Chapter 8- Aura
With trembling hands May wiped away the last of the tears that were streaking down her beautiful face. May sat motionless for a moment allowing herself to collect her thoughts and feelings before reaching down to recover the hat and ribbon that had fallen to the ground. With the hat in her hands again she placed it upon her head, cocking it to the right like Ash did. A renewed sense of hope washed over her as she looked down at the glittering ribbon, giving way to a small smile. Her thoughts were interrupted when a sudden painful groan from nearby filled her ears. Looking up she listened intently to make sure it wasn't just her mind playing tricks on her. "Hello…" she heard a weak voice say.
"Yes hello!" May responded crawling over to the cell bars. "Wh- Where am I?" the voice asked this time with more life in it. "I'm afraid I don't know." May said looking down at the ground. The voice let out a disappointed sigh "That's alright; I suppose it doesn't really even matter seeing as how we can't go anywhere." May liked the sound of the voice it was warm, calming, sweet.
There was a pause between the two until the voice spoke up again "My name is Guinevere Queen of Camelot, what is your name?" "My names May Maple," Guinevere gasped at the mention of her name "May, your courting that young man Ash Ketchum right?" May almost dropped the ribbon when she heard Ash's name. "Yes! Yes I am…wait, how'd you know that?" "Well after he conquered the Gauntlet and saved that young boy, he was granted the opportunity to meet my husband Arthur and myself. I must say he's a very courageous young man who also has a burning passion for you." May smiled widely at this as she looked at the glimmering ribbon.
"May are you still there?" Guinevere asked "Oh sorry," May said snapping back to reality "I was just thinking." May could hear Guinevere giggle quietly "I know what you were thinking about, and don't worry about it I'm sure Ash is fine, he's probably already on his way here with Lancelot." May looked up from the ribbon "Lancelot?" This time May could clearly here Guinevere giggle "Yes silly, Lancelot! The bravest and noblest of all Camelot's Knights, he'll keep Ash safe and free from any harm I promise."
"Come on Ash move your feet!" Lancelot screamed from the side of the road. Riley suddenly lurched forward with his sword directed at Ash's gut. Ash swung his sword down in a sweeping motion deflecting the blow away from him, the ringing sound of the two swords clashing together echoed loudly throughout the area.
Ash and Riley were both sweating and breathing heavily as they slowly circled around each other their swords drawn glinted in the intense sunlight. They had been fighting like this for hours, with neither one gaining the upper hand. "What are you waiting for Ash, an invitation!?" Lancelot screamed. Finally Ash decided to swing his sword down towards Riley. Side stepping the attack Riley intentionally threw Ash off balance and turned to attack from behind. With blinding speed Ash recovered from the mishap and whirled around just in time to block Riley's attack with the flat of his sword. In a side way's sweeping motion Ash tried striking Riley's side. Riley leapt back in time for the tip of Ash's blade to skim along the front of his blue blazer. Ash tried thrusting his blade even further only for it to be knocked away by Riley's. The two now squared off again slowly circling each other their eye's burning with determination.
"Either you've improved or I've just gotten worse." Riley said slowly circling around Ash. "Nah, you haven't gotten worse I've just gotten better." Ash replied with a grin. "Hey! If you two ladies are done flirting with each other maybe we could get back to the fight?" Lancelot said while watching from the sidelines. "Whoa, somebody's got jokes." Ash said looking over at Lancelot.
Riley took this opportunity to quickly charge in, thrusting his sword towards Ash's chest. Ash had just barely enough time to raise his sword and block the attack to the side of him. There sword's meet with a crash that echoed throughout the pasture. With Riley's sword now against the flat of Ash's now allowed Ash the opportunity to swing his sword down onto Riley's hand causing him to drop his sword. Riley grabbed his hand in pain as he stumbled backwards and fell to the ground. Running over to Riley Ash stood over him, placing his sword lightly against his chest "Do you yield?" he asked looking down at Riley.
