Hello and welcome to this chapter. Thanks for all the reviews for the last chapter, they made me really happy. Anyway, like I said I'm updating this week again but this chapter will be a little different from my last few. In other words, it's going to be more emotional and this chapter also has a surprise for you at the end of this. So, please read and enjoy.
Disclaimer: I own nothing of Fairy Tail but Scarlet Destiny is all mine :)
One month since last time skip.
Wendy took a deep breath as she raised her hand in a fist to knock in front of the brown wooden oak door in front of her. She was in a long hallway, the wallpaper bright white, and no furniture in sight. At the end of the hallway on the right-hand side was a spiralling staircase which lead to the unknown. There was only one door and Wendy was standing in front of it.
The sound of her hand knocking against the wooden door bounced throughout the doorway. Wendy was really nervous about why she was called here. Carla wasn't with her and she was all alone. Wendy took another deep breath to calm down her playing nerves.
"Come in!" a voice shouted from the other side of the closed-door.
The shout caused her nerves to jump up in fright. She really needed to get a grip. There was nothing to be nervous about.
Wendy gripped the cold door knob of the door in her sweaty palms. Slowly, she twisted it and opened the door entering the room. The room was massive, split in half with a short staircase on the left hand side that lead to a balcony that overlooked the bottom half of the room. The balcony followed the room shape so it was almost like there was another room on top.
One of the most notable items were the book. There were so many. Each of them were stacked above each other, next to each other, on long shelves that surrounded the room. The book shelves were stacked fully, not a single space on them and reached just to the bottom of where the balcony began. On top of the balcony was another round of book shelves leaning against the walls just like the shelves at the bottom. In front of Wendy as soon as she had opened the door, so it was opposite to her were big, spanned windows. Light flooded through the windows that gave the room a glowing, peaceful look.
In front of the windows, just a few feet apart was a desk. The desk was a large rectangle shape and it was a dark brown colour. Most people would expect the top of the desk to be a mess but it was just the opposite of that. The desk was spotless, with only a few papers that was spread out which a person was writing on. This person was sitting on a chair behind the desk. The person looked up from writing with a quill pen and looked at Wendy. Then, a big smile broke out on his face.
"Ah, your here Wendy!" Jared explained as he let go of the quill pen he was writing with.
Then he quickly got off his chair and walked around the desk and sat on top of the desk in front of the chair. Wendy moved forwards in the room looking around the room in amazement. This was not the first time she had seen Jared's study/office room but overtime she looked at the room she couldn't help but stare in amazement. The room was just so beautiful, the way the sunlight streams in the room, the way the only sound was the tick of a clock that was stuck high above the door. Even the smell of the room, the fresh book smell was wonderful.
"You really shouldn't look that shell-shocked any more Wendy. I'm pretty sure this is at least the tenth time you've seen my study room." Jared laughed as he leaned forward to Wendy who was standing just a feet away from him and staring up at him.
"I know Jared...it's just this room is so beautiful. I really love it!"
Wendy wasn't only the only one. The first time Lucy saw Jared's study room she was very overwhelmed. She couldn't believe how many books were in the room. It was like a mini library. And, when she had went to one of the book shelves to see what books there were Lucy couldn't even recognise some of them. The one's she did recognise were very rare and were known to be highly expensive. When Jared noticed how interested Lucy were in the books he told her that many of them were Sarah's. Sarah loved book as it kept her calm (for what reason Lucy had no idea) and if Lucy wanted to borrow the books to read she could. Lucy had held that offer up.
"I know the room I nice. I think it's the amount of book that surprises everyone." Jared commented as his gaze started to wonder over the book shelves.
"It is... anyway, why did you call me here?" Wendy asked curiously.
She had been called up to Jared's study just a few minutes ago when Sarah had told her to go up to Jared's study room as he wanted to discuss with her something of great important.
"Oh, yes, I really need to talk to you about something important." Jared announced as he moved a hand up to his head to run it through his thick black hair.
"What is so important?" Wendy questioned.
"Well, I heard that you've been going on mission with Ren, Lucy and Kuro?"
