Chapter 18: (Part 2)

(Dimitri P.O.V)

Cream coloured flowers decorated every available surface of the church. It was big – bigger than big actually. Hundreds of pews lined either side of the aisle, and people were now settling themselves into their seats. I stood on a small platform, along with the priest, as I waited for my soon-to-be wife to walk through the large wooden doors.

I tried to keep my heart from beating out of my chest as the music began to play for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Eddie and Jill walked through the door first, followed by Mikhail and Sonya, who in turn, were followed by Lissa and Christian. It's not that I wasn't happy to see them, but my eyes were travelling over their heads to attempt to get a glimpse at my beautiful Roza or my daughter.

The song changed, and my princess entered the room; her presence drew people's gazes exactly the same way her mother's always did – though it was always unknowing. Rose's beauty was something that just simply could not escape anyone's notice; something she had passed on to our daughter.

Rosie's face was lit up with an adorable smile. She tossed small white flower petals from her little wooden basket as she skipped up the aisle to meet me. I opened my arms for her as she reached me and gave her a big hug, before letting her scurry over to Lissa's side.

A movement at the bottom of the church drew my attention back to the doors.

My beautiful Roza stood on the opposite side of the room, her mother and father on either side of her. I struggled to continue breathing and keep my cool as they began their slow walk through the aisle. I couldn't help but let me eyes wander down her body and notice how amazing she looked in her cream-colored, high lo wedding dress. As she came close enough, I found my eyes locking with hers, and I was a goner. Immediately, I was cast under her spell, as I knew I would be for the rest of my days.

Her hazel eyes met my dark ones and she bit her luscious lip. I gulped and fought the urge to kiss her right there and then, remembering that we were in a room full of people – all of whom were watching as Abe helped Rose stand onto the alter beside me and placed her hand in mine.

With a nod to me and a kiss on his only daughter's cheek, he and Rose's mother stepped down off the platform and joined the onlookers.

As the priest began to address the public, I edged myself closer to my soon to be wife.

"Friends and family," he began. "We are here today to celebrate the marriage between Rosemarie Hathaway and Dimitri Belikov. This is a day where we come together to celebrate the special love that these two people share…"

"You look beautiful," I whispered to Rose. From the corner of my eye, I could see her lips turn up into a small smile.

"You don't look so bad yourself, comrade."

I made a small promise to myself that I would make sure she'd regret making that comment later on, but now was not the time. I tried to tune back in to what the priest was saying.

Rose and I didn't directly speak to one another until the priest addressed us; although the whole time I had held her warm hand in mine. It was a simple gesture, but one that meant a lot.

"Dimitri," he said. "Do you take Rosemarie to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forth, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," I answered, not a hint of doubt in my voice. I had never been so sure of anything in my life.
He turned to Rose.

"Rosemarie, do you take Dimitri to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forth, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," Rose replied, no hesitation in her voice.

"Could I have the rings?" the priest called softly.
