Chapter 8
The students at Hogwarts were all panicking. Dumbledore had just announced that Hogwarts was no longer safe and that they need to evacuate. "Calm down!" Lavi told his class. "I'm not sure what exactly is going on, but, can everyone please stay calm and follow me?" The class managed to calm down, but they still had worried looks on their faces. "Okay good. You guys calmed down a bit. Now follow me!" Lavi and the class left the room.
Outside everyone was panicking and wondering what was happening. One of the first years even burst out in tears. All the students were trying to get out as soon as possible. The words; 'Hogwarts is no longer safe' kept playing over in their heads. If Hogwarts isn't safe anymore, then what is? Even Dumbledore sounded nervous when he made that announcement. Lavi got his class outside easily with no hassle. Outside, McGonagall was waiting. "Everyone follow me! Professor Lavi, this is your whole class, correct?"
"Yes, Ma'am. I also got a few extra students with me that weren't sure where to go."
"Thank you."
"Should I go back inside and see if I can find more students?"
"No… It's unfortunate to say but we've run out of time. We've saved as many students as we can and we should be proud that we did. Don't go back in there…" Lavi could see that it was for McGonagall to say something like that.
"Y-yes Professor…"
They continued walking until they got to the train station, once there, McGonagall gave him a scroll. "You're in charge of the fifth years. Call out their names and tell me if there's anyone that isn't here."
"Yes Professor. Fifth years follow me please! All fifth years follow me!" The fifth years all followed Lavi to a spot and he begun to call out their names. After having done that, he reported back to McGonagall. "Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, and Allen Walker are all missing."
"Including everyone else there are about thirteen students missing… I'd say that we did rather well. Now we just have to get everyone on the train."
"But what about the missing students?"
"Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about that." It was Dumbledore.
There was something about his face that made Lavi feel uneasy. "Do you mean that they're all dead?"
"Fortunately not. Instead, they are merely trapped in what we might call a separate dimension."
"What do you mean, Professor?"
Dumbledore pointed in the direction of the castle. "Look." He said.
Lavi did as he was told and what he saw, shocked him. The castle was enveloped by a great black orb of nothingness. There were still some parts of the castle visible, but most of it was completely covered. "Is that a RITAS?" Lavi asked, horrified.
"Yes, Bookman. I assume that you know what is to happen inside of it?" Lavi shook his head. "Might I ask why?"
"I'm still only an apprentice. Bookman doesn't tell me everything but I know what it is. And I also know that this is most likely the biggest one that we've ever recorded… Are they stuck in there forever?"
"Quite possibly; but there is a way out. Unfortunately only they can open it. Our power is useless and it's best to not meddle around. It's all up to them now…"
He awoke in complete darkness. Allen panicked and tried to recall what happened last. He was running around looking for a reason why time kept repeating itself. Then when everything stopped, Dumbledore made an announcement saying that they needed to evacuate as soon as possible, but before he could escape, he was swallowed up by the black orb. "Oh yeah… That's what happened…" He said to himself.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" A voice said.
"Yes… I'm Allen Walker, who are you?" He said to the mysterious voice.
"I'm Neville… Neville Longbottom… Are we still alive?"
"Well I'm breathing so I'm going to have to say yes. Where are you?"
"Down here." Allen looked down, and sure enough, there was a plump little boy standing beneath him. "Are you floating?"
"No. I'm standing the way I normally do. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that we are currently stuck in the middle of nothing whatsoever?"
"Probably… How do we move around?"
Allen tried walking around. He still moved normally. "Just walk around normally."
Neville proceeded to walk around in a circle. "Well, this is still normal. But how do I get up there?"
"Maybe you should try to move up? Or I could come down I guess…" Allen attempted to walk downwards. Although it was an odd sensation, it was definitely working. Soon he was standing beside Neville. "Okay, now what?"
"You're that new guy from Slytherin…" Neville noticed.
"Yes I am. Didn't you get that from my name?"
"I forget things easily…"
"I see… I have a similar problem. I get lost easily…"
"I hope we don't get lost in here…"
"Nah. Even if we didn't, we'd still be lost because this place is surrounded by nothingness."
"Then how do we get out of here?"
