Chapter 6- Back Again
I don't own Merlin or any of it's characters!
It was just a scratch. That's what Percival kept telling himself as he rushed over to the physicians' chambers. He was on patrol with Gwaine when Petros and his men attacked them. The knight knew that it wasn't wise to trust this Petros character. From the moment he had entered the throne room; Percy could see his Mark. It branded him for all eternity. "Son of Eios," it screamed at him. Percy knew that Gwaine could hear it too.
During the attack, the knight's collarbone had been broken and there was a gash stretching across his chest. Gwaine managed to get out with only a few scraps- he had been at his peek- so Percival suffered the most injuries of the two.
As Percy stepped into the chamber, he has surprised to find a girl wondering around the room and Gaius to be nowhere in sight. From what he could tell her hair was tangled into a knot with several curls escaping wildly and crawling up the back of her exposed neck was her Mark. It was as golden as the sun and every bit as mesmerizing as he had heard.
"I would take a seat if I were you Percival before you pass out due to the lack of blood," her voice was clear and confident. Percy couldn't utter a single word in response. He simply took a seat at the nearest workbench.
"How- how d-did you…?" Percy was feeling weaker by the second. His vision was beginning to blur.
She laughed slightly as she made her way over to the knight. Her hands where filled with various bottles, "It's mid-day and I'm at my strongest. Even a Guardian should know that."
Before Percival could give any response, the girl had tilled his head back and was pouring a warm liquid down his throat. It was sweet and sticky. Percy knew right away that the girl had given him some ambrosia; he felt stronger and more awake. He could see the girl clearly now. Their eyes locked and with a single flash, Percy knew who she was. He felt a wave of relief to know that she was still alive; she just had a new skin.
"You know the drill, this is going to be really warm," Leviathan muttered as her cool hands were placed over the cut that lingered across the Guardians' chest.
"How did you manage to heal Percival like that?" Merlin was still in a state of shock. He had returned to his chambers for a few hours before he had to serve Arthur dinner. He was expecting the room to be empty, so you could imagine his the surprise when he saw Levi with her hands on a bleeding Percival.
"All demi-children have a time of the day or month when their magic is it's strongest. Mid-day is mine."
Merlin was anxious to learn of Levi and her magic. It was nice to have someone to converse openly about magic without having to worry about someone over hearing. It was the same comfort that he felt when he had spoke with his father about dragons. Without a thought, the sorcerer's hand hovered over the spot where he kept the wooden figurine in his bag. His mind drifted to the last thing that his father had every said to him…
There was a sudden sharp pain in Merlin's head and with out realizing it, he found himself at the base of a large tree with the drumming in his head becoming louder by the second. The only thing louder than the pain in his head was the laugh of Leviathan.
She couldn't contain herself. A wide smile spread across her face as it lit up with laughter. Her face appeared younger while she attempted to stifle her laughter with her hands.
Merlin couldn't help but laugh as well. The past week had been too serious and without any amusement. He was glad to see Leviathan happy; it made him happy as well.
Levi reached down to help her friend up, but as she placed her hands around the base of her arm, she could feel an electrical hum where her hands were. Heat rose in her face when their eyes locked. They were so clear, almost like the sky its self. Suddenly, the lost demi-child missed home. Her real home, not the ones that she's made up.
"Um, how far away are we?"
Merlin shrugged, "Not that far. I found you just over that hill."
With out another word, Leviathan took off running towards the sight. Weaving through the trees, she could feel joy rushing through her. Each step brought her closer to something that was solely hers; her necklace of the 4 Kings.
The necklace was given to her when her Mark had first appeared. She had only been a child at the time and didn't know what it had meant, but now it was a symbol of hope for the return of her people.
The bag was easy enough to find. Before she had fallen unconscious, Levi had hidden the bag using that last remaining magic she had. As soon as she stepped into the clearing, the battered leather bag floated gently down to her. Leviathan could feel her mother smiling down on her from the 3rd realm.
Levi had only begun to lie out the contents of the bag when Merlin arrived. His breath was heavy from the running. Levi sent him an apologetic smile.
"What is all of this?" he asked between breaths.
"Its everything I own," Levi removed a curved sword from the bag and unsheathed it. She ran her fingers lovingly across the gleaming blade, "and everything that is dear to me."
Finally, she pulled out the necklace. It was a simple leather cord and from the centre hung a symbol that was the shape of an X. From each point of the X, a swirl decorated it. At first glance, it appeared to be a druid symbol, but Merlin knew other wise.
Merlin pointed at the necklace and said, "May I?"
Leviathan nodded and placed the symbol in Merlin's hand. The sorcerer then gingerly walk around the demi-child and tied the necklace at the nape of her neck. As he did so, his knuckles brushed Levi's Mark. Merlin could feel her shudder under his touch, whether it was good or not he did not know.
I ship it! LOL hope you enjoyed this incredibly long chapter! Until next time,
