. "Destiny it's me. You ready?" Jacob said.
"Speak of the devil." Shego said.
"Isn't that you're middle name?" Destiny joked as she went to open the door.
"Only when people piss me off." Shego quipped.
Destiny opened the door and Jacob walked in. He too was dressed casually. He wore a black shirt with the White Sox logo on it. It came with a matching White Sox cap and he complimented that with black shorts and black and white Jordans.
"You're looking lovely." Jacob said complementing Destiny.
"I don't feel it. I've been feeling nauseous again lately." Destiny responded.
"You need to lay off the cafeteria food." Shego simply responded.
"Well if you aren't feeling too good, maybe we should hold off on leaving today?" Jacob suggested.
"Not a chance." Destiny said. "Rodan's little fiasco delayed us, but we're going. Yesterday was the anniversary of Godzilla's attack on Go City. It irks me I couldn't be there on that day to pay my respects to our parents."
"On that we can agree." Shego said.
Destiny clutched her stomach with her left hand and hunched over as she held on to the arm of the couch for support.
"You ok?" Shego asked throwing her sister a worried glance.
Destiny covered her mouth as if she was about to vomit build after a few seconds she regained her composure.
"I'm fine…I think my stomach is just disagreeing with me."
"I told you not to eat that garbage." Shego said.
"Look let's just go before…" Destiny didn't get a chance to finish her sentence as her stomach quickly became upset again and she quickly ran for the bathroom.
It wasn't long before the sounds of her vomiting filled their ears.
"Seriously, that's the third time this week." Shego groaned.
"Actually it's the fourth. She threw up yesterday night too." Jacob said correcting her. "How long has this been going on?"
"A few weeks now. It happens every time she eats that damn cafeteria food." She told Jacob. "Just so you know I am not cleaning up behind you this time!" Shego shouted.
"Fuck…you…" Destiny said from the bathroom in-between vomiting.
"We've been through this it's Illegal." Shego responded.
"It is?" Jacob asked.
Shego quickly threw him a look. "Hey, hey, hey keep your mind out of the gutter playboy. Or else I'll remove your third leg." The raven haired woman threatened.
Jacob threw his hands up in the air backing down from Shego. Though in his defense he wasn't thinking anything at first until Shego put the thought in his head.
XX
20 minutes later
Kim and Ron were walking down the halls. They were on their way to Betty's office to ask the Director if they could accompany the troops she was sending to Washington and help with anything. To Ron that was Kim's best quality all she wants is to help those she can. For as long as he has known her, Kim has put others before herself.
"Hey Destiny, hey Jacob." The red head said as she saw the group walk up to them.
"Hey Kim." The Lieutenants said with a smile.
Kim glanced over to see Shego glaring at her.
"What?" Kim asked.
"Hello? I'm here too. No hello Shego." She told Kim.
Kim chuckled. "Oh I'm sorry I didn't see you there at first. Good Morning Sherron." Kim said with a smile.
"That's Sergeant Sherron to you. Also when we're in public you will refer to me as Shego." She told Kim.
"What about when we're in private?" Kim asked.
The comment caught Shego off guard and she backed up a bit, a face blushing. Kim started to laugh.
"I was kidding."
"I-I knew that. I was only acting surprised." Shego quickly countered.
"Awkward conversations aside." Ron said interrupting them. "Where are you three off to?"
"San Francisco." Jacob answered.
"Good Ole SF." Ron said with a contented sigh. "You know I've always wanted to go there."
"Really? Well why don't you come with us?" Destiny suggested.
"That would be awesome!" Ron said. His hype however died down after he remembered that he and Kim needed to talk to Betty. "Wait, we can't. We were about to go see if Betty needed some extra hands in Washington."
"I'm sure the Director has more than enough people to help lend a hand." Jacob said waving the idea off.
"Besides we need somebody to fill our brother's spots while they are away." Destiny said.
"Oh we couldn't. I'd feel like we are intruding." Kim responded.
"Nonsense you two seem like interesting people." Jacob added on.
"Well I have been told I was quite the comedian." Ron said with a sly grin.
"A comedian, well that settles it. You have to come it should make that much more smoother." Jacob said.
"Yeah and Yori could use the company." Destiny said nonchalantly.
"Yori?" Ron repeated. "She's coming too?" Ron asked, trying to keep his cool.
"Yep, that's not going to be a problem is it?" Destiny asked.
"No, no. It's cool." Ron said.
"Good, then can we leave now?" Shego asked.
Once it was made clear to Kim and Ron that Destiny and Jacob weren't taking no for an answer the group to departed for GJ's airfield. As always Destiny made sure they had clearance from Betty to depart especially since they were taking her private jet. Jacob and Shego flew the plane since they both felt that Destiny needed to rest after what had transpired earlier.