"Do what anyone else would do. Walk around until we find an exit."
"Or we can find someone who can apparate…" Neville suggested.
Two extra voices decided to join in on the conversation. "Already tried that didn't we, George?"
"You bet we did, Fred." It was the Weasley twins in case you didn't get that.
"As a matter of fact. Magic doesn't work in here at all." They said at the same time.
"Brilliant…" Neville sighed.
"And that takes us back to my plan. Wander around aimlessly." Allen suggested.
"Wouldn't hurt to try." The twins said. "And since you're the one who suggested it, you'll be the one leading us around."
"But…"
"Or are you," said Fred.
"Too chicken," said George.
"I'm certainly braver than you three. Fine then. Follow me." Allen started wandering around like a lost dog with three others blindly following him. No matter where they went, it always looked the exact same; pitch black.
But that didn't last for long. A room started to materialise around them. I appeared to be some sort of a nursery for a child. "Something's happening…" The twin's said. Not long after, the door opened and a red-haired woman ran through while holding her child. She put the child into the crib and soon the door once again opened, and a cloaked figure walked through.
"Avada Kedavra!" It said. The spell hit the woman. The cloaked figure moved on to the child and pointed the wand to him and said the same words. There was a green flash of light and the hooded figure fell to the ground. The child had a lighting scar on his forehead. Then the whole room disappeared and they were once again surrounded in darkness.
"What was that?" Asked Allen.
"I think we just witnessed one of the greatest moments in the history of magic." The twins said.
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean by 'what do you mean'?" Fred asked.
"That's Harry Potter. How do you not know?" Said George.
"Well, I'm not from this time. I'm here by accident thanks to Malfoy. Are you meaning to say that that was some kind of… memory?" Allen said.
"Yes. Probably is." The twins said.
"Then I can assume we should expect them to pop up any time. Let's keep moving."
"I'm scared…" Neville said.
They continued walking around for a while longer, when they ran into Harry and Hermione. After joining up, they continued to look around for an exit. After who knows how long of fruitless searching, Hermione decided to give up. "It's no use… There is no way out of here."
"But there has to…" Suddenly the scenery started changing again. Now they were standing in some sort of graveyard.
"What happened?" Hermione asked.
"It happened earlier as well. For some reason Harry's memory appeared and played out in front of us." Allen explained.
"Then who's is this?"
"Let's wait and see." Harry said.
They were standing in a graveyard. At one of the graves, there was a brown haired boy, crying. Then all of the sudden, out of nowhere, a fat man appeared. He wore a long jacket of over his fat body and his grin was enough to give children nightmares; but the boy wasn't at all alarmed when this man approached him. He looked up at him.
"Hello there, dear boy. How would you like to bring back your dear father from your despicable God." A mechanical skeleton of some sort appeared. "All you have to do is yell out his name and he'll come back."
The boy stopped crying, he stood up and yelled out, "Mana! Come back to me!"
The skeleton came alive, "How could you?" It said. "How dare you! How dare you turn me into an akuma!"
"Mana?" The boy said.
"Now my precious akuma; I order you to kill that boy and wear his skin as your own."
The skeleton moved towards the boy, "I curse you!" It yelled, "I curse you Allen Walker! I curse you!" It scratched the left side of his face.
Then his left hand turned into a huge white claw. Almost as if it had a mind of its own, it started to move in the direction of the skeleton. "No! Mana!" And then the hand destroyed the skeleton.
"Thank you." It said. Then the scene disappeared.
Witnessing this cause Allen to go through a mental breakdown. He burst out into tears and proceeded to curl up in a little ball.
"Allen… Please calm down… That's all in the past, okay?" Hermione talked to him like he was a little child, attempting to calm him down.
"I know… But I never… intended to relive that moment… I'm sorry… Let's keep going." Despite what he just witnessed he stood up, still crying; they kept looking for an exit.
"It's useless!" Harry exclaimed. He looked at Allen. "Are you still crying?"
"Be glad I'm only crying and not acting like what I did back then."
"How did you act back then?"
"Mentally, I couldn't function for months…"
"Okay, I prefer this…"
"We still need to get out of here…"
"How and," said George.
"When," said Fred.
