Chapter 8-Harry's Toad Problem

After the first week of school went and Harry, his girlfriends and some of his fellow Gryffindors, were now starting to feel an invisible vice, constricting their movements and impeding their studies. This invisible vice, began to appear after Harry had a bad run in with their new defense teacher: Professor Umbridge, when the Gryffindor fifth years had their first Defense class:

It was now a Tuesday morning and it was the day of the Gryffindors first defense class of the year, but weirdly Harry was dreading the moment, as he and his friends waited to be let in to the class and once the door opened to let admissions in, Professor Umbridge poked her head and commanded, "Come in dears," in a sickly sweet tone and caused mass state of shivers to travel the spines of: the Gryffindors, while their Slytherin counterparts hid theirs behind smug smirks and evil grins, that said, 'Your dead Mudbloods.' Calming down, the students entered the class and found it bare, nothing hanging on the walls, nothing that said, 'this is my class and what I say is law,' while the Professor had already made it to the front of the and was sitting at her desk.

After finding their seats, the professor then waved her wand and a pile of thin pink covered books, flew to each desk and lands with a soft 'thud' before Professor Umbridge greeted, "Good morning class," to and it was politely returned. Now skipping the boring stuff and going for the killed, Harry raised his hand and when he was called on, he asked, "Not to be rude Professor, but how are we suppose to use theory to defeat those dark wizards that have been attacking places like Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express?" however his question, was answered by a question, "And why would a fifth year student be fighting against the people that attack those places, Mr. Potter?" but Harry gave the answer that infuriated her, so she then said, "60 points from Gryffindor and you have 3 days of Detention with me from your inability to let the true law enforcements do their work," and that was that, as well as the return to the normal run of class time.

With the rest going down a similar vain, Harry soon realized it was best to keep his mouth shut and his opinions to himself when dealing with the defense classes, but that was only a limited relief, see as the self-named Prince of Slytherin: Draco Malfoy had brought it on himself to ensure Harry was given detention, for no real rhyme or reason, but seeing as Harry was a Prefect like Draco, the latter had to get creative with his plans and that was a far cry from the norm, like just 2 weeks ago:

[Fulgura retro:

It was now 3 days after his first assigned detention from Umbridge and it had involved writing lines with a blood quill, but that had not lasted long after the first, because as soon as the first time was finished, Harry then headed for Professor McGonagalls office and room, while on the way there Harry had slipped a ring with a caduceus, on the face and passed it over his belt buckle, that then intoned, "Healing Please," conjuring arune circle and then Harry placed his injured hand in the seal, causing bandages to entwine around the wound and then after the act was complete, dismissed the spell and returned on his way to his teachers office.

After making his way to McGonagalls office, explained what had happened during his detention with the defense Professor and then with her, headed towards the hospital wing, for treatment and then got dismissed, where he then headed for his bed. Then the next morning, Harry was downing in the hall eating his fill of breakfast, when a shy student had given him a note, which he then read:

{Mr. Potter,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, your remaining detention are now cancelled for the time been and will resume, once I have figured out a suitable punishment.

But be warned, if you even get out of line again your detentions will increase.

Hope you have a good school year,

Delores Jane Umbridge}

Finishing with a snort of mirth, Harry then burned the letter on a candle, that was dressing the table and then he finished his food, before leaving for his first class of the day. With today been Tuesday, Harry and the Gryffindor fifth years had potions, so they then got ready and with a groan from Ron, got their way.

It is now seven hours after the Potion class and it had gone well, but not brilliantly, though at least there were no bad accidents, but the Gryffindor had to endure the sneer on Snapes face. But that is off topic, and with Harry and his friends on a free period, decided to do that they wished to and headed their separate ways, however it was not going to be peaceful, as Draco and his gang of trolls had followed: Harry, before they then decided to strike out with the first to fire was Draco casting, "Reducto,"which was then deflected against a wall, when Harry heard the not so subtle roar, and while not even looking (for if he had he would of notice the defense teacher watching in glee), Harry chanted, "Contego," making a shield in which protected the trio of Gryffindor with him, but before Harry could retaliate Professor Umbridge then made herself known while saying, "The enough Potter, 30 points from Gryffindor and 2 extra days of detention, for defying you superiors."

And that was it, unfair? Yes! But there was nothing to be done, though at least the blood quill was not been used, instead he had to ghost write the law proposals for the Wizengamot and that was just as worst, seeing as had to listen to the fakingly sweat voice of: Umbridge, while writing down the pureblooded promoting laws and endure the slander against light sided wizarding families.
