SUPER SMASH BROS. Civil War
Chapter 8: Rebel or Register
{One Day Later}
Smash Tower Main Office
As a result of the new act going into effect, the Smashers were mandated to sign the act. This act caused tensions between those who supported the registration and those who opposed the registration. The Smashers continued their arguments up until the registration process began.
Mario met up with Fox as they passed by in a hallway. "So Fox, are you going to sign the act?" asked Mario.
"I'm still thinking. I don't know if I want to," said Fox.
"Think harder, my friend. Hopefully, you'll make the right choice," Mario spoke before quietly moving off.
Fox met up with Peach and Wolf who were talking.
"Don't feel bad, Fluffy. Maybe Rosie won't admit that she likes you," Peach tried to cheer him up.
"Don't call me 'Fluffy', okay. But she said she hates me and made it clear," he replied.
"I always say everyone deserves to be with someone," said Peach.
"Yeah, well I'm not everyone," said Wolf with a frustrated look. He spotted Fox and an idea came up. "Princess, there's something you should know. I know a certain someone who likes you."
Before Wolf could finish, Fox quickly interrupted. "Hello, Wolf… and lady," Fox said, a little scared.
"Oh, hello Fox!" said Peach as she hugged Fox. "Mr. Fluffy was about to tell me something."
"Nevermind, princess. I forgot," Wolf dismissed his idea.
"Oh, okay. Just make sure you two register. Especially you, Fox," Peach skipped away. Fox and Wolf stared at one another.
"What were you thinking, Wolf? Don't tell her how I feel!" Fox was on alert.
"You needed help. Look at it this way. You have more of a shot at marrying a princess than I do," confessed Wolf.
"Strange. You've never been this way before. I figured you to be a cold-hearted killer," Fox pondered.
"Well, I don't know about that. Maybe that's why I came here. To get away from the cold-hearted lifestyle," Wolf told him. "Anyway, are you applying for a job as a gimp?"
"No way," whispered Fox. "I'm not going to be a government-issued K-9. Can you believe that Falco is in favor of the act?"
"No. I cannot. I can't believe that it would be you breaking the law this time around. Finally growing up, I see. Let's hope Peach can forgive you," said Wolf with a light smirk.
"Yeah, whatever. Are you signing the registration?... Wait, why am I even asking?" Fox told him.
"I'm out of here. You never saw me, pup," Wolf idly hand waved his rival goodbye.
The anthro wolf went to see Rosalina who was quietly thinking about the registration. "Hey…" Wolf greeted.
"Oh… hello," the space princess greeted right back.
"So, you're planning to register to become a government maid?" he asked.
"I don't know. I know that things will go bad either way. I'm afraid and I don't want to be a part of this. I wish to go back to the Comet Observatory. And get away from all this," she said.
He almost reached out to hold her hand but stopped. "Don't be. All you have to do is not show up."
"Is that implying that you won't sign the agreement?" Rosalina pondered.
"Exactly! You won't get caught anyway for being absent. I'll help you out," Wolf smiled.
"I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try," smiled Rosalina back with a slight blush.
"Now let's book," said Wolf as they both left the tower.
Fox caught up with Peach after realizing Wolf was right. "Here's my chance to say it: now or never," Fox was nervous.
"Peach, I wanted to say something that I should have told you ever since we met," he said nervously.
"What is it, Fuzzy?" she asked.
"Peach, I…"
Just as Fox was about to finish the words, an announcement interrupted him. "Damn," he thought.
"Smash heroes, please report to the main hall to register!" the announcer stated.
"Let's go, Mr. Fuzzy. I know you'll make the right choice. So don't let me down ehaha," Peach said as she left him again.
"Darn it! I just want to tell her how I feel," he said to himself in anger and understood that Peach was never going to be with him. "I know what I must do," he balled his furred hand.
Fox immediately found Mario, who was conveniently near the main hall. "Mario, I made my choice. Now what's the plan?" said Fox.
"The plan is walking up to the desk to say no and leaving," said Mario.
"I mean the escape plan," Fox was confused.
"We improvise. They give us trouble, then we return the favor," Mario answered.
"I wish to help too, my friends. My sword-arm is yours," Ike interfered in the conservation, trying to whisper.
"Let's go," whispered Mario as they all walked to the desk.
Soon enough, the registration process was across the main office and the Smashers will make their choices to either register to work for the government or face serious consequences upon refusal.
