Chapter Four

Well, the class had seemed nice enough at the start. Heck, even the teacher was nice. And by nice, Saeko meant breath takingly gorgeous of course, but that was besides the point. The point was, everything had been nice at the start. But now...now not so much.

Saeko groaned as one of the twin's hands had once again attached itself to one of her short pigtails and begun tugging at it.

Oh yes, definitely much nicer at the start of it all. Before she had found out that she would be put into these two's group, that is. Fate these days was not so kind, it would seem.

It had been bad enough having to endure the first four periods sitting next to Twin One, but now she was sandwiched between the both of them. And it was not fun. Now she really knew how Haruhi had felt. Her poor younger cousin, how she had put up with the two of these twits was beyond her. Sae was close to maiming the both of them with the cook book at this point.

"~Sae-chan, we're hungry,~" Another one of the twin's hands joined with the first in grabbing a hold of a free pigtail and tugging. "~Cook for us.~"

Ha, Sae snorted at that. As if she would willingly cook for those two snots. She had better things to do. After smacking both sets of hands away from her mistreated hair, Saeko turned to give each twin a glower. "Forget it; if you two are hungry then cook something yourself. And stop calling me Sae-chan!"

It wasn't that Saeko didn't want to cook, she did. She loved cooking and now that she thought about, she was kind of hungry now too. But fact of the matter was, as soon as Saeko had sat down at the table both twins had declared that she was now to be their, as they so bluntly put it, "Personal Chef." Those two had actually expected her to just...to just willingly cook for them. And that just didn't fly by Saeko. Nope, not one bit.

"~But Sae-chan,~" Both Hikaru and Kaoru moved closer to the irate woman, each of them dropping their heads down to rest on Saeko's arms before looking up at her with identically matching puppy dog eyes. "~We want you to cook for us.~" Because you know, puppy dog eyes coming from the Host Club's loving twins would make any girl fall to their charm.

Ha, well they were in for a surprise.

"Forget it," Saeko quickly shook the both of them off before crossing her arms, effectively keeping them out of reach from the handsy twins. "What do I look like; your maid? You each have two hands, cook something yourselves."

"~But Sae-chan-~"

"I said forget it! And stop with the, 'Sae-chan,' already! I don't see why I should have to cook; if you're hungry then you make something to eat, yourself. It's not like I'm getting paid for any of this or-"

"~It's your grade too, you know.~" They both interjected, giving Haruhi's cousin a pointed look. And sad to say, they actually made a rather good point; not that Saeko would admit to it.

Rolling her eyes, Saeko stood up from their table before stomping over to their little kitchen area. "Fine, you want me to cook? Then I'll cook. But I'll be the only one eating. If either of you wants to eat then you're both going to have to make a contribution to this cooking effort."

"~Aw, but Sae-chan-~"

"Stop calling me that."

They both ignored her input, "~We don't want to cook.~"

She just scoffed, "Then you don't want to eat. You either help or you're not eating; plain and simple. Those are my terms, take them or leave them."

Grumbling under their breaths, both twins grudgingly got up from the table before going to stand by Saeko.

"Don't think that you've won, or anything. Because you haven't." Hikaru made sure to point out. Because she hadn't. Won, that is. If it weren't for his growling stomach, he most certainly would not be helping out.

And Haruhi's cousin or not; Hikaru did not like being told what to do. Even if it was just to help out with the stupid cooking. Haruhi's cousin should have been thankful enough to both him and Kaoru for just putting up with her in the first place! She should have wanted to cook for them. It should have been a pleasure for her to be able to cook for them. After all, he and his brother didn't let just anybody cook for them.

And besides, they had even agreed to walk her to her Art class the next period, and they had even offered and agreed to letting Saeko into their Home EC group. And they did not just let anybody into their group. Hikaru was very happy with his group consisting of just himself and his little brother. They didn't need her. And they most certainly did not need her bossing them around, that was for sure!

"We're only helping you out because we're hungry." Kaoru chimed in agreement with his twin, wrapping an arm around the older boy's waist before giving it a small, but comforting squeeze.

