This was suppose to be uploaded about two weeks ago... Damn School, essays... I must be cursed...
April 8th 2011
Today before our Spring Break starts Alice came by my room. Her belly still looks flat to me, but she is almost two months, I assume she won't start popping out until another month or so. After showing me her belly and taking pictures of her barely noticeable lump, she told me wanted to tell Alfred when schools starts again. It doesn't sound like a good idea to me though. I hope she enjoys her break, she obviously needs it.
I had an interesting conversation with Ivan today.
-oOo-
The chilly April breeze slapped against my face leaving my lips chapped. I reeked of stale cigarette as I tried to keep a certain sitting distance from Ivan hoping he won't notice. My Russian friend enjoyed sitting close to me though.
"Um Madeline," Ivan turned to me, his purple irises gazed at me in a kindly manner. "What are your parents like?"
Another unexpected question by Ivan. Choosing to look at his scarf I scratched my arms, "I-I… Um… W-well… Ehhhh…" I paused trying to think of way to get off topic, "W-why?"
"I was just curious that's all" Ivan turned his head away and frowned.
I felt bad for not answering his question, "I'll answer it if you go first"
He turned to me with a shy smile. "Fair enough"
My eyes studied him as he started to fiddle with the grey pebbles on the ground. It took him a few minutes to start, but I assume he was trying to think of what to say about them.
His purple eyes looked up into the sky like he was reminiscing.
"My mother. She left when I was a baby. About two, I suppose." He smirks "My father use to say me whenever I got an injury, 'Your mother never held you, why should I?'," He frowned, "It was true, my father said it was true, even the nanny said so too. They told me that she never wanted to hold me, to never feed me, she didn't love me like a mother should've. I wondered why though. My mother up and left, then about a month later my father remarried." Ivan threw a pebble over the edge and pulled his knees to his chest. "My father wasn't the greatest person in the world. He was this, um, 'business man', he was always traveling. I never had him around, just a nanny. Some old hag that I grew to despise."
Ivan looked over at me. I nodded for him to go on.
"Well, I'm the only child. Maybe there are other children… I don't know. Don't care. But I do have cousin sisters, and they get on my nerves sometimes.
"Oohhh" I tried to imagine what I was like living as an only child. The way he described his small family, it doesn't sound like he has any feelings toward them.
"Da! Your turn!" Ivan's attitude quickly changed as he smiled and giggled.
"Yes, it is my turn" I said quietly. Rubbing my hidden scabs I stared at my boots. "For you it must've been very lonely without your mother. From what I remember my mother was an amazing woman. She had the brightest blue eyes you would ever see. I remember how warm she was, and how comforting her voice was. Like an angel"
"Past tense?"
"mhmm" I nodded "My mother died when Alfred and I were kids. S-she was really sick. The last thing I remember about her was how frail she was." I was silent for a moment. My lip quivered as I thought about that day. Ivan pulled me into a hug. Shakily inhaling I continued. "My father wasn't the greatest person either. He um…." Curling up into Ivan's chest I mumbled, "He didn't want us, he gave us to that damn woman."
-oOo-
I really didn't elaborate for Ivan after that. Alfred burst through the door and chased Ivan around for a good ten minutes until he decided to get fast food with him instead. It's surprising that Alfred is warming up to Ivan though.
Alfred and I have nowhere to go this spring break so we decided to stay at the dorms and attend the fair that is coming up. Ivan is staying too.
Sincerely yours,
Madeline
She signed her name with swirls and a smiley face.
She sighed closing her journal. A loud knocked startled her. Going to the door she hid her journal.
"Who could it be?"
As she reached for the door knob the door swung open, cracking the wall. A tall and obviously pissed off albino stood before her.
"Hello Birdie" His voice was harsh just like his rough hand. He reached out and gripped the smaller girl. "I saw you hanging around that beast."
Trying to shrink away from the fuming Prussian his grip bruised her delicate arm.
"P-please, I beg you" She cowered to the floor, tears stinging her eyes as she tried to speak.
"Beg me what? To let you go and see that god damn Russian freak!?" His voice boomed like thunder. "You're mine! And I'll make sure that bastard wouldn't want a slut like you!"
Using one foot he slammed the door shut and tossed her on the bed.
"Yo Ivan, got any plans for springbreak?" Alfred chomped down the last burger as he and Ivan readied to leave the fast food place.
"Nyet, I am staying here? Why?" Ivan picked up a twig and twirled it in the air like a drumstick.
"Mmm, just wondering. Maddie and I are staying here too" Alfred smiled and tossed his trash into a bin. "You its funny at first I thought you were some psycho off to rape anyone you meet. Buuuut after chilling out with you and Maddie's convincing, I think you're kind of okay….ish"
"That is nice to hear Alfred" Ivan stuck the twig in Alfred's hair.
"Hey!" Brushing out his hair as Ivan laughed he got an idea. "Last one to the park buys anything the winner wants! GO!"
Both teens made a mad dash to the park. Which was twenty blocks away from the school.
Violently I shook my head, pleading for him to stop. My begging went to deaf ears as his large rough hands bruised my arms and neck. Scratches reached down my bare torso, where my stomach slightly bled. My attempts were useless against him. Why does this keep happening to me?