Riley's face had a look of disbelief on it as he nodded his head in defeat. Sheathing his sword Ash extended his hand towards Riley, grabbing it Ash helped him back onto his feet. "Well Ash I'm impressed, after only a few days of training you've managed to overcome even me." Riley said giving him a congratulatory slap on the shoulder. Kneeling down Ash picked up Riley's sword and handed it to him "Thank you." Riley said returning the sword to its scabbard.
Ash turned back to Lancelot who was giving him a disapproving look "Come on Lancelot don't look so sour." Ash said with a laugh. Lancelot shook his head "You allowed yourself to get distracted, a mistake that could cost you your life." "Oh come on Lancelot don't be so hard on him he was still able to win wasn't he." Riley said putting a hand on Lancelot's shoulder, Lancelot angrily shrugged him off "Gather your things." He said "We should be arriving in Silver Town by nightfall."
Four days had passed since the three left Viridian City riding had been slow since the trails were all nearly up hill and covered with loose rocks and gravel, not to mention the days themselves where either blistering hot and the nights below zero. But these delays allowed Ash more time to practice with his sword in fact that's what he spent most of his time doing. Ash found enjoyment in this for two reasons one it was helping keep his mind from constantly worrying about May and two it gave him a way to release his frustrations. Although with all this training there was the small drawback of sore muscles and bruised body parts.
Now they lay just a day's ride from silver town and the base of Mount Silver were the hoped to find May and Queen Guinevere.
"Both of you be on your guard, for I fear Mordred will try and strike us before we reach Silver Town." Lancelot said while suspiciously eyeing the trees. "You know as much as I hate to admit, I have to give the guy credit, he'll do just about anything to steal my Aura." Ash said while riding beside Lancelot "Well of course, if he's to return to Camelot and defeat Arthur he'll need your Aura to do so." Ash looked at Lancelot with a blank expression "I thought he wanted to take over the world using my Aura?" Lancelot jeered at this remark "Why would Mordred want to take over your world? Nothing that it has can compare with the glory of Camelot, why do you think our people still chose to live there." Ash thought about this for a minute "Yea well, it's obvious that he's receiving help from Team Rocket so it does offer him something." "Only for the moment does, while he's at his weakest, does Team Rocket offer him something, for if he is to ever gain back his Aura I have no doubt he will cut off all ties with them and return to Camelot alone."
Ash was about to continue the conversation when Lancelot suddenly stopped and held up his hand "Why-?" "Quiet." Lancelot whispered surveying the area around him. The road was dead silent except for the occasional rustling of leaves. "Sire what is it?" Riley whispered "You don't hear that?" Lancelot asked in a hushed voice. A sudden yell came from the trees breaking the silence "Somebody, please help me!" A voice cried out from the forest. A woman suddenly appeared tripping out from the bushes she fell to the ground in front of Lancelot. She looked as if she had been beaten her clothing was torn and her face bruised. Ash began to get off his Tauros when Lancelot put out a hand and stopped "Wait," he said in a cold hearted tone "Lancelot she's in trouble she needs our help!" Ash angrily protested.
Suddenly two other men who were in pursuit of the woman jumped out from the forest, both of these men were armed with automatic rifles with bayonets at the end, on painted on their vest was the red letter R. "Come here darling I promise we won't hurt you." One of the men said in a sinister tone, while taking a handful of her hair. The second man grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her close to him and began kissing her neck. The lady tried slapping him away but to no effect. "I think it'd be wise to release the lady." Lancelot said in a Knightly voice. The men who hadn't even noticed Lancelot where taken by surprise as they looked up at the brave warrior. "This doesn't concern you three." Said the man who was grabbing the ladies wrist "So I suggest you screw off before we're forced to do something we might regret later on." Lancelot remained un wavered by this threat "I'm afraid I can't do that, but I am feeling merciful today, so I shall give you two one last chance to leave with your lives."
The two men laughed mockingly at Lancelot's threat, trading each other the same look they nodded in agreement. "Alright then," the first man said throwing the lady down "Just know you had the chance to leave."
The two men walked in front of Lancelot their rifles laying flat across their chest, their fingers slowly made their way down onto the trigger. Ash could feel Pikachu's static electricity revving up as the little Pokémon's cheeks began to spark. Nervously Ash looked over at Lancelot who-to his surprise-remained completely calm.
