Chapter 10-the Problem of Ron and Dumbledore
2 weeks after Harry had finished his detentions with Umbridge, found the new golden trio relaxing by the black lake, after along day of testing their endurance and tolerance levels, as they had gotten into a fight with Ron over his lack of academic motivation, which stemmed from the 12 late assignments he handed in with a feel of him passing due to Harry being his friend and they were barely started, while having only one line of text saying [this subject is crap and boring].
While Dumbledore was now in a state of absolute panic, as he read the quarter year (so far) ranking of the Gryffindor students, where he found out that Harry and Hermione were now neck and neck for the top ranked 5th year, the only thing stopping Hermione for getting any high was due to her inability to describe things in her own words. Hours after Dumbledore had started the reading; he found he could not read any others due to the concerns of his plan and was force to make a resolute decision to meet with Harry, to determine the cause of his rise in academics and relieve him of it, if he wishes for what ever plans he had to work.
Back outside new the lake, Harry and the girls had greeted a visitor that came in the form of an owl from Olivander, who of which Harry had contacted after his wand started to become unresponsive (to a degree) to the spells and the reply from Olivander was:
[Dear Mr. Potter,
After extensive research and application of wand lore knowledge, in conjunction with the findings you have provided me I have concluded that if I were to make a more accurate assessment, I ask that you meet me at Three Broomsticks tavern, during your next Hogsmeade trip and show me the effects first hand, and if it is what I believe then we will take it from their and see if there is any improvement.
May you show great things Harry
Olivander, Wandcrafter and Wandmaker –est. 1888]
Over his shoulders as they read the response, Ginny and Hermione were a little disappointed, knowing that now part of their shopping spree in Hogsmeade this coming weekend was going to be cut short (A.N. yes both girls like a good session of retail therapy, even if Hermione spends all her money on books and other research items), in favor of making the appointment. While unknown to the trio by the lake, as they were now being watched by: Ronald Billus Weasley and scowled at them in a fury that teetered between jealousy and anger, as he saw the attention not being on him, threw the extension of Harry and Hermione (seeing as he ended their friendship because he had not seen the need to keep up with their schoolwork [A.N. stupid? Yes but Ron is unmotivated]), with their triumphs and hiding their faults.
Also watching the trio by the lake was: Albus Dumbledore, who from his vantage point could and read the letter from Olivander, where after doing so he began to panic and he was panicking because, for his plans to work Harry must die and the only way that was possible is if Harry is to use the wand with Holly with Fawkes tail feather, but there was no way of stopping the meeting from taking place and neither Harry or Olivander could bribed into giving up this venture.
Back with Ron as he then stalks off to badger a Gryffindor into a chess match and make them forget about their homework, therefore forcing them to wallow in their defeat long enough to get caught late out with their homework. Now with the new Golden Trio as they head for the Gryffindor tower and freshen up for their next class of Ancient Runes for fourth and Transfiguration fifth year, after they had gotten changed and re-emerged in the Commonroom, with their school course books, writing supplies and backpacks, before they headed of to their classes.
At the same time in the Gryffindor 5th year boys' dorm, Ron who had rejoined the students in catching up with the missed sleep from the night before, was fast asleep and snoring like a chainsaw. Also at the same time Dumbledore was now in the preparations of having Harry brought to him to ask about his academic level in the school, while ascertaining a way to regain his control of over him.
Now as the rest of the classes at Hogwarts went on for the day, with Ron not only gaining his 70th detention (it is what it feels like [A.N. I've lost track]) for not even bothering to arrive for class, while Harry, Ginny and Hermione were now down in the Great Hall, await the start of dinner, where as Harry was also preparing himself to face Dumbledore, who via Pro. McGonagall had asked for his appearance in his office after tea. With tea now only an hour away, Ron finally decided it was time for him to wake up and head down for tea, his stomach had passionately agree and so into the frumpled robes he had slept in, Ron made an appearance next to Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnegan.
Dinner was a fanfare of excited chatter and face stuffing, while three particular Gryffindors were now in the sights of a long grey bearded man, whom wore fuchsia robes, as he channeled wandless magic into his ears to sharpen them, so he could listen into the conversation and then tried to sharpen them further the help of Legitimens, which caused him to be bombarded with visions of mechanical dragons and swans. Leaving himself with more questions than answers, Dumbledore cut the mindlink connection and returned to his food, so he could think.