He could tell that Hikaru was getting aggravated with Haruhi's cousin. She was proving to be more of a challenge then both boys had expected. And while Kaoru relished that fact, he knew that Hikaru was quickly becoming irritated with their new play thing.

Though, in his brother's defense, it hadn't helped that Saeko had pretty much ordered Hikaru to carry his own weight around the kitchen. Even if her compromise had made every bit of sense. It was just something that he knew would piss off his elder brother. And, at seeing the twitch in the older boy's jaw, he knew that Saeko had succeeded at just that.

Upon further thinking, both boys deemed that it was better for Haruhi's older cousin not to know how much she had simply been able to irritate them, and both Hitachiin boys gave the brunette girl a nonchalant shrug. Playing off their irritation as mere indifference. "~And we're bored~." They both choose to add. "It's not like we have anything better to do.~"

Oh, Saeko could give them a few suggestions for what they could do to alleviate their boredom. Like jumping off of a cliff for starters. Saeko would like nothing more than for them to take that certain suggestion of hers.

And please, like she actually gave a crap about their boredom in the first place. If it wasn't for her grade in this class, or for the fact that she was indeed hungry, Saeko wouldn't even bother with cooking. Especially not for those two.

"Oh, but it's your grade too, ya know?" Saeko then mocked, using their previous statement against them as she busied herself with finding a large enough bowl or basket that she could use to bring back some ingredients in.

It really didn't help that they only had about forty minutes of class left either. They'd have to make something fast. An easy, quick fix. Now...what was an was an easy and quick dish that they could make? Something that wasn't cookies of course. Saeko wanted an easy A in this class, and her attempting to bake cookies would get her a C- at best. And as tempting as it was to butcher the twin's grades, Saeko knew that her own grade would ultimately suffer as well. And that was a no, no.

Then it hit her.

"Look," she didn't bother to glance back at either of the boys as she spoke, "Just find me all the crap that we'll need to bake muffins-"

"~Muffins?~"

"And I'll go ahead and get all of the other crap that we'll need for the batter. I'm sure that even you two can manage that much. Ah," she grinned to herself upon finally finding a large enough bowl. "This will do." It was big enough, that was for sure. The only downside was that it was made out of a heavy, porcelain-like glass. Well, it would have to do.

She would try her best not to break it. She really didn't feel like having to explain to Mr. Daisuke how she had broken an expensive piece of pottery on her first day. It just didn't sound like a conversation that she would want to have with the Greek like god of a teacher.

Both twins tilted their heads, looking down at her questioningly. "~You're going to make muffins?~"

This of course, Sae just snorted at; was that not what she had just said? "Did you not just hear me, or are you both just that dense?" She didn't wait for an answer and instead walked around the two of them, the large bowl now held firmly within her arms. "And yes, we're making muffins." She made sure to emphasize the, "We're." She was not going to be the only one helping to make the stupid muffins.

Again, not waiting for, nor allowing them to speak, Saeko continued. "And since you both seem to be running a tad bit below the proper speed limit as of late, I'll go ahead and tell you both again; I'm going to go and get the ingredients while you two get the baking materials out and ready to go; got it memorized?"

And for a third time, the brunette easily ignored the two Hitachiin boys as she hastily made her way back to where Mr. Daisuke had earlier shown her where the supply room was at. She was more than ready to get this baking crap over and done with.

Saeko had been so engrossed in getting away from both Hikaru and Kaoru that she hadn't even paused to consider that someone may or may not have been behind the door leading into the supply room. Needless to say, as soon as she swung the door open it had made instant contact with someone else on the other side.

"Oh gosh, I am so sorry!" She spluttered out to the poor girl that she had no doubt smacked with the heavy door. "I didn't mean to hit you! I'm so stupid-I wasn't even thinking-Are you okay? Here, let me get that for you!" Saeko quickly offered, not bothering to wait before making a grab for the full basket that was tucked within the strawberry blond haired girl's arms. "I-I didn't hit you too hard, did I?"

