Happy readings,
Love Eh.
Chester felt his heart beat faster as the carriage pulled up towards the large pale grey mansion.
It had only been a few months since he was last here, but it already looked so different. Weed and unwanted flowers grew on the edge of the unattended lawn, the bluebells long dead of suffocation from them. The oak tree swing no longer used anymore, and hung lowly like a lonely clown after its performance. With the walls of the mansion cracking, and the window's glass stained with dirt, the mansion seemed to tumble towards its funeral, as its owner was.
"We're here." Chester whimpered, in a voice so small Ariel wasn't sure if it was meant for her to hear.
Slipping out of the carriage, Chester glided into the worn down mansion, with Ariel following behind. The mansion was not lit; the dim sunlight tumbled into the room and onto crimson rug that was coated with dust. All the furniture in the mansion was draped over with a piece of dusty white cloth, just like in Chester's tower. As they progressed deeper into the mansion, Chester and Ariel's footsteps echoed in the ghostly hallow mansion.
They walked in a choking silence, so silent that Ariel could even hear the air whisper and question their intention for intruding. Slowly, Ariel was falling behind.
Since she had left Hook, Ariel was able to do some walking alone and she remembered once more how painful it was for her to walk. The blades digging into her foot and carving words of hatred was not a thing she ever wanted to experience, but she had no choice.
Biting her lower lip hard, Ariel stumbled after Chester, who never looked back at her.
Finally Chester entered a room on the left of the corridor. The room was very empty, with a moldy smell of water. Chester waved Ariel to enter.
Inside the room was a large glass tub, filling with salty water. A light shown from underneath the tub, making it look like a large fish tank. Ariel looked at Chester questioningly.
"Climb into the tub."
Ariel did as told with some difficulty. The tub was fairly high, but thankfully there was a rusty old ladder next to it. The moment she felt the cool water touch her skin, the carving pain dimmed down. It was almost like taking an instant pain killer, the relief of it brought a little smile to Ariel's lips.
Feeling a little bit happier than she had been for a long time, she turned to Chester. What now?
Chester handed her the vial. "Drink it. You should feel the effects settle in pretty soon."
Obediently, Ariel took the vial. It was bright green liquid, and a faint earthy smell. Bringing the vial to her lips, she took a sip first, and then drowned the thing down. She felt the liquid slide down her throat, and into her stomach.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Ariel was just about to question what the liquid was for, when she finally felt it. Her legs seemed to suddenly be attracted to each other, and bonding instantly. It was almost like there were invisible needles, which sew the two legs together with the speed of lighting.
Ariel tumbled into the water with a huge splash. Her first instinct was to gasp for breath, but slowly, she realized that she didn't need to. With eyes wide open, she looked towards her legs – now a shimmering fish scaled tail!
The tail danced around in the water, as Ariel twisted and twirled. Oh, it's back! It's back!
Splashing her tail hard, she reached for the surface. Her wild red hair now sleek with water, she searched for her savior.
Chester! Her eyes gleamed.
Chester seemed to be pleased with the results. His dangerous smile hung on his lips, showing his pointy teeth. "Brilliant! This is fantastic!" He moved closer, and putting his face close to the glass, he studied her tail.
"I can't believe it…" He murmured. "It worked…"
Ariel grinned brightly. She couldn't believe how wonderful this felt. It was like a miracle come true. Now she could finally return to her father, her kingdom. And be far away from everything… from Hook…
Suddenly her neck felt very empty.
"Hey, fish, try singing." Chester broke her train of though.
Singing?
"Yes, you should be able to speak and sing now."
Nodding, Ariel took a deep breath. She opened her mouth, and tried to sing a song. Any song, really, but of course, the song that had to come out was:
"My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold."
Tears trickled down her cheek. Why, of all songs, did she sing this one? It should be a celebration, that her tail had returned, and she would finally be able to let go of what happened…
And yet?...
On the other hand, Chester did not care for why she was crying. Now that I know she can sing, I will finally be able to… He let the thought trail off.
Hurriedly, he silenced her with a glare. With a voice of an angry hissing cat, he ordered, "Count to twenty, then start singing again."
"Where are you going?" Her voice rung like spring chime bells.
Chester did not turn around as he walked out of the room. "I'm going to bring someone here to meet you."
OH NO! who is chester bringing?! We will have to wait and see...
Read and Review please? :)
