Thanks a lot to Brainstorm Sorcerer for his help with this idea.

This is the second last proper chapter of the story, and the next one shall come in August on the day 'Heroes from Infinite Earths' was finished last year, as that shall finish 'Heroes' properly at long last.

Its gonna be a hard when this series ends, as it has been part of my life for four years now.

This one takes place during 'Heroes from Infinite Earths'.

Anyways, enjoy.

Guest: I think the similarities are there, yes.

Chapter 75- Faith rewarded

Steve felt himself speeding through everything, with stars wheeling overhead, every day being as long as an entire age of the world.

The last thing he remembered before this had started was trying to fight the Anti-Monitor and stop him by any means possible, but even with the power of the Green Lantern and Blue Lantern Rings combined, he had been defeated and killed by the great and evil being of power.

No one had been able to stand against him so far, and Steve wondered what could do it now.

Suddenly, he felt a lot of brightness on his face, and looked ahead to see a very bright burning fire that was radiating that light.

To his surprise, he did not feel even the slightest of heat from this fire. Curiosity getting the better of him, Steve reached out with his hand, touching the fire. He didn't feel anything at all. He pulled his hand back, finding that there were no burn marks at all.

"Steven."

Steve looked around, trying to find the source of the voice that seemed to be coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

"Steven."

The voice continued calling out his name, as Steve turned back to the fire, realizing this was where the voice was coming from.

"Here I am."

As he looked at the fire, he asked. "Who are you?"

The fire enlarged for a second.

"I am that I am!"

Steve's eyes widened, as he remembered the Tale of Moses, while the voice continued to speak.

"I am the God you worship. I am the one they call Eru Ilúvatar in Arda, Brahman in Hinduism, and many other names in many worlds and many religions."

"Oh Lord", Steve, always a man of faith, whispered as he joined his hands reverently in a praying gesture, since this was his God. And he felt blessed to witness Him in front of his eyes. "What do you want with me, Lord?"

"I have seen the oppression of all my people in this Multiverse by great evil, the Anti-Monitor being the greatest of that evil. I have heard the cries of the people before they were wiped out. And so, I have come to deliver them all out of this oppression, and bring them to a good new Multiverse, a Multiverse flowing with hope and righteousness."

As Steve listened, the voice said. "And so, unto the Anti-Monitor, you shall be one of those I shall send."

"What am I to do?" Steve asked, as he remembered he had died last time when he had gone up against the Anti-Monitor, and he was not sure who was still alive after that thing's latest attack.

"I shall teach you what you have to do."

"How are we supposed to fight this Anti-Monitor after everything he has already done, and all the worlds he has consumed?" Steve asked out of curiosity, as he wasn't sure how he or the remaining people would be able to do it, regardless of his faith.

The fire enlarged again and the voice seemed to increase in volume.

"Who made man's mouth? Who made the deaf, the dumb, the mute, the seeing or the blind? Did not I?"

The force seemed to blow Steve back while the fire receded again. "Now, go!"

And then, a bright light seemed to wrap around Steve, and he felt comforted.

"Oh Steven, I shall be with you when go to face the Anti-Monitor again. All of life shall be with you. I shall reach out my hand, and smite the Anti-Monitor with all of my wonders."

The bright light coalesced in front of Steve, while another light came, this one not as bright, but bright enough.

"Take the Life Entity, the representation of all Life, within you, Steven. With it, you shall do my wonders."

The light went into Steve, as he felt it all within him, feeling his power rise, feeling all of Life inside of him now, all the voices full of hope, compassion and love, while a Ring appeared on his finger, different from the Green and Blue ones he had before, this one being White in color, while his suit turned the same shade as well, since this was the form he had to be in to represent all of Life.

The fire faded, the voice telling Steve. "I have been with you, Steven. And I shall continue to be with you, Steven."

A bright smile crossed the face of Steve Rogers, as he now knew what he had to do. Joining his hands, he sent a silent prayer of reverence and respect to Supreme Being, the One Above All, the one whose Presence was everywhere.

"Thank you, oh Lord."

His faith had been rewarded at last.

And this is how Steve became the White Lantern before his return in the story. The scene is based on 'The Burning Bush' scene from 'The Prince of Egypt'.

Since Steve is Christian, he does not see Lord Vishnu/Lord Krishna here, he sees a burning bright light or fire, while the voice of God is heard by him.

The next chapter is the final one, and it shall come on the day it was promised. That is going to be a hard and sad day.

Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter, the last one.
