THIS IS NOT MINE. I found it as the fifth comment on youtube watch?v=JnTplu65-0Q (remove the space), and posted it here so that it can get more exposure. It belongs to WestCountryGamer, and if (s)he would like me to take it down, please PM me. It comes from the Link The First Flame ending for Dark Souls III. I MAY someday try to write versions for Usurpation of Fire and The End of Fire, but as I've never even played the game, it is uncertain. Without further ado, enjoy!
As you inflict a final strike with your blade to fall the final boss and see the bonfire rise from the ashes as so many before you, you sense a presence behind you. You turn in anxiousness as to who or what it may be. As you look around you see the Firekeeper stood solemnly, she walks towards you as if she has some importance you should know. The Firekeeper holds you tightly as she whispers, ''you have come so far ashen one and conquered so much'' she pauses for what seems a lifetime and whispers reluctantly ''As well as my heart'' for she knows the ashen one must link the fire and perish as this is the fate of the ashen. You declare your love for the Firekeeper as she takes off your helmet and passionately kisses you that makes your heart seem to stop as you never want this moment to end. However the part that cuts deeper than any blade ever could is that you must link the fire and sacrifice your own soul as this is your fate as an ashen one. In a world full of hostility and death you have finally found true, beautiful love, but you must let it go. With regret you explain to her that you must link the fire and in turn leave her behind which hurts beyond any pain known as you want to be with her more than your next breath. You pull away from the Firekeeper and turn as she begs you not to leave her holding you from behind with tears streaming delicately from her cheeks to immediately dry as they fall and hit the ash below your feet. she holds you as you start to link the fire, you feel yourself become filled with heat and yet somehow do not feel pain as her touch comforts you knowing you found love in such a place. ''I am so sorry, my love, but I must'' you plea. You see embers leaving your body as you slowly burn away and whisper ''I love you'' before becoming ash slowly falling where you once stood slipping through her fingers. She falls to her knees helplessly as she silently cries caressing the ash that was once her brave ashen hero and utters one final whisper ''please don't go''. Just only for the cycle to happen over and over again. For this is the curse of the Firekeeper, losing everything she once loved.