San Francisco, California 12:45 p.m.
Hours passed and the group made it safely to San Francisco. Where they found that two cars were waiting for them. There was a green and black 2009 Dodge Challenger, which Shego claimed as hers. The other was an all-white 2010 Chevrolet Camaro which Destiny had fitted with a violet interior.
They drove off and headed to the nearest restaurant. They were quickly seated and awaited for a waiter to come take their order.
"I can't believe we're in San Francisco." Ron said.
Kim agreed. "It is nice." She said as her eyes scanned around the restaurant.
"Yeah things tend to pick up mid-summer. Hell any place is great when there aren't any kaiju around." Jacob said.
"I'll drink to that." Shego said pretending to hold up a glass of wine.
Destiny sighed. "We have guests, so do try and stay sober."
"You're not my mother." Shego quickly shot back.
Destiny glared at Shego and Jacob saw the white haired woman clench her fist and he moved to stop her as he placed his hand on Destiny's shoulder.
"Woah ladies, let's calm down. Remember today is a special day, you guys can fight another day right?"
"Get your hands off my sister." Shego told Jacob.
"That's it!" Destiny said a she slammed her fist down on the table and stood up.
Shego rose up as well and they got in each other's face. They began to attract attention towards themselves. However Jacob intervened once more.
"Ok, both of you need to chill the fuck out. You're acting like children." He said in a low voice. "Look the waiter will be here in five minutes I suggest you two go calm down and come back when you're both ready to be civilized."
Shego and Destiny glared at each other, before walking their separate ways. Shego walked outside while Destiny walked towards the back.
Jacob groaned. "You see what I have to deal with?" He said as he massaged his temples.
"Do they always argue?" Kim asked as she looked back to see Shego outside mumbling. She guessed that the younger sibling was probably cursing Destiny's name.
"Off and on, but it hardly ever gets this bad." He answered. "Only during this time of the year."
"Did something happen?" Kim asked.
Jacob nodded. "Yesterday was the anniversary of the night they lost their parents and for some reason they're always at each other's throats."
"Man that's rough." Ron commented.
"You're telling me. Sometimes I think I should just let them tear each other apart." He sighed.
"If you did that then you would be out of a girlfriend." Kim said.
"True." Jacob said with a smile.
"So how did Shego react when she found out you two are dating?" Ron asked out of curiosity.
"Ok here's the funny thing." Jacob said catching their Ron, Yori and Kim's attention. "Me and Destiny have been together for the better part of seven years now, and I don't think Shego even knows it."
Kim and Ron's jaws dropped. "Get out." Kim said finding that hard to believe.
"I'm serious, she spends so much time training for her "inevitable battle" she tends to be ignorant of the people around her." Jacob said.
"Could've fooled me." Kim said.
"Wait you said seven years?" Ron asked and Jacob nodded. "How come you guys aren't married?"
"I tried proposing." Jacob answered. "However Destiny said that she wants to get married when she's sure that the battle with the kaiju are over. Once they kill Godzilla." He said with a sigh. "Either way I'm behind her one hundred percent."
Kim was about to ask another question but found that question to be interrupted as two girls walked over. They looked like they were still in high school both were Caucasian only one had short blonde hair and the other shoulder length black hair.
"Um excuse me." The blonde asked timidly.
"How may I help you two ladies this afternoon?" Jacob politely asked.
"Aren't you with the self-defense force?" She asked.
"Yes we are." Jacob said motioning to others sitting with him.
"See I told you, these guys are legit. The real deal." The raven haired girl said. "That lady with the white hair. Was that really Destiny Go?"
"As she lives and breathes." Jacob gladly answered.
The two girls started to giggle as they bounced up and down. "Do-Do you think she'll give us her autograph?" The blonde asked.
"I'm sure she would, but give her some time to cool off. She's feeling a bit tense." He told them.
The two girls nodded and told Jacob they would return later. Kim was informed on how Destiny had quickly become a symbol to women not just wanting to join the force, but women everywhere. He told her how Betty had painted her as the poster child for the new generation, though Destiny herself doesn't see it that way. He also mentioned that Destiny while likes that she inspires others, makes sure that those who want to join the force are properly informed of the happening's and expectations of the self-defense force. She'd hate it if someone joined and rushed to their death because of her.
Minutes passed and Destiny and Shego returned, both seemed to have cooled down from earlier. The waiter shortly came up after they did.
"How are you all set to order?" He asked.
The group nodded and the waiter took out his pen and paper as he prepared to write it down.
