Hello! I feel really happy (or hyper) that I'm updating this new chapter finally because I really like it and I'm hoping you do to. I mean I finally get to introduce one of my toughest (and bad in a good way) characters... Zolo! Okay, so after that I'm just going to let you read this :) I really hope you like it and please review.
Disclaimer: I own nothing of Fairy Tail but everything to do with Scarlet Destiny is all mine!
This is going to go very bad. This is going to go very bad. This is going to go very bad...
The mantra repeated itself in Lucy's head a million times as she watched helplessly as Jared made his way towards Scarlet's Destiny most feared member... the 'demon' Zolo. The whole guild was silent (which rarely seem to happen) as Jared took each step towards Zolo with determination.
Lucy quickly turned towards Ren and the others who seem to be watching the scene intensely. The way everyone was acting, it was like that if someone even moved or talked, they would end the world. Lucy couldn't help but think it couldn't be that bad to wake up Zolo... could it?
"Ren... it can't be that bad to wake up Zolo, can it? I mean he is part of this guild, he won't hurt anybody will he?" Lucy asked, fear sneaking into her body.
Ren quickly brought his attention to Lucy and his usual smile was on his face. Okay, so that was a good sign to see Ren smile.
"No. Zolo will never hurt a member of Scarlet Destiny intentionally."
Lucy nodded her head in reply. She was about to leave it at that except she finally took in Ren's last word.
"What do you mean by intentionally?" Lucy spoke slowly and calmly which was the exact opposite reaction to what was going on inside of her. The fear was building up when every moment past.
"The idiot means," Kuro started as he butted in their conversation "that Zolo isn't the most sanest especially in the first minutes after he is woken up. Let's just say that he is not in the right of mind. In other words anything can happen."
Lucy looked at Wendy who seemed confuse but Lucy could see the hint of worry in her eyes. Carla, Happy and Lily had the same emotions as Wendy but mostly they were just confused as they didn't know what Lucy knew. They didn't know that Zolo was called a 'demon' for a reason.
"Okay, so when was the last time Zolo was awake?" Lucy asked.
"Oh, that's easy. The last time that we saw Zolo wake was about last week when he came from his last mission and literally fell asleep on the door-step of Scarlet Destiny. Yeah, Jared and Sarah had to move him. I know it's totally not normal for a person to sleep for a week straight but we've seen Zolo sleep for over three months. Don't ask how he does it because I have no idea. I'm pretty sure it's been at least six months since Zolo has been woken up in front of the guild. Jared and Sarah usually just wake him up in private as Zolo caused a lot of damage. And, by a lot... I mean a lot." Veruna explained quickly as she stood motionless in her spot staring straight at Zolo.
Everyone around her couldn't help but sweat drop. Lucy made a note to herself that she shouldn't ask Veruna any questions. The girl explains it to a depth she really doesn't need to know.
"Hey now, it's going to be okay. Zolo wouldn't hurt anybody. He is a Scarlet Destiny member therefore a friend as well. I know he won't hurt anybody here." Sarah butted in to the conversation speaking in her soft tone.
Wendy opened her mouth to ask why everyone seemed to be scared of this 'Zolo' guy when a cough broke her question. She and Lucy turned to the sound and saw that Jared was hovering over the still unconscious Zolo.
"Sarah's right. Zolo wouldn't do anything," Jared replied with a short smile "I'm going to wake him up now."
Jared bent down and placed both his hands on the white scratchy material of Zolo's shirt. With both of Jared's hand on Zolo's shoulder, he slowly began to shake the man. Lucy breath halted to a stop as she watched Jared's shaking become more persistent. Except... Zolo wasn't waking up.
"Jared, do you need help?" Sarah asked, one hand was up covering her mouth and her shoulders seemed to be shaking with silent giggles. She was finding this funny.
Jared let out a grumbled sound before replying, "I'm fine Sarah. You know that Zolo is a heavy sleeper. It won't take long."
Lucy felt this conversation was so not appropriate for the situation. Didn't the two of them notice that they were waking up a person that was called a 'demon' and even the people in his guild were scared to death of the prospect of him waking up.
The atmosphere was thick with tension. Nearly all members of Scarlet Destiny was holding their breaths in either fear or anticipation. Lucy started unblinkingly as Jared once again started to shake Zolo's shoulders but with much more vigor than before.