Then without warning the two men jerked their rifles up towards Lancelot, but before they could fire of a single shot Lancelot had already trusted both of his palms forwards sending out a blue sphere of Aura from each. The Aura exploded against the guns of the two men and hurling them both to the ground.
With the two men on the ground Riley hastily dismounted his Rapidash and ran to the aide of the woman who was lying curled up in the dirt. Ash got off his Tauros and quickly ran over to assist Riley.
Lancelot with his sword now drawn approached one of the men. Looking down Lancelot examined him. The barrel of his gun had become completely mangled from the blast rendering it useless, as for the man himself the bayonet that had been attached to the end of his the gun was now stuck in the middle of his chest. Lancelot shook his head before walking over to the next man.
Walking over to the second man Lancelot found him alive, but just barely. Standing over him Lancelot watched without remorse as the dying man continued to cough up large amounts of blood while attempting to breathe. The gun had acted like a grenade once Lancelot's Aura hit it, with the metal pieces acting as shrapnel. The largest piece of shrapnel was his bayonet that still had part of the barrel attached. Lodging itself deep within the man's rib cage Lancelot watched as the man took another agonizing breath. The man began coughing up another bout of blood before looking up at Lancelot. His bloodshot eyes where full of hatred as they gazed up Lancelot "Your fate has been written by your own hand." Lancelot said placing his sword above the man's heart. "I pray that God may show you the same mercy that I am about to." Without another moment's hesitation Lancelot lifted the sword above the man and proceeded to run it through his heart.
"Thank You." The woman said weakly as Ash and Riley helped her to her feet. Placing her arm around him Riley began walking her over to the side of the road "Who were those men?" Riley asked bringing her to a large Oak tree. "Come on Riley isn't it obvious, those where Team Rocket grunts. A better question would be why where they chasing her." Ash said while helping to carry the woman over to the tree.
The woman looked up at Riley and tried to speak but was too weak to utter a sound. Riley looked down at her as she tried, in pain, to speak. "It's ok, don't talk you need to rest." Riley said gently leaning her against the tree. The woman nodded and closing her eyes began to drift off to sleep. Riley looked down at her arm and saw that it was bleeding, tearing away the sleeve reveled a large gash. Riley examined the wound before turning back to Ash "Ash, run and get me some bandages from the medical pouch." "Right," Ash replied running over to the Tauros to retrieve the bandages.
Ash quickly rummaged through the small medical pouch and found a set of brown bandages at the bottom. Taking the bandages Ash sprinted back over to Riley, as he ran he noticed Lancelot walking towards Riley, his sword was drawn and had a fresh coat of red painted on it.
Ash nearly tripped as he returned to the tree where Riley stood waiting "Took you long enough," Riley said snatching the bandages away from Ash's hand. Riley immediately went to work bandaging the woman's arm. Ash looked down at the lady whose eyes were wide open; she looked up at Ash and managed to force a weak smile.
Ash knelt down next to her, she was very pretty, with her long brown hair and sapphire blue eye's she reminded him of May. "Will she be alright?" Ash asked as Riley finished bandaging her arm "Well she's extremely tired and has a few bruises on her arms and legs, not to mention a bad cut that as long we remember to change the bandages shouldn't become infected. But other than that I think she'll make it." Locking eyes with the lady he gave her a reassuring smile. The lady smiled back once more before closing her eyes again.
"Good I'm glad to hear it." Ash said "Has she said anything?" Lancelot asked kneeling beside Ash. Ash shook his head, Lancelot glanced over at Riley "Is she well enough to travel?" he asked before looking back down at the woman.
"Sire even though I'm not a physician, I still think it would be wise if she rests here for at least a day." Lancelot let out a long drawn out sigh "We can't afford to wait any longer, by now Camelot might think us dead." Riley shrugged his shoulders "I'm sorry Sire but if we move the girl we might risk unnecessary injury."
Lancelot stood back up and turned his back to the group thinking quietly to himself about the next decision he should make. "Alright then," He said turning back to the group "We shall stay one extra night. Riley, prepare a fire you're in charge of looking after her well being, Ash." Lancelot sheathing his sword "Come with me." Ash took one last look at the lady before Riley motioned for him to follow Lancelot.