That was correct. Wendy had only be going on missions with Ren, Lucy and Kuro. She didn't go on that many missions when she did she always tagged along with them and none of them minded that she did. Carla would also come with her and she was really grateful of that. She really loved Carla and she loved how much Carla supported her. Although, Wend had yet to go on a mission by herself or with just Carla. Wendy would usually be in the infirmary with Kouta who had gotten used to her by now. He could take Wendy looking at him but only for a limited amount of time. Wendy was learning more about medicine from Kouta who had willingly agreed to teach Wendy about the subject when she had asked him.
"That's right." Wendy replied.
"Okay, well that's what I wanted to talk to you about."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean," Jared stopped for a second to take a deep breath "I want you to take Kouta as a permanent mission partner."
For a minuet Wendy's brain just stopped as she stood still very shocked. She didn't know why Jared has suddenly just asked her to do that. And, Wendy was going to find out why.
"Why do you want me to make Kouta my mission partner?" Wendy asked.
"Well, you see Wendy Kouta joined Scarlet Destiny four years ago. And, did you know since he joined the guild four years ago he had not once left the guild since. Kouta has never gone on a mission...Ever. I think since he joined he had only gone till the outskirts of the dark forest and that's as far as he gotten. It's because of Kouta's phobia that he has never really left this guild." Jared paused for a second to let this knowledge sink in.
Wendy couldn't help but feel terrible and so sad for Kouta. It seemed that Kouta's phobia was really pulling him down, stopping him from doing lots of things. She really hated that it did that to him since she had gotten so close to Kouta lately.
"I'm asking you to be his mission partner because over this past month I've noticed how close you have gotten with Kouta. Despite, Kouta's phobia, he can talk to you and communicate with you more than any member we have, that includes me and Sarah." Jared explained.
"I understand what your saying...But what makes you think that I and Kouta would make a good team?" Wendy questioned. She wasn't that sure about making a real team with Kouta. She had never been a real team before except from with Carla. What made Jared think that she could do good with Kouta?
"Apart from the fact that you may be the only person that can actually get Kouta to leave this guild to go on a mission, well, you and him also have your magic in common. This helped you bond as I know Kouta has taught you about medicine. Listen Wendy, you don't have to accept my proposal but I want you too. I believe you can help Kouta finally get over his phobia. I can't tell you how Kouta got this phobia because that is the story for him to tell but I will tell you that the story isn't a happy one. Although, Kouta may not show it...he's been through a lot. Something's a boy his age should never have to go through. You can help Kouta stand up for himself. I really believe that you can." Jared explained.
"Oh." was Wendy's only reply. She had no idea what else to say. She never realized how much Kouta could have gone through for him to get this phobia.
Jared turned around to his desk and reached for one of the papers that he was using before. The paper was yellow and ripped up a bit at both ends but it was still intact. Jared stretched out his arm towards Wendy and handed the yellow paper over to her. Wendy gripped the paper between her tiny hands and studied the paper. Her eyes widened when she realized what it was.
"It's a mission. I picked this one for your's and Kouta first mission if you accept to be his mission partner. I picked this because it's focused on Kouta's and yours power. The mission is to heal this noble women. No one knows what's wrong with her and no one can heal her from this illness that she has. Their paying 200,000 for her to healed from this illness. It's right up yours and Kouta's alley." Jared explained.
"This would be a good first mission." Wendy commented distractedly as she studied the paper.
"It is...except there is one problem with this mission." Jared replied.
"What?" Wendy said quickly sounding shock.
"Well, Kouta can heal many things. He can heal all parts of a body except for one part. Kouta can't heal wound's to the heart. If the heart is affected with either an illness or a wound then Kouta can't heal it. It's the one thing his healing magic doesn't work on."
"So, are you saying that this noble women may have something wrong with her heart?" Wendy asked. She now knew the one weakness Kouta has with his healing magic. She didn't know herself is she could heal a heart. She never had to heal anything that important before.