"I'll have the bacon cheeseburger with a side order of fries." Shego said.
"Make that two." Jacob added on.
"A steak for me please." Kim said. "Well done." She quickly added on.
"Um, I'll take the supreme nachos." Ron said. Rufus showed his approval as he bounced around in Ron's pants pocket.
"How about you miss?" The waiter asked Destiny.
"I'll have…"
"A salad." Shego said.
Destiny looked up from her menu and craned her eyebrow at Shego.
"You heard me. You're getting a salad. You've been eating nothing but junk food lately, you need to eat healthy once in a while. Also I got a look at your belly this morning. It looks like you have been chowing down on more than just the five food groups."
"Are you calling me fat?" Destiny asked.
"You're damn right I am." Shego nodded. "Now order the damn salad and eat."
Destiny looked at her stomach. It looked fine to her this morning, but she looked to Jacob for some assistance on the matter. He held his hands up signifying he was sitting this one out. If he sided with Shego, Destiny would obviously be angry with him. However if he sided with Destiny then Shego would never let him hear the end of it. Once it was clear that Jacob didn't want to be a part of this one, she opted for the salad.
Time passed and they all shared some laughs as they each took turns sharing tales of comedic events. Most were about the days when Destiny and Shego were kids, like how Shego came up with her nickname. Needless to say Shego had to lower her head in embarrassment as Destiny revealed that Shego used to be her superhero name when they would play pretend. Jacob threw in a few stories about the time he snuck into a bull's pen when he visited his uncle in Dallas.
Their next laugh came when Ron deciding to impress Yori with his karate skills. Holding in their laughter was the hardest thing for them to do as Ron was really trying to sell that he knew martial arts. Yori watched of course saying nothing as she often did. They even signed autographs and took pictures with the two fan girls from earlier.
Hours later, 6:42 p.m.
After they had eaten they went sight-seeing, showing Kim and Ron the best San Francisco had to offer. They even were able to catch a few movies that they had wanted to see. However it was time for them to head to their true destination. Shego and Kim stopped at the local flower shop and picked up some roses. Ron had decided he was going to stick with Jacob, Destiny and Yori. So it was decided they rendezvous in the next ten minutes.
Kim looked over to see Shego was obviously focused on something other than driving. She was more talkative on the drive towards the flower shop. Kim guessed it had something to do with their destination, which in turn had something to do with her parents.
Five minutes passed and Shego made a turn onto a deserted street. Kim looked back to see if any other cars were going to make the same turn but none did.
"This place is like a ghost town." Kim said as she looked around at the vines that crept up the sides of buildings and closed down stores.
"That's because it is a ghost town." Shego answered.
Shego made a left turn onto another street and came to a stop when they approached a fence with barbed wire wrapped around its top. Shego got out of the car and walked over towards the lock. She reached in her pocket for the keys to the lock, but groaned when she realized that Destiny had the key to the lock.
She held up her left hand and ignited with energy. She blasted the lock off the gate with a smirk and opened the gate. Returning to the car she drove up the street. Kim was going to ask where they were going that required a locked gate and a barbed wire fence, but her answer came into view.
They were driving onto a suspension bridge. The bridge itself had rust on some of the cables, the end result of the lack of maintenance. The pavement and sidewalks had cracks in them as grass pushed upward. The foliage attempting to claim the bridge as its own. There were even some abandoned vehicles on the bridge as well, the way the cars were abandoned seemed like their owners were in a rush to get away from something. Shego slowed to a stop when they reached a part of the bridge that had a huge gap in it, as if something had torn right through it.
"Welcome to the once proud Go City Suspension Bridge princess." Shego said.
"Go City Suspension Bridge? Then this is?"
"Go City." Shego responded and as they looked at the ruined city from the bridge.
As Shego stared her hometown the memories of that night came rushing back. The sounds of the bridge groaning as the cables snapped, the sounds of burning vehicles and people screaming, and the roar of the beast that started it all. What Shego would not forget is when she was eye to eye with it, with Godzilla.
She sat on the hood of the car of the car and sighed. "It's tough you know. Living with the constant reminder that your parents are gone. That I'll never hear them scold me or praise me. No "I'm proud of you". Nothing."
Kim sat down on the hood next to Shego. "I could only imagine. I wouldn't know how to feel honestly." Kim said as she looked at Shego. The older woman still gazing at the city.
"Sadness, some form of guilt, despair, anger, rage." Shego responded. "I hope you never have to feel those emotions that come with losing someone you care about."
"Are those the only things?" Kim asked.