Ash and Lancelot walked back over to the Tauros where Lancelot then stopped and faced Ash. "Ash I am curious to know." He said "Have you enjoyed learning how to properly use a sword?" Ash gave him a blank expression "Yea I guess so, why do you ask?" "I ask because you have shown exceptional work, and perhaps I was wrong, perhaps it is time you begin learning how to use your Aura."Lancelot opened a small pouch and began rummaging throughout the inside of it "And I thought since we're not traveling any where any time soon, now would be a good time for you to start." Lancelot said continuing to look inside the bag.
Ash and Pikachu watched him closely, curios as to what he was looking for. Suddenly Lancelot's hand stopped moving. "Ah, here we go." He said pulling out a pair of dark blue gloves. "Here you are." He said passing the gloves to Ash. Taking the gloves from Lancelot Ash quickly tried them on and found they extended all the way up to his elbow.
With his hands out in front of him Ash examined the gloves, placed at the top of each glove were two clear crystals cut in the shape of a circle and surrounded by golden stitching. Extending beneath them was a golden lightning bolt that looked as if it were being shot out from beneath the crystals. The bolt extended down the length of the forearm, stopping only a few inches from the elbow. Stitched in just below the lightning bolt were two small red flowers that were crossing each other. Ash thought they were roses but upon closer look revealed them to be tulips.
"I had the black smith make those before we left Camelot, I figured once you were ready to start mastering your Aura I would give them to you." Ash gazed at the gloves, admiring the beautiful craftsmanship. "Wow, I…I don't know what to say except thank you." Ash said grinning ear to ear as looking up at Lancelot. "Don't mention it." Lancelot said giving him a slap on the shoulder along with one of his ever so rare smiles. "Now, what do you say we go try them out?" "Pikachu!" Pikachu exclaimed throwing one of its stubby arms in the air.
Lancelot took Ash and Pikachu down to a nearby stream where the water flowed vibrantly. The soothing sight and sound of the rushing water filled Ash's ears filling him with a sense of peace. Lancelot stopped and faced Ash with a changed demeanor, what was once proud and happy had now turned serious and unforgiving. "To master your Aura, will not be an easy task." He said in a cold hearted voice "The difficulties that are involved with mastering Aura are very different from those that come with mastering a sword." Lancelot took a seat on the ground crossing his legs and motioned for Ash to do the same. "Now," Lancelot said as Ash took a seat "When fighting with a sword we use the mindset of attacking relentlessly and aggressively in order to defeat our opponent, but when using our Aura we must be calm and at peace with ourselves, so that our Aura can properly flow." Ash nodded his head "Alright so how do I do that?" "Close your eyes." Lancelot replied.
Ash looked at Lancelot hesitantly "Close them." Lancelot repeated. Ash finally gave in and closed his eyes. "Now, clear your mind, clear it of all doubt, stress, and anxiety." Ash began trying to rid his mind of his worries, but found himself thinking about May. "Let your mind become still, do not let it wonder about, focus." Ash tried pushing the thought of May out of his mind but found it continued to return causing him to lose his concentration. "Forget her, let her go." He heard Lancelot's voice say inside his head "I, I can't." Ash thought to himself. "You have to, I know you love her, but she is blocking your mind preventing your Aura from flowing, you must let go…" Ash inhaled deeply then exhaled out. He began fighting the image trying to push it out his mind, but failing each time. "Do not fight it, like a log flowing down stream you cannot stop it, you can only step out the way and let it pass. Let her pass through."
Taking another deep breath Ash allowed the image to return to him. Instead of fighting it, he allowed it to go through his mind, until it faded away in the background leaving him peace. "Now let your mind become still feel your Aura flowing through your body like a stream." Ash sat on the ground; his body and mind completely still. Everything was quiet, even the sound of the running stream became mute to Ash's ears. The only sound that could be heard was his breathing and for the moment time became suspended. Sitting there Ash found a small measure of peace within himself, putting a smile on his face. "Rise now Ash and let your Aura flow." Ash opened his eyes and saw Lancelot standing over him. "It is time." He said. Ash helped himself back onto his feet and stood before Lancelot.