"There is a chance that this women can have a wound to the heart. If she does...Kouta can't heal her and there may be a chance she may die. And, if this is the case then most of what Kouta has for confidence will shatter. I don't want that for him. But, this is the only mission I've seen that is perfect for Kouta and you as well. I guess this is a risk... But, I want Kouta to go on this mission. I want Kouta to get stronger regardless of this missions outcome. I want him to be able to conquer his fear. The thing is I have no idea if your willing to take the mission." Jared stopped his explanation and waiting for Wendy's decision.
Jared didn't wait long.
"I understand and I decided I want to be Kouta's mission partner. I want to go on this mission. It will be right too. And, I think it would be great to be Kouta's mission partner." Wendy said with a big smile.
Jared grinned back at her.
"I'm glad you agreed with me. And, you don't have to worry about telling Kouta. I'll tell him about this. Also, you don't have to worry about leaving Carla either. I've already told her about getting into a mission group with you and Kouta. And she agreed as long as you accepted it as well." Jared replied.
"I hope this mission goes well." Wendy replied as she looked down at the mission paper.
One week later.
Lucy eyes started to slide open and she came face to face with a white ceiling. Yawning loudly, she pushed herself into a sitting position despite how much her limbs protested. She was in a big room, just the right width for her to have room to move about. She was sitting on a double bed, the blanket a soft pink colour which matched the colour of the wallpaper which was a darker pink.
Lucy's room had a large desk pushed to the far side of the room, opposite the door. Next to Lucy's big bed was a little coubred and on top of that were a pile of papers. These papers were a manuscript that Lucy was working on, a work that no one would read.
The room Lucy was residing in was one of Scarlet Destiny guild bedrooms. All Scarlet Destiny members slept in different bedrooms that was part of the guild. They did this so it kept a special bond between the team-mates.
The bedroom didn't cost that much. It was about 20,000 more than the apartment Lucy had to pay for. One of the things Lucy knew that was different was that she never had to worry that much about paying the rents. Ren may muck up missions but Kuro always knew how to rectify his mistakes.
The room much like all things in Scarlet Destiny was in a tree that was on the left side of the main entrance into the guild. When Lucy had asked about the tree thing and Scarlet Destiny Sarah was the one to explain it to her. Scarlet Destiny had two defence systems just in case anyone decided to attack them. The first was the tree. The tree is just an illusion. It protects Scarlet Destiny as most people will be alluded to think the guild isn't even in the dark forest as there are just trees. Sarah explained it in the few simple words,
"You can't attack what you can't see, can you?"
When Lucy had enquired about the second defence system, Sarah had just smiled and giggled at her. She then said to Lucy that their was no reason for her to know about the second defence system. No one has ever gotten that far into damaging the Scarlet Destiny guild. Sarah had also added on that she hoped no one would ever be able to activate the second defence system anyway
Lucy's room was filled with darkness. It was mostly because it was the middle of the night. Lucy couldn't really concentrate on anything but she couldn't help but wonder what had woken her up. She was usually a heavy sleeper and didn't really wake up unless something big caused her too.
Then, Lucy felt it. It was like this deep urge within her stomach. Like someone or something was telling her that she needed to leave here. To go outside into the cold air. Lucy had no idea what this feeling was. She waited a few moment for it to disappear but instead it felt like it was growing inside of her like a tree. That it was making her feel that she had to leave.
Before, Lucy knew what she was doing she was changing out of her night-clothes into a tank top with a jacket and long blue jeans. Lucy made her way outside of Scarlet Destiny's guild room almost like she was a puppet being pulled by an unknown puppeteer. She had no idea what this feeling was but it was so weird.
Her skin instantly reacted when the cold night air hit her when she stepped outside her guild bedroom. Goosebumps broke out on to her skin where the air touched it. It was freezing cold. It must have be midnight, Lucy had to guess as the moon was high up in the sky, full and illuminating.
Lucy started to move. She had no idea where she was going but it was like her legs had a mind of its own. It was leading her somewhere. The more she trekked deeper into the dark forest the more the feeling sprouted inside of her.
