Chapter 7- The Four Kings

I don't own anything! (I blame math for this chapter taking so long!)

"We should, uh, be getting back," Leviathan barely managed to get out. No one had every touched her like that, not even her dear baby brother. She could feel the intensity of his magic just by being near him. It's all true father, Leviathan thought, I was right to write his fate in such away. He is powerful, much more then what we thought.

Neither Merlin nor Leviathan said much on the way back to Camelot. Both kept their eyes to the rising city in the distance. On occasion, their arms would brush and both would turn a violet shade of red. However, both the demi-child and the young sorcerer shared a secret smile for no one with knew of the moment that they shared in the forest.

After bringing Levi back to Gaius' chambers, Merlin quickly rushed of to serve Arthur for the night. Those hours were spent with a small smile playing at his lips and his heart jumping every time he thought of her.

Leviathan however, spent the night in the company of Gaius and is never ending questions. Not that she minded, Gaius reminded Levi of her uncle. They both shared a warm eager smile and loving eyes that never seemed to falter.

"For one so young, you do seem to know a lot about the origins of magic," Gaius said after her Mark had been covered with thick gauze.

Leviathan shrugged, "I heard many stories when I was younger. My favourite are the ones about Dragons," Leviathan smiled at the thought, "It has been said that Dragons were created in honour of Lady Lillith's birth and by doing so, magic it's self was created."

Gaius smiled slightly as a sudden realization dawned upon him. It was the only explanation. His faced hardened in concern. Levi seeing this, rushed over to physician.

"Please Gaius, you must tell no one. If any one were to know, I would bring another war to this realm," Her eyes filled with hurt, "Please. No one must know until it is time."

"Alright," Gaius said with a heavy heart as he brought his hand to cup her cheek, "No one will know. Just promise me one thing."

"Anything."

"Don't break his heart to much." Both Gaius and Leviathan shared a long look of understanding before they cracked a smile and finally laughed.

The afternoon's events seemed to all haze together. Most of the time was spent smiling and laughing, mostly at Merlin. Mortals are still a thing completely unknown to Leviathan; their ways, culture and speech seemed to be far more advanced then what was originally thought. But then again, she did spend most of her time looking after the dead. Literally. But one thing that she could remember clearly was the look on his face when she was telling the story of her ancestors. She could tell that Merlin would live up to the legends that have been written about him. The only question was whether Arthur would live up to them as well.

Earlier.

"You really want to know, don't you?" Leviathan laughed. All Merlin could do is nod awkwardly.

Leviathan took a deep, comforting breath and began her tale:

"Long ago, before magic was with mortals, four kings controlled the four realms of the world: Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. The mortals regarded these kings as gods and they were treated like so.

" These kings had everything that they could want, wives to keep them company and strong brothers and sisters to control parts of the realm. However, something was missing.

"Here you have princes and princesses to succeed your kings, but they have none. Knowing this, they turned to mortals to make their children. In doing so, they created a race of half-god, half-mortal children with magical identities to their parent."

Merlin was lying on his back, his arm thrown behind his head for support. With the lush grass below him and Levi's words filling the air, Merlin could feel himself drifting off into a comforted sleep. However, he wouldn't even dare to sleep in the presence of Leviathan. Seeing this, Leviathan lay back in the grass and continued, "Time went on, but the gods became restless. Mortals grew tired of the gods and the gods of them. Too many demi-children walked the earth, too many with magical blood. Eios, the king of Earth went on a rampage and killed many of his children, calling them illegitimate and bastards. Other gods soon followed his lead and all but killed off the demi-children.

"But in the mists of the darkness, there was a sudden burst of light. Lady Leven, the sun goddess gave birth to a little girl. This girl had hair as dark as the night and eyes like the light of day. Her father was the most powerful of the four kings; king Teanion, god of the wind, and her mother was greatly desired through out the realms for her beauty and kindness. She was first and only godly child.

"In celebration of her birth, they kings came together for the last time to create a creature that could walk upon the earth, fly in the skies, swim in the water, and breath fire."

"Dragons," Merlin mumbled softly.

"Do you know much about them?" Levi asked as she rolled to face Merlin, but he appeared to be asleep. And how Leviathan envied him; to be in such a state of peace for hours on end is rare, even for the godly child herself.

Leaving her jealousy to her thoughts, Leviathan poked Merlin in the flesh of his cheek and he awoke in a state of shock. The two had been lying so close to one another, Leviathan could feel the heat radiating from his skin.

"We should, uh, be getting back."

I don't know when the next chapter will be out...