"Place your hands out in front of you direct your Aura through them." Lancelot said taking a step behind Ash. Ash put his hands out in front of him as if he was pushing somebody back. Then allowing his instincts to take over began releasing his Aura. His gloves began to glow first, with the crystals turning bright blue, followed by another blue light emitting from both his palms. Slowly the energy began to grow larger and larger until it was about the size of his palms. Ash continued to release his energy until finally it turned into a sort of vibrantly blue wall that was as tall as him. "Alright that's enough." Lancelot said in a gentle voice. Ash tried stopping but realized he didn't know how. "Ash that's enough." Lancelot repeated this time in a more stern voice. Not knowing what to do Ash began to panic causing the wall to grow even larger. "Lancelot I don't know what to do!" Ash said in an urgent tone. "Ash don't panic that's the last thing we want to do right now." Lancelot's words were too late. Ash was already panicking, in a rash move Ash threw his hands back hoping that would stop the wall from growing even larger. "No Ash!" Lancelot screamed thrusting his hands out he tried to catch the Aura, but was too late. Ash's Aura exploded violently in front of him, throwing him onto the ground.
Pikachu was thrown from Ash shoulder and into Lancelot's arms. Placing the small creature aside Lancelot ran to Ash's aide. Ash was lying on the ground teetering on the edge of consciousness "Ash, Ash are you ok!?" Lancelot asked with genuine concern taking Ash into his arms. Ash looked up at Lancelot and nodded, Lancelot let out a sigh of relief "Never lose focus like that, especially when you're actually using Aura." Lancelot said while helping Ash back onto his feet. Ash rubbed his now throbbing head "I guess you'll have to teach me how not to." Lancelot's lips curled into a smile "Well it's simple, just release it, let it go like you did with your thoughts." Suddenly Pikachu hopped onto Ash's shoulder the little Pokémon nuzzled its head against Ash's while letting out a "Chaa!"
"Right," Lancelot said becoming serious again "Well I guess now is good time to return to camp, I'm sure Squire Riley heard the explosion and is probably worried sick." Lancelot said while beginning to walk back to camp. Ash glanced back at where he was once standing and saw that a large crater had formed with smoke billowing out the center.
Back at camp Ash found Riley stirring a small pot of soup. The lady from earlier now had a blanket wrapped around her and was resting her head on Riley's shoulder. As Ash and Lancelot entered the camp Riley looked up at them and smiled. "Ash, Lancelot, this is Meredith." Meredith opened her eyes and looked up at Lancelot "My Lady." Lancelot said bowing his head Meredith grinned at Lancelot's gentlemanly gesture. Ash took a seat across from Riley and Meredith. "I'm Ash and this is Pikachu." Ash said kindly. Meredith nodded in reply.
"Well grab a plate, dinner is officially served." Riley said while serving Meredith a bowl of soup. Ash's stomach growled at the mention of food reminding him of his hunger. For the most part dinner was spent in silence until Ash spoke up. Wiping his face he looked up at Meredith. "Meredith I know this might sound sudden, but I have to ask, how come Team Rocket was chasing you."
Meredith looked up at Riley who gave an approving nod, sitting up she facing Ash "Well," she said in a sweet voice "Team Rocket has hunting us down ever since we escaped. I was wandering the forest with my Butterfree trying to find some food for my camp I came across a small apple orchid that was only a few minutes' walk from my camp, but that's when those two men jumped me and my Butterfree." Meredith looked down at the fire her eyes beginning to fill with tears.
"Meredith, you said you escaped?" Meredith looked back up at Ash and nodded "That's right, Team Rocket came into my town and began rounding up all the people, men, woman, children, forcing them to work for them. Those of us that were lucky enough to escape are now being hunted." "What Town did you say you were from?" Lancelot asked Meredith looked over at the heroic Knight "Silver Town," she replied.
