Jayfeather squeezed into the nursery with his kit hanging from his jaws, his belly fur brushing the ground. "Jayfeather!" Moonspirit gasped. Jayfeather rushed up to her; flicking his tail down her flank lovingly. "I thought you were dead." Moonspirit mewed in astonishment. "Well I'm here now." Jayfeather answered quickly. Moonspirit narrowed her eyes with suspicion. Her face soon softened with love as he laid the young kit by her stomach with the other three kits. Jayfeather leaned down and inspected each of his kits carefully, looking for anything wrong. "I have many questions, but I am glad you are here and I am also happy that we have our kit back." Moonspirit told him. Jayfeather licked her cheek in happiness. "Have you come up with names yet?" Jayfeather asked. Moonspirit shook her head. "Let's name that one, Featherkit." Moonspirit suggested, pointing to a white she kit with gray flecks. Jayfeather nodded his head in agreement. "I like the name Ravenkit." Jayfeather said. "Ravenkit fits perfectly." Moonspirit said. "How about Sunkit and Rainkit?" Moonspirit asked. Jayfeather nodded in agreement then asked, "Please describe the kits to me." "Featherkit is a white she cat with gray flecks. Ravenkit is a dark gray tom with black stripes. Sunkit is a flame colored she cat with a sand colored chest. Rainkit is a gray tom with a white chest and paws." Moonspirit described. "They sound beautiful." Jayfeather remarked. "They are." Ferncloud interrupted as she strolled into the nursery. "Hello Ferncloud." Jayfeather welcomed. "Have you named them?" Ferncloud asked as she looked at the kits. Moonspirit nodded and pointed out each kit and their names to Ferncloud. "I just wanted to say congratulations to the two of you. I promise I will visit often but I promised Dustpelt I'd go hunting with him." Ferncloud explained. Moonspirit nodded curtly and waved her tail in goodbye. Jayfeather curled around Moonspirit and their kits that were all snuggled in the nest. Moonspirit rested her head on his flank and she soon started to quietly snore. Jayfeather laid his head on his paws and closed his eyes. He drifted of into blackness, no longer feeling Moonspirit's warmth or his kits' soft sniffling. For once, Jayfeather felt truly happy and at peace.
