Shark Week Part Two

Summery: Tony takes the boys deep-sea fishing and things get…interesting.

Special thanks to all who reviewed! You guys keep writers like me writing ^^ Seriously, though, I'm starting to think people like humor more than angst.

And to the person who asked where Pepper, Natasha and Thor was…It's a guys weekend and Thor is permanently on Asgard for my stories because I'm not sure if I could do justice to the Shakespearian-ness.

You guys are awesome! On to the story!

Steve broke the surface just in time to catch sight of a giant fin sliding under the water. Off to the side Tony's fishing boat was sinking fast a hug hole in the side.

"Tony! Clint!"

"Steve?" Bruce's voice called from behind him. Steve turned and caught a glimpse of the man's head bobbing up and down in the waves. They swam to meet one another in the rocking waves. After checking to see if Banner was okay Steve started to scan the ocean for their missing teammates.

"Clint!"

"There's Tony!" Bruce suddenly yelled and pointed towards the wreck. Steve turned to look and spotted Stark crawling on what was left of his boat.

"Tony!" Steve shouted and swam towards the boat with Bruce. Three found; one still missing with a gigantic sea monster swimming around somewhere below.

Stark glanced back at them as they made it to the quickly sinking boat. The billionaire flashed a grin back at them as he continued to look for something. "I've got something that'll help."

"Did you see what killed your boat?" Bruce asked nervously, glancing down in the water they were treading.

"I think it was a whale." Tony responded, pulling something free just as the boat slipped under water completely.

Steve shook his head. "I don't think that was a whale."

Tony threw something at the water and it suddenly blew up into an obnoxious yellow life raft.

"Wait, you saw it?" Tony asked as they climbed into the floatation device. "And where is Clint?"

"Haven't seen him." Bruce added, worriedly searching the waves for their friend.

Steve nodded in agreement and thought back to the creature he saw. It was far too big to be a normal sea animal. He hoped Clint hadn't become the creature's lunch.

"Clint!" Steve called out over the water again. "Clint – "

Something bumped into the bottom of the life raft and startled Steve along with the others.

"Okay," Tony whispered to his friends, arms hovering out in front of him in case he needed to jump back into the water. "This is the last floaty thing we have – so I'd really rather whatever that is stop doing that."

Bruce nodded enthusiastically.

"Boo." Clint's voice sounded just next to them. Steve peered over to see him floating just by the edge, wet hair plastered to his forehead. Apparently Clint had lost Bruce's hat. "A little help?" He added, tossing five water bottles into the raft before he climbed up into the floatation device.

"Clint!" Steve and Bruce sounded at the same time. Bruce moved to look the archer over for any injuries but was waved off by Clint.

"I'm fine. When I realized we were losing the boat I thought someone should grab what we needed. I would have grabbed more, but I caught a glimpse of that shark and decided to retreat."

"It was a shark?" Steve asked, slack jawed at Clint's assessment.

The archer shrugged. "Yeah, I mean, it was really big, but it looked like a shark."

"Like, how big?" Tony asked as he looked down into the water over the edge of the raft nervously.

Clint considered the question before he answered. "Maybe fifty-five or sixty feet long?"

This time Bruce frowned. "You're kidding."

"Nope." Clint shook his head. "As I said, it was big."

Bruce shook his head. "It sounds like you're describing something that's impossible. The only shark that's ever been that big is extinct. Well, only shark we know of. A lot of the ocean hasn't been explored."

"Huh," Clint shrugged. "Well, that's what I saw, didn't anyone else see it? I mean it was huge." Clint held out his hands to emphasis his point.

"Yeah," Steve sighed dramatically, leaning back against the edge of the life raft. "I did. It's that big." He added and glanced at Bruce. "Why would it have attacked the boat?"

Bruce shrugged. "Most shark attacks are based off of curiosity. They don't have hands so they figure things out with their teeth. Which doesn't always turn out so well for the object in question." Bruce nodded to where the boat used to be. "Of course it also could have been an attack purely based on territory. Tony's boat is bigger than any other creature out here." He glanced at Tony. "Tell me you managed to contact JARVIS to send your suit here?"

Tony ignored Bruce for the moment and looked at Clint with a sly smile. "Hear that, Clint? Bruce thinks my boat is bigger than anything else out here."

"Big enough to be attacked by a sixty foot shark that's not even supposed to be alive," Clint deadpanned. "Congratulations, sincerely. So I'm just taking a shot in the dark here, but, your suit isn't coming, is it?"

Tony's shoulders slumped a bit. "I may have been responding to a provocative Email from Pepper, but I was this close to giving JARVIS the order."

Clint snickered. "By 'provocative' do you mean sexy or annoying?"

Tony shrugged. "Why limit the meaning to one definition?"

"How sweet." Clint deadpanned. "So, there's no suit coming to save us." He sighed, "Looks like we're on our own."

"A ship might come by." Bruce offered as he eyed the water with distrust. "Eventually."

Steve shook his head. "Clint's right, we don't want to count on that happening. We don't have much drinking water and if we don't do anything we might get sucked into a current and that could be bad."

Tony frowned. "So what do you expect us to do? Swim back to the mainland?"

Clint sighed and started to move around the small floatation device. He grabbed a rope that was woven through holes around the lip of the raft and un-looped it through all but three of the hooks on one side of the raft.

"Not all at the same time." Clint told Tony and handed one of the ends of the rope to Steve. "Shall we?"

Steve sighed but nodded. Each with an end of the rope looped around their waists they dove into the water.

"Wait!" Tony called after them but they were under at the time. "Why is no one else worried about the huge shark still swimming around out there?" He asked Bruce who shrugged in response.

"It hasn't attacked us yet," Banner pointed out as Clint and Steve surfaced and started to tug the little raft along.

Tony perked up as he relaxed against the side of the raft. "Maybe it got a splitter attacking a boat?"

Bruce shook his head. "Let's hope so. I personally don't want to see that thing ever again."

Tony shrugged and glanced at his comrade. "Well, technically we didn't see anything."

Bruce nodded. "And I'd like to keep it that way."

An hour later and Steve and Clint were still in the water. They had taken a few breaks at Bruce's insistence so they could rest and rehydrate. The breaks weren't long and they tried to avoid taking them at the same time. Clint and Steve also decided that Bruce and Tony should stay in the raft. Tony because of his arch reactor, despite his arguments that it was 'probably' rust proof and Bruce because they didn't want to find out if Hulk could swim or not if his pulse got too fast.

Bruce was bored, but that was okay. What wasn't okay was a bored Tony. He wouldn't stop talking and it was driving Bruce crazy.

"Anyway, so there I was in Monte Carlo and – " Something bumped the boat but Tony continued as if nothing had happened. " –Pepper gives me her flu. It was probably as bad as whatever alien flu those Purple-Goo creatures gave Clint." Another bump, this time more noticeable and Tony paused. "What was that?"

"Tony." Bruce sat up, eyes on the water as he moved to where the ropes trailed after Clint and Steve. "We need to get them back in."

"Steve! Clint!" Tony bellowed out to their friends. Neither of them seemed to realize the danger, or hear the cries of their teammates in the raft.

"Shit," Tony yelped suddenly as a dark shadow passed under them.

Ha, I must really miss mean cliffies. In my defense I wanted to get this out to you guys! Reviews and Reviewers are loved!