Before the other girl could even open her mouth to respond, a loud resonating laugh suddenly boomed within the supply room and both Saeko and the no doubt bruised girl reddened instantly upon realizing that they were not the only two to have witnessed the door interaction.

Saeko watched as the girl that she had hit swiveled around to glare openly at another, taller female student whom had apparently been in the supply room the whole time, much to both girl's displeasure.

"Shut your mouth, Emi! It's Not funny! That freaking hurt, okay? Do you know how heavy that dumb door is? Oh my gosh Em, shut up, shut up, it's not funny!"

The tall, laughing girl; Emi, only continued to laugh; albeit harder, as the shorter, strawberry blonde haired girl continued to yell profanities and for her to shut up.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! B-but Hoshi, y-your face-!" She doubled over again and it took a few moments before she could spit out the next word. "Priceless!"

If looks could kill, Emi would have been six feet under. Easily.

"You're lucky that murder isn't legal." The poor sap that Saeko had hit with the door; Hoshi, spat at Emi whom sadly was still laughing and who was nearly in tears at this point. "If you do not stop laughing so help me Emi, they will not be able to find your body when I'm through with you."

Saeko would have laughed...had it not been she that had caused the girl; Hoshi, such pain. Because if it were any other case, in any other situation, Saeko would have joined right on in with the laughing.

"You wouldn't go through with it, you'd miss me too much." Emi replied cheekily once she had sobered up enough.

Hoshi just kept up her glower. "You want to bet on that?"

Emi just rolled her eyes, waving Hoshi's hostility aside before stepping forward to greet Saeko. "Don't mind Hoshi here, she's all bark and no bite-"

"I'll show you no bite-"

"She's like a big'ol watermelon, or a tootsie pop!"

"A watermelon or a tootsie pop? Woman, what is wrong-"

"She's all hard and mean on the outside, but gooey and loveable on the inside!~"

"Eh heh..." Saeko stared at the now two arguing girls, fighting down the urge to laugh. These two were definitely...different.

"Duh," Emi smacked her forehead, before grinning at Saeko. "Where are our manners? I'm Miyamoto Akemi; or Emi for short. And this," She grabbed Hoshi by the middle of the arm before yanking her forward to stand besides her. "This is Nakamora Hoshi. You're the new scholarship student that everyone's been talking about, right? The one that's like, nearly four months late starting into the school year?"

"Emi!" Hoshi reached up to swat at the back of Emi's head.

This caused Emi to let out a tiny yelp, "Hey!" she quickly shoved Hoshi away from her side before reaching up to rub at the now tender spot on the back of her head. She pouted, "What'd you smack me for, Hoshi? All I did was ask her a question!"

Hoshi rolled her eyes, "Yeah, a rude question. Don't you think before you speak?" She shot right back.

"You, of all people, should know that I don't."

"You're really something else, you know that?"

"Aww, thanks Hoshi!"

"That wasn't a compliment."

"I'm still going to take it like it was one!~"

Yep, these two were definitely something else alright.

"Um yes," Saeko chose to speak up, before Hoshi could smack at the taller, ivory haired girl who was still gushing over her received, "Compliment." She gave both girls a small smile and a tiny wave. "That would be me. Mizore Saeko, but you can call me Sae if you'd like."

She liked these two. They were refreshing to be around compared to all of the other girls that Saeko had been stuck around all day; minus Haruhi of course. It was just nice to see females that weren't all prim and proper. They also reminded her of herself and Mei, to an extent.

"See? I told you she wouldn't take it personally!" Emi huffed to Hoshi.

"What? You didn't tell me any-"

"Anyways!" Emi practically bounced over to grab a hold of Saeko's hands, still grinning and effectively cutting off her more than annoyed companion. "It's nice to finally meet you face to face and all that jazz! So, how are ya liking the school so far? I heard that you practically get Fujioka and the Hitachiin twins all to yourself for nearly the whole day; is that true? I bet it is, well, at least with the Hitachiin brothers anyways. Because I totally saw you cozying it up with them back there at your table earlier! You lucky dog, you! The Hitachiin brothers and Fujioka," She stopped her rambling to let out a low whistle. "Man. What I would GIVE to be in your shoes, Sae-chan! Although I, myself, favor Hunny and Mori-senpai. But, those three still aren't bad looking though! You really made out!"