Suddenly, Lucy felt it. It was something like a force of some kind but not exactly like that. It was intense and it felt like it was pushing down on her shoulders. She knew she wasn't the only one who was feeling it too. Veruna, the girl who seemed to be always curious was curling in herself. The tea lovers (aka. Rose and Ivy) just stood there stupefied. Kouta looked like he either wanted to bury himself alive or melt into a puddle. In other words, he looked like he wanted to get out of here as fast as he could.
Even Kuro was acting different. His body looked like it was on edge, like every last hair and nerve of his was standing on end. His hands were curled into sharp fist as if that would distract him from the force. The very powerful force.
Ren was also different. The smile was off his face and his teeth was gritted together as if he was trying to focus on something else. He was not acting like himself. Other Scarlet Destiny members (the ones that could move) were slowly stepping back, away from Jared and Zolo. The only people who looked like nothing was affecting them was Sarah and Jared.
The force was strong, suffocating. It didn't exactly feel 'evil' nor did it feel 'good'. It was just this overwhelming thing that was making it hard for Lucy to even think. Wendy and the exceeds were in panic mode, they kept snapping their gaze from Lucy, Ren and the others to Zolo and Jared, where the forced was coming from.
Now, it all made sense. The force wasn't just any force. It was Zolo's magic. A very powerful magic. A magic that at this moment wasn't in control. With this new information it made Lucy feel even more terrified.
She watched without blinking as Zolo slowly but surely started to awaken. His eyes popped open immediately, showing a dark brown color, nowhere close to black but it wasn't a light color either.
In a move Lucy could barely track, Zolo was on his feet, just a few feet away from Jared. Zolo's hand was outstretched and in it was a very sharp, deadly looking sword. It was a dark black color the color of darkness. The hit of the sword was a bright silver color and stood out against the dark color of the blade.
The point of the dark blade was an inch away from Jared's neck. If it was a few more inches forward it would have went through Jared's neck completely.
There was a few moments of silence where everyone was waiting for Jared's reaction...
"Okay! Now, that's the spirit!" Jared said his voice full of enthusiasm.
Everyone's jaws literally drop. Lucy felt like her eyes were going to pop out of its socket. That was not what she was expecting. And, it didn't seem like she was the only one who thought that.
Zolo answered Jared with a grunt before slowly lowering the sword from Jared's neck and slowly sheathing it back in one of the two cases on his side.
"I really hate you and be glad to all heavens that I can't kill you. Did I ever mention that?" Zolo spoke for the first time his voice gruff and deep.
"That's the 207th time and counting. Anyway, I have some very important news." Jared replied quickly completely ignoring the threat.
"Whatever it is, I do not care." Zolo growled his voice close to resemble a wild animal.
"Yeah I know." Jared started dismissively again ignoring Zolo's latest statement "but this is important. I want to introduce you to our newest guild members."
"I don't want to meet the newbies." Zolo spoke lowly, irritation clear in his voice.
"Oh, come on Zolo! You'll really like them and we don't get new members that often. But, we've got five new members." Jared answered.
Then without another word to Zolo, he quickly turned around and pointed out to Lucy who in return froze like a dear caught in headlights.
"That's Lucy with the blonde hair. And, next to her is Wendy. And, the blue cat near her are Happy, the white cat is Carla and the black cat is Lily."
There was a moment of silence where Zolo brought his expressionless brown eyes towards them examining. Not one of them moved an inch at Zolo's gaze. After a few moments which felt like a few agonising hours, Zolo finally brought his gaze back to Jared,
"They're weak," Zolo started sounding like he didn't have a care in the world "You do know that I can at least kill them 101 ways now."
Lucy could feel her heart thud in a quick beat. One part of her filled with anger at Zolo's blunt words about her being weak but the other was still in fear.
"Zolo..." Jared started slowly his voice full of warning.
Zolo let out something akin to a snort before he quickly turned around. Everyone watched as he headed towards a bored full of pieces of papers that was on a raised platform. Zolo reached the bored and seemed to grab one of the papers randomly.
He ripped it off the bored and stalked his way back to Jared silently. Once he reached Jared, Zolo basically shoved the piece of paper in his face.
"I'm going to on this mission." the demand Zolo made was clear.
Jared sighed almost like he was tired of Zolo already and was about to speak but suddenly Sarah interrupted,
"Are you sure you want to? I mean we're having a party for our new members. You can join in as this is why Jared woke you up."