What was happening? Lucy thought yet there was no answer to this question. She just felt like she had to follow these invisible directions. She had to get there. Except she had no idea where 'there' was.
Finally, Lucy found her pathway, as two tress parted for her and she entered a clearing not that big, maybe the size of large ballroom. Green grass shined in the moonlight and swayed in the light breeze. In the moonlight this clearing looked really beautiful.
Lucy knew instantly she wasn't alone in this clearing. Because, she caught sight of a figure sitting on the grass. She knew instantly who it was. Lucy could not mistaken that fiery hair anyway. The hair that was on fire itself.
"Keahi?" Lucy whispered as she moved forwards towards him.
Keahi whipped his head towards her and his eyes widened just the tiniest bit and a smile broke out on his face.
"Oh, hey Lucy." Keahi said with a smile.
And, like the spell had been broken Lucy felt like she was herself again.
"What do you mean 'oh, hey Lucy'?!" Lucy said louder than necessary "Why the hell are you so calm? How are you out here? I didn't call you out!"
"I don't need you to call me out here. As soon as the contract was done between us I am now allowed to travel between your dimension and mine any time I wish as long as you have my key in your possession." Keahi explained.
"Yeah, that would be nice information to know about a few weeks ago." Lucy grumbled as she stomped towards Keahi and sat down on the grass next to him.
"Sorry, I forget." Keahi replied sheepishly rubbing the back of his fire hair looking like it didn't even effect him.
"Okay, so let me guess... Your also responsible for this feeling before like I had to get here, aren't you?" Lucy said as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Yeah, it's part of the bond that we made when we did the contract. We're connected now so when I am away from you outside in this world you'll feel this pull. Don't worry it will go soon." Keahi said as he looked up at the sky.
"Again, I seriously could have known that before." Lucy grumbled yet again but she too follow Keahi's gaze and looked up at the sky.
It was a weird night. The moon was so bright yet strong and the only source of lightness in the sky. There were no stars out. Nothing. Just the moon wrapped around a dark blanket.
"What are you doing out here?" Lucy asked as her eyes were still concentrated on the sky.
"Remembering." Keahi replied.
Lucy snapped her gaze to Keahi and stared at him confused.
"Remembering what?" she questioned.
Keahi sighed before tearing his attention from the night sky and looking at Lucy.
"Jared told you about my story, right?"
"Yeah, he did." Lucy replied.
"I was remembering that. My past. I was remembering what I had lost."
"I-I'm sorry I nev-"
"Don't apologize. Don't say sorry because their's nothing to apologize for. I've come to terms with it now."
"I don't believe that. Jared told me that you love your...siblings." Lucy said the last words almost like she was treading on deep waters.
"You don't have to talk to me like I'm going to break at any moment. You can say about my brothers and sisters."
"You know I heard about your past from Jared but I haven't heard it from you." Lucy said before suddenly she started to panic "but you don't have to talk about it if you don't want too." Lucy said as she waved her hands back and forth in front of her "I just think it's good to get things off your shoulders."
Keahi smiled softly before looking up at the moon yet again.
"Me and my brothers and sisters lived under this moon a very long time ago. We were the most powerful demons there were at the time. We tried to rule in justice, peace and I know this may sound cheesy but also love. We have no idea why the lower-life demons took control. Maybe they hated the way we rule, maybe they thought that me and my brothers were never fair, kind or just or maybe they were just greedy for power. Whatever, the reason they came after us." Keahi explained.
"What happened?"
"We didn't expect them. One moment everything was fine and then all these demons came flooding in to our home. They had deadly weapons which actually caused me and my siblings pain. Too much pain. Me and my siblings got separated. There was so much mayhem and I couldn't control it. I didn't even know what was going on. Later, I understood what happened. The revolt that was planned against us, what happened to my siblings. The most hurtful thing was that I had no time to grieve. I had no time to mourn for my lost. I had to stop the low-life demons from ruling. I had to get rid of them because I knew the consequences of what would happen if they took control. I didn't have any time. I mean I didn't have any time to even say goodbye to my siblings." Keahi explained.
