Shizuo opened his eyes slowly, as his senesces slowly began to focus the first thing he saw was a black feather floating to the floor. As a fading laugh reached his ears two pale shaking hands wrapped gently around the falling ebony quill, stopping it's decent to the crimson stained floor. "I-Izaya?" the blonde asked shakily, his voice a bit raw, his ears ringing slightly. Said raven turned around quickly, his tears stopping momentarily from the shock of seeing Shizuo awake. "Shizu-chan!" he shouted, embracing the ex-bartender. Shizuo stiffened, startled by the sudden attack before he slowly relaxed and returned the embrace, his mind still trying to process what was going on. "W-was it all… just a dream?" Izaya paused, suddenly looking uncomfortable, a first for him. "Not quite." he answered awkwardly.
It took Izaya several hours but he was able to explain all the events that had taken place. From Izaya's long time crush on the blonde, to Shizuo's painful insult leading to Izaya committing suicide, to his time spent in the Shinigami realm… his time spent with Azrael… everything. Izaya had wound up crying when he spoke of Azrael, the child-like Shinigami who gave up his existence to give the two of them a second chance, so they could be together…
Once the raven had calmed down, Shizuo informed him about his encounter with the blue eyed boy in his dreams, only now after hearing Izaya's tale was he able to piece together the reason for the boys strange request for the blonde to commit suicide.
"I guess we own him a thank you…" Shizuo said, uncharacteristically gentle as he wrapped his arms around the crimson eyed informant. Izaya nodded his agreement, turning his head from the ex-bartenders shoulder to stare sadly at the black feather he had placed on the nightstand. He swore that he would never forget the bluenette, the one person who had shown him that not everyone was afraid to be his friend, and the one person willing to give up their very existence for him to have a chance to be happy…
Ikebukuro; One year later: 12:01 p.m.
They had done it, Izaya and Shizuo had been together for an entire year without killing each other. Of course they still fought, but what couple didn't? Then again, what couple threw knives and vending machines at each other?
Today, however, happened to be one of the calm and peaceful days. A day where Izaya and Shizuo simply enjoyed being alive, admiring the day and just relaxing. The couple had just left Russia Sushi when something caught the ravens eye… For a moment he could have sworn he saw a flash of blue hair… but as he looked around, searching the crowed he was unable to see any sign of it… How strange…
"Izaya?" Shizuo interrupted his boyfriends musing, "Is something wrong? You don't usually space out like that. You feeling okay flea?" The raven shook his head, it must have been his imagination. After all, it was their anniversary… "Nothing, don't worry about it brute… Hey, Shizu-chan! I've got a great idea, lets go get some ice cream~" "Seriously!? You just ate! Keep it up and you're gonna get fat." Izaya pouted before sticking his tongue out. "But that was just lunch, everyone has to have dessert~"
Izaya smiled happily as he skipped away, followed by a grumbling Shizuo, both completely unaware of a pair of bright blue eyes following their retreating forms.
The End ?
