Jayfeather was sharing tongues with Halfmoon in the misty clearing Jayfeather always finds her in. "I love you so much." Jayfeather said in between a lick. Halfmoon purred. Suddenly her eyes widened in shock and she gasped. As she did this Jayfeather found himself beside the thunderpath. Moonspirit was standing on the other side stalking a mouse. Jayfeather saw Molefoot creeping up behind her. He jumped on top of her pinning her to the ground. "You killed them. You just let them die!" He screeched. Her eyes were wide with horror. "It was an accident!" She defended. "Like this?" Molefoot said darkly as he raked his claws down her belly. She wailed in pain. "JAYFEATHER! HELP ME!" she yowled. Jayfeather dashed across the thunderpath and launched himself at Molefoot. But his paws never left the ground. Jayfeather realized this was a vision. The gashes gushed blood leaving a large puddle. "Where is your precious Jayfeather when you need him?" Molefoot hissed. Moonspirit just stared up at him with sadness. "This would never of happened if you chose me!" Molefoot shrieked as he raked his claws along her back. Moonspirit's eyes widened until they were bulging. Blood trickled out of her mouth. Her once magnificent green eyes began to grow cloudy and dim. A soft puff of air escaped her mouth and her flank stopped moving. "No!" Jayfeather wailed. Molefoot gazed down at her with hatred. He sprinted off toward camp leaving Moonspirit's bloody carcass in the now stained red grass. Jayfeather walked up to her and touched his nose to hers. He noticed a single tear trickling down her face. He whispered in her ear, "I will protect and love you forever. I will make sure this won't happen." With that the vision dissolved and he found himself in his nest with Moonspirit's warm body pressed up against him. She turned toward him and whispered, "Want to come on a walk with me?" Jayfeather nodded. They both stood up and exited the camp. "I want to tell you something important." She mewed. "Tell me." Jayfeather said. She stopped walking and motioned for him to stop too. "What?" Jayfeather questioned. "I am expecting kits!" She said cheerily. Jayfeather gasped. "Really?!" Jayfeather exclaimed. She nodded. Happiness unfurled Jayfeather. He was having Moonspirit's kits! "I'm going to be a father." He mumbled in disbelief. "And a great one at that." She purred. "You must move into the nursery immediately! You have to rest, no more warrior duties!" Jayfeather ordered. "Relax Jayfeather!" She mewed with laughter. Jayfeather sighed and said, "I just want you to be safe and healthy. You remember what happened to your brother and Amberkit." Sadness filled Moonspirit's face when Jayfeather mentioned her dead siblings. "I won't let it happen. After what my mother and I went through I never want it to happen again." Moonspirit mewed. "of course you won't let it happen you will be an amazing mother." Jayfeather assured. "There is just one thing I am not too excited about." Moonspirit said. Jayfeather looked at her expectantly. "Since Lilytail is in the nursery that means that Molefoot is going to be there a lot." She explained. "Well Cinderheart is in there expecting kits with Lionblaze so you can ignore Molefoot and hang out with Cinderheart." Jayfeather said. He had just found out that his brother was having kits. She nodded and mewed, "I am fond of Cinderheart." "Thunderclan is going to be completely invaded by kits. Three litters!" Jayfeather meowed. "But ours will be the best." Moonspirit purred. Jayfeather nodded in agreement and tilted his head up to the sky. Although he couldn't see or hear Starclan he knew they could. "It was meant to be." He mewed.