Lucy looked at Keahi, tears brimming in her eyes. She had no idea how sad this moment was for Keahi. How much pain he had gone through.
"Me and my siblings were very close. We loved each other very much just like Jared had told you. I love them to bits. Yes, we fought and had arguments but that was nothing compared to the moments we got along. I wished sometimes that I could have said those three words more to them...I love you'. That may be sappy but it's true when they say you don't really know what you have until you lose it. I lost the very people who meant the world to me. That I would do anything for no question asked. And, I didn't even get to say that simple goodbye to them."
"Keahi...You'll find them soon." Lucy said trying to give Keahi some hope.
"I used to think that too. As soon as I trapped myself in that separate dimension the only thing that really kept me going is my siblings. The dimension I live in now, is barren, empty. Just filled with darkness. There is no light. I knew that is what I got by trapping myself into that dimension. But...I had hoped that if I found my siblings I could connect out worlds that we got forced into and make something new...I don't know. I really thought that was what would happen. Then, I found out about the curse." Keahi stopped for a second.
Silence. Lucy had no idea what to do. Keahi looked so sad so forlorn she had never seen this kind of emotion on a guy before.
"I would kill everyone who ever got my key and could get me. Good or bad, it didn't matter. I would kill them. I would become friends with the people who had my key and then I would kill them also affecting the fact that I would never get to see my brothers and sisters. I have no idea why I would kill them but I just did. It's like this switch being flick and all I can think, all I can do is just kill them."
"Keahi, I-"
"I think that's what going to happen to you Lucy. I think that in the end you won't find any of my sisters or brothers keys and that I would be forced to kill you." Keahi said with regret.
Lucy had no idea how to reply. How could she reply to something like that?
"But," Keahi stated again "You have something that the other Celestial Wizards that had me don't have. You have them. You have Scarlet Destiny."
Keahi tore his gaze away from the moon and towards Lucy's brown eyes,
"Scarlet Destiny will help you find the keys. It looks like they would help you in any way possible. I mean Ren looks like he would move mountains and volcanoes in it would make you happy." Keahi commented.
At once Lucy's cheeks turned bright red.
"N-no! Ren would never do that!" Lucy shouted out.
Keahi chuckled and then mumbled a sentence Lucy couldn't catch.
"Anyway," Keahi said getting back on the subject "I think you will my find my siblings keys. I think you will survive. With Scarlet Destiny's help you will do it even if it is on you own as well. I truly believe you will find my siblings."
Lucy couldn't help but smile at that. Then an idea popped into her head. She jumped off the ground onto her feet, and looked down at Keahi while he looked up at her.
"Keahi!" Lucy shouted "I know I will have to find your siblings key's but I'm not thinking just about myself. I want to find you siblings keys for you. I want to reunite you with your siblings. So, from here on out I promise that I will find your siblings keys no matter what."
"Lucy, you can't-"
"I can and I have. Keahi you deserve your happy ending. I'm going to find it and give it to you."
Lucy held her hand out for Keahi to shake. She wanted for him to accept her deal. She knew she could do this because it was for a friend. Keahi looked at her hand then to her eyes then back to her hands. Slowly, he raised his hands up until he closed it around Lucy's hand.
"I can't explain how happy I am now, Lucy. Thank you so much." Keahi said a grin had broken out on his face.
"Like, I said you deserve it. I will find your siblings keys. I will!"
The place where the sun never shine, where night haunts the days, and where evil will always reside.
He walked back and forwards leisurely waiting. He hated waiting. His body was filled with anger. How dare that creäture make him wait!
"Master! Master! I'm here." shouted out a voice through the hallow corridor.
He turned around towards the pitiful shout. A sloppy, unkempt, lanky man ran through the corridor towards him looking weak and undeserving. He had a maw-hark and a light beard both a dark black colour.
"Slave!" he shouted "What possibly took you so long!?"
"Uh, Master, I-you see there are many corridors in this mansion and this is my first time here so-"
"ENOUGH" he shouted "I will not here any more of your pitiful excuses, slave."