Shego looked to Kim. "For a while yeah. After a while you start to return to who you were, but the pain still remains. Then there are those who can't bounce back from the shock. It's because you don't want to forget. You feel like if you forget, then you're dishonoring your loved ones in some way."
"Is that why Bonnie singled me out? Did I offend her somehow?" Kim asked.
"Bonnie fucks with you because you remind her of what she's lost. You remind her of how she used to be."
Kim looked up to see Sea Gulls flying overhead. Wind blew by, making the bridge sway a bit, the sound of groaning metal filling their ears.
"She'll come around. Just don't tell her I said that, she'd probably shoot me." Shego joked. "When I think about it, you kind of remind me of a younger version of myself."
"I do?"
"Yeah a carefree, naïve, haven't got a clue me." Shego said with a smirk.
"You're so modest." Kim said with a sarcastic tone, and smiled afterwards. "Have you ever thought about what you'd do once it was over?"
"I don't know." Shego said with a shrug. "Assuming I live, I'd probably live somewhere I can start over."
"Assuming? You're not planning to do something crazy are you?" Kim asked Shego.
Shego thought back to her earlier conversation about her plan to kill Godzilla. "Just whatever it takes to kill that son of a bitch." Shego said clenching her fists.
"You don't have to throw your life away to make your parents proud." Kim told her.
Shego looked at the red head. "You sound like Destiny."
"All I'm saying is don't think too much about the past, or the here and now. Think about the future. If you died, think of how that would affect your siblings. You are all they have left. You rely on each other to help the other to their feet, when they fall." Kim said.
Shego looked down for a second before glancing at the orange sky set by the setting sun. Somewhere deep down she knew Kim was right. She knew that killing Godzilla was a priority, but protecting her family was her main objective.
"Just promise that you will remember what's truly important." Kim said as she placed her hand on top of Shego's. "I'd hate to see anything bad happen to you."
Shego looked Kim in her eyes to see that the red head's words were sincere. Shego offered Kim a small smile. "I promise."
Minutes later Destiny and the others pulled up behind Shego. The first thing she noticed was how close the two women were sitting, the second thing she noticed was that Kim's head was rested on Shego's shoulder as they both seemed to be staring ahead, fingers intertwined. Destiny smiled realizing Bonnie wasn't the only one her younger sibling liked.
Kim and Shego turned looking behind them, when they heard the sounds of car doors closing.
"What took you so long?" Shego asked.
"Stuck in traffic." Destiny answered. "Hope we didn't interrupt anything." She said with a grin.
"Just my piece of mind." Shego mumbled.
"What was that?"
"Nothing dear sister whom I love with all my heart." Shego said trying to sound like an innocent young girl.
"Asshole." Destiny said.
Jacob, Ron and Yori walked up and Jacob pulled out several cans of Miller Light.
"What happened to trying to stay sober?" Shego asked as she looked at Destiny.
"I've had a change of heart. There's nothing wrong with wanting to have a little fun." The older sibling said.
Jacob passed out the beers and handed one to Kim and Ron. They looked at each other unsure if they wanted to truly drink it.
Kim shrugged. "One beer couldn't hurt right?"
"Right." Ron added.
Shego handed everybody a rose and they tossed them over the edge, watching as the roses slowly fell to the water below and floated with the current. They all opened the cans of beer and Shego held her can up.
"To mankind." She said.
"To peace." Kim added on.
"I'll drink to that." Jacob said.
They each all toasted and drunk from the cans. Today was going to mark a new day for all of them. As long as they worked together then they were certain they could preserve humanity's place on Earth. Destiny stepped away from the group as her phone rang. She looked to see the call was coming from Betty herself.
"Hello." She said.
"Destiny are the others near you?" Betty asked.
"Yes." Destiny simply answered.
"Good put me on speaker."
"Hey guys the Director wants to talk to us." Destiny said as she returned to the group.
"Please don't be about a kaiju, please don't be a kaiju." Ron pleaded.
"There's going to be a kaiju attack." Betty informed them.
"Awwww man!" Ron groaned.
"Where?" Jacob asked.
"Kyoto, Japan." Betty answered. "It's been identified as the category four kaiju, Anguirus."
Yori's eyes widened in fear. Her birth nation was once more under attack. Her fearful expression soon turned to anger as her brow furrowed and she crushed the can of beer in her tight grip.
Well guys that's the end of this chapter, and it was pretty lengthy. But overall for a human driven chapter it went pretty well, better than I expected in some areas like with Destiny and Shego's argument. I was hoping to convey that both siblings prefer to handle their parents deaths differently and have developed their own coping mechanisms. Now we get a kaiju and hopefully a fan favorite to some of you readers out there for the next chapter, but of Yori's reaction?
