Jayfeather was chewing on a mole when he heard screeching and yowling nearing the camp. He heard one distinct yowl that was Moonpaw yelling, "Help!" Jayfeather dashed out of camp running to where he heard Moonpaw. He smelled blood and he smelled Moonpaw strongly so he knew that he must have been getting close. He burst into a clearing where he heard Moonpaw whimpering. "Moonpaw!" He yelped. "Jayfeather! Thank Starclan you're here!" she gasped. He sniffed her for any injuries. He found a long deep gash through her stomach. "What happened?" he asked as he went rummaging the clearing for any cobwebs. "Lionblaze, and I were hunting along the Shadowclan border. A Shadowclan came up to us and accused us of hunting on their territory even though we weren't. Lionblaze got in a huge argument and they started fighting. I didn't really know what to do and a cat named Ratscar caused this wound. Lionblaze told me to run back to camp but I fell and I can't get up. We have to go back for him!" She explained through gritted teeth. Jayfeather gently hoisted her onto his back, which was hard work for a medicine cat. "Wait! No! Put me down! Lionblaze needs help!" she pleaded. "He'll be fine." Jayfeather grunted. "Just because you guys have been at each other's throats ever since that fight a moon ago doesn't mean you can't help him! He is your brother for Starclan's sake!" she protested. Jayfeather rolled his eyes and picked up his pace for she was starting to bleed all over his back. He burst into the camp and he was now covered in Moonpaw's blood. Sometime on their journey to camp she went unconscious. He laid her down in the middle of camp. And held his paws over her bloody gash. "Brightheart!" He yowled for the one-eyed she-cat. Brightheart came running out of the warrior's den. "Oh my-" she started to say. "No time for oohing and aweing! Get some cobwebs and marigold quickly!" He ordered. She nodded and dashed into his den. Soon she came back with a bundle of cobwebs with some marigold. He wrapped her wound up and the bleeding stopped. Ferncloud stumbled out of the warriors den and started to mumble, "What's with all the –" Then her eyes widened and she sprinted to where Moonpaw lay. "My kit!" She shrieked. "No! I can't lose her too I lost Amberkit and my son at birth. Not her, not her!" she yowled. "I think she is going to make it we'll just have to wait. I have done everything I can." Jayfeather assured the scared she-cat. She nodded and lay down next to her daughter that was still unconscious. Soon after, Lionblaze came charging through the camp entrance. He was covered in blood but Jayfeather knew it didn't belong to him. A large portion of the clan gathered around Lionblaze, showering him with questions like "What happened? Did you beat them? Are you hurt? What happened to Moonpaw?" Lionblaze ignored all the questions and just went up to Firestar's den. Firestar and him emerged soon after and, with his head hung low, Lionblaze left the leader. "What happened?" Jayfeather asked him. Lionblaze just glared at him. Jayfeather rolled his eyes and returned to Moonpaw who they moved to his den. He looked at the small apprentice her wound making her look so vulnerable. Suddenly her eyes flickered open. They were glazed over though and she stood up without showing any signs of pain. "Um Moonpaw you need to rest you don't want to move around to much or you will open up your wound. She just stared at him her eyes hazy as if she weren't even conscious. "Hello jay's wing." She greeted. "Halfmoon?" He asked. "Correct." She mewed. "Why are you here?" He questioned. "Why don't you want to see me?" She asked. "Of coarse I do my sweet. But why have you come?" he meowed. "To see you of coarse." She explained. "You can see me from Star clan." He told her. "I do not reside in your Starclan." She corrected. "I love you but you must go." Jayfeather told her calmly. Her face filled with hurt. "Fine" she whispered. She walked back over to the nest and closed her eyes. Then her eyes opened again. "Jayfeather?" she asked. "Halfmoon I thought I told you to g—" he started. "What? I am Moonpaw remember." She snorted. "Yeah I know that my mistake." He lied. She started to try to get up but Jayfeather stopped her. "You need to rest. You don't want to start bleeding again." He explained. "Okay but you better go clean yourself up you look like a badger that just rolled in it's own dung." She giggled. Jayfeather snorted, "Why thank you I think this is my new style." He left her in his den and trotted out of camp. He went to the lake and gazed into the water. There he saw a jay's feather floating on top of the reflection of the half moon. It was an omen but Jayfeather didn't think it came from Starclan. He washed himself off and returned to camp. He entered his den where he found Moonpaw playing with a ball of moss. "Trying to find something to do?" Jayfeather asked. "Yes it's pretty boring in here. I don't know how you live in here." She muttered. "Well I like it better than the crowded warrior's den. I gave a large den all to myself." He pointed out to her. She nodded the mewed, "Jayfeather I forgot to tell you something." "What?" he asked. "Thank you for saving my life today." She thanked. "Anytime. Although I do hope that I don't have to do it often." He replied.