Saeko all but blanched. C-cozying it up...with the Hitachiin brothers? Is that what it had looked like? Oh dear god, no. Just-NO. And what was it with everyone calling her Sae-chan? Haruhi says it one time, one time and now it's suddenly her new name! Not that she minded Emi calling her by that or anything, but after having to correct and get on both Hikaru and Kaoru about it all day, it was getting old. And wait, did she just say what she think she said about Haruhi not being bad looking? Oh, ew.

Before either Saeko or Emi could get another word in, Hoshi effectively slapped a hand over the ivory haired girl's mouth, shutting her up before she could spout any more onto the poor new student. "That's enough, Em." She reprimanded the taller girl bluntly. "You're scaring the poor girl."

Well, she was half right, Saeko would give her that much. But it wasn't Emi that scared Saeko, what scared her was the fact that people thought that she was hitting up on the twins. Can you say ew much? And the fact that there were people that went to this school that actually liked the twin brothers...she shuddered at the thought. They must not know what the two of them were really like. One day. One day with those two was all it would take to have them shuddering right along with her.

Before Saeko could correct Emi on her horribly, horribly wrong assumptions, the door to the supply room suddenly flung open and lo and behold, the little devils themselves had walked into the room.

"What is taking you so long?" Hikaru all but demanded the second his eyes fell onto Saeko.

"Yeah," Kaoru, as always, chimed in. "We've had the pans and stuff out for the muffins ages ago."

All three girls just stared at the brothers. One in a happy shock, one in an awkward discomfort, and the other in plain annoyance.

And just when she'd thought she had caught a break. With an obvious roll of her eyes, Saeko answered them, "I was talking. Obviously."

Hikaru huffed like the diva that he was. "Well because of your, 'talking' we now don't have enough time to cook anything!"

Again, Saeko couldn't help but to roll her eyes. Really. He was such a drama queen. "Then we'll just have to cook the muffins tomorrow, or some other time this week-"

Hikaru cut her off, "Did you not understand that when I told you to cook it was because, I don't know, maybe because I was hungry? Did that thought ever occur to you?"

"And like I said earlier, you and your brother each have two hands; therefore, you both could have easily made something to eat, yourselves-"

"And I would have made something to eat myself if somebody hadn't already volunteered to get us the stupid ingredients in the first place!"

Kaoru, who had remained relatively silent during both his brother's and Saeko's argument, then chose to speak up. "We have been waiting on you, Sae-chan. It's neither Hikaru nor my fault that we got stuck with such a lazy Home EC partner."

Lazy? Lazy!? She had been gone for maybe ten minutes, top! At least she was willing to cook! But what about them? What were they willing to do? What had they done? Oh, wait. Sorry. They had used their precious little hands themselves to get a few pans out. Ooh. And it wasn't like Saeko herself had had to all but force them both into helping her make the dumb muffins in the first place! Nope, not at all. Because she was just the lazy one.

"Fine, you're both hungry, huh? Then let me feed you. Let me get some food into those precious little bellies of yours." She gave them each the sweetest smile that she could muster up before grabbing two of the nearest pieces of edible food that she could get a hold of, which just so happened to be a loaf of Italian bread and a trio of bananas, and then proceeded to launch them both at their faces.

The stunned look of pure shock and disbelief that was splayed across their faces was well worth the lecture that she would no doubt be receiving from either Haruhi or the stunning Mr. Daisuke. Saeko made sure to give both Kaoru and Hikaru another sickeningly sweet smile before simply telling them to, "Eat up.~" And with a exaggerated wave of her hand, and after a rushed out goodbye and an awkward, "It was nice to meet you," to both Hoshi and Emi, she was well on her way out of that supply room.

Art class had never looked so good.