Lancelot expression became serious again "Meredith," he said in a stern voice "When Team Rocket came into your town, exactly how many of them were there and did they bring anything with them." Meredith thought about this for a moment "Well I'm not sure exactly how many there where, but it seemed like an entire army. They marched in, in long lines with rifles slung over their shoulders and Pokémon by their side, and big black tanks." Ash looked over at Lancelot "That explains why there being hunted, you wouldn't want anybody to know your hiding an army."
"Meredith how many of you escaped." Lancelot asked "About twenty of us managed to escape, but most of us are scattered about in the woods. Luckily my father and I managed to find ten other people and we've being hiding out in the caves ever since."
"Forgive me if I sound rude and for changing the subject, but who are you people?" Meredith asked looking around "We're Aura Knight's of Camelot." Lancelot answered "Knight's?" Meredith said with a smile "You're joking right?" she asked looking up at Riley, Riley smiled and shook his head. "Well that explains the swords I guess." She said looking over at Ash.
"So tomorrow will you return me to my father?" she asked looking back up at Riley, Riley nodded at her "You promise?" she asked "I swear." Riley replied raising his right hand as if taking an oath.
"Meredith." Ash said Meredith looked up at him "Yes?" Ash looked down at the floor then nervously back up at her "You said you and your Butterfree were attacked?" "Y…Yes." She said choking back her tears "Wh…Where is your Butterfree." Meredith suddenly burst into tears "She's dead! They shot her right in front of me!" Meredith sobbed Riley wrapped his arms around her as she buried her head in his chest sobbing uncontrollably.
That night Ash found little sleep, he spent most of his night gazing longingly at his ribbon thinking to himself about May and how she was doing and if she was ok or not. Ash tired of worrying put the ribbon back in his pocket and tried drifting off to sleep.
May was suddenly awakened by a pounding on her cell bars causing her to drop her ribbon to the floor. May quickly reached down and scrounged to get it. Retrieving the ribbon she looked up to see who it was. A man dressed in a black with a Red R painted on his chest stood before her. "Shadow has requested your presence at his table." The man said with a hollow voice. "Well you can tell him that he can go and screw himself." May said defiantly. The man remained un wavered by this "Either you come with me or I have permission to break your other ankle your choice." May looked at the man then placing the ribbon in her pocket sat up "I can't walk."
The man opened the cell door, walking in he picked her up in a cradle position, making May feel even more helpless than before. Carrying her through the dark corridors they eventually came to a large banquet hall.
A long wooden table had been laid out with four other people already sitting there. May recognized three of them Drew, Brendan, Mordred. The fourth person was a very beautiful lady who kept her head held high as she sat next to Mordred.
The man carried May to the empty seat and sat her down in it, to May's left sat Drew who smiled as she was seated next to him. "How nice of you to join us," He said, May turned her head away from him in disgust and faced towards the beautiful lady. "I see you and Drew are already acquainted." Mordred said. May glanced over at him.
His clothing had changed he now wore a blackened tunic that blended well with his chainmail armor; his face was still masked by the black hoodie he wore except for his glowing serpent like yellow eyes. "We've prepared a wonderful meal for you please eat." He said waving his hand over May's plate of food.
May looked down at the roasted chicken; it looked divine along with the sautéed vegetables and ripe fruit. A man dressed in a suit suddenly placed a large goblet beside her plate and filled it to the top with red wine.
May thought about eating until she looked across from her and saw the fair lady hadn't touched her food. "I'm sorry I'm not really hungry right now." May said leaning back in her chair. Mordred turned his head towards her, his eyes seemingly piercing into May's sent a shiver up her spine.
Slowly he placing his hands on his hood he threw it back revealing his face. May tried turning away expecting to see some sort of disfigured nightmare, but before she could Mordred had already thrown the hood back. May was shocked at what she saw, he wasn't disfigured at all, in fact he was quiet handsome. Everything about him looked like a male model except for his yellow eyes. "Well May I'm sorry to hear that. I guess that's one thing you and Guinevere here have in common." May looked across to the lady who flashed a quick smile at her.