"No. I'm going on this mission." Zolo repeated except his tone was much different. It wasn't exactly soft but it didn't sound that pissed or threatening like it did before.
"Sarah's right. Just so you know there will be alcohol" Jared singed like he was trying to bait a fish.
There was silence like Zolo was considering the proposition.
"No, I'm not staying for the party. I need money to buy more alcohol. I'm going now." Zolo replied slowly his voice was not sounding annoyed anymore. It looked like he was over getting woken up.
"Fine... go."
Zolo moved towards the door that led outside of Scarlet Destiny guild hall. Ever so slowly he made his way just so he was in front of the wall that was next to the gigantic door.
Again Lucy could not track the move. All she saw was two flashes of silver light before a creaking sound made its way to her ears. The red brick wall started to crumble before her very eyes into a pile of slit bricks in front of Zolo. This only took a few seconds and then there was a big gaping hole in front of Zolo that gave the view of the clearing outside of Scarlet Destiny and the vast trees that surrounded it.
Zolo stood in front of the wall motionless, one sword in his hand. This sword was different to the sword he drew against Jared. This one's blade was silver but still the had the same sharp, deadly look as the other one. The hilt of the sword was black with silver diamond shapes along it.
Zolo slowly sheathed the sword back on its dull navy blue case before stepping over the part of brick wall at the bottom that was still intact. Without looking back Zolo leisurely made his way towards the other side of the clearing before getting lost in the shadows of the trees. What Lucy found most stupid and confusing about the situation was that the door to outside was right next to the wall he just cut open like he was cutting butter or something even easier. And, it looks like Lucy wasn't the only one that was confused.
"Why did he cut through the wall when the door is right next to it. He could have just use the door." Carla voiced out clearly confused.
"Yeah... you see every Scarlet Destiny member has a problem with doors. They just have no idea what it is and how they should use it. Zolo is just the one of many that destroy walls here" Jared explained like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Well, Lucy thought, it could have gone more worse. Zolo could have killed or seriously hurt someone.
"What are you going to do about the wall?" Wendy asked wondering how they were going to fixed that.
Jared let another stressed sigh before he mumbled "I know. The unnecessary damage that we cause is unbelievable," he paused his sentence before speaking out loud "Don't worry Wendy. Mia will help here, won't you Mia?"
All attention turned to the little black-haired nine-year old girl who quickly shook off any resident fear and plastered on a small smile, "Sure I will."
Lucy, Wendy and the exceeds wondered how a little girl could fix that big of a whole. It was as wide as the door to Scarlet Destiny itself, and it was at least as tall as the door as well. Mia's twin, Miyah grinned at her sister and yelled a bit too loudly,
"Good luck, Mia. I know you can do it."
Mia nodded her head and smiled at her sister before heading towards the hole. Once she approached the hole she closed her eyes and her breathing slowed down. Everyone watched closely at what was about to happen.
Lucy quickly sneaked a glance at Ren who seemed to be bouncing on the balls of his feet. He was more than overjoyed. Ren noticed Lucy's glance at him so he gave her a bright smile and quickly said,
"Watch carefully Lucy. You'll love this."
Lucy had no doubt that Ren was right. She turned back to Mia just in time to see that all parts of the wall that had been assaulted by Zolo's sword was glowing a light blue color. And, before Lucy could even apprehend it the broken bricks started to levitate. Then, they just started to put themselves together. It was like something was on rewind as the bricks seemed to be fixing themselves, each sliding into the place they were in before. Then finally, the light glow slowly disappeared leaving the wall bare and fixed. There was no damage. There was nothing. It looked just like it did before. It was like Zolo had never cut the wall in the first place.
Happy was the first to break out of the trance of disbelief,
"How did she do that?" he said awestruck.
Mia turned around to face them, a shy smile on her face. It showed that unlike her outspoken sister Miyah, she was much more reserved and quiet.
"I have time magic. Well, I guess only part-time magic. You see, I can turn back time. That's what I did here. I just turned back the clock so that the wall was never cut in the first place. I can also slow things down as well. My magic is all to do with time moving backwards and I can put this mostly on anything."
Silence. No words could describe how full of awe Lucy, Wendy and the exceeds felt.
"Oh, and I have the other half of the time magic," started Miyah as she ran to her sister and grabbed her hand a grin on her face, "I fast forward time. So, with this wall I can move time forward so it turns into dust. I can also fast forward time on anything just like my sister. So, in other words I'm fast and my sister is slow. I fast forward time and she slows it down."
