Chapter 4 - Equipment and Pre-Preparation
They say a good chef is always prepared. In the world of Pokemon this is also true, but due to certain factors it can be challenging to even the most seasoned chefs. We need to take steps to increase our success rate as well as keep us safe from any mishaps that may arise. For starters, it is best to have an open counter space that is always clean and tidy. A handy sink and a standby area are a must. Some basic cooking equipment will include a cutting board, a sharp knife, a large saucepan or pot, a bowl, measuring spoons and cups, and a food processor or blender. Beyond that the rest depend on which Pokemon you will be preparing. All dishes are ranked from 1 to 5, with 1 being the simplest and 5 the most complex. The higher the rank the greater the difficulty. There are also levels of preparation such as Basic, Regular, and Special.
As an example we will start with something basic: Fried Soba Noodles with Chansey Egg
Ingredients:
Soba noodles, 2 cups (240 g)
Water, 2 ¾ cups
Soy sauce, 1 tablespoon (additional for seasoning)
Chansey Egg, 1
Dried Paras mushrooms, 2
Firm tofu, 1
Green onions, 2, finely chopped
Method:
Wash the noodles and drain in a colander, then cover with water. Leave for 1 minute , leaving the soba slightly wet.
Finely chop the Green onions.
Slice the Mushrooms.
Boil water in a large pot. Add the noodles and cook for 3-5 minutes until tender. Remove from heat and drain.
Soft boil the egg separately for 4 min.
In a bowl, combine the water, soy sauce, and Green onions.
Add the mushrooms and stir.
Cut the tofu into 1 cm cubes.
Put the tofu into a small bowl and coat with a few drops of soy sauce.
Once the noodles are cooled to taste, put them in a bowl and add the sauce, egg, and then the mushrooms and tofu. Mix well and enjoy!
Note: This dish is not as complex as it may look and can be made in no time at all
This dish only required a cutting board, knife, pot, colander, measuring cup and a stirring spoon, but some dishes require specialized equipment such as a Diamond-edge cutting saw to slice through the steel outer shell of a Magnemite. Other recipes require specialized tools such as a masher or a whipping machine to crush berries into juice. So much variation and so exciting. Let's keep cooking!
