Sorry if the first chapter felt a little rushed.
This is the second time I made an origin chapter as the first chapter, and I would call myself 'a little below decent' at it.
If this one feels rushed as well, I apologize beforehand.
You may proceed reading.
Nine and a half minutes later...
This walk is not helping.
I've been walking around the district for a while, and I've been on edge ever since I walked out the door.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the Lower East Side so far. The sounds, the sights, the smells...well, some of them, all good!
But I can't enjoy any of that, because of what's going on with me.
Also, I feel different.
There's some kind of tingling feeling in my body, and I'm not talking about the one that was in my head.
There's also some kinda feeling in my back, but it's not a bad feeling.
It's okay, Palmer, you're a puzzle loving geek, you can figure out what's happening to you, right?
I left my Zenergy canister alone in my room which was hecka unstable, Eights probably touched it or something, she bit me when I tried to touch her, and now something's going on with my body.
Well, this might sound like a stretch, but I think the Zenergy messed with Eights' genetics.
Then, when she bit me, it must've messed with my genetics
So that must explain the sticking.
Anything that she can do, I can do now.
Wait a sec.
The genetically altered spider bite, the sticking with my hands, the stuff that came from my wrist.
'Do whatever a spider can'?
Am I turning into-
I was suddenly hit in the face with a newspaper making me stop walking.
I took it off my face, and I saw an article of two superheroes.
It was the two Spider-Men: the O.S. [Original Spider-Man], and the new one. Y'know, the one in black and red? Bio-electricity? Can go invisible?
I'm still a little unsure about all this.
This still feels a little...out there.
Is there really a possibility that I'm becoming a Spider-person myself?
There's no way.
...
...
...
...I mean, there's a chance.
But I wanna be absolutely sure first.
Should I test myself? I think I should test myself.
I looked around to make sure I wasn't being watched, and went into an alleyway.
When I was inside, I looked at one of the building walls.
I put my hand on it, and I could feel the adhesion.
I can't believe I'm doing this.
I put my other hand on the wall, and it stuck to it.
I took my other hand off the wall, I'm surprised it's not stuck this time, and I placed it up higher on the wall.
I got onto the wall, and kept going until I was climbing up the wall!
I really can't believe I'm doing this! I'm not falling either!
I made it to the top of the building.
I got onto the roof, and stood still surprised at what just happened.
...What else can I test?
How about the webs that came from my wrists?
I saw the Spider-Mans in a news clip. I have to do a specific thing to shoot out webbing. Is it this?
*Thwip!*
Yep, that was it. A web shot out of my wrist and went across the roof and landed on a chimney.
Hey, I even caught a wasp, look at that.
I know what you're thinking, and there is no way on Earth am I web swing from the rooftops.
If I break something, what the heck do I say to my family?
'Hey guys, I got spider powers and I jumped from a building's roof trying to web swing.'?
No thanks, bruda. I'm good.
Maybe when I'm more confident or something. Or at least until I get these powers under control.
Sorry, but I'm not jumping off this building.
Almost ten seconds later...
I jumped off the building.
I managed to swing once, but he ended up crashing into a dumpster on the other side of the street.
Luckily and somehow, no one saw that happen.
Aside from my head hurting, I feel fine.
But, I'm never trying that again until I'm better at it.
Holding my head, I looked around and just noticed that I'm a few feet from the Lower East Side.
How am I just noticing-
Ugh, it's that tingle in my head again.
I gotta know why that's happe- OH MY GOD!
I ducked back and barely escaped a car that came barreling towards me. It missed and went into the building behind me.
"Okay, that was too close." I said, getting up.
"You said it. You okay?" a new voice said.
I looked to see who was talking to me, and I again stood still surprised.
Please tell me I'm dreaming.
I'm face to face with the O.S.. The O.G. Spider-Man.
If I am dreaming, I will strangle whoever wakes me up.
"Y-Yeah." I finally answer.
"Good to hear." he said. I guess he was chasing some dude in a car.
Okay, the tingle's back. It's kinda starting to grow on me.
For some reason, Spider-Man suddenly looked alerted.
He then looked at me, a bit surprised.
He suddenly took my hand, and to my surprise, he brought me on top of the building we were standing in front of.
Did not expect that to happen.
I had to catch my breath when we landed because it happened so suddenly.
"I thought Miles and I were the only two..."
Who's Miles?
"You're like me." he said to me
So that's why I'm up here. I...don't know what to say.
I just shrugged my shoulders before saying, "I guess..."
"How long you've been like this, kid?"
"Uh, eleven minutes ago?" He looked surprised at my response.
I explained everything I could to Spider-Man. How I just moved here, my Zenergy canister, and my pet spider, Eights.
He was honestly surprised about my Zenergy and even complimented me saying, 'I'm smarter than I look'.
I know I get that a lot, but I could die happy right now knowing that Spider-Man told me that.
"...and when I checked to see if Eights was okay, she bit me. Now I've been sticking to stuff, which isn't that hard to control honestly, there's this tingle in me, I don't know how, but I can hear a voice-
There's just so much going on with me right now."
"I'm sure. Probably got a lot of questions, huh?"
I nodded.