Lucy felt like she should laugh. When she had heard that Scarlet Destiny was full of unique magic they really werent kidding. This was unbelievable. She was sure time magic had been lost for a long time.
"So," Lily stated to speak, "When you said that Scarlet Destiny causes a lot of damage you actually meant..." his voice trailed off as he referred to Jared's earlier sentence.
Jared nodded his head enthusiastically before he said, "Yup we are very, very destructive. Maybe even more than Fairy Tail. Wherever we go destruction is sure to follow. But, unlike Fairy Tail we clear up our mess by the help of Mia. So, we don't get in trouble for it as Mia will just turn back time."
Another moment of silence was present.
"Um, so now that intense moment is over... how about we start that party?" Sarah suggested walking her way to stand next to Jared.
Her answer was followed by loud cheers. It seemed that all the fear that Zolo had created he took with him when he left. The guild seemed to be normal again.
"Yeah, let's party!" Ren shouted loudly about the cheers and demand for alcohol.
"Idiot." Kuro mumbled as he smacked a hand to his forehead. And, unfortunately that idiot was his mission partner.
Lucy didn't know how many hours the party lasted. It was long, that was for sure. She wasn't that much into alcohol or partying but no one seemed to mind as everyone was just having fun.
There was a lot of alcohol which most guild members drowned easily. She was pretty sure she saw Ren drink a lot but even know he still seemed to be sober. It looked like he could hold his alcohol. Kuro also drank a bit but he was now just sitting alone on a chair in peace. Kuro was the opposite of Ren's outwards nature. It looked like he was in to peace, quite and silence.
Kouta wasn't into partying either. He tried to hide from praying eyes by ducking under a table which Wendy found was highly weird but understandable when she was told about his phobia of being seen. Rose and Ivy didn't touch or look at the alcohol and just sat on a blanket drinking tea peacefully. Veruna was around somewhere... Lucy just had no idea where. She was very mysterious.
Lucy was sitting on one of the tables with Happy who was happily eating fish. He had become so ecstatic when he heard that there was a healthy supply of fish here. And, he had at least eaten seven pieces of fish so far. Wendy was on the table with Carla and Lily, the first keeping a key eye on Wendy and the second just sitting and sulking. Lily was a bit interested in Zolo. He seemed like a very skilled swordsman, more than Erza and he wanted to fight against the man.
"Hey, Lucy, Wendy, Happy, Carla and Lily." the shout was from the guild master, Jared as he made his way towards them.
All five heads turned towards him as he made his way to their table with Sarah in his footsteps with a small black box in her hands.
"Aye, Jared. What is it?" Happy asked with fish in his mouth.
"Don't talk with your mouth full." Lucy scolded when bits of fish nearly came out of his mouth.
Happy nodded his head but it looked like he completely ignored Lucy.
"Anyway, now that your Scarlet Destiny members it's time to get the guild mark." Jared announced and Sarah placed the box on the table and opened it to show one stamp.
Wendy was the first to look at it with confusion,
"Why is there only one stamp? I mean, shouldn't there be loads of stamps in different colors?" Wendy asked.
Sarah and Jared looked at each other and smiled like they knew an inside secret.
"Oh, the reason for that is because our guild stamp is a bit more different to others. Basically, it chooses the color for you. We just stamp this on and automatically it will be in the color that most suits you. It will be in a color that will speak plenty of words."
"That's right." Kuro suddenly said as he materialized next to Lucy silently which caused her to squeaked out in shock.
"Did I scare you?" Kuro asked and Lucy shouted back,
"Of Course you did!"
That then caused the attention of Ren who stomped to the table and next to Kuro and glaring at him,
"Lucy, is goth boy here annoying you? I can get rid of him."
"As if you can idiot."
"Shut it, weirdo. I'm stronger than you and I will prove it."
"Bring it fish boy!"
Unfortunately for them Lucy butted in loudly,
"Stop fighting both you!"
They both turned to Lucy and a solemn look on their faces.
"Yes, Lucy" they both chimed together but when they both made eye-contact at each other they glared.
Lucy was surprised. No one really listened to her like that.
"Anyway, what were you going to say before?" Wendy asked Kuro curiously.
"Oh that." Kuro started, "this is what Jared means when he said it chooses the color for you." and then Kuro turned around lifted his black shirt from the back high until a tattoo mark was revealed.