"Why am I here?" May finally asked looking back at Mordred. Mordred scoffed at this "Must a King have an excuse to invite such lovely guest to his table?" "You're no King." Guinevere hissed under her breath. Mordred snapped toward her "What you mean like the mighty King Arthur. The same Arthur who stole my powers from me, humiliated me, banished me, twisted m-." "You did that yourself!" Guinevere yelled in Mordred's face. Mordred quickly backhanded her in the face causing May to flinch in fear. "Interrupt me again I will do more than slap you." Mordred said. Guinevere held her cheek while at the same time holding back tears.
"You think your King so great, when he's nothing more than a coward. I only wanted what was best for the Kingdom a strong powerful country unified and prosperous." "You committed treason against your King, you were lucky he only took your powers, he could have seen you hanged." Guinevere said, this time in a more respectful tone. Mordred turned his attention back towards May "You don't have the slightest clue as to what we're talking about, do you?" he asked, without waiting for a response he began explaining the story.
"You see May I come from this wonderful place called Camelot, it's beauty unrivaled by any other place in the world of course you know this since you've been there don't you?" Mordred took a sip of his wine.
"Well for all its beauty it has but one fault and that fault is a dying King with no heir to his throne. Since Arthur had no heir to his throne I thought I might allow him to see reason and have him crown me as his prince, but sadly the King did not see that fitting. So I did what any rational person would do I rebelled against him." Mordred paused here to take a bite of his burnt chicken.
"And how does Arthur thank me, he kills all the Knights who rebelled with me and then strips me of my powers, can you believe that?" There was a long silence that followed until May spoke up "Why are you telling me this?" she asked.
Mordred glanced over at Drew, who had remained silent throughout the conversation, then glanced back at May. Wiping his mouth with a small cloth he threw it on his plate and turned facing May "Once I gain my Aura back from your pesky little boyfriend Ash, I will then wage war on Camelot. After I take the city back I will become King, now unlike Arthur I acknowledge the need for an heir, so I've made a deal with Drew here. He helps me claim what's rightfully mine and he can serve me as prince."
"I still don't understand what does this have to do with me." Mordred smiled at May's confusion "Every Prince needs a Princess and if you accept my offer you will become Drew's." May looked at Drew with a disgusted look "Never will I become a Princess to monster like you!" Mordred shrugged his shoulders "So be it then, but know this once I take Ash's Aura from him you will be burned at the stake as an example to those who defy me." Mordred cut a single slice off his chicken before taking another bite. "But if at any point you decide to change your mind please let me know and you will granted mercy." Suddenly the doors to the great hall swung open, a man dressed in a Team Rocket uniform came barging in, at his side was a ferocious looking Houndoom that salivated flames from its mouth. "Sorry to interrupt, but he has arrived." "Ash," May said whispered quietly to herself. Mordred chuckled at this "Afraid not my dear," Mordred said standing up.
"I'm sorry to say, but this dinner is now concluded, guards if you would escort May and Guinevere back to their rooms." The same guard from before walked over to May and picked her up out of her chair cradling her back to her cell. Opening the door open he threw May inside, May had to bite her tongue to prevent her from screaming in agony as she landed on her ankle. As May lay on the ground in agony she felt as if someone was watching her.
Weakly she lifted her head and saw Drew standing on the other side of the bars holding the rose from earlier. "You won't be needing this anymore." He said twirling the rose in his hand. "Drew, what happened to you?" May asked with tears in her eyes, Drew averted her eyes and looked down with shame. "What is driving you to hurt your friends and those closest to you?" Drew's lips twitched into a snarl as he looked up at May. "Friends? You honestly believe that I was 'friends' with any of you, the truth is I've been playing all of you this whole time." "You and I both know that's a lie!" May screamed, Drew slammed his fist against the cell bars "And how the hell would you know!" "Because I know you Drew, better than anyone else!" Drew was stunned at the comment "This isn't you Drew, the Drew I knew would never do something like this. The Drew I knew was kind, compassionate, and loving."
Drew looked down and shook his head "The foolish Drew you think you knew is gone." He looked up at her with a solemn expression "I only want power now, and Shadow will help me achieve that." Drew began walking off but stopped and turned back to May "Please reconsider his offer." And with that he walked away. May looked at the ground where Drew had stood a blackened pedal from the rose had broken off and drifted to the ground.