Another scene started to materialise. It wasn't anything special. It was just the twins pulling a bunch of pranks. It seemed to cheer Allen up a bit. When that finally disappeared, everyone just kept moving along.
Not sure how long they've wandered around, everyone was starting to feel a bit hungry and tired. They decided to call it a night and go to bed. They'll find another way to escape in the 'morning'.
All the students were sent home early. The staff had to find an alternative place to live for the time being as they could no longer go back to Hogwarts. Lavi included.
But thankfully, Mrs Weasley was nice enough to let him stay at 12 Grimmauld Place. At first she was upset to hear that Harry, Hermione, and the Twins didn't make it back, but she managed to relax a bit more after Dumbledore told them about their situation. "So they are alright?" She said, hopefully. Dumbledore nodded. "Oh thank goodness! But what if they don't make it out?"
"I'm sure that they'll find a way. Although I'm not sure if it will be in this time that they manage to escape."
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"The thing that they are trapped in is known as a RITAS."
"Isn't that something that causes a paradox?"
"Yes and no. As a matter of fact, it is the paradox itself. If anything fixed in time were to be moved out, it would cause a paradox; no matter if big or small. The longer the object taken out of their respectful time stays, the bigger the RITAS will get. What it actually does is keep future versions of the removed object and things that are relative to it. In other words, somewhere inside of it, there is most likely an older version of Lavi. If they do manage to escape, it might be that they escape into the future." Dumbledore was quiet for a while. "Unfortunately I didn't expect it to become that big… I should've evacuated the whole school sooner."
"Well… You tried and did well, Professor. I'm going to start with dinner." Mrs Weasley got up and started walking towards the kitchen.
"Sorry, Mrs Weasley…" Lavi called out.
"Yes dear?"
"Do you need any help at all?"
"My, my… Such a gentleman. 19th century men are so polite, but, no need to worry. I can manage myself."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course… No need to be such a gentleman."
"Thank you Ma'am. I'm not usually this polite, though… I guess I'm just filling in for my friend."
"Is this that Allen boy you mentioned earlier?"
"Yes it is indeed."
"I would really like to meet him." She said cheerfully.
"Oh, I'm sure he would love to meet you and your cooking. See, Allen has an incredibly fast metabolism and therefore he eats a lot more than your average fifteen year old."
"Well that's good to hear! I should get going… Dinner isn't going to cook itself."
"True… Well then. I'll leave you to it. It's been lovely talking to you Mrs Weasley."
All of the sudden, a young girl with red hair came running to Lavi. In her hand she had a red envelope. She handed it to Lavi. "Professor; you have a howler." She said.
Nervously, Lavi opened it, expecting the worse. He once got one from bookman. It was a very unpleasant experience. "DEAR PROFESSOR LAVI! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! YES I'M SAYING THIS IN A HOWLER BUT I FEEL THAT ALL THE SHOUTING IT DOES WILL GET THE POINT OF MY LOVE ACROSS A LOT MORE EASILY THAN ANY OTHER LETTER. I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! BY THE WAY, I MAY OR MAY NOT BE STALKING YOU AT THE MOMENT. I'LL LET YOU DECIDE, BUT, KNOW THIS! I WILL ALWAYS PROTECT YOU AND MAKE SURE THAT ONLY I CAN HAVE YOU! LOVE, A STUDENT!" And then the envelope burst into flames.
"Why the hell did they send a love letter in the form of a howler?" Lavi exclaimed. "That's almost as frightening as bookman sending me a howler if not more frightening…" He looked at Ginny with a worried expression. "You aren't the stalker, right?"
"No sir…"
"Okay. Good. But that doesn't stop me from worrying and can you please call me Lavi seeing as we are no longer at school and because I'm only eighteen."
"Alright… Lavi."
"Thank you." Lavi was quiet for a while. "I hope Allen's okay." Lavi said softly.
Okay, not the best chapter and I probably should have spent more time on it. But I needed a reason to procrastinate and writing this seemed relatively acceptable. Unfortunately it didn't help me at all with getting my assignment done. I promise that the next chapter will be way more excitable. This one was mainly just to clear up a few things that probably left people confused.
Anyway, thank you for the reviews and favourite. I really appreciate it ^.^