"What's your name?"
"Aaron. Aaron Palmer."
"Well, Aaron, let me tell ya, everything'll be alright. Let me give you some advice."
Then Spider-Man gave me a couple of tips while we conversated.
How to handle my sticking, what my tingle was about. This was really speaking to me.
And, there's the tingle again. Well, O.S. called it a Spider Sense.
And from the look of it, Spider-Man must have it too, because we both looked off in the distance before hearing police sirens.
He then said, "Typical day in New York. (to Aaron)Listen, I gotta get back to business, but hey, maybe I'll come back to see you sometime and I can teach you more stuff."
I thought about it for a second before saying, "Y'know, I think I can get the gist of my other powers on my own. I mean, I got the sticking under control before we spoke, and I am a fast learner."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, if I could make a powerful substitute for electricity, there's a lot of other things I could probably do."
"Well, if you think so, I'll hold you to it. But, if there's any problems, try to find me, okay?"
He then stood at the edge of the building before looking back at me to say, "You're gonna do great, Aaron. Hope you're ready to be the next spider. Good luck, kid. See ya around."
He then jumped off and I watched him swing away.
I'm still shocked that I had a conversation with the O.S..
Never had I ever thought that this would happen in my life.
...
...
...He could've at least got me down from here, though.
Third Person P.O.V.
Later, back at the apartment...
Aaron came back through the front door and walked into his room.
"Hey Eights, I'm back." he said as he went to sit at his desk and turned on his computer.
But when he looked at Eights' case, he saw that she wasn't inside.
"Eights?" Aaron looked around for his pet spider when he suddenly felt something on his shoulder.
He looked and saw nothing, but a second after, Eights suddenly appeared on his shoulder.
"Here I am." Eights...said[?] when she appeared.
"I gotta get used to that." He thought out loud, referring to Eights somehow telepathically speaking to him.
"Where'd you come from, and how'd you do that?" he asked the arachnid, "And how'd you get out your case?"
"I was somehow able to go through it."
"Uh, I'm sorry?"
"Allow me to demonstrate."
Eights hopped off of Aaron's shoulder, crawled over to her case and to Aaron's surprise, she fazed through it.
"How on-?" Aaron stopped himself before looking at his empty Zenergy canister. He then remembered how his hand was sparking and covered in pixels earlier, as if it was glitching.
That pixelation must've been how Eights could go through the case's plastic. They must've made her intangible.
Aaron then thought before looking back at his hand. He thought before focusing his hand to start glitching like before.
He managed to do it on command, and when he tried, his hand went through the desk! It actually felt weird for him.
Eh, he was sure he'd get used to it.
He then decided to try something, using his glitchy abilities, he became invisible!
He made himself visible again and looked at himself with a smile.
Look, he had nothing on the Spider-Men, but he knew that they couldn't do anything like this!
He then thought back to when he touched the light switch in the bathroom. He had a feeling that he had something to do with it.
He pressed some keys on the keyboard, and the computer's camera scanned him from the top of his head, to where his chest met the abdomen.
The computer screen then showed an x-ray scan of Aaron's body. Again to his surprise and Eights', who crawled onto his shoulder to see the screen, the screen showed some neon green energy flowing throughout his body.
Looking closer, the energy was being spread throughout the body by the heart.
How on Earth?
Aaron thought about it before saying to Eights, "When you bit me, the bite must've sent some the Zenergy's power into my system. When I touched the light switch as I left, the electricity must've reacted to my new energy."
At least he knew what that tingle in his body was.
Maybe he could use his own kind of bio-electricity like that one Spider-Man.
Time to test that theory.
Aaron touched his computer, and on command, he absorbed all the energy from it.
Then, with a sparkling hand, he re-energized it.
But, when he turned it back on, the screen showed a terrible music video. Luckily, it was paused.
Aaron was just about to put the x-ray picture back on the screen manually, but he had an idea.
He held his hand out at the computer, before the screen changed back to the x-ray picture.
Aaron and Eights blinked at what happened.
Aaron looked up at the room's lights before smirking.
He snapped his fingers and the lights switched off, and he snapped his fingers again which switched them back on.
"I can control electrical objects too?" Aaron said.
We'll dub that Techno Control. Whenever Aaron uses it in the future, imagine the thing he's controlling it with a neon green aura.
Aaron then summed up everything he could do.
"So lets see, other than my regular spider powers, I can produce an electric power source, glitch himself invisible and/or intangible, and I can control anything that uses electrical energy.
...Pretty far from whatever a spider can do."
"Aaron, what's that on the screen?"
Aaron looked at what Eights was talking about and saw eight neon green spots on Aaron's back area in a two-by-four array.
What were those?
Maybe they had something to do with the feeling Aaron had on his back.
"Only one way to find out."
Aaron focused on the feeling in his back.
A second later, he was met with the feeling of eight somethings coming out of his back, and the sound of something piercing through the back of his shirt and jacket...and the chair.
He and Eights looked and saw eight neon green spider limbs had protracted from his back.
Well, now he knew what that feeling in his back was.
"Okay, definitely from whatever a spider can do." Aaron said, touching one of the arms/legs.
"Agreed." said Eights.