Scarlet Destiny guild mark was different to any Lucy, Wendy and the Exceeds had ever seen. On one side it looked like just a bunch of scribbles unconnected and not important. But, that was the first glance. Once you stared at it for a few seconds it just suddenly made sense. Each and every line was connected. There was a wonky shaped 'S' colored in a the middle of the pattern, standing for 'Scarlet'. But then like a crisscross or an 'X' diagonally across the 'S' was a 'D' standing for 'Destiny'. In this way it was almost like an illusion as you could either see the 'S' or the 'D' but it was hard to see both at the same time.
Around the 'S' and 'D' was the top half of a love heart, starting form the middle of the 'S' and ending at the middle of the 'D' on the other side. The bottom half just had two simple lines, parallel to each other going from one side of the 'S' to the other side of the 'D'. And, that was all it was. A seemingly easy but yet very difficult guild mark.
Kuro's guild mark was black. A very dark black like his hair and eyes and this color did suit him. It stood out on his deathly pale skin and it was just what represented him. This presentation made Lucy, Wendy and the exceeds fully understand.
"So, now that you see, shall we stamp it on?" Jared asked as he looked at the four of them. His reply was four nods and an 'Aye'.
Sarah took the stamp in her hands and moved to Lucy first.
"Where do you want it?" Sarah asked gently.
Lucy thought about it for a few seconds. There were so many places but eventually one became apparent that this was the place that should be used.
"My right shoulder."
It was the right place. She usually wore some what revealing clothes anyway so people would be able to see it. Plus, she thought it was different to wear she had the Fairy Tail mark.
Sarah nodded her hand and slowly moved the stamp to Lucy's right shoulder. Lucy pushed down the strap of her top enough so Sarah could mark the place. Lucy felt the cool stamp pressing on her shoulder and for a second she wondered what color it would be. Hopefully something she liked.
When she felt Sarah remove the stamp she quickly looked down and stared. The marks color was not what she expected. It was a golden-yellow color and yet it wasn't either. It was much more bright yet dark enough that you could see it. It was beautiful. She heard Wendy exclaim how pretty it was but Lucy didn't focus on it. All the attention was on the guild mark. It felt like it completed her.
Wendy was next. She wanted it on the inside of her forearm somewhere different from the previous two. She couldn't help but think what color it would be just like Lucy. Her color was amazing too. It was a green color, not exactly like the color when she would heal someone because it was much darker and more beautiful. It was a bit like Kouta's hand when he healed someone.
Happy's guild mark was on his back just like Carla and Lily's would be. His guild mark was a dark navy blue color so it stood out against his fur yet matched it at the same time. Carla's was a platinum silver color so it was see-able on her white fur and like Happy's it stood out and captured attention. Finally, Lily's turned out to be a strange one. His guild mark was a hazel brown color, very light but still stood out against his black fur. No one knew why the color was what it was but they liked it nevertheless.
Jared and Sarah left after saying they needed to put the stamp away. The last thing they needed was for it to get lost in party mayhem.
"Okay, look here." Ren said as he dug into his blue jeans and pulled out a piece of paper and put it in front of Lucy.
She quickly looked at it in interest and saw it was a mission. A very hard one. It was to catch a group of thieves that were causing mayhem and the money for it was 250,000. A very good price. But, it said that some of the thieves may have magic. Lucy looked at Ren who seemed to look at her in anticipation.
"Ren, we can't go on this." Lucy said.
"Eh, why not?"
"I don't have to explain why not."
There was a moment of silence.
"You're right, we can't go on this." pause, and Lucy couldn't help but sigh. This mission was way too hard for a first one. Hell, it will be some time before she will go on such a mission.
"This mission is way too easy. I'll get a harder one." Ren said oblivious to Lucy's thoughts.
Lucy let out a shriek and glared at Ren.
"NO! This is way too hard. I'm not going on this for a first mission."
Ren put on a pout that could have put Happy's to shame. In other words it was weakening Lucy's defensive system.
"Fine." Lucy grumbled not really happy with this.
"Yes! Our first mission here we come!" Ren shouted out loud.
And this chapter is done! I hoped you like it and please review so I know what you think. It will not be long now (only one my chapter) before I will go on a little time skip and Fairy Tail and Scarlet Destiny will come together. For now, stay tuned for more!
See yh later!
