Kyle looked at me his face astonished he held me tightly in his arms,

"You were right Alice I believe you I should have listened to you" he said breathlessly. Other passengers were shocked and their conversations were all the same about the iceberg. Kyle began to walk towards the Captains quarters I followed him not wanting to be left behind or lose him. He jumped up the stairs agilely avoiding the mass of bewildered passengers coming the other way, they moved out of the way for me to get through sending me reassuring smiles.

"It will be fine my dear don't look so scared we will soon be sailing again" she said trying to comfort me as I went past yet this made me more scared. I was the only one who knew what would happen everyone else didn't. They genuinely believed that we would be sailing again and be in New York they didn't understand that they would never reach it. Even the ship wouldn't make it to port.

Kyle and I finally reached the captain's quarters and the officers were all in a hurry darting of to send messages yet the captain was standing like a statue frozen to the spot. The officers wouldn't let us part and as I grew more frustrated the more panicked the captain became.

"Captain, captain you have to get to people into the lifeboats and fill them with people please-" the officer cut me off

"Madam you let us handle this we know what to do you go and sit down in the lounge. We will come to you first to tell you and Mr. Parton what to do" he said calmly. Kyle grabbed my hand and led me away before an argument started. As soon as we were round the corner he turned to face me he looked stunned and confused.

"How much do you know Alice you knew it would hit the iceberg does it sink?" he asked. I nodded

"Did lots die?" he asked his voice getting hoarse he was scared

"Yes they do because there isn't enough lifeboats and they weren't full... lots die Kyle" I told him gravely

"Do I...no don't worry" he said

"Do you what tell me" I whispered holding his hand. He looked up his eyes meeting mine a sad look in them he paused before asking.

"Do I die Alice tell me if I do" he requested quietly, I closed my eyes as if it would make the question go away I couldn't tell him. I had to lie to him.

"I don't know Kyle, honestly" I replied, he then hugged me tightly and whispered into my ear

"You are the most precious thing to me Alice, I can never lose you. You won't lose me even if I die because I will always be in your heart." I kissed him quickly but strongly as it may be last time I could do it.

"I need to get something from the room I'll be back soon" I told him, he kissed me on the cheek before I began to walk away

"I'll be waiting right here" he called managing to smile I smiled back through my tears. As soon as I was inside I began to cry the tears relentless as every thought became prominent in my mind. He might die there was still the chance he could and now I might die too. But I mostly cried because if I lost him I lost everything I had and I had lied to him. Even I knew that he saw through my lie which was why I had to leave before he brought it up.

I reached our room and searched through the wardrobe where I had hidden my camera, it had all the photos I had taken with him all the videos we had together. I laughed at the memory of his reaction to the pictures and the video. I zipped the camera into the pocket of my jacket I had worn the day I had arrived on the ship.

I dried my eyes and then left the room hurrying back up to the top deck, to Kyle. But before I could get there I ran into Tom who looked very smug and happy to see me, which was a first.

"Alice just the person I was looking for" he said smoothly clamping his hand around my arm

"Come come I need to show you something" he sighed dragging me in a direction heading far away from Kyle.

"No I need to find Kyle" I protested trying to squirm out of Toms grasp and back the other way. He yanked me to his side and continued walking through a maze of corridors his grip never becoming loose. We arrived at a door and I gasped it was the store cupboard I had found myself in when I had arrived.

Tom opened the door and immediately I tried to run away but he shoved me in and I fell to the floor. I got up in an instant but he had already closed the door and was locking it.

"Tom why are you doing this I haven't done you any wrong" I pleaded

"You cannot be with my brother and since you have not taken my warning I decided this was the only way he would see sense" I heard the lock snap shut. The sound echoed around inside my head the metallic sound making me panic, I was trapped... trapped!

"Goodbye Alice" Tom said scathingly

"Tom no" I shouted but he could not hear me as he stalked away not even looking back. I sunk to the floor in denial this was it I couldn't save Kyle I was stuck in this stupid room because of his stupid controlling brother. Something broke inside of me and I just wept as if everything had ended everything had been take away from me and I would just be left to die.

I do not know how long I was there but I could work out how much time I had left as water began to creep through the door, making me panic as it began to rise. I jumped up and began to bang on the door crying out for help but I could see no one and only hear the tapping of hundreds of feet the floor above as they rushed towards the top deck in a flurry of fear.

"Help, somebody help me" my shouts broke into broken pleas "please... help me" my eyes began to water once more and I feebly hit the glass with my fist the sound of water filling the room disheartening me.

"Alice...Alice" I heard him call; I stopped moving as I heard the splashing of footsteps running around.

"Kyle...KYLE" I shouted looking out of the small glass window to see him standing knee deep in water drenched from head to toe. He saw me and ran as quick as ever to the door placing his hand on the glass where mine was.

"What happened?" he asked me

"Tom locked me up in here" I replied relieved to have him near me he gestured for me to move back, he then hit the window with a hammer the glass shattering inwards like an explosion of glitter. I moved forwards instantly as he fought to open the door in a rage. The window was very small and I could not have crawled out even if I had been the tiniest toddler. He looked up at me his green eyes glistening with tears his hair soaked through.

"I will get you out I will not leave you hear" he declared raising his voice in frustration. I met his worried gaze and he moved forwards carefully kissing me through the smashed glass his lips salty from the sea water.

"I will not give up on you Alice you will live" he murmured to me before running off shouting for help. In the space of this brief encounter the water had risen to my hips the freezing temperature making me shake violently goose bumps rising like a fever through my body.

The lights down the corridor began to flicker as if they were unsure of what was happening; they were fighting against mother nature's will. As thousands were above me and as Kyle was for me. Everyone on this damned ship was fighting for their lives and I was the only one who couldn't even try to protect my own life.

I felt the ships pain as it shuddered beneath me it vocally cried out in groans and creaks from the pressure on the metal. The most terrifying sound that would haunt my mind for a long time. It reverberated through my body and through the ship shaking my fears to the surface, I was to drown.

The water had risen nearly to my shoulders when Kyle returned I heard his voice in the distance from one of the staircases. He cried out in agony

"No no no no, let me get to her please please" his words slashed straight through my heart I felt his pain to. I then did the unthinkable but I had to, to save him.

"Go back Kyle you can't save me without killing yourself go" I said through a mass of tears.

"No Alice I can't leave you" he said defiantly the water was over my shoulders.

"I love you Kyle please save yourself... you can't save me" I shouted I looked to the staircase and saw him screaming out in frustration hitting the wall in agony his cries making me cry even more. The water pushing him back up the stairs as it began to engulf the inside of the ship.

The water was lapping at my chin now I could barely keep my head above the water and the last thing I said before plunging beneath the surface into its icy clasp was his name Kyle. The water was like a thousand sword points pressed tightly against my skin it hurt and I had no breath left. I breathed out the last bit of life I had left into its cold hands as it took me into its harsh embrace.