"H-hey I have a name you know." his slave said with a bit of courage.
"Your name is slave! You have sold your right of having a name when you joined us." he commented.
Then, he turned towards the huge marble door he was waiting in front of. The marble door had writing all over it, a language that the slave could not read or possibly understand. He however understood. He understood it all.
"A-are we going to go in?" his slave stuttered.
"We are indeed," pause "though, I feel obliged to give you some warning before we go in. You must under no circumstances look at the Lord. If you look even the slightest you will not live to see another day."
"O-oh..Your serious, right?" the slave asked foolishly.
"I am serious. I do not joke." he replied feeling an tremendousness feeling to kill his slave right then and there. His slave did not have the right to be in the presence of his lord. Yet, there was no time to find a new slave for now.
He pushed open the marble doors revealing a huge room, long and bleak. There were three chandeliers hanging from the ceiling casting a light glow over the dark room. The room was carved out of the most thickest of marble, gold in colour, shining. There were sheets hanging from the ceiling over the top walls, black in colour like the darkness his lord like so very much.
He marched in to the room until he was at the middle of the room and knelt forward on one knee. He dared not look up at his head was straight down as he knew his Lord was in front of him sitting in a mighty throne his Lord so rightfully deserved.
His slave came stumbling into the room, less than graceful, his footsteps thundering and annoying. He took his masters warning into account and knelt just behind his master not looking up.
"Lord," he said shortly.
"Ah, I see you have arrived." replied a voice his voice deep and majestic but the malice and evilness was present in his voice.
"I have indeed my lord. As soon as your message came to me I have come to you just as you have asked."
"Oh, and I see you have brought a fool along."
"H-"
"DO NOT SPEAK IN FRONT OF THE LORD!" he shouted as he his eyes were still trained on the floor "You have no right to talk in front of the Lord." Pause "I apologize for my slave. He has yet to learn any manners or etiquettes."
"It is no concern. I'm sure you will beat it into your new slave for sure."
"I will indeed," he replied "why have you summoned me here my Lord?"
"I have summoned you as I plan to begin. We will start it soon."
"How soon my Lord?"
"Start at this very moment."
"I will do this at once my Lord."
"I want them all to bow down to me."
"I know my Lord. And, they will. It is a right for all to obey you, worship you, fear you. Not one person on this earth will defy you. If there will be I will destroy them."
"Yes! That is what I want! I want them all to kneel at my feet!"
"And, as I said it will happen. All will pay just as you have planned."
"Good. Then go. Do as I commend. Make the world know who I am and how I will rule them all."
"Yes, my lord!" he cried out.
He was about to leave when suddenly his Lord spoke again,
"Your slave...he looked at me!"
"What-I didn't-"
"You have! How dare you look at me you pitiful creäture!?"
"I didn't-" his slave started to protest.
"You have done me great wrong! I am going to rip you apart!"
"Wait...Lord..Forgive me! It was only a small glance! I barley saw you! Forgive me!" his slave cried and he heard his slave stand up in a rush.
"There is no forgiveness for those who look at me. You will die!"
He heard the rustling of his Lords clothes as his Lord must have stood up from his throne. A waste of energy. He heard his slave footsteps as he started tor run. He didn't hear his Lord move but he knew his Lord must have already left, going to destroy his slave.
"You shouldn't have run. They always run. You shouldn't have disobeyed my warning. My Lord will never let you go. He loves when they run. He loves the chase. It makes the kill even more fun." he whispered to no one in particular.
Deafening screams rang throughout the room. The origin was his servant. The screams got louder, higher until it was all he could hear. Suddenly, they abruptly stopped. He knew his slave was now gone. Dead. It seemed he now had to look for a new one.
And, done! So what did you think? Didn't suspect that as your surprise ending to your time-skip did you? I hoped you liked the little taste to my own villains in this story. What did you think of it? I really liked writing this chapter a lot. So, next chapter Scarlet Destiny and Fairy Tail will come together at last. Anyone guess how?
Anyway, I really hope you review!
Till next time...See yh!
